I thought I was getting a pack of 4 balls but I only got two. I received the basketball and baseball themed balls. They are awesome for my medium sized dog. She is a big chewer and was ripping open regular tennis balls. It’s hard to find balls that are durable for chewers and that don’t squeak so I was happy to find these. I think I got the larger ones which means my medium sized dog can’t really get a good enough grip on them to destroy them but she can still pick them up in her mouth. My pup dog, Bear, and I absolutely love the chuckit brand of dog toys and fun! Chuckit! Has the best durability in terms of dog balls. Our dog is a 90 to 100 pound Catahoula leopard dog and he plays hard, fast, and constantly! The chuckit toys always seem to stand up to his consistent and rough play. He will constantly chew their balls over and over and over and it takes a really long time for them to get any form of hole in them which is a big change from other balls/tennis balls. The fluffy tennis style balls are easier fof my lurcher and sprollie to find as the fluff holds scent better than the smooth rubber ones. The smooth ones last AGES I have lost a few now but not had any break. The fluff does come off the fluffy ones and they do break but they are more resilient than cheapo ones. These are made to be thrown/retrieved, not for the chewers. The one I started with hasn't been totally destroyed yet, so they are somewhat durable but I think it's mostly due to other cheaper balls that I have offered for destruction instead. Our beautiful shelter pup came to us already addicted to having a tennis ball in her mouth at all times (even when barking!). No other type of ball will do. So when we found Tuff Balls, which last many days longer than an ordinary tennis ball, we gobbled them up. The outer felt seems to hold up well without tearing until very well used. They are also very resistant to tearing into half. They hold up to water throws with no problems, float well, and are very visible in slightly brownish water. The orange color really stands out in even long uncut green grass. I bought these for my medium sized lab/shepherd puppy. Within 2 or 3 minutes, while I was watching him to make sure he didn't tear the ball up, he bit straight through the ball and ripped part of the orange coating off. His teeth went through it so fast that I couldn't stop him. I thought maybe it was just a bad one, so I tried playing fetch with him later with a second one and the same thing happened just from throwing it and having him retrieve it. I wanted to like these, but I think you're better off with regular tennis balls from the sporting goods department. They seem a lot tougher than these.HoosierMama12

The ball is certainly great for standard use if your dog is just about playing fetch or chasing the ball around. But if your dog is a strong chewer, these tennis balls are not durable. I have a two year old Siberian Husky who loves to chew on things, including her tennis balls after she gets tired of chasing them around. She’s torn several of these Petco tennis balls into pieces in a matter of minutes, versus a gently used regular tennis ball that we found in the yard that took her well over a month to even pierce and split in half. The only reason I keep giving her the Petco tennis balls is because I bought several at once and want to use them up before I buy regular tennis balls. On the plus side, my husky continues to play with the torn up ball even after it’s already been obliterated so she gets at least a solid day out of it. I purchased this ball last week. It was the perfect size to teach my dogs to play fetch. My dachshund, Max, is ahead of the class since he is the only one that actually goes to fetch the ball. His siblings just chase him and try to get the ball from him. I guess his version is called "tag the doxie". Lol. Go with the flow. Bought for my 8-week-old Scottie pup to play with, but the hair/fuzz comes off extremely easily, which my puppy immediately would rather try to eat than play with the toy. We still have fun rolling it around the floor, but I'd say to watch your pup closely when playing with it to make sure nothing gets ingested. There are probably better tennis balls out there.SarahD0906
