Bought a second collar to be able to sync with my existing collar and two-channel controller. The new collar uses a different power mode and syncing system and is not compatible with the older version, so you will have to just carry two controllers. Still a good product. DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF ILL DESIGNED JUNK!!!!! The buttons are ill conceived with the "Mode" button large and center. The mode button changes the collar from light, tone, vibrate or shock. The "fire" button is located in the upper right and is hard to locate-impossible without looking at the unit so this piece of junk is useless for what it was supposedly designed to do. You will spend your time screwing around with the control unit rather than giving your dog timely correction and input. And it HAS NO LOCK BUTTON!!!! It will fire accidently and at level 99 and SHOCK YOUR DOG FOR NO REASON!! Don't waste your money on this piece of GARBAGE!Marie
The default settings are made to cover any liability of the manufacture, there to low to have any effect on the dog. I had to increase the intensity on all modes I have only used this a few times but suspect this won`t be strong enough to train my dog. I really liked the quality of this training system. Over all the Pro system works as described. However, the collar attached to this system is longer than needed and shortening the strap is questionable given the contact wire that runs through the strap. Also, the strap would be more beneficial to be a snap locking system rather than a buckle. As my dog recognizes the purpose of the collar, she is not a fan, and likes to put up some resistance when having it placed on her. Given a snap system would take seconds to secure rather than a wrestling match.Runningguard
I did a lot of research on ecollars before deciding to purchase this one. I got this for a dog that is a rescue who has had some major behavior issues. I use the collar for training and he is excelling at everything. The only thing I would caution would not be specific to this ecollar but to all ecollars. Watch the fit. The band stretches after it's worn a few times and needs to be tightened on the dog's neck. Be sure to start out at the lowest level and only go up in slight increments until your dog reacts to the zap. This will prevent you from using more power than needed. I have three dogs and will be purchasing additional collars for my other two dogs. All three can work from this one remote. Switching from dog to dog is done by simply turning a dial.justjen
I’m very satisfied with the R.A.P.T. 1400, the remote is very user friendly and I’m so happy to have a back of the hand setup. Battery life on the collar itself seems to be much improved over my previous models of collar. My one and only complaint is the collar itself is already starting to separate layers, fraying at the feed point and I’ve had to trim and tape twice in less than a month of use (my other collars took years for this to happen). Training is quite enjoyable with the ergonomics of the remote and the programmable quick button is definitely a nice touch. This was exactly as described. I really like the quick release. Makes it much easier to put on and take off my dog. We were unable to walk our dog before this collar. He would pull to the point of choking himself out. We tried several collars and harnesses before going with the Prong collar. It took a couple of days to get him used to wearing the collar. I didn't think this would work on the 1st day. He pulled hard and it pinched him. He got scared and refused to move. We were patient worked with him slowly, 5 minutes at a time. I purchased this collar after ordering the same collar on Amazon only to be disappointed with a generic prong collar made in China (I've seen more than one supposed "Herm Sprenger" product have this problem on Amazon – that is, advertising the real thing and then shipping out something generic.) I started using this type of collar on my first German Shepherd and needed a second collar after getting him a brother. Herm Sprenger prong collar brought about immediate change in a previous out-of-control lab. I watched several YouTube videos to learn how to train a dog with this collar – a must do! Finally, I found the perfect system for my needs. have two dogs on the collar for walking. I walk them in the woods and sometimes they'll run off to chase something. I use the collar to keep them in check but still allow them to run. I've tried three other training collars and my issues with all were- 1. I had to re-connect the collars to the transmitter after each recharge. 2. Switching quickly between the dogs took too many steps to switch. 3- The range of them were not as advertised. This system solves everyone of those issues. It's the best one I've found that has no programming after charge. The charge last longer. No 9v battery required to transmitter. Our lab/retriever cross became frightened of loud noises, using the collar has steadily improved the situation. It doesn't work immediately, be patient for a week or even two. A noise de-sensitisation CD (follow the instructions exactly) will also help considerably. Just check the tightness of the collar every few days because some dogs will scratch at it and can occasionally loosen it slightly – when cutting off the excess length leave an inch so that it doesn't fall off if the dog does scratch at it (they soon stop).Nicholas J

Our 16 year old terrier became terrified of the car about a year ago – hyperventilating, fighting to get out – heartbreaking and we couldn't take her any further than our dogminders so we could go out on business. I have had training collars that cost north of $200. This collar des more and is perfect for dog training. I can normally use only sound, sometimes vibrate and very seldom have to resort to "shock". When I have though I never have to do it again to correct that behavior problem. Only thing I noticed annoying is the firmness required on the buttons. Our dog is still loving and playful, but is no longer terrorizing the house. I am eating right next to her and she's simply chewing on a toy. Before, I could never leave her out of her cage unless I was directly on top of her. I combine verbal commands with either vibration or beeping, and treats. I haven't tried the shock, and I hope I never have to. I don't see how it would shock because there is rubber over the electrodes… Also, it is disappointing to see the amount of people on here who say they bought this to essentially electrocute their dogs simply because they got breeds they have no idea how to handle. Do I know how to handle a gigantic, stubborn dog? Absolutely not, and that's why I got one that fits my abilities. Dogs are a hug decision. For many people, you do need to shop around a lot until you find your friend. You can't walk into a shelter or store and pick up just any dog and expect everything to work out.
This helped immediately. He was already aware of the beeping because of the underground fence. This helped let him know very quickly to stop the behavior that was making him hard to handle. I highly recommend this. My dog is a German Shepard mix and he did feel the shock the few times we had to use it.
I have had this for a few weeks and I'm very happy. New puppy did not want to listen this is a great tool because you have the beep the vibration and the shock.I have never had to use anything but the beep most of the time and the vibration once in awhile have never used the shock. It works great would highly recommend. never have to touch the dog, or raise your voice.
