I like this one because it isn't overly big but the opening is large enough that bigger food pellets fall out on their own. Our last dog bowl we had to continually shake it to get the food down into the bowl.MissBigB

This is a sturdy well made dog feeder for being plastic. I have had the metal ones in the past and they rust out over time, Only time will tell how long this kind will last as we have a large dog breed puppy who likes to chew! I wish they had different gender colors though.April H

I have 3 cats and 1 gets different food that the other 2 cannot eat, but love. I would have to put his food away constantly and bring it out so he could eat. It really didn’t take long for him to figure out how to use it and it’s worth what i paid for. It’s aesthetically not appealing but it gets the job done, also bigger than what i thought it was haha. I have it on top of a cardboard box for now so it’s more convenient and easier for my cat to access since the tag (sensor) has to be really close to the feeder so it will open.G

I recently replaced my old Petmate LeBistro. It's digital programming did not survive 10 years of storage in an unheated garage. I really appreciate the convenience of an automated feeder for a cat, and the Le Bistro works very well. That said, I prefer the size and construction of the old version. The new version is larger and not as sturdy. I purchased the 5-lb size but only the food hopper is smaller. The hopper/motor unit just sits on top of the food bowl ring – there is nothing to keep it in place. The first time I picked up the assembled unit, it fell apart. The hopper lid is difficult to open. My old LeBistro had none of these issues. Please return to the older design – at least for a cat.B Linde

We bought our first Aspen pet feeder almost 3 years ago. It sits on top of a 24" high table under the gazebo. This is Texas so we have a lot of high humidity. We leave it out to feed our cat. Sometimes we are gone for 2 or 3 weeks and the feeder never fails to perform. It is actually made for inside the house. For it to hold up outside with the high humidity, the violent thunderstorms spraying rain ever direction, and even getting knocked over and falling 3' on two occasions, I am definitely impressed. I'm especially impressed that it held up under these conditions for almost three years. Something finally went wrong in the brain so we replaced it with a new feeder. The new version of this feeder is awesome! They have enlarged the feed tray and made it hook more securely into the base. It now has a detachable base which elevates the entire unit and keeps residual moisture away from the batteries. And they have added a spacer tray inside the hopper which keeps the pressure of the food away from the feeder door. These are three great improvements that solved any minor issues we ever had. There is nothing else I can think of that needs to be done to improve it. We were totally satisfied with our first Aspen feeder and this one is a great improvement over the old one. Well worth the money! You have to have something you can depend on when you are away, and this machine has never let us down. Great job Aspen! You have won my approval!Criticalviewer

I have 2 units, only used for vacation, 1 unit seems to work, while the other keeps having a blinking display, must remove batteries and restart and reset timing and portion options, only to find a blinking display again. does not feed when this occurs. one pet is fed, while the other goes hungry.Vaca Pet Owner

Very easy to use. We have an over weight cat stops him from grazing throughout the day. The other cats can carry on eating as normal. We have bought a second unit we now have one for dry food and one for wet food. The cover stops wet food drying out. Will stop flies in the summer touching the food. I absolutely love this automatic meal feeder for my cat. It is easy to setup by just turning the dial timer to schedule the 2 mealtimes. It helps feed the cat automatically as well as control the portion size. There are two trays each of which holds upto 1.5 cups of food. The lid is secure and tamper resistant. The feeder is easy to clean and dishwasher safe.Ayaan

I just received it. We have had it about 2 weeks now. And it's made of a hard plastic with 2 weeks for food, it had two timers and it works better then I expected. It's easy to use. My animals are not afraid of it. It makes no sound. Done make a clicking noise of had a buzzer when it's time to eat. But this one has none. Which is great.Christie 75

Our cat loves to sing us the song of her people at 6am as encouragement to get up and FEED the cat. As you can imagine every morning at 6am sharp as if she has her very own kitty alarm clock set..we hear "Meow" followed by "Meow" and this process continues for a good 45 minutes. At the 45 minute mark when she realizes that we are refusing to be awoken by her songs..she claws at our bedroom door. In desperation we open the bedroom door and go back to bed! Why negotiate with the tiny furry terrorist? The problem is that now that the door is open she has free reign to sing LOUDER and PROUDER! So she will continue to sing loud and proud the songs of her people to make sure we were well aware that her bowl is probably not actually empty, but needs to be filled anyways. So she will continue with an enthusiatic "MEOW MEOW" for another fifteen minutes until our alarms officially go off at 7am. Now at 7am she feels that her reign of terror may officially begin and she will claw at the bed and/or jump on the bed to gain our full attention at the travesty that is her probably not empty bowl in the kitchen. This product is saving my marriage, my door frame and my sleep! We can now set the two bowls to magically pop open at 6am and 6pm and our cat thinks we have some black magic going on however she is being fed at a proper hour now..so she is happy. I am happy because I can sleep until my alarm and there is less home repair now. My only complaint is that the two bowls are connected, I wish they were separate so you could wash them, or even dump the food from one to the other to set one side, I tend to like to do things when I'm thinking about it, and since my cat likes to reign terror at 6am, if I think about the bowl at 3pm, it would be nice to just be able to dump the old food. If I think about it at 7pm, I could combine all the food and then set it, etc. But that is a small complaint considering my tiny furry terrorist is leaving me alone in the morning. I'm not sure she's happy that her food is magically appearing, but she'll live!JennH

I purchased this at Sam's over the weekend to replace my old-school from another manufacturer that didn't have the internet connectivity and camera. After bringing it home, I noticed that the reviews on the Geeni website were not good for this unit. Most complaints seemed to focus on portion sizes not being accurate and jams. This morning, I opted to check the portion sizes, and sure enough, I had it programmed for 1/2 cup, and it was dispensing just slightly more than 1/4. Doing further testing, it jammed. Guess what the fatal flaw of this feeder is…. Correct: it jams ALL OF THE TIME. I mean seriously HOW does this product go beyond testing and to market with as prone to FAILING at its primary purpose. Here is an idea Geeni: improve the feeding mechanics as priority over a camera, microphone, two way communication and all of the other BS. A firmware update could possibly fix the issue. That’s how little ingenuity perhaps geeni has in the development. How? On jam detection (which it already has jam detection as it sends notice of a jam) RUN THE MOTOR IN REVERSE. Looking at the feeder mechanics though, it’s a horrible design. It is a carousel and a little agitator. SMH. How was a screw type extruder not the OBVIOUS tried and tested approach? Price? This is pretty amazing. I really enjoyed being able to see our pets when out of town. The only drawback is not being able to see the food bowl to know if food is actually in it or not when traveling. We forgot to refill the thing when we left, and though it said it has dispensed food, we just weren't sure until we were able to actually catch our pets feeding from it to confirm they had food.Heather

It took very little time for my little 6 lb. Mitzi ti figure out what the chime meant but once she did, it is a great away to feed her away from home but she wants her food from it when we are home. It is great that we can set the time and portion for her meals. She has tummy issues and we were overfeeding her when we went out thinking she would wouldn't mind being alone. It did the opposite and her stomach couldn't handle too much at once. Only issue we had was the AC cord was inches too short to the wall outlet so we are using an extension cord.Wish we had found this before now!Jane

Like others have said it is kind of cheaply made. I had bend some of steel to keep pin in for lid. I think I got that fixed. The magnets don’t always latch on level ground so I raised the back about 1/2” and door does catch with the magnets every time. However, magnets are not very strong. I think it would keep mice out but I don’t think a big rat would have problem budging open the door. I may add a strip of magnets on each side to be a little more difficult to open for rats. Hoping this works good for my livestock guardian dogs.Sharonco

Great idea, poorly executed. Ordered this feeder in store, with the help of an associate and the item was delivered to the store the next day. Unfortunately, it took another 6 days (I had the tracking number) for the store to email me it was ready to pick up. The box was clearly damaged, yet no one thought to open it up and view that the feeder was also damaged. I opened the box while still in the store so the employees could witness. The feeders load door was bent at one corner so the lid wouldn't function as it should. The lower door would get stuck in the open position and there were three rivets that were pulled through the light gauge sheet metal. I made this purchase for the occasional out of town travel and was leaving town that same day I received this item. So, re-ordering and waiting another 6+ days was out of the question. Was I offered a discount for the damaged merchandise? No. They put me in a spot, so I took it and made the needed repairs to the lid, door, drilled out and installed new pop rivets. I cannot recommend this feeder in good faith.walla2k5

We bought this feeder for 5 dogs, different ages, breeds and sexes. We rescue and foster on a regular basis and needed something for automatic or self feeding on few occasions. It is very hard for them to use. Most of the dogs have to lay down to eat. We have been through several types of food trying to solve the issue of the food not being able to fall down enough for the dogs to get to it. It is extremely loud when they stick their heads in and out to feed. We were really disappointed with the product. We researched and bought from our local store. We were unable to take the product back, even for store credit. We are currently in the process of trying to build a stand in order to work around the dogs laying down to eat as well as being able to knock it over. At this point the product is a little over a month old and I hate it.MrsH2010

We bought the Feeder-Robot to replace our existing PetSafe Smart Feed 2nd Generation. We bought the Smart Feed because it was, at the time, seemingly the best automatic feeder on the market, but when we saw the Feeder-Robot we knew we had to try it! Right off the bat, we found that we preferred the fit and finish of the Feeder-Robot. It looks a little more modern, and it feels a tad sturdier. Quality control also seems to be better; there was a button rattling around in the Smart Feeder's box which we later found out was the reset button, which may complicate selling it since it's required to connect the device to a different WiFi hotspot. Oh well. The mechanism that dispenses kibble is also FAR easier to clean than the conveyor system of the PetSafe Smart Feed. The stainless steel bowl that comes with the Smart Feed is very thin, and when kibble is dispensed it sounds like shots being fired! We ended up having to buy a 3D-printed adapter so we could use a different bowl, but it's a bit of a hassle to clean and doesn't look very nice. It worked for a while, but we wanted something better. We weren't fans of the plastic bowl that came with the Feeder-Robot, either (one of our cats is prone to chin acne), but we bought the optional glass bowl which we've been very happy with. We like that there's a gentle slope to the bottom of the bowl; when food is dispensed, it fans out and covers more area than if the bowl were flat. A nice touch that we didn't anticipate. We like that we have the option of controlling the Feeder-Robot from the device itself rather than solely through the app (which we actually like, but the option is still nice). The buttons don't appear to be prone to accidental presses from curious cats trying to get an extra meal, which is an issue that the Smart Feed has with its easily-pressed top button. The built-in backup battery of the Feeder-Robot is a GREAT feature that I'm very much a fan of. The Smart Feeder takes 4 D batteries as a backup power solution, which requires periodic replacement as they're used. It also doesn't like rechargeable Ds due to the slightly lower voltage they provide; it always thinks they're low. A built-in battery is a much more elegant solution. The Feeder-Robot dispenses food in 1/4 cup increments, whereas the Smart Feeder dispenses in 1/8 cup increments. We wish that the Feeder-Robot would dispense in smaller increments for greater control over portions, but it's not been an issue so far. Our cats have adapted well to getting larger, fewer feedings. Gravity mode is also a NEAT feature that we didn't even realize it had when we bought it. It should come in handy should we ever need to travel for a few days and have a neighbor watch the little beasts. All in all, we're pretty darn happy that we tried the Feeder-Robot, and we'll be selling the PetSafe Smart Feed (should we ever get the reset button issue figured out).Chris C.

I got this feeder robot just before a 3-week-long trip. To my surprise, my cat was not hesitant and happily started eating from the Feeder-robot. Getting the feeder saved my cat sitter and me from free feeding my cat while I was away. The Whisker app that connects to the feeder works great and enables the scheduling of small meals throughout the day, I get a notification every time the food is dispensed, which gives me peace of mind. Also, the feeder lid has a light indicator that tells whether the feeder has enough food or needs a refill. I have used this feeder for the past two months and haven't had any issues. These days, once my cat hears the food dropping into his bowl, irrespective of what he's doing, he sprints to the feeder. Overall, it's a fantastic product that does an excellent job. I have ZERO REGRETS about purchasing this automatic feeder! I have spent a lot of money buying other automatic feeders off of Amazon, only to find that the kibble has jammed up in them and it doesn’t drop down the chute properly. I love that this feeder allows you to control portions, let’s you give snacks, tracks how full the container is and notifies you when meals are dispensed. I know it’s a big decision to make such a big purchase, but honestly I would highly recommend buying one! I wish this had been on the market when the litter robot first came out. It didn’t become available until some time later, but I purchased it when it first became available and was so glad I did. I opted to buy a glass dish because one of my cats struggles with chin acne, so it helps keep things nice and hygienic. It makes going out of town a whole lot easier. I don’t have to stress if the kitties get fed on time or not. It has yet to fail on me and I’ve had it for over a year now. I am really happy with my litter robot products and the automatic feeder is no different! I use Purina One food in it, and have had zero issues with it holding the kibble or jamming. I would 100% purchase one again if I needed to. It’s worth every penny!Thao

Our 1.5 yr old golden retriever has food anticipation issues, such that around 5 AM, he would vomit up a bit of bile. As every dog owner knows, there is no better alarm clock than your dog vomiting in the middle of the night. Our pup was put on a low dose of acid reducer, but this only helped for a while. We thought, what if we could feed him just a small portion in the middle of the night? The problem, another golden retriever pup that we affectionately call "Kobayashi". To avoid Kobayashi eating our other dog's food, we bought two of these. Now both dogs get fed around 3 AM, without much problem. They even figured out that going to the other's dish results in its closure, so we are no longer listening to the feeder doors at 3 AM (which can be a bit annoying). Moral of the story, our pup is no longer on acid reducing medication, AND he has not vomited overnight since. We do have 3 issues: 1. The feeder has a minimum number (2) of feedings for dogs, therefore, the feeder actually dispenses part of their overnight snack at least 1 hr prior to dispensing the other half. It would be helpful if you could set the number of meals dispensed to one. 2. The feeder lights up the screen and provides an Err 03 code when a dog has not visited it for more than 16 hr. It would be helpful to have a more descriptive error symbol, AND this feature should be able to be turned on/off. 3. It would be useful to have a mobile app and connectivity to the feeders through a wireless network, so that changes could be done through the app, AND so that notifications could be sent about the feeder (e.g., when food was dispensed, how much, when was it visited, etc.) Overall, we are pleased with the feeders, and they function exactly as described. However, make sure to purchase any extra tags AND extra dog bowls (if you would like to rotate them while you wash the previously used ones) at the SAME TIME you purchase the feeder(s). The shipping for these items after this is highway robbery.Stuart

This is a good quality product; however, it is way overpriced for the value. My son and I have two cats; one likes to nibble every now and then and the other loves to break into wherever food may be and eat until he is sick. In my opinion the cost of these feeders is outrageous and I consider it to be price gouging. I did contact the company to see if I could get a decent discount because I had to purchase two, but they wouldn't give me one. I ended up spending over $400 for two feeders so that my cats can get fed properly. The tags are quite heavy and bulky and with the overeater cat it clunks loudly on the dish when he is eating. My little girl kitty doesn't clunk her tag when she eats but it does seem cumbersome for her to wear because she is much smaller than my other cat who can handle the extra weight. I had my son set the feeders to stay open unless the wrong kitty comes to close to the wrong feeder and that seems to be working well. When I first got these the noise from the motor when the dish opens would scare my little girl and she would run away and not eat. My male kitty would get startled, but once he figured out there was food there he took right to it. He likes to try to fool my little girl's dish into giving him food but has almost figured out that it will never happen. I have an island in my kitchen and have put one on either side of the ends of it and that is working well. My little girl has become less stressed about eating now that she knows she can eat anytime she wants too without my little boy kicking her out of her dish and he is now getting down to a manageable weight so he is healthier. If I didn't have an urgent need to purchase these and they were both nibblers, I would have gone with a different auto feeder because of the price. They are made well but not worth the cost they are charging.LizzyBeth

I have two cats that I fed 4 times a day equalling 1/2 cup of food. They have never gotten along and are territorial over the upstairs and downstairs of the house and are both food driven. One has severe anxiety, the other is overweight, and both can be very aggressive with each other. I got these feeders 5 days ago. The cat with anxiety needed 2 days to adjust to the collar and the sound of the food bowl. Day 2, I decided to switch the mode for her to leave the door open so she didnt freak out so much about the noise of the door opening and closing. It made a huge difference in calming her about the noise. She used to step back when the other cat would come eat her food and in less than 5 days she had calmed down from the noise realizing that the door closes when the other cat comes and is calmer knowing the food is still there. Once she realized the other cat can not touch her food her anxiety disappeared about the noise from the door opening and closing and both cats are better about being together on each level of the house. It seems much anxiety was created around food and I feel as though I now have two new cats because they are acting so different towards each other. I have not been woken up by either cat for a feeding all week. Another blessing! Now the cat that is overweight is getting the exact measure of food she needs and there is no stress over who fed the cats, which one got the most or least food, and if they were over fed. I bought this automatic feeder for our cat to allow her biscuits whilst we are either later at work or out for the day. It is battery AA run. The timer is not time related but hourly, so you set it to open anything from 1 hour to 48 hours. You can put wet food in as the product comes with a gelice pack but we have only put biscuits in.Th only downside is our cat is managing to get the feeder open slightly before the set time. We are not sure how she is doing this but it is not really a problem to us as she is still getting fed without having to wait for us to return home.Mrs M Garlick

It's been since November 11, 2021 since I first started using these feeders for my 3 cats. It took approximately 5-6 weeks to finally be able to close the lids all the way after the training process. They have adapted really well and they each know where their bowls are located. I also did purchase the different colors for all 3 bowls: Bray-Blue, Lexi-Green, Pookie-Pink. I'm able to use the split bowls only for Lexi & Pookie (morning feeding: wet/dry). Bray refuses to eat wet food in that feeder, no matter what I do, so he gets his wet food on the side in a ceramic bowl. Once the other 2 have finished their wet food side of the bowl I switch the bowls out to the single bowl for the duration of the rest of the day with their dry food in there. Whatever is leftover in the morning I scoop into the larger single bowls and that works out just fine (add more in the evening feeding). It's been really good because of the different diets I have to give the kitties and this fixed the problem of someone getting too much food or not enough. I have definitely seen an improvement in them because of it. My original batteries are holding up since November so far and this is now February 1st, so that's good. I only have one cat with a microchip so her bowl is working now with that. At first I had the collar on her just like the other 2 cats because she was originally afraid of the bowl. I had to wait until she was totally comfortable so I could push her head in there far enough to read the microchip to set it up. It does take her to dip her head under the arches a little further to read the microchip, but because her fear is no longer there, it is working. I may even consider getting the other 2 cats micro chipped so they don't have to wear the collars. All in all, I am very happy with these feeder bowls. They are easy to clean too, I actually use can air every day to blow off the hair and food particles that catch in some of the crevasses and then once a week I wipe them down with a soapy damp sponge and dry them with a clean soft cloth. I have also propped 2 of the bowls up for my bigger cats to make it more comfortable for them to eat.ApacheStar

I got two of these in Dec 2022. Within a couple days I saw how this company is definitely money hungry and super inconvenient. I bought 2 Feeders with the hopes of making my life easier as I have cats on multiple medicated diets. As stated in other videos and reviews there is a backing that can be purchased to prevent food stealing…but for a price. Instead I created a box around them with items I already had. Then my cats were still able to steal food straight from the front even when on a mode with the fastest close lid setting. There are also "secret" custom modes available to use which will hopefully help with food stealing. However you are not provided any of these custom modes unless you call or email and they will get back to you in 24-48 hours with what the mode they believe will be most helpful (not just a list of possible modes available). All of which still were not helpful and a headache to contact back and forth with. After so many modes trying the feeder stopped working. If you don't want to do all this don't worry PAY MORE and get the connect but wait.. it won't work unless you buy the additional hub to go with it! Which then you won't be able to do the functions yourself but still have to contact them for them to remote into your hub to do it themselves which will take a couple of hours to fully sync.

So, in all it did not help my life. I'd rather throw my cat in a restroom every time then keep dealing with this feeder.Jazmin Ornelas

These were a life saver! We got a new kitten and were struggling to keep our other cat and the kitten away from each other's food. We bought each of them one of these feeders and could not be happier! They are amazing! We have a Ragdoll and a Burmese. Any complaints about them not working is because the microchip reader has scanned the chip the first time in an incorrect position. Can be tricky to get right but once you do they are amazing! The only complaint I do have would be the overall size. My female Ragdoll does have to get quote low to get under the sensor bar. If these were made larger that would be great! If she were any bigger it would be too uncomfortable for her. She learnt to use this at 14 years old. The kitten was 4months old. Read the instructions correctly and you shouldn't have problems.Krystel

I have had the unit in use for a week or so. It was easy to set up. I like that the hopper part is solidly connected together. I have the occasional raccoon and they are unable to break in. I have it scheduled so there is nothing in it at night. I had to make a metal stirrup attached to the wall to keep little raccoon hands from tipping it over. This product works very well. The manual is very clear and easy to follow. Thank you. May I suggest the followings please. For the manual feeding, it would be great to use the value from feeding size setting to dispense the amount of food, instead of manual stopping. It does a good job but it dispenses a good bit more than the settings indicate. You'll need to play with this to find your desired amount. Only other nit is that the food slides down a ramp into the bowl, but the ramp isn't really steep enough for all the food to reach the bowl. For a dog's tongue I'm sure it's not an issue, but our cat cannot reach all the food. I would certainly buy the dispenser again.WWWebb1

Thought the batteries went dead after a year. Spent another $10 on new batteries only to find out that it wasn’t the batteries but the feeder itself completely stopped working. For how much it costs and for it to completely stop functioning after 1 year I would never buy this company’s products again not recommend. Buyer beware!1JMGD

This automatic feeder is a breeze to use and a great help in the household the second you take it out of the box. The set up is incredibly easy and involves nothing more than installing your batteries, popping in the feeder tray and setting your schedule. The fact that the entire thing runs on a few D batteries instead of AC power makes me feel much more comfortable about using something like this. With a clock that's always running and drawing power, I'm much happier with having to occasionally replace them rather than worry out its effect on my power bill. Plus, without a cable to grab the attention of my somewhat mischievous cat, I know that everyone will be safe and happy. Actually putting everything together takes no more than thirty seconds. Simply pushing the feeder tray into the main body of the device is all you have to do and that's really it. Once you're up and running it holds a full 18 ounce container of dry cat food, so all all you do is pour the new box in and toss it out. It frees up some pantry space and I never have to wonder how much food is left or when I have to buy more. When it comes to setting up the schedule, the actual process is very straightforward and easily done. The buttons are clearly labeled and I didn't run into a single problem when I set it to feed once every morning. Those buttons, however, can honestly be a bit of a challenge. It takes a lot of pressure to make them register your input and I found myself having to wiggle my finger while depressing a few times to make it work for me. This is a really small inconvenience and at the end of the day it's totally outweighed by the benefits of a hands and worry free feeder, but I felt it bore mentioning. All in all this is really great product and it's already a permanent fixer in my home and will likely remain so for years. It's a very easy 4/5 stars!cheranne

The setup of this feeder was pretty easy as the instruction manual that came with it was fairly straightforward. I had no problem putting it together since the only loose parts were the bowl and the lockable lid. Having the lockable lid is great for my sneaky cats and their prying paws. The bowl locks into place against the feeder too, and that’s a plus so that it won’t shift around or away from the feeder and get food all over the floor. On that note, this feeder would probably work best for a one or two-cat household. I have 5 cats, and my sister has 9, and we agree that it’s harder to use a feeder like this for that many animals since multiple meals are needed to feed them all. Each meal triangle slot can hold a lot of food when full, but if my cats don’t eat the entire portion from one of the slots that dispenses before the next mealtime then the bowl will overflow onto the floor when food is dispensed again. One solution would be to place the whole feeder without the attached bowl onto a large boot tray and have that act as the food catching apparatus. I tried this and it worked well, but it’s not an ideal situation as it takes up more space and can be messy. Otherwise, multiple feeders will be needed to serve multiple cats to be able to feed smaller meals over the course of the day and not have the attached bowl overflow. However, you might still run into a problem if multiple cats decided to eat from one feeder instead of each cat eating from their own feeder. This doesn’t negate the fact that this is an excellent little machine, and it would work well to serve my cats if I go out of town for a day or a weekend. So this is a useful device for me in that respect. I can use it as a daily feeder and operate it manually if I just place it in sleep mode when I don’t want it to run. I wouldn’t mind seeing an additional food tank for storage attached to this feeder. Having an attached storage reservoir would make it easy to transfer food into the slots when it’s time for refilling. One more thing about meal times – I could choose to program the feeder to run before I leave for work and after I am set to be home so that I can monitor if the food bowl becomes too full. Overall, this is a quality machine that is helpful to have in my household, but there are improvements that I would like to see made.Angelcakes
