I have a ten year old small dog who’s teeth had gotten very bad. I have used many doggie dental products with no results. Her gums were swollen in the front of her mouth. Unfortunately this gave my dog really bad diarrhea and discomfort. I wasn't sure if this was what caused the diarrhea initially so I took her off this for a couple days and added it back into her water after she recovered, she proceeded to have diarrhea again the next day. She is 3 yrs old and has some bad breath for such a little dog, she refused both brushes and and we could not get either to get near her. The rubber end which cleans the teeth is small and quite neat but the rest of it is too unwieldy to comfortably slide in a mouth which is a bit reluctant to open. The instructions on the pack are not very informative about how much toothpaste you actually need to use per session and also if I am doing it correctly. I purchased this product for my 2 dogs. I have a Bichon Frise and Maltese. I have tried many times to brush there teeth. But no luck. Too hard to get them to be still. So I decided to purchase this breath spray which has really worked. I spray 2 pumps in their gum line and they seem to like the test. I just took both of them to vet for dental cleaning. I was happy to know they both were in good hygiene. This spray really works well. My get recommend a a liquid to pour in their water to keep up good dental hygiene. I give Oravet chew to my Westie as a treat for taking her medication at night. That way I am killing three birds with one stone ( for want of a better saying). 1. These things damn near killed my dog. My 15-pound Cavalier had oral surgery 3 weeks earlier, and the vet sold me these chews. I gave her and her 25-pound brother each their first one, and I watched them for a bit because I wasn’t sure what to expect. Things seemed okay so I stepped to the fridge to get a soda. When I came back, Jesse had his hair all matted from the sticky mess and Bella was collapsed on the floor. Her jaws were glued together by the sticky chew and it was blocking her airway. It was a struggle getting it out, and fortunately she started breathing again.
These chews work great! Not only that, but my dogs love them. Although it’ll never be as good as just brushing their teeth, it is a whole lot easier and it’s better than doing nothing! This stuff is amazing!! Absolutely love it and it does a wonderful job at keeping my babies teeth clean without having to brush. I rarely give products 5 stars but this definitely deserves it! I have been using this on my does teeth on and off for a few months now, lately because of the results I noticed I am trying to be more consistent. I either just rub the gel on my teeth with my finger or when I have more time I brush his teeth which has been giving the best results with the gel. I bought wisps and took out the beads and use them as little toothbrush’s, they work amazing, since my dog has such a small mouth (Chihuahua). Where I noticed the major results was his back teeth, they were really starting to build up with a lot of plaque, very dark yellow. They are almost white right now!!! Every animal owner should be using this product! I wish I had known about this years ago before my poor baby had to have a bunch of teeth pulled. Highly highly recommend. Okay, so I thought it was a little funny that dogs have small toothbrushes and flavored toothpaste because I’ve never heard of it. But it is amazing. My pup had smoker’s breath. I mean like it was absolutely horrendous. I have been using this product as of recently and love it. He no longer has bad breath and his teeth look so clean. My pup really likes the flavor of the toothpaste and loves getting his teeth brushed. Every time I whip out the toothbrush, he hops around and gets so excited. You do have to slowly train your dog to get them used to the feeling, but they get used to it quickly and learn to love it. Unfortunately this gave my dog really bad diarrhea and discomfort. I wasn't sure if this was what caused the diarrhea initially so I took her off this for a couple days and added it back into her water after she recovered, she proceeded to have diarrhea again the next day. Possibly different effects for different breeds. Coco is a Toy Poodle of 4kg for reference but i would not recommend this product either way.Ariel
I read before I bought this product, that some dogs don\'t like the water after you add this. So at first, my dog drank the water but then she stopped. She would come up, smell it and walk away. After a while, I switched to fresh water, without this product, and she drank so much so she was definitely thirsty but unwilling to drink. I can say that after using this for 2 days, her breath did smell good! So the product works! For the last several months I have been looking for an alternative to Nurto’s dental stick since the company has decided to discontinue that product. After several attempts with other dental sticks my picky dog turned her nose up to them. To be honest I had given up finding an alternative. I was in Petco recently looking for a totally unrelated item and I stumbled upon these new sticks. The package said “Filet mignon flavored”. Since my dog Happy loves meat I decided to try it. Coconut Botanical. . . interesting treat for a dog. She spent a good 10 – 15 minutes devouring this treat. I prefer these dental treats over other popular treats. I have dachshunds that are aggressive chewers but also will eat big pieces off of treats that can lead to them throwing it up later on. Danger- choking hazard! I have 2 large dogs who spilt a “Dentastix” every morning. We ran out dentastix so I thought I would try something new. I split one of these fresh kisses double brushes and gave to dogs. After feeding these treats, I immediately regretted it. They both struggled to chew. One dog managed to “eat” it and the other one had it lodged in her throat. 45 minutes and $228 later, the treat eventually passed through her throat and in to her stomach. I wanted to test the products out before going full out and getting the full sized products and these were perfect. My dog hates the gel for brushing his teeth and refuses to let me do it. Not sure if it's because he hates the taste or if he just doesn't like me being near his teeth. The oral additive seems to work fine though.
