I have a two pound yorkie-chi mix about 10 inches long and she loves her console lookout! She has always been sitting in a lap or on a blanket and it was not very safe for her, plus on long trips it can be rather annoying. She still would prefer a lap, but she likes being able to see out. I've used these for years. I wouldn't travel without one. Has saved my girls from being thrown around if I have to hit the breaks or when I was rear ended. I have been using these car seats for many years now, have even given them as gifts. Absolutely the best product out there. I currently have a 5 lb. Yorker who loves hanging out the window. There is no other product on the market that gives her that ability. My son lost her look out seat, so I went to PetSmart and purchased another model. The whole ride home she sat there and whimpered. The tether that came with the car seat broke when I was adjusting it after only one use. The seat itself kept shifting to the side, even though my dogs' combined weight was half of the published weight limit. Overall it was a disaster on every front. GW Little arranged for us to get a full refund–great customer service as always! We had to pay to ship it back to the manufacture, which was about 1/3 of the purchase price, but at least we got a refund. I have since learned that Snoozer seats fail crash tests and do not provide your dog with the security they would have you believe. Please go to the website for the Center for Pet Safety and watch these videos for yourself and learn of safer options for your beloved pet. I know that they all love to look out, but wouldn't you rather they stay alive in case of an accident? GWL: The tether strap should not have broke, especially from only making an adjustment. We'd love to know what broke on it. The seats need to be secured tightly by your car's seat belt, otherwise it could slide around. Snoozer seats never claim to be crash-proof. Harnesses are the safety devices, not seats. Using a Lookout car seat, and tethering your dog provides safety by keeping them restrained and not distracting the driver. They make no claims against protecting your dog in case of an accident. There's a big difference and still a great deal of research needs to be done on providing a safe environment for pets in case of a crash.Susan
I have been using the lookout car seat for years. I have purchased them AND recommended them to many friends with new and old dogs. This was a replacement for one of my older carseats whose side foams were starting to break down from taking the covers on and off over years and washing them. I like the improvement in the nicer fabrics that has a nice zipper bottom. Previous one has the basic elastic edges so it pulled alot at the sides when trying to get back on. Of I have had the medium seat I am replacing for probably 8 plus years. I like this microsuede OK but i think I prefer the upgraded fabric covers I purchased in last 2 years or so. I think they are a bit nicer which is why I gave it a 4 instead of a 5. Positively I had a friend who had a 10 year old poodle that HATED car rides. Hmmm, same size small (as the high back seat) but it is actually smaller. I would have preferred this one over the luxury high back model but it was narrower in width. It allows more space for driver, not imposing as much as high back. My boy is 7bs so I think this seat is better for up to 5 lbs. After reading the reviews I was skeptical but I’m so glad I ordered the Snoozer Console despite some of the comments. I have a small 5 lb yorkie and I purchased the Small. To give perspective I have a Lexus NX and the small fit perfectly and was easy to install. I’m really not sure what some of the other reviews were complaining about. It’s really a no brainer installation. The carrier is luxurious and well padded with the benefits of keeping my little pup safe. She can look out the window while being close to me. The seat fits onto the console of my car, however the straps, particularly the one that goes onto the lid does not fit. The tongue of the buckle is adjustable, but the clip is not. Unfortunately, this results in not being able to close the lid. If both were adjustable, i could position the buckle under the lid so it does not prevent the lid from closing. If the front seats of the car were in a forwardmost position, they would work fine, however because both driver and passenger have long legs, the seats are positions a bit further back. This results in the console seat being pulled to the rear of the console and ends up with about 3" overhang on the back of the console — resulting in alot of shifting and movement of the seat. As a result, my dog is refusing to use the seat and I have no other solutions.Anonymous

I bought this item a couple weeks ago for my crested mix. He is my rescue who didn't know what the outside world was, so when it came to car rides he would refuse to get in and once he was in the vehicle the poor guy would shake all the time. This car dog bed achieved everything I wanted it to. I used it for a 12 hour road trip for my dog (pictured next to my kitty’s mobile space). It keeps my dog secure (the built in straps to leash her on are great) and the “arms” are nice plush and sturdy. At first I felt the bottom could use a bit more padding but since my dog is anxious and doesn’t actually sleep much in the car, it worked out better that way vs adding an extra blanket or something. I did also separately purchase a back seat extender mat thing simply because I got the size of bed that extends across two seats, and like most cars, the middle seat is a bit raised making the surface uneven. So the extender not only bridged the gap between my front and back seats (which was not an issue at all for this bed btw) but helped level the surface the bed was on.Chantelle N.
My pup really seems to enjoy this car bed. He’s only 3 months old so it’s a little bigger than needed (currently 14 lbs but could get up to 30lbs). It does take up a large portion of the backseat of our SQ5 but that’s not a problem for us as we don’t have children (only fur children). We Paw’s pup lounge topper inside this bed and it kinda looks so luxurious that I want to lay in it too! Best part, is that the topper is completely washable! So on days like today, after a dirty 5k, we can just pop it in the washing machine. We also own at least 4 of the large blankets to protect our beds and paw’s memory foam bed for our bedroom. The first time we used it for our Pomeranian she wasn't sure about it, and wanted out. The next time she snugged in right off, and was content for quite awhile. I do find she needs to get out and walk around if the ride is too long, however, it is comfortable, and the fit is perfect for her size (5 lbs and very fuzzy).
