Jump Restraint Dog Harness For Sale (2024 Update)

As I previously stated I bought two of these harnesses in two different sizes. A small and a medium as I was not sure which would work. The small is a great fit for my 13 lb Shih Tzu. But this is summer and she is shaved down. I am going to use the medium size for winter to go over her sweaters and coats. She is also is not shaved down for colder weather so I tend to buy larger sizes for the colder seasons. Besides the price was great.Marlene D

This is the best harness I have ever had for my lil shih tzu/yorkie mix. The only thing is he does not like me having to put his legs thru it and does not like anything being put over his head other than that its awesome! Absolutely love it! Seems like good construction. I liked the pads on top to prevent pinching, but overall, it is still the same standard harness you can get everywhere. Unfortunately, I am still on the hunt for a good harness to use for running with my dog. The harness rubbed under his armpits and rubbed them raw. To be fair, though, my dog pulls during a lot of the run.SandyB

The look of the harness is great however the material cannot stand up to chewing which is not covered under warranty. I bought one yesterday and this morning I left to get breakfast and when I got back 20 minutes later he had chewed through one of the straps and had taken a chuck out of the nylon canvas chest piece. Very disappointed in the product and was hoping it was made better and would hold up for years like their jackets have.Brady

Rugged ,tough , durable harness . Works like it should . It takes a little time to get a proper adjustment , unless your dog is growing it's a one time thing . We like it better than other harnesses we have . I find it laughable that people would give a poor review because their dog chewed on it . That's on the owner and their poor dog . It's not the harness' fault .steve

We have a slender, silky coated hound who is wiggly, at just a year. She appears to be a mix of greyhound and Rhodesian ridgeback, very muscular. She can slip out of many harnesses that are not covering enough of her torso. We put on the tactical vest, and not only did it fit well and give ud more control and confidence on the leash, but it relieved my fears of Penny breaking out in a dead run to who-knows-where. ) she does have a chip). We are happy with the tactical vest! Yes, Penny has a long neck, barrel chest, and narrow abdomen. I'm so glad she has a safe and humane way to guide her.vnor67

I have a pit/lab mix, and he hasn't been on many walks, even though he needs to to cut down a few extra lbs. I looked at the sizing chart, and he was right in between the 2 sizes, so I went with the bigger one because I wanted him to be comfortable. I dont know if size had anything to do with it, but I couldn't get it to lay flat on him. It comes with several adjustment spots, so I can make sure it fits him good. He seems to really like it, as compared to other harnesses we have used with him. The material is nice and padded, it seemed very comfortable for my dog. The leash attachment is also in a really good place to pull at his chest and not his neck. In the time using this, I have not noticed any issues with the zipper or with the quality. When we rescued our Westie/poodle mix, he had never walked on a leash and fought us to the point that we had to carry him a few blocks and then try to leash walk. This Stash and Dash harness is great. It is so easy to take off and on that Remy doesn't seem to notice. When I use the hook at the bottom of the harness he stops pulling and tugging. Added bonus is the fact you can pack it up into its own attached backup. Awesome product. He is 20 pounds and I got the small. Good fit with room to grow.Marti

This is a great harness because it is breathable and doesn't make my dog too hot. It also packs up into a small package that can be attached to a bag by the included caliber clip. You can also pack snacks and a little food in the pouch while your pup is wearing it. It also has nice metal clips at the chest and the rear of the front of the harness under the pouch. This is good for pups that like to pull instead of being led.Ladywolf1979

I have only had this for a month but this harness was a game changer on walks with my 1 year old Pitt-Rott-Eng Mast mix pup who loves to get out of his collar and leash, and then makes you chase him down. Because Im still training him on walks I only used the front loop which has helped him stop pulling me on our walks, as the front ring is design to give a slight hug to them when there is stoppage to the leash to reminding them not to pull. All in all, I love it and it helped me reclaim master of the walks, but my trouble maker pup does not lol.Silver

We have a lab puppy who is a challenge to walk. We had another similar harness that would constantly go out of adjustment. This one slides at the pressure points so when they pull it tightens automatically. So much better than the other one.Theodore

I used this harness for the first time last night, and it is the best harness for a pulling dog that I have used to date. When I walk my dog, that is a hyperactive Dalmatian mix, she pulls a lot. She pulls hard enough that she will get up on her hind legs. When using this item last night she pulled less than she ever has. I would not only recommend this harness to anyone, I was so impressed that I just got one for my friends dog. If you have a dog that pulls or just want a high quality harness, this is the one for you!Josh

Ranger my mini-Aussie got to try this gear out on a hike in the mountains of NC. Sizing seemed to be good and after 3 days I didn’t see any areas where it was rubbing. The handles on the top allowed me to pull him out of a creek when he fell in off a down tree we were using to cross. There are some reflective areas which made him easy to find around camp at night. My only suggestion would be to have the option for hunter orange as a color.Brian34

I love the look and fit of this Harness. My dog is a 38lb terrier mix that can be a little hard to fit for harnesses because of his shape. A lot of harnesses rub his armpits, this harness fits him great. I used the measurement guide and chose a medium, it fits great. I really like the versatility of this harness, from being able to clip the leash top or front, and then being able to add packs and hydration bladders, etc. The craftsmanship is the high quality that Kurgo products always deliver.WhiteMountainNH

I followed the sizing guide on the website to get this harness for my mastiff/lab cross. He is more the size of a lab than a mastiff but ended up getting the largest one. He LOVES it and knows it’s hike time when we brake it out. We just bought a first aid kit and a pannier for it as well. If you attach it through the two loops, as I suspect they are supposed to be, they lay on his back NOT his sides. If you attach them to just the bottom loop they sit on his sides kind off BUT as soon as he starts moving the entire harness turns sideways and he has the first aid kit on his back and the pannier on his belly. Also there is LOTS of area’s kind of shredding, lots of stringer threads hanging from everywhere. We will be trying to return this item this week. Another problem is the snaps pop off the pannier and first aid kit when the dog brushes against anything. I thought there would be velcro on them, as there is tons of Velcro on the harness, but there is none.Dorkside

First, like someone else mentioned in the review. The harness attracts heat, it can easily overheat a dog in the warm summer days. I would recommend designing the harness so it has cooling pads. I love the front leash loop, I wish more of the ruffwear harnesses had both back and front loops. This harness is better in the winter months, I would not recommend wearing this harness during hotter days during the summer. My dog is an escape artist, has gotten away from several harnesses and collars, including several ruffwears harnesses until I found this harness. The three straps works wonders, she can't figure out how to get out of this harness and she hasn't yet. Only problem is that this harness can get super hot and the second problem is that the front padding is not really doing it's job. The adjustments are hidden and the front padding covers it up, however it feels like a rock and it puts pressure on the dogs chest if using back loop clip. I only use the front loop clip leash attachment which prevents any damage to the chest. I hope this helps, hopefully you can design a new version of this harness, I think all your customers would appreciate it 🙂 Overall, I would still recommend this product, though it does has it's flaws I purchased this harness from REI, so it may not say that the review is verified. I purchased the Switchbak primarily for hiking but ended up using it for Search & Rescue training. I really wouldn’t recommend it for either for a number of reasons. First off, the top is heavily padded and holds in body heat. The padding is totally unnecessary and an overheated dog in the back country can be pretty serious. Second, the pockets are almost useless unless they have equal amounts of weight on each side. I don’t load my dog with weight but just the weight of a 2’ leash in one pocket is enough to cause the harness to twist. Third, the D-ring placement is totally inadequate for a trailing dog. It’s too far forward and it causes the lead to get caught on the dog’s rear legs when making turns while trailing. In my opinion, the people designing these harnesses either lack experience handling working dogs or simply did not think through the design of the product. Unfortunately, this seems to be an issue across the Ruffwear line.Justin

Let me start out by saying that I love walking…I mean its kinda my stick, and since my dogs love sticks, (numerous can be found while walking), its a win-win; however, what isn’t so fun is carrying all the stuff required on a hot summer day, while walking or riding my bike. Bottled water, poopie bags, used poopie bags…don’t you love that left over poopie bag smell. No matter where I put the bag, there is always a little residual smell, and although the leashes I bought have a place to tie them after use, the feeling of a cold poop filled bag slapping against my waist as I walk….annoying to say the least. So, giving my dog pockets was the best solution…carry your own poop! The bag is not huge at all, so if you are a hiker and want your dog to carry some weight, this is not the tool for you. What it can carry is two water bladders (one on each side) with about 16oz of water each, a poopie bag roll, and one or two full poopie bags (as the water bladders empty). I have even had my girl carry my phone when both water bladders were not necessary. This is the maximum though. The side pockets do not expand, so the more you shove in there, the more the harness will stick out away from the dogs body. I will also add that my dog has issues with a lot of harnesses rubbing away her fur. I first ordered the Front Range harness for my Great Pyrenees and Lab. It worked well for the Pyrenees, but with the lab it rubbed away a huge patch of fur on her chest and even started to get little scabs. I then exchanged it for this harness, and her hair has completely grown back with no additional rubbing anywhere else. I only wish it came in pink, as everyone thinks she is a boy, but I thought the blue was the best looking color. Thank you again Ruffwear!Brittney K.

I bought this in a medium a week ago and I've used it around 2-3 times already. I have a maltipoo and she has a tendency to pull and try to go faster/farther and it would cause her to choke in her previous harness. However, not a single time since I've started using this has she choked/gagged. The sizing is a bit off for her though, since a small is too tight but a medium is too loose (but the medium isn't loose enough for it to be unsafe/falling). This harness is true to its name and is so helpful for dogs that try pulling and end up choking. It's also super softer than her old one. I also bought a small for my yorkie and I think she loves it! Normally she hates harnesses but this one she doesn't seem to mind! I feel like it makes her more comfortable when she's walking as her previous ones weren't the most softest like this. It is a bit pricey for me, but I was able to get it on sale! Choke-free, soft and comfortable!mjp21

I just purchased this harness yesterday in a size Medium for my 16 lbs Beagle mix. It ripped completely in half after only having her wear it for 2 hours. It fit perfectly which is why I gave it 2 stars, but it should have lasted for more than 2 hours. Definitely not worth my money.Zoie Mom

This is my third Gooby harness. Small size worked well when she was a puppy. She outgrew the Small we got her a medium and there was a small sign of tearing on this harness when we upgraded her to large. We got her the large pink and the fabric tore in half. The black fabric on the edge was the only thing keeping it together. Our dog weighs 18lbs but she’s built like a tank. If you have a dog that pulls I wouldn’t recommend this harness. If your dog is well behaved and doesn’t pull you should be good to go.Goobys with tears

First the Pros: this harness is durable and I have no doubt it is strong and durable enough to hold my 70lb pittie when needed. It also does a great job of keeping her from pulling when using the chest loop. We love the Ruffwear brand and I (and my dogs) love the sweaters/clothing as they are always cold in temps below 70°. Cons: I watched the video on fitting the harness and every single walk results in raw skin/bleeding/scabs under her armpits (she has very thin fur on her underside) due to the material of the harness rubbing in this area. I also find the buckles a bit difficult to unclip as they are partially hidden inside the attachment area which means you have to squeeze the buckle through the thick harness material to release the clasp. Because of my love of their other products and the front clip feature, I may try to put some padding or softer material in the underarm area to see if that helps.Melissa S.

For the most part I really like this harness. The construction seems sturdy and the color is nice, and it’s very easy to get on and off. That said, I think it could be improved by lengthening the body (the neck to back, if you will). I have two mixed breed dogs who are very similar in shape, size, and weight. I purchased two of these harnesses, one in extra small and one in small. The small is overall a bit too large around, and the small (although ok for girth) is way too short. I am always trying to keep an eye on their underarms and backs of their elbows to make sure they aren’t getting raw spots. I’ve seen the same issue in other reviews, so I don’t think it’s just my dogs. I would also love it if you could purchase extenders in different sizes, because I think often a smaller size is better all around, but doesn’t extend in girth quite enough, while the next size up is too big. The good still outweighs the not perfect though, and I keep coming back to Ruffwear to buy different styles of harnesses!Samantha N.

So, I had been waiting until our pup was close to full grown to invest in this harness, as it's a bit pricier. I really wanted to love this harness SO much and give it the best review, as the quality is fantastic and it's really just an all around durable and beautiful harness!! BUT…… it did not work well for our English Cocker Spaniel Pup. I bought her an XS at our local pet store and we tried it on there to make sure it seemed to fit right, as she is pretty much full grown now. I don't think the XXS would fit her girth properly, so we got the XS, which fits nicely around the chest, but after grooming her puppy fur around the neck, the harness is too loose at its tightest now, and when I use the front hook (which is ideal for training her on the leash), the harness shifts terribly and has caused really awful matting of her fur under her armpits, to the point where I had to stop using the harness. And now I have to cut off all that matted fur under her armpits. We comb and brush her regularly, but she's also active and we hike and swim and have done lots of activity in this harness. It's such a shame, as the front clip was my favorite way to leash train her and I just love the overall look/style of the harness, but I don't think the XXS is going to fit, as I can barely get the XS over her head at it's tightest and then it's too loose at the neck. All that to say, if you have a floofy spaniel pup who likes to pull, you may want to make sure you can get sizing exact and be sure to check the fur constantly. I'm giving this 3 stars because it is a really well made harness, just did not work out well for our ECS. None of my other harnesses have caused matting like this, even when her puppy floof was at it's longest, so I know it's this harness and using the front loop hook and just the fit not working right for her. Looks great, doesn't fit great. I'm so bummed about it. I really wanted to love this harness. I would recommend it to a pup that does not have long fur.Lindsay

Great harness. I had the regular Gooby escape-free, but the extra-small was too big for my dog. I had to buy this in the small, which is smaller than the XS in the other. Makes no sense. I love both, but hate that I had to buy two very expensive harnesses to get one to fit my dog. Its a great harness, but it is too expensive for what it is.demacl

Great quality harness. I like that they have no velcro compared to other harnesses I own. This style works great under shirts, coats, and sweaters. You also have a bit of play room on these harnesses and can adjust them to the perfect fit of your dog. I purchased the matching lime green leash, as well. This is our second Gooby harness purchase. I actually prefer this style to the previous mesh one with suede trim. Although the suede is super soft, it tends to stretch a bit and the light blue appeared to fade after extended use. I love the step-in style…it's perfect for our active little Yorkie!!!Linda B

We had previously purchased the Gooby Trekking Step-in Memory Foam Dog Harness РMandarin Orange РMedium and loved it so we thought this harness would be great as well. We ordered a medium, yet runs smaller than the ‘trekking’ harness (that medium fits her perfectly) Therefore it seems a bit too tight even on the loosest setting. We also ordered a large (from another website) and although that seems to fit her a bit more comfortably, it seems a bit too big. Just frustrated with the sizing on this harness but otherwise the design is what we need for our pup. If you can get the right fit, then it’s great!Leah W

I have been living with, training and competing with my dogs in dog sports for over 20 years. I have had bigger dogs and small/toy dogs. I have tried MANY types of harnesses and in the end I always return to this one. I was truly sad that they have stopped making this in many colors and only make it in black and red. If some other company makes it in other colors the next time I need one I may have to go somewhere else for color. What I love about this harness is (1) none of my dogs has ever escaped it, (2) it does not limit movement or cause any of the physical issues that can occur over time by restricted movement, (3) once adjusted it stays exactly as I have set it, (4) machine washable, (5) does not stretch out. If you are considering the Pet Safe sport harness, skip it. Both I and a friend purchased it… she got one for a large dog and mine was for a small dog. In both cases that harness did not retain its shape very long and the dogs could slip out of them. Waste of money.Versadogs

I wanted a front clip harness for my adolescent SDIT who needs a bit of extra "steering" right now. I thought this harness would be perfect, but after using it once, I realize that the description didn't give neck measurements. Buying based on girth size alone, I ended up with a harness that hangs on my adolescent German Shepherd (whose girths usually fill out long before their necks). With such a loose neck on front clip harness, the whole thing spins. There's no way to size it down. So for anyone with a young deep-chested breed, watch out for that. Otherwise, my dog clearly liked it. The Y (between the front legs) strap design is ergonomically superior to traditional harnesses, especially with growing dogs. It's lightweight and comfortable. Like all my other Active Dog harnesses, the quality is second to none. It should be a great harness for my dog during the heat of summer after he's filled out. I love how reflective it is. (In the photo, the restaurant patio was quite dark. The harness was impressive the way it lit up when the flash hit it.). It's a nice enough harness that I'll just put this away until late summer. If the neck were more adjustable (or neck size listed in the description), I'd give this a 5 paw rating.Lori

We received the no pull service dog harness, padded cordrua clip on bridge handle and ID that we just ordered. Much sooner than we expected. We new we wanted a no pull harness for our (working) service dog because they have work so well our other (pet) dogs. The minute we took this harness out of the box it exceeding our expectations just in quality construction. We ordered a M/L using the "how to fit your dog" chart. The sizing chart was an excellent resource. We adjusted the straps to fit. And are very pleased with a fit that will support the growth our dog will experience. This is a good product. It is a really long harness so it bunches up in the middle when my dogs sit and when we are walking sometimes. The quality of the material is good and I do not feel like they are going to pull out of the harness. I do have an issue with the sizing chart. I got a large because that is what I normally have to get for my labs and then after the order looked at the chart. It showed that I should have gotten an XL at least. The large fits both of them fine and I have a 50 lbs and 80 lbs lab!Huntere

I picked this harness because it looked comfortable and tough, both highly important things when it comes to gear my dog wears. My dog is a husky/border collie mix and walking him with only a collar is unpleasant for both him and me. With this harness I have much better control with him, and he seems happy to wear it. What a fantastic harness! My 90 pound dood is a consummate outdoorspoodle and now he can pack his own water, snacks, and frisbee thanks to the bungee cord feature. The harness is wonderfully customizable. I have a Huge, deep chested giant pal who is wearing the 2-3X size. The straps are incredibly adjustable at the shoulder, neck, and across the girth to fit a wide variety of pup shapes. The material is extremely durable, seems to resist staining (I give it a quick rinse when my mudpuppy has really had fun), and most important, the harness is lightly padded for comfort. My pal literally jumps for joy when he sees it because he knows he's off on an adventure. I also love the bright yellow which pops at night when we are out exploring. The bungee cording is threaded though material that feels like the hook side of velcro. I plan to purchase the Backcountry X Petco Go Bag so we can carry even more fun along on our adventures. This is an excellent harness. It's well padded for comfort, and made strong. My dog was right on the border between sizes, so I bought small and medium. The small adjusted to fit, and the medium was a tad too big at the smallest adjustment. But I donated it – it's too nice not to put to use. Bought this burnt orange harness for my liver gsp. When she goes hunting in the woods on these dark mornings it is difficult to see where she is …so this colour harness is a great help..as it shows up amongst the trees ! I purchased two harnesses, one for a large Aussie Bulldog, and a smaller one for a Tibetan Spaniel, not expecting the harnesses to be really suitable for walking as they looked too flimsy. My Aussie Bulldog overheats in the warm weather, and this harness looked cooler than the one he currently wears. Both harnesses were easy to adjust to fit each dog, and walking the two is a dream! The harness gives better control than a collar, and both dogs seem calmer and more comfortable wearing them for long walks. My spaniel loves his! I'm really impressed. Build quality is excellent, and the harnesses are easy to put on and take off, reduce pulling, and just generally seems to keep both dogs calmer. A fabulous product I wish I had bought sooner!bim85

I have bought half a dozen harnesses but this is by far the best (and I will ditch the others). It is very easy to get on my puppy and she seems quite comfortable in it. I use it with the Happy Ride Booster Seat and feel confident that the little dog is quite secure and comfortable while traveling and then I can easily attach her leash to take her for a walk in the park. Some of the other harnesses took a while to get a wriggling puppy into but this one is very easy.R F.

I have had this harness for Nikita, my Siberian Husky for a few months. I ❤️ this harness, it definitely helps with my fur baby when he tries to pull, & it is nice looking too.

The quality is definitely worth the price. However, I have a French Bulldog with a big neck. It is very hard to get the right size. I had to order two and one does not fit because the neck section is NOT adjustable. The other one is way too big overall. It's perfect for other breeds, jurt watch out if your dog has a different body shape.Chiara
