I bought this system just over a year ago and have replaced the battery cover twice already in two collars. The plastic on the battery cover is very brittle and the tabs break easily. The only fix is to buy a replacement cover each time for 8$ with 5$ shipping. I was offered a solution to buy a new compatible collar from another system for$120 each. The cost of the indoor system is only around $75. Although purchasing these expensive collars is a good solution for Pet Safe… it isn't for me. I want to say I would recommend this because the system works so well but it doesn't when you constantly have a broken collar.Giagiul887
I bought one and it worked very well to keep my cat from counter surfing we loved it but then it stopped working suddenly, it only worked for about 3 weeks. I held on to it for a while and got new batteries hoping that was the issue but didn’t fix anything. I contacted pet safe and they sent me a new one but I had to pay for old one to be shipped back which I didn’t think was fair since it was clearly defective. The new one did not work at all, it beeps but the “correction” is so mild my cat laughs and doesn’t care. We checked it on our arm and the old one used to give a good correction shock but this new one barely even tickles. Absolutely not effective. Bought the ZND-1200 kit and an additional two transmitters for my cat who wouldn’t stay off counters and kitchen table. Set up is very simple and testing is very simple. After setting (and testing) the desired range per instructions, I adjusted the collar to my cat and put it on. I then watched as she walked all around on top of the counters and kitchen table as the collar beeped. Decided to test on myself while holding contact points in my hand. I could feel the “static” warning, certainly nothing painful, almost like a weaker (repeating) version of someone sliding their feet along a carpet then shocking you with their finger. Readjusted the collar and placed back on my cat to ensure contact points were appropriate, and again watched as my cat completely ignored the beeps and “static” warning. In my experience, just not effective and certainly not worth the $100+ I spent on the collar and three transmitters.Shane F.

I use this on my dog once 2 years ago and once she realized it zapps she never barked again when it was put on her. Even the sight of it will stop her from barking. I do not put it on her all the time but she had some crate issues in the past that almost led to being evicted so this was the quickest fix. Does not seem of the best quality, however. Collar is easily chewed through.

It is simple and easy to get started. Distance is accurate. If puppy/ dog has thick fur definitely have to unlock static levels. Vibrate only one level no to slight response viewd with our dog thick fur. I bought the 300 yard lite about 2 months ago for my 1 yr old Springer spaniel who is a little shy and very sensitive to corrections yet loves to bark at the neighbors. He usually stays in yard but does wander to neighbors on occasion to bark at them. Underground fencing not a good option for me so I tried this device. Wow it’s amazing! I trained him on our boundaries and recall with lots of praise and have only had to use the tone and vibration modes. The barking and preoccupation with neighbors has decreased substantially. We have had this PetSafe 300 for a couple of years now. It most definitely works in the 300 yard area. It is also very tough! It has survived several playful Corgis, and is now on a very rambunctious German Shepard. We really like the many selections you have with this trainer, from low to high. The hand held remote battery seems to last forever between charges, but the collar not so long. We seem to only get two days worth out of a charge at the most, which is why I can't give it a full 5 star rating. I would give it 4.5 starts if that was possible. Overall we would definitely buy again. We are looking to get another collar so the other can charge while one is on the rambunctiously large German Shepard puppy. I say puppy.. She's like 75lbs!!! Purchased for my bull arab (50kg) who goes barking mad on the way to the beach in the tray of the ute. It's only excitement but upsets all other dogs around. I only put it on 3-4 and he barked once, then was quiet for the rest of the ride. Exactly what i was after Only ever have had to use it on level 2 and it has shocked my dog maybe twice and she doesn’t really bark much at all anymore. I only have to put it on every now and again if she gets barky again but it’s made an amazing difference in our home. Our dogs were barking all day everyday and we live on a corner block so whenever anyone walked past they would bark their heads off and wake the baby. Now they walk to the fence and sniff. We have a very very stubborn German Shepherd male who barks through all of the cheaper collars we have bought him. My 75 lb boxer is on the adjunct staff of my cardiologist. His job is to walk me, hard, every day, 30-45 min. I have osteo- and rheumatoid arthritis as well as heart issues. When I used the training collar for the first time, it was like magic. Those plastic teeth work perfectly. Before, the dog usually behaved, but a nearby squirrel, or another dog, could be too much temptation to pull. Now, the gentlest tug and the usual "Leave it" command keep us walking like pros. I have little trouble disconnecting the links, but really, folks, surely you can add large tips to the cord ends instead of permanently joining them to a ring: one tip is the leash loop and male connector; the other is the female connector and release button. How hard is that? Connected, the collar fits with proper snugness after the owner adds or removes links. Disconnected, the collar opens so far it will slip over the dog's head and ears with ease. No more complaints from owners of impatient, wiggly dogs. Sure, this would add a dollar or five to the price. Big deal. Ease of use would be worth it. I have a 100 pound dog and it pulled so bad that nobody in the house could walk it except for me. And it was a struggle even for me. I had to keep an eye on her at all times because is she took out after a squirrel or something and I wasnt prepared, she would either break free or throw my shoulder out. Shell sort of pull, but nothing at all like before. Now my 90 pound 10 year old walks her easily. This collar worked so good, I got another one for my much smaller Australian Shepard, and now she dont pull anymore either. The collar seems well made and its easy to adjust. If you use this properly, it is a great training tool. I use it on my 13 pound pomeranian, and he absolutley went to rock start training status with the mini educator. I think the biggest thing for me was that I was educated first on how to use it. I worked with a professional and certfied dog trainer first to ensure I was using this device effectively. I typically use this between a setting of 6-10, which I can not feel when place directly and firmly on my own neck. I typically can't feel anything until it hits a 14. It is NOT used to inflict pain, but a stimulation in order to get the desired response from the dog. I also use it in conjunction wiht positve reinforcement with treats. I can now walk my little dude through the city, with no leash and he stays right by my side. I rarely have to use the stimulation. While it is not often that I walk him without a leash, this gives me the freedom to do so. It gives both myself and my dog more confidence in training and obedience.latsirk
I was real unsure about using any electronic collar for training, however, our trainer reassured us and provides this product to her clients. We we allowed to feel the stimulation that is needed for my rowdy pittie and it is barely a tickle, but somehow it works. I've been using this unit on my own for several days now and love it. I have not had to go above 11, which I held up to my own neck. It's a very slight stimulation that somehow gets her attention and is working wonderfully. Generally i keep it between 7and 9 which i can't feel at all. This was a game changer for our dog. Several very bad behaviors/habits were corrected within a week of getting this collar. Obviously your results will depend on your dog and how you use this, but this was an invaluable tool for training our dog. Some details: 1) We find that the charge lasts a couple of days (we take it off and turn it off at night when the dog is sleeping). 2) Range is at least a few hundred yards. Never have tested out to the advertised 400 yd range. 3) The vibrate feature is very helpful (and pretty much the only thing we have had to use since the initial training). 4) The "Nick" shock feature is a great attention getter for the dog. 5) The range of shock levels provides everything from you can hardly notice it to pretty intense.In PDX
I purchased this and trained my dog Neko with it with a professional trainer a few months ago. This device was a lifesaver. Neko is a Shiba inu and they are extremely high energy, love to run and are very intelligent and curious. Neko escaped my fenced yard 4 times by digging, and I have heard that some Shibas can jump and scale fences up to 8ft. So I defitly needed something. I’ve tested this on myself and the “shock” is not so bad if you stay below 20 it just allows the dog to “hear” you in stressful or loud/distracting situations, and it lets them connect the command with the action without you chasing them or forcing them into it. I have never purchased a training collar before but I was desperate with a eight month old puppy who had some habits that seemed impossible to break. I was tearing my hair out reading articles and watching videos but still could not communicate to this otherwise delightful dog, that we did not want to be jumped on, barked at, have our clothes tugged on etc nor did the cat want to be chased every time she so much as batted her eyelids lol We tried treats, treats and more treats and ignoring and crate training. He had many good behaviours but just would NOT stop his unwanted behaviours and I dreaded having visitors! Whether it be resource guarding, dog based aggressive tendencies, human based reactivity, or long-term rehabilitation of stubborn habits. This collar is the way to go. Larger dogs require larger solutions and this collar is much more comfortable as its not as sharp compared to some. this e collar is amazing. My 100lb plotthound is a wanderer. When the other two dogs were out playing in the yard, we'd have to keep him on a long lead, which prevented him from fully playing free with our other dogs. … we tried numerous times to start on the lead, then let him off and continuously do call and reward, but eventually, he'd always sneak over to the neighbors. With The Boss I'm able to correct his behavior from across the yard. It took less than one week to get him fully trained. Works on my 120lb Pyrenees lab mutt! He has thick hair. Hes stubborn as all heck. I had to turn the power down to 35% there is plenty left if a deer comes I can juice it up for his safety (if needed.) most of the time 35 will stop him. I rarely need to shock him now. He knows how to win. The only thing I use the collar for is the come here command as that is the most important command ever and I dont want to confuse him. I read the reviews from others before buying this product. It works pretty much like they described. You charge it up, put it on then, it takes a couple of barks to really activate it. Once it's activated, it only took 1 more bark and we had peace and quiet. I love it! I could never get my dog to be calm when we had quests.
