Was very disappointed in the overall design of the watering bowl. In my opinion it was not worth what it cost. The pump was very small and inadequate, not properly filtering the water as advertised. And yes, I was keeping the water changed and the bowl cleaned as often as I had to do so with a regular unfiltered water bowl. The pump lasted 3 weeks and I had to return the system. Historically, we have always used a bowl. After looking around and reading reviews I decided to try this bowl. I went with the big max as we have 4 cats and occasionally a dog visitor. Initially the cats were spooked and were afraid. I had kept the original water bowl set up. Over a couple days they adjusted and now this is the one they use 99% of the time. The original is still available, but is rarely used. I also like the idea of no corners and plan on cleaning it once a month when the filter is changed. I highly recommend this product.Hypatia
I bought this fountain for 3 cats 3 months ago, and it stopped working a few days ago. The motor in the pump seems to have burned out simply from regular usage. Aesthetically the fountain is pleasing, and it wasn’t too noisy, and I thought it was easy to clean. But it was $60 and it only lasted 3 months! I’m extremely disappointed.

This product is excellent. The cats seem to alternate between the still pool of water and the gently flowing fountain. I don't find the motor noisy, but can hear the trickling water sometimes. Adjusting the fountain flow and ensuring water is topped up seems to fix problem. The motor stopped working after about 6 months but I think this is because I didn't change most recent filter soon enough (1-2 months seems to work). I looked up how to fix the motor and have successfully done this by looking at a youtube video by Pioneer Pet products on how to clean it. It went from not working to good as new within a few minutes. The initial outlay for the product seems on the pricey side, but for what it is I think it is worth it. Great quality bubbler – have had this for a few weeks now, and the cat loves it. I’ve never seen her drink so much water! The media could not be loaded. With four cats in the home, this isn't my first rodeo when it comes to fountains. My cats drink a LOT more when the water is constantly running, so years back I invested in a large stainless steel fountain set up close to the $100 range. We have well water, which means that many fountains with the cute little "fountain effect" – streaming little rivers from the top – clog easily. I was always cleaning that darn thing. But more annoying? So many pieces when it came time to clean, and multiple consumable parts required for the filter setup. Enter this little fountain. Combination of plastic and stainless steel. I wasn't entirely sold on the idea of plastic, but with a setup like this – where most of the water is not visible from the top – it is nice to be able to keep an eye on the water level. I'm coming around to it, I like that the top part is stainless steel. The deeper "tank' setup versus the big open designs where all the water is exposed constantly means that less dust/debris/etc ends up in the water. I think this design is superior after seeing both in action. This fountain is SILENT and NO SPLASHING/DRIPS! This is huge! Fountains with the sound of running water tend to be soothing for a few weeks and then they are just not. Particularly depending on where you want to put fresh water for your feline friend. Because there is no splashing water and thus no potential drippage, I feel comfortable putting this in the hallway corner straight on the wood floor. Just as awesome? No consumable filters with this set up. It is a three tier divided container with a super simple little turning plastic gear in the bottom that keeps it going. SO easy to take apart and SO easy to clean. If you need your water filtered due to taste then this probably isn't the unit for you, but if you are looking for easy/free maintenance give it a try! Picture included with a cat to give idea on size scale. From a daily use perspective I have two cats that drink from it every day (it is not their only source of water though) and I have to add water once a week. Only note? Don't overfill above the max water line. I did, during initial setup, and the fountain wouldn't turn on. I dumped some water back out and it still wouldn't. ***Update 10/28/2022*** Revising my initial review (below). Eufy customer service reached out after my initial review. They sent me a replacement unit as the first unit I received appeared to be used. Everything works great and the unit is incredibly easy to maintain and use. The "pump" mechanism is a vast improvement to most pet water fountains. Instead of a pump that sits in the bottom of the water reservoir and gets gummed up with whatever schmoo ends up floating around in the tank, this unit uses a magnet driven impeller that is easy to remove and clean. The actual motor that drives the impeller is completely separate from the water tank and can't get all gummed up. All the parts fit together neatly and the unit makes practically no noise. My only gripe is that it doesn't come with the USB wall "brick" that plugs into your outlets. Luckily we have several outlets with built in USB ports. Seems like an easy/cheap fix that would address most of the negative reviews I've seen on Amazon. ***Initial Review 10/10/2022*** Just received this and it appears to be used. There are water stains on the top metal piece and the filter looks dirty and has hairs on it.
We've been thru a LOT of water fountains. Dozens. They are either too loud, too difficult to clean, never stay clean, break after a few months, filters are too expensive, too tall for my Munchkin, or the cats just don't like them. With most of the others, you either can't see at all, or it has a tiny window you have to stand in front of and bend down to check. So far I was impressed but then it was up to the cats. My little one is obsessed with water fountains and ran right up to it as soon as the water started coming out of the spout. She was a little apprehensive at first, but then gave it a try, and she loves it. Then one day and I was in the living room and heard her meowing, which she doesn't do often, and I came in and she was crying because her big sister was using her fountain! They generally share nothing. Don't sleep in the same spots, won't eat from the same dish, but I guess this fountain is so good, that they are learning to share. Sometimes I find my little one camped out in front of it and her big sister waiting nearby, wanting a turn. I've been using it a solid month now, and I'm very impressed. After a few years of use with 2 cats some parts go bad. Store employee helping me choose a fountain in the store said all items in Petco come with a lifetime warranty. I spent over 200.00 that day. Fast forward until today. The "pod" that holds the filter and pump will not stay on the bottom. This part is held to the bottom with suction cups. Suction cups lose their flexibility and the pod, made of plastic, floats to the top. This pod that contains the filter and pump are now so close to the surface that when my cats drink just once or twice during the day, the pump makes noise as it sucks in air. This is a daily thing when I come home. Now the transformer that plugs in get VERY hot and will soon fail I am sure. I called Petco today and after spending 20 mins with a rep, explaining what is wrong, asking me what parts were needed ect, the rep agreed for me to send a photo. This is a fairly innovative design that has a great deal of potential, and I loved the idea that it was both stylish and practical ceramic. Unfortunately, it suffers due to the cheap materials used and inexact tolerances of mass production… Here's what was wrong with the unit I received: 1.) The ceramic top did not fit well on the ceramic bottom due to sloppy casting and finishing. It sat askew and was easily knocked more askew whenever my pets touched it. 2.) The hole in the ceramic top for water flow did not line up at all with the outflow orifice in the motor. No matter how you positioned the motor, it was always a quarter inch out of alignment, causing leaking and lack of water flow. 3.) it's not a regular household-wired motor… It's a cheap separate power supply that (inconveniently) plugs loosely into the motor, with a too-short cord and round connector that perpetually falls out at the slightest movement. 4.) The carbon filter is incorporated into the water flow in such a way that is doesn't really filter the water fully (water can go around it). 5.) Lastly (and I didn't actually keep it long enough to experience this) the cost of a 3-pack of the carbon filters is $20.00, meaning if you replace them every two weeks as recommended, the annual cost of the unit is $520.00 + tax & shipping + water & electricity. These filters cost between 7 and 10 cents to mass produce according to a knowledgeable source I know, so I'll let you draw your own conclusions about the cost of consumables being outrageous. The seven people that wrote reviews ahead of me have (evidently) had good experiences with this unit. Perhaps they aren't as worried about quality, or perhaps the quality has deteriorated or changed over time… I don't know. But I DO know that the unit I received was of VERY poor quality and workmanship, and I'm not willing to try another product from SmartCat again. I'm using this as an outdoor waterer for a rabbit. Selected this hoping the filters would prevent mosquitos from getting in water tank and reproducing as they had in my big poultry waterer. So far it seems to be working. Nice that it's easy to lift off tank to clean metal dish, too. Doesn’t automatically dispense water at least half of the time. I’ve had to start walking by and checking/adjusting the jug multiple times a day bc the jug was visibly full but my dog was acting thirsty. Bc of the stainless bowl it’s hard to see unless you’re up close that there’s not actually any water in the bowl, despite the tank being full. I have to wiggle it or sometimes pick it up entirely in order to get water flowing again. It’s a great concept but it’s not built very well. I bought both the large and medium versions of this PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Stations for my dogs. These PetSafe versions are much better water stations than other water stations that I've owned recently. First, the fill caps are exactly the same and interchangeable between both the large and medium version. The fill caps also have spring cut off valves and a closable plug valve that is used with an added filter. The somewhat strange shape of their water reservoir bottles make the bottles much easier to carry. The black handles on the water bottles are primarily used to lock the bottles into the plastic bases. You can carry the larger bottle by its full grip handle, but not the medium bottle as there is no handle opening to wrap your hand around with the medium bottle's handle. Both of the water stations have a removable metal water bowls/basins which is dishwasher safe. About the only thing negative thing about these PetSafe Healthy Pet Water Stations is that they do NOT come with the special water filters as I expected them to because the filters were listed as "included" on the items web page. So I was a little irritated that these water stations didn't come with their water filters. My order took about a week to 10 days to arrive and they arrived on the same day in separate shipping boxes. These items were not shipped in their retail boxes but were instead sent in simple clear plastic bags that were taped closed.BillyDeeMe

This is a perfect addition to our backyard. our pups get thirsty out back when they are playing and though they are welcome to drink inside, it's nice to know they can quench their thirst outside as well. This holds a LOT of water! It's wonderful, has a soft tinkling noise (almost like a fountain), and provides ample water for our two dogs. We’ve had our fountain for 10+ years. We keep it indoors, and completely clean it once a month. It takes my husband and I about 15 minutes to clean when we work together. Little pieces have broken off, and crusty in places, but it keeps on keeping on. Our bichons and cats love it. The ONLY thing I’d like is the coarse filter to be sold separately.KBichons
Got mine about 4 months ago and initially, I thought all my problems were over. I have two very large dogs and 2 cats. I was hesitant, at first cause it's not stainless steel (plastics harbor bacteria), but I really wanted the really large size, so I got it. Right off the bat, placing the reservoirs into the unit, was a pain in the butt! Water all over the place! Then, I tore it all down to clean it after about a month and the sponge filter inside the bowl had all this slimy gross stuff all over it and inside the sponge holes. It was REALLY gross. BUT, I endured and cleaned it all out. After another month, I tried cleaning it out again, but I just couldn't deal with putting my hands on the sponge, so I threw it away. Now, the pump won't work. Now I have to buy another, smaller, stainless steel fountain for another $100!! With no reservoir!!Another$100

We loved this at first. But after three months it started slowing down and the stream of water got shorter and shorter until it was just a bubble of water coming out. The electrical cord connector is super touchy as well – if it gets knocked or turned it will shut off. After four months it’s now a toss-up whether I can get it to turn on at all. This fountain is the best one we ever had! It's wide enough for my Boston Terrier to drink out of without making a mess and holds about 3 days worth of water. I’ve had this dispenser for around a year. When I was washing it in the sink, I think the water was just a little too hot for the bottle to handle. It warms the opening of the bottle. Wasn’t able to get the lid back on right after that. I wish they sold a replacement bottle. The lid is only four dollars out of the bottle messes up. You have to buy a whole new system which isn’t cheap. Please sell a replacement bottle.USMC5831
I am sad to write this, but my China built waterer works better than this USA made product. Bought two from COSTCO and quickly noticed the water bottle was thin on one side and thick on the other. Of course, once inverted the thin section just collapses from the suction created by the upside down bottle. This company needs to rethink their manufacturing to better check for correct bottle wall thickness so it doesn't "implode." ** Pro tip ** put the bowl on the bottle like a lid, then flip it sideway to place on the floor! Be extra careful that you don't twist the two, because only a 1/4 turn can pop the bottle off the bowl during this process. We have 3 dogs and this is a godsend. I was going out of town for about 3 days & wanted to make sure my 2 cats had a source of fresh water during my trip so I thought this would be prefect! I sat it up on a Thursday evening & was working fine when I left on a Friday morning, upon returning on Monday evening, it was not working any longer. I thought it was low on water, but it wasn't. So, I unplugged it for a few minutes & plugged back in got it to work for about 5 minutes & then it was off again. Read the directions several times (which were not very informative) & nothing made it work again. I tried to set up with app on my phone too & couldn't get it to work (app failed to find device after several attempts). Also, the blue light that is for sterilization doesn't stay on long either. The top part where the cats drink is also hard to remove, there is a little silicone tap that is supposed to be pulled up to refill bottom part with water, I could not get the top to come off no matter how hard I pulled on the tap, so I had to use a butter knife & insert in the opening at the bottom (of the top part) to pop it open. The one positive thing I did like is that the water is enclosed in a revisor under the lid (where cats drink) so dirt & hair doesn't contaminate the fresh water that flows to top for cats to drink. Like my title states, I really wanted to like this fountain but just didn't work like I thought it would! So now I have to return it & find a new fountain….TwoTooManyCats

I really wanted to like this unit for the size capacity and the price but 2 hours after purchasing I returned it. First, this comes with a usb plug only and no one wall plug. I have never seen a stainless steel waterer until I discovered this. It is perfect since plastic dishes can increase the risk of seizures. Also stainless steel is easy to keep clean. Only wish it came in a bigger size like the plastic/resin ones. Someone suggested trying a standard 5 gallon bottled water with it. I haven't tried it yet but plan to since I have two large dogs and the higher capacity would be great. I got this some months ago and haven't had an issue with it. I notice my cat drinks more now because the running water is fresher. It's super quiet; if I start to hear the pump I know I just need to top up water. Easy to clean as well, but because it's running water it doesn't get gunky/slimy like stagnant water in cat bowls so there's less cleaning. Really happy with it and definitely preferred by my cat.Monique
