Our GSP was always hungry on those high protein holistic dog food. He's a puppy so he's very active and it seemed as though he was losing weight. No matter how much we fed him he still wouldn't put on some weight and he would poop all day! My Cane Corso is 9 months old. I had tested many dry foods from the time she started eating dry food. Always she had digestive upset and it was obvious since all the super premium foods I was feeding her were causing diarrhoea or "almost liquid" discharging. I had to use continuously Gastrointestinal food which is not good for the puppies growth. After I changed to RC Junior GIANT, every thing was adjusted. After the first try!!!. Even if, in 3 months it should be good to change food for a month (just for change) I am tninking seriously not to change and stay on the RC dry food GIANT type, permanently. I have been feeding this for about a year to my dog. She has chronic constipation, low GI motility, and other GI issues secondary to several surgeries she had when she was young. (Parts of her intestine had to be removed due to her eating foreign material) Before now she had to have a high dose of laxative twice a day and a low dose of steroid just to maintain normal GI function. Since starting this food, we have been able to wean her off of most of her medications. She no longer needs the laxative or steroid! And her gut health is the best it has been in years. Her issues are very infrequent and she recovers much more quickly now. When we got our puppy, Max, we had him on a natural, grain free food that he tolerated well but when that brand had a recall and we were forced to switch him to a new food without notice he started having digestive issues. They were pretty significant for some time. While he ate 'enough' he was losing weight and experiencing lots of diarrhea and loose/bloody stools. When our vet recommended this Royal Canin food we were a little bummed about the expense but it has REALLY helped Max. He still has some intermittent issues where he skips a meal here or there but he gained weight–his body and his coat are gorgeous–and he only VERY rarely has any loose stools. My 10 yr old Rhodesian Ridgeback was diagnosed with moderate IBD of the small intestine over 6 yrs ago via endoscopy. She was put on Hills ZD diet and her symptoms were managed through the years with holistic veterinary care including acupuncture, herbal medicines, and supplements with success. Thankfully we were able to avoid steroids. However recently she began experiencing severe acid reflux (cough, gags, smacking of lips, etc.) and some skin yeast/fungal irritation. It seemed that she was no longer tolerating the ZD diet and I was fearing that she may now need more aggressive therapies. After trying numerous options (fresh food, canned foods, other gastrointestinal soothing foods), giving her pepcid her symptoms persisted. I finally found the Royal Canin HP dog food to be our saving grace. I literally fed her this diet exclusively just two days ago and her acid reflux has subsided dramatically. Her coughs and lip smacking have nearly gone away and she was actually able to sleep through the night without having an acid reflux attack. I'm hoping this improvement will continue but just wanted to share my experience in case other folks have dogs that are suffering through the same thing and need to try something that works. I'm so glad she's no longer in pain since we all know how uncomfortable acid reflux can be. I'm definitely a proponent of feeding whole foods to my dogs and when looking at this products ingredient statement one may be like is this even food? When I retired I dedicated my life to rescuing adult Pomeranians with liver disease because of the love I had for my very first rescue Pomeranian, Lola. I had quite a learning curve with Lola but with the assistance and knowledge of those at the Yahoo Group DogLiverShuntandDisease, Cornell Univ College of Veterinary Medicine and Royal Canine Hepatic diet, her life turned around and her liver began regenerating. I had been prescribed a number of different prescription diets before discovering Royal Canin Hepatic and two of them nearly killed her. Lola's liver diagnosis was Hepatic Microvascular Dysplasia (HMD, a hereditary liver disease). Unfortunately, in addition, my little Lola had many genetic and congenital diseases as a result of breeding for the sake of the almighty dollar with total disregard for the results. The prognosis that I was given when I adopted her was, at the most, 1 year. I adopted Lola at the age of 4 years and she was with us until just shortly before her 10th birthday and it was not the liver disease that took her from us. Today I have 3 Poms with HMD, Doodlebug (8 years old), Ludwig, (7 years old) and Pippy (9 years old). Several months ago, I lost my beloved 2 year old chi'weenie, Snapper, to liver disease. We didn't know he had it until he was in the late stages and nothing could be done to save him. Now I have his little sister, Calibean, 2 years younger than him. (She is named after my son in law, Cal and my daughter whose nickname is Bean. She was a gift from them.) He was deaf and so is she. So I chose to have her tested for liver disease at 3 months and she has it too. My vet prescribed Royal Canine Hepatic dry dog food for her and she is doing wonderfully. She is healthier than he ever was. I could never get him to gain weight or regulate his digestion. She is at normal weight and has more consistent bowel movements than he did. Bottom line….had we known sooner that Snapper was suffering from liver disease, we could have had him on this food. I believe he would have been healthier, more comfortable, and possibly even still be here with us. I will keep my Calibean on this diet for as long as she is here with me. In September, 2012 my 8 year old neutered male Collie began vomiting. Upon examination and bloodwork, it was determined that all his liver values were elavated. He spent 4 days on IV fluids and anitibiotics. He was very sick. He did not improve much in those 4 days so an ultrasound was ordered. It showed extreme liver inflammation. Magic was put on several antibiotics and Denamarin as well as Pepcid. At the end of the 3 week course, his liver values had gone even higher. A liver biopsy was ordered. It was determined that Magic suffered from Idiopathic Hepatitis with Copper Storage Disease. The vet recommended Royal Canin Hepatic Diet as well as continuing with his medications for the rest of his life, which would not be more that 6 to 9 months according to the vet. Well, here it is 2016 and Magic is still with us. He celebrated his 12th birthday March 6th. His liver value are now normal for a dog of his age. He continues to take his 2 antibiotics, Pepcid, and Ursodiol. I will not feed him anything but Royal Canin Hepatic Diet as it was the turning point in his treatment. I have a 9 year-old Bichon Frise named Puppers. I rescued him 6 years ago. I tried a few different foods, but they left him with an upset digestive system. I started him on Royal Canin Small Breed Kibble and added a tablespoon of the Beauty wet food and he loves it and has no more digestive problems. He gets 3/4 cup of kibble twice a day with the added tablespoon of wet food. He is healthy and has maintained his 21 pound weight for over 5 years now. We recently brought home a 12 week old puppy and he was on the French Bulldog puppy food. I started him out in this, but when I realized it was only sold in 3 pound bags for $24.99 I decided to try and switch to a human grade puppy dog food. I tried doing the switch slowly like recommended, but his stomach couldn’t handle it. I am now back on the puppy French Bulldog food. The 3 pound bag barely lasts 7 days. Totally ridiculous for Royal Canin not to sell larger bags. I am only feeding him this because I love my puppy and don’t want his stomach to be upset. But as far as Royal Canin as a company, I have nothing nice to say. The ONLY reason it isn’t being sold in bigger bags is to charge a fortune. Considering RC stance on not making larger bags, it is evident RC only cares about hire much money they make and not our pets at all. Very disappointed in Royal Canin. My other dog is on a vet prescription diet from Royal Canin which I can get in a 24 pound bag.Murphy12

This was good while it lasted only a short amount of time and I did try other food and my mini Frenchie really likes this one the best, but the size of bag like many people are saying is too small and not enough. it should deserve 5 stars but I see they aren't responding about the bag size and being in business myself I know the reason for this is that they are making more money off the food by only having a small bag available. so yeah for loyal customers they should at least respond if not help out with a larger size bag if they cared about the customers and not only the money which I get is the reason why they're in business but come on your already established and making good enough money to be able to help out the customers that are asking and requesting over and over. it wont loose you any money but you may ntake a small cut on profit for a while but hey you might have a lot of people switch as well so you never know if you dont try because it may be a great decision business wise as well.minifrnchieBellis11

Frenchies have GI issues. This food is designed for them. Frenchie puppies need smaller the Smaller size & shape kibble, but why are you NOT RESPONDING to so many customers requesting larger bags?? Terrible marketing. We’re WAY past the COVID related supply issues. Your producing fresh dog food but continuing to ONLY offer 3 lb bags costing $21 + tax. Why? Other than greed, WHY?? My lab has had a lot of trouble/ allergic reactions to many foods at similar price ranges. Note to readers- please get your lab off that grain-free diet (unless they're allergic)! My pup was suffering from that food. I needed to make a change quickly. My boyfriend's family has a beautiful lab who is so happy and healthy and they recommended Royal Canin to me. After hours of research and phone calls with my vet, I decided to take their advice and make the switch. Boy am I glad I did. My dog loves it! From the moment it came out of the box she loved it. I have a hard time feeding her dry food on its own but this dog wanted to eat it out of the bag! As I transitioned her onto royal canin she refused to eat her old food and has had no poor reactions to it. My favorite part of the food is how it's breed-specific – my dog is getting what she needs. Although this is one of the pricier brands of food, your dog will thank you. I can assure you it will pay off. Once I got the OK from the vet I immediately bought it. Petco has the lowest price for this food if you look around and the repeated delivery is amazing as I won't forget to pick up Molly's food. Additionally, shipping is free and it came in 2 days. I switched to Royal Canin (from Blue) a couple of months ago at the recommendation of my Vet. So glad I did, as I have seen an incredible difference in my 8 year old Golden. Before Royal Canin, his energy level was low, coat was lackluster and eyes appeared cloudy. Cannot believe the difference in our 8 year old!! Just got my new (5 month old) Lab puppy. The breeder has used Royal Canin Lab puppy and adult food for many years with only good results; she more or less insisted I continue with this food. Over the last 6 weeks or so, my (large) puppy has literally devoured all of his 3 feedings per day. Four years ago I adopted a five year old cocker spaniel from a rescue group. They had acquired her at an auction from dog breeder in Missouri who was going out of business. She was identified as extremely shy. Having had under socialized dogs before, I thought I could handle this. She truly is the shyest dog i have ever known and was the shyest dog at "shy dog class" where the goal was to eventually accept food from others. Eventually Natalie was placed on an SSRI for a year with little noticeable difference. We were in the process of changing medications when Calm came on the market. Because of the cost of Calm, I decided to make sure it had an effect on her behavior so I fed her only Calm before I started the next SSRI. It made enough of a difference that I did not start the SSRI. She is still not an outgoing dog but does not hit the ground when a noise startles her. My dog seemed to love this food. He was excited by the bag as soon as it came in. I have been feeding him the recommended amount and he just loves dinner time. I have not noticed any bad side effects or anything like sometimes you get with switching a animals food. His coat looked great and overall he just has a pep in his step. We will be looking into purchasing this brand again. Since I went to work for my sister in law at her kennel and Royal Canin is all she feeds I found this product and feed it to my three dogs now, and WOW! I have a rescue American bulldog and she came to me with dental problems, and I exhausted many products to help her with her dental issues, nothing worked. I buy about 3 cases of the adult Royal Canine for my yorki and shorki. That is quite of bit of money. I stopped by the store today to pick up a case. It has gone up 10.00 in the last two weeks.
