Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. No its like everything else I have tried does not work I can't even get my cats to get it down. When I first got it I let my cat smell it and he literally gagged (should have stopped there)?then I put it in a syringe and gave it to him and he threw up right after I gave it to him. My 20 y.o. senior cat has had upper respiratory issues since he was 1 year old, but had gotten so chronic and so bad that he has literally had a stuffy nose and sneezing for an entire year straight. For those of you scratching your head wondering why Angel Eyes is no longer working, the news isn't good. I have a Pomapoo and a Bichon and the original wipes worked like a miracle and my four-legged babies had clean eyes always. Then the change happened. The miracle ingredient was removed about three years ago. I have tried many products and nothing works as well for my dogs. I'm glad that some of you still find some various forms of the product to your standards. Currently I use a fragrance free lotion, careful to put just a thin coating on the stain, rubbing it in gently to soften the hard crusty eye secretions and as it softens, gently use a small pet brush or fingers depending what works best for you and your pet. I have been using this on My Maltese for many years, used to have antibiotic in it which I believed was the active ingredient that was working, and you had to get it from the U.S. Due to U.K. laws on this without prescription. I love Vetericyn! My mare used to get eye ulcers and infections during the summer, even with a fly mask do to her fly sensitivity. I use vetericyn once a day to flush her eyes out and it has saved in vet bills and the use of steroid antibiotic ointment. It's completely safe for the eyes. I was reluctant to buy this stuff because it seemed pricey but it was well worth it. I have had to kill my chickens when their eyes got too bad but since I found this, it has saved at least 3 or 4. I received this product in exchange for a fair and honest review. At first I had to get past the smell but my frenchie loves them. The treats themselves are a nice size. They are a bit on the crumbly side. When he ate them he left plenty of crumbs on the floor which my Aussie gladly cleaned up. I think these would be better crumbled up and mixed in food rather than given as single treats. I gave these treats to my frenchie over a three week period. I can report that I did not see a significant reduction in the tear stains but I appreciated the knowledge that my bulldog was getting the added benefit of antioxidant & immunity support.
This product is great. My pup has issues with dry eyes and the skin around his eyes gets dry. He also gets buildup in the area near his tear duct. I got him this since I already trust the brand from using their other products. I followed directions provided for just over ten days. By the fifth day I noticed the ridges around his eyes look moister. He was not blinking as much, and his tear ducts did not have dry buildup. He has no issues taking the product like he does with some others. I am really impressed with the overall results and how quick it helped. The price for what my puppy got makes me very happy.
I am really amazed with all of the Zesty Paws products that I have given my pups but these Tear Stain Bites are by far the best! Two of my four dogs are Chihuahuas and they both have really bad tear stains, I was wiping their eyes more than 10 times a day, literally. After giving my babies these supplements just once I saw a HUGE difference in their tears stains, they didn't go away completely but I would say that they are 75% better. The amount of gunk coming from their eyes is so much less and I am only wiping their eyes about half as much now. I have an almost 5 year old golden who absolutely hates having his teeth brushed. He has had seriously terrible tarter and plaque build up (and bad breath) and I was seriously considering have him put under for a deep teeth cleaning. I started using this stuff twice a day, sprinkled and shaken with his dry kibble. I wasn't expecting anything major, but y'all the results are seriously AMAZING!!!! The tarter and plaque has all but disappeared from his teeth (especially his back molars and front upper canines) without any brushing at all, and his breath is significantly better. His teeth are significantly whiter and cleaner looking, and I swear they almost sparkle again like when he was a young lass when we're outside in the sunlight. He's had no side effects and doesn't seem to mind the taste of the powder at all. I am absolutely purchasing again!!! Also some reviews mention an overpowering odor…I have a strong nose and while there is a smell to it, it's not a bad smell and is certainly not overpoweringly strong! I started using this a few years ago. It does a good job of keeping the tartar from hardening on the dog’s teeth. I still wipe the teeth a few times a week and they clean up with just a dental wipe. The other thing that this does is prevent tear and saliva stains. I discovered that when I ran out, a few years back, and didn’t reorder right away. My white chihuahua’s tear stains came back, as soon as it was out of her system. And my other chihuahua that licks his white paws, turned brown again. I cannot figure out how this works to be honest and nothing I've read is particularly helpful. But . . . whenever our boys go to the vet and have their teeth checked we are told what good condition their teeth are in. I have been adding Zesty Paws products to my dogs meals for years now. I started buying their probiotics because of the awful gas at night. That stopped immediately. Now I feed my dogs raw food. I supplement their food with various Zesty Paws products. I just started to purchase Senior Zesty Paws because my vet told me that my large dogs need Senior supplements. My dogs love all of the flavors too!
I have a 12 year old German Shepherd/Border Collie mix, who weights approximately 65 lbs. I was interested in these supplements for brain cognition support. For her weight category, it is suggested that I give 2 soft chews daily (there are 90 chews in a tub). At current review time, this tub is priced at $37. This product doesn't have the most omega 3 (Epa/Dha) supplementation, nor does it have the least of pet products. The chews are supposed to be chicken flavored, but they smell like a strange cross of fish, chicken, and something I can not place. The chews are soft, so they would be easy for senior dogs to eat. I had to mix these chews in with my dog's food, as she would not eat them plain. So far, I have not noticed any change, difference, or improvement(s) in my dog's health with these supplements. For these above reasons, I am giving a 3 out of 5 rating.
I received the Omega Bites, so wanted to test how my dogs liked them. I made sure to read the instructions and ingredients before hand. Everything in them seems to be decent, and I felt comfortable giving them to my fur babies. Upon opening, I couldn't stand the smell, it's very fishy. I tried them with my Chihuahua first, he wanted no part of them. Second I tried to give one to my standard poodle, which eats about everything, she also wanted nothing to do with them. Lastly I gave one to my lab mix and she is the only one who actually liked them. That's ok though as she is older and extra vitamins are good. Over all they are ok.
