My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I highly recommend this product. I’ve been using Zymox for years. My terrier mix has Ear Edge Dermatitis. It’s incurable and usually tears up the edges of the ear from constant cell overgrowth (auto immune) and dogs will be plagued with constant ear issues and itching. When I notice him itching, I put a few drops in ear and massage into ear canals, then rub into the edges of ears. Do this for a couple days, itching stops, ears are clean and have a healthy pink look. It’ll be several weeks before he starts itching again. I had used this before, without success for my cocker spaniel. So, this was my 2nd attempt. It worked great in 1 ear, but not the other. I've always liked Zymox products, but this one really impressed me! GSD/BC mix has had continual ear issues since having a hematoma drained in her right ear. The ear lays over and is full of thicker tissue which seems to hold in a ton of moisture. This last bout of pain and scratching was making her (and me!) absolutely crazy and, after a week of use, the regular Zymox I always have on hand just wasn't cutting it. I did a bit of searching and found the Zymox plus advanced formula and figured I'd give that a try before resorting to a vet visit, antibiotics, steroid drops, etc. After the second day of use, she stopped shaking her head, scratching and whining. I am a vet assistant, and I see all kinds of animals coming in with different skin conditions or allergies and always felt so bad for them and their owners….. then I got a dog with allergies and then I found out what it's really like…. it is devastating watching your dog itch and scratch to the point of pulling their hair out, then when the hair is gone… then there goes their skin…. they will make themselves bleed and still won't stop. He hasn't had any issues for over a year now and although sometimes he scratches its more of a normal itch. This medication literally saved him and my sanity. Have had pain, aches and muscle inflammation for years particularly on my left knee, ankle and foot; to make matters worse about a year ago the Dr. diagnosed me with an osteoarthritic knee; before that time and since have used many products and devices (non-prescription) seeking to alleviate pain and inflammation. I have an English Cocker, with long heavy ears. She is prone to ear infections. My vet recommended this product. I put it into both ear canals, and then rub the top of the ears for 30 seconds, making sure I get that wet, squishy sound. I do it three times a week, and she has not had an ear infection for 2 years! The only negative is that it has a little bit of a chemical/perfume smell while it is still wet. As soon as it dries, there is no smell. When the house is cold, I put the container in the microwave for about 5 seconds. No its like everything else I have tried does not work I can't even get my cats to get it down. When I first got it I let my cat smell it and he literally gagged (should have stopped there)?then I put it in a syringe and gave it to him and he threw up right after I gave it to him. My 20 y.o. senior cat has had upper respiratory issues since he was 1 year old, but had gotten so chronic and so bad that he has literally had a stuffy nose and sneezing for an entire year straight. It was really draining his energy. Even in the summer, he was spending all day in his heated bed. The only thing my vet knew of that might help was an off-label use of Cerenia, which is expensive and was hard to get him to take. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. I have a mare who has super sensitive skin. She was out to pasture in the spring and before I could notice the gnats got to her belly and it was bad. She had hair falling out, was rubbed raw, swollen, itchy, scabby… I used this with a combo of fly/gnat spray every night after brushing and it was magically healed in a week. I've used this for quite some time after not being able to get a different product anymore. The vet wanted to sell me a product with green-lipped mussel and New Zealand deer antler velvet. I'm not falling for the idea that New Zealand deer has more effective velvet. I couldn't find deer velvet here (yet), but did find this product with green-lipped mussel. I has other ingredients I like as well, including Green Tea extract, Hyaluronic acid, and Boswellia. If your dog only has regular arthritis, this product alone may be enough. I find that I have to supplement additionally for my very arthritic dog. However, the vet said he had 3 months at best before he'd go down and we'd have to put him down. When reading the info on this product you could be excused for thinking if its half as good as it says its worth giving it a try.
