No its like everything else I have tried does not work I can't even get my cats to get it down. When I first got it I let my cat smell it and he literally gagged (should have stopped there)?then I put it in a syringe and gave it to him and he threw up right after I gave it to him. My 20 y.o. senior cat has had upper respiratory issues since he was 1 year old, but had gotten so chronic and so bad that he has literally had a stuffy nose and sneezing for an entire year straight. The only thing my vet knew of that might help was an off-label use of Cerenia, which is expensive and was hard to get him to take. My dog went a few days with excessive "goop" from his eyes. Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. The gel-like substance is great to confirm that you got the gel where you want it to go. Went out one morning and caught a glimpse of what looked like a little scratch on my horses eye. Upon inspection the eye itself was untouched but the eyelid was cut about an inch long from the back corner towards the front. I cleaned it and figured I would just leave it alone. This product helped me when my dog had an eye wart. The vet said it did not need to be removed until it got to the point that he was scratching at it or it started to affect his vision. My animals tend to get what I call "goopy eyes" from time to time, mostly irritated from hay or just allergies or dust etc. I have used products similar to this in the past. I used this antimicrobial gel to help clear the irritants in their eyes. It worked and seemed to soothe their eyes right after I used it… However, unlike the current product I use, I found myself having to use it again a few hours later because the symptoms had come back. Compared to another brand that I use for the same purpose, I would not switch at this time and would not buy this product. As far as recommending it to a family member or friend, if what they were using was not working – I would recommend using it and giving it a try. I have actually passed along this sample to a family member who has horses and will be giving it a try with them. I am very pleased with this product. It has a great consistency-not too tacky but not too runny either. I use this product on our 2 dogs. One tends to get dirt/other irritants in her eyes and then her eyes get red and itchy. We received this free trial of Vetericyn Antimicrobial Eye Gel for Pets and decided to test it on our 3 year old English Shepherd, Cooper. Cooper's favorite past time is running through long grasses in our field, which seem to cause him to get eye goobers. Cooper was very unhappy to get the eye gel drops and we often used 2 or 3 times more product than needed since so much ended up on his face and muzzle. Despite the challenges we faced when applying the eye gel, we were happy with the results. After 2 days of 2 applications each, Cooper's eye goobers had disappeared. This lasted for about 4 days before we started noticing the goobers again. Overall the product worked and we were happy with it. This worked great on my dog's irritated ear. It was a weekend AND a holiday, and my poor little guy was so uncomfortable. I couldn't find an open vet anywhere and the ER was packed. After a little research, I decided on the Zymox and found it at my local Petco, which was not only open, but open all day even though it was a holiday. I was so grateful — after the initial shock of me dumping oily stuff in his ear, my dog was more comfortable within an hour and much better within 12 hours. Great product. An old doggo with a history of ear "dirt" that required weekly cleaning, applied these drops for a week and the results were impressive. Using a cotton ball to remove the residue (and icky stuff), and she clearly hears better. My poor dog has floppy ears and has been shaking his head for weeks. He seemed to have some sort of infection and i tried my best to help him to no avail. I was a bit low on cash to take him to seek help with the vet so i did a search and came across this item. I saw the reviews but had doubts since my dog has been suffering. My dog went a few days with excessive "goop" from his eyes. Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. The gel-like substance is great to confirm that you got the gel where you want it to go. Went out one morning and caught a glimpse of what looked like a little scratch on my horses eye. Upon inspection the eye itself was untouched but the eyelid was cut about an inch long from the back corner towards the front. I cleaned it and figured I would just leave it alone. The next morning it was itchy and irritating her and REALLY swollen. I cleaned her up, applied the Vetericyn ophthalmolic gel, and put a patch over her eye to keep her from rubbing it and repeated this 4 times that day and removed the patch that evening to let it air. By the next morning all the swelling had completely subsided and it was no longer irritating her! This product helped me when my dog had an eye wart. The vet said it did not need to be removed until it got to the point that he was scratching at it or it started to affect his vision. During the time of it growing, it started to scab and bleed at times which made me get this product. The anti microbial wash helped keep bacteria out of his eye wart and helped keep infection away. Our dog Petal was diagnosed with PRA (Progressive Retinal Atrophy) when she was 5 years old. This disease usually starts in dogs who inherit it when they are between 4 and 6 years old. We were told there was nothing we could do about it and that she would be completely blind in about 1 year, 2 at the very most. We immediately started giving her Ocu-GLO and have given it to her every day since she was diagnosed. Her vision did indeed decline but much much slower than predicted. When she was 10 years old she still had some sight and it's only been in this past year (her 12th) that her vision has gotten drastically worse.. Even still, she's not totally blind. I don't know if Ocu-GLO had anything to do with this, but we felt it was worth trying and we continue to give it to her for overall eye health, including cataracts and possible inflammation from other issues. I recommend it to anyone who has a dog with PRA and would like a shot to preserve their vision for as long as possible.Susan
We have a 6.5 year old Brussels Griffon that has had a run of bad luck! She fell down a set of 3 stairs last October of 2013 and as a result, broke her elbow. After surgery and 3 casts with Dr. Dew an orthopedic surgeon, she is able to walk again. Her missing the stairs had me concerned about her eyesight so during the healing process, I found an ophthalmologist to examine her. Dr. Miller, stated that she did in fact have the onset of cataracts and that could have contributed to the fall however she also had retinal deterioration so she wasn't a good candidate for cataract removal. At his recommendation, we ordered Ocu-Glo RX and started taking the pills immediately. After 3 months we returned to see Dr. Miller and weren't given much hope but he said to continue taking the Ocu-Glo. We returned again for our 6 month check up and again, much of the same. Very disappointing news… However, yesterday we went for our 9 month checkup and were told that both eyes were developing cataracts and one was already very visible and he suspected the other one would be visible quite soon. Hello. My son's pit King, stays downstairs with me. Follows me everywhere, sleeps with me, he has been the best companion, and yes he even talks "smack" back to me if he doesn't get his own way. I stopped giving apoquel to my dog, not only because of the expense (costing more than $200 a month), but also because of all the reviews I have read about the danger to a dog's immune system with prolonged use. But my large German shepherd continued to scratch and scratch and scratch. After the first application of Skin Tonic Spray for Pets & People, his itching subsided greatly. I have intentionally waited to write a review because I wanted to give enough time to see if the Fidoplex was going to make a difference. I bought this supplement a year ago because my cavalier king charles spaniel had recently experienced two bad episodes with ivdd and she’s only 4 years old. We took our Newfie/Lab to the vet to get vaccinated for a training class. Shortly after his shots, he developed a skin allergy with two hot spots on each hip. I normally don't bath her but three times per year, being she is a healthy female she doesn't have hardly any odor except if she gets wet. Then for some strange reason she smells like a dog. My first impression was that it was great it came in a resealable bag to prevent leakage and spillage. I liked that it had two different ways to dispense, a pump and a flip cap. I chose the pump since on the bottle it says 3 pumps for a dog my dog's size. However, trying to get the pump open was quite a chore, but once I did have it open, it worked fine. However, it leaks badly. I have to put it back in the zip lock bag it came in and wrap a paper towel around the neck of the pump. It is now soaked with the product. The first pump doesn't dispense a full amount of product so I'm having to actually use 4 pumps for my dog instead of 3. I don't feel I'm giving her too much, but it won't last as long as it's supposed to for me. Which is why I gave it 4 stars. As far as whether it is benefitting my dog, I can't really say yet because it's only been a couple of weeks since and I have previously been giving her salmon oil. However, I don't see any decline in the softness of her coat and she doesn't scratch more than before. I do like the extra ingredients it has to further benefit my dog. I gave this product 4 stars rather than 5 only because the pump for the bottle I received does not work. I tried, and I asked a friend to try it without success in both cases, so I believe it is a defective pump. I have used a product similar to this in the past and have also researched the best supplements for my greyhounds over the past 22 years. The last salmon oil supplement I purchased (one of the best on the market and recommended to me) contained 29% Omega-3 fatty acid compared to this brand’s 42.9%, 11% DHA compared to this product’s 13.7%, and 11% EPA compared to this product’s 20.2%: huge differences! The price difference between the 2 products is about a dollar. Naturally, I will switch brands. The “fishy” smell is not too strong; however, it is enough to get my girls’ attention. I have a Bichon whose tear ducts never developed. The eyes constantly tear, resulting in some very awful tear staining. I have used Angels Eyes for a little over two years now. My dog won't touch the powdered version even when mixed into canned dog food. He thinks the tablets are a treat and cannot wait until the next dose. I have tried both types, the one with the mild anti-biotic and the natural type. I think the anti-biotic type works a little bit better than the natural type, but I don't think it is made any longer. I even looked at Angels Eyes site and it is not listed. The natural chews work pretty well, although I give my dog one more tablet than the recommended dose. Drs. Foster and Smith has a very good price on this product and the delivery is very quick. I plan on purchasing more from them.michael1538
I've used Angel eyes twice over 7 years and it has always worked great for my little 5lb Pappillon. His eyes started weaping again so I first used the powder. The container was nearly empty and no change. Then I discovered it came in a chew, which is soooo much handier, so bought a container and continued giving it to him. He loves the taste, but that's not the problem. He finished the powder and is about halfway thru the chews and still no change. Odd. Previously by now the problem was solved and he was good for a couple years, but now no change. Worked in veterinary for 23 years. Could go on with stories about this product forever. One example, elderly man called me crying saying his allergy doctor told him he had to get rid of his cats. His cats were middle aged and in that area likely not to be adopted. His cats were his family and all he really had in life after his wife died. I suggested he try Allerpet first before going to that extreme. I told him he should have the cats bathed with an unscented, soap-free shampoo and then combed out thoroughly by someone else. When that was done, I told him to bring them in and I would show him how to apply Allerpet-C against the lay of the coat, all over the body, with a washcloth. This he could do himself once a week thereafter. He followed my instructions exactly and was able to enjoy and love his cats for many more years. I have seen this story play out hundreds of times. I have never understood why allergists don't recommend it to all their patients to at least try. The doctor's first thought is always get rid of the cats and many times this means euthanasia of a healthy animal. Happy to see Entirely Pets carries it. It’s most effective if you groom Your cat first to remove excess fur and who knows what. Furthermore do it in successive days. Groom, apply stuff. Next day too. Repeat. Keep repeating. After 70 years of having cats I suddenly got an allergy which literally incapacitated me. I didn’t believe it was an allergy until the ENT doc insisted it was, echoing my general practice doc. This stuff has been a lifesaver but you must be diligent.Elizabeth
