Completely aside from this size being WAY better value for money than I could EVER buy in Australia – This stuff WORKS. My dogs have less tartar on their teeth and what is there is just softer and easier to remove than before I started using this. Both dogs are Spitz breeds (you know, "Independent") and don't tolerate me brushing their teeth. Adding complications: one is allergic to all meat besides fish and the other suffers from anxiety. Our dog has suffered from stinky breath forever even though she gets her regular vet cleanings, and we were using another tooth treatment. She’s a beagle / shitzu / pug mix, so she is already genetically doomed in the tooth area anyway, so I’ve always been concerned with her dental health and worried about it leading to other health issues. When I saw this, I was skeptical she wouldn’t notice it in her water. With that beagle nose, she sniffs out even the best tricks I try to pull, but she hasn’t noticed it yet, and the vet recently commented on how amazing we are doing with her teeth. I told her it is simply a matter of adding a cap full of the solution to her water every morning (I keep it by the sink since the bottle is small enough and doesn’t stick out, so I don’t forget.) and trust it is doing its thing. So I have some reservations about this product. If you search other reviews across the internet, you get insane reports about this potentially causing seizures /epileptic episodes, wasting away, eye problems, all kinds of crazy stuff. However, it also does have a fair amount of people preaching that it's legit. The potential side effects are SEVERE, and it doesn't seem like the brand has done much to mitigate those cases or fears?? Knowing all that, I chose to use this for my cat with extreme caution. He gets stinky breath from whenever he eats fish based products (extreme common for cats) but the reason why I'm willing to take any of those risks is because it honestly reminds me of Accutane. I've never had to use Accutane myself, but I know that 1) It's a last resort 2) It is practically guaranteed to work 3) Side effects range from IBS to infertility /severe birth defects. So… my cat's halitosis isn't that severe to illicit the full dose. I use roughly half to a third of the recommended amount in his water fountain (which I highly recommend getting if you don't have one). So at a very low dose, his bad breath has indeed been kept at bay and I monitor his status very closely. This product works, I just strongly recommend using the lowest effective dose (just like with any human medication) and if your pet's breath is so dang stanky you feel like they need the full dose, I highly recommend exhausting all your other options first / supplementing with proper hand toothbrushing / diet changes. Still early days, but maybe the tarter that was building on my Border Collie, Heinz and 17 yr old Yorkie, whose teeth are just horrible (I've been afraid to put him under general anesthesia for a deep cleaning for a couple of years) are getting clean!!!!! Okay, so I thought it was a little funny that dogs have small toothbrushes and flavored toothpaste because I’ve never heard of it. But it is amazing. My pup had smoker’s breath. I mean like it was absolutely horrendous. I have been using this product as of recently and love it. He no longer has bad breath and his teeth look so clean. My pup really likes the flavor of the toothpaste and loves getting his teeth brushed. Every time I whip out the toothbrush, he hops around and gets so excited. You do have to slowly train your dog to get them used to the feeling, but they get used to it quickly and learn to love it. I was excited to get this blanket and toy combo set for my Standard Poodle puppy. The colors are much brighter and prettier than in the pictures. The toy appears to be well made but as with any toy, I always caution clients that they should only be given to the puppy or dog while under supervision. I somehow thought this set would be made of organic materials or at least that the dyes would have been safe, natural ones but I find nothing saying that they are either. The filling in the toy however is said to be ""eco-friendly"", made with recycled bottles. This simply means that the filling won't harm the environment which is great but I was hoping for a more natural/organic material used in the blanket and toy.
I recently purchased this product for my two small dogs and I am happy I did. I had been using another company product and after several months of use my dogs still had bad breath. Many other retailers offer this same product – in a smaller size, 16 oz for the same price! The recommended amount is 1 capfull per 16 oz of drinking water. I like to mix up a gallon of it at a time. A gallon has 128 oz. 128 divided by 16 is 8. So every gallon gets 8 capfulls of product. That way I can just pour from the gallon every time I replace or add to my dogs' water. Product must be palatable to my dogs. No one ever avoids drinking. And product clearly has assisted my dogs' oral health! And canine oral health is definitely important! I have tried using doggie toothpaste and the Greenie type of treats as well as the Milk Bone dental bones and if it doesn't taste like a steak , he isn't interested…… at all.
