This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. While I didn't love the smell of this, it fulfilled it's purpose. My significant other I adopted a puppy last summer, and her previous owner clearly made no effort to train her. We had to start potty training from scratch, and nothing was working until we got this spray. Anytime she had to go she would just drop to pee wherever she was. The smell of this stuff is absolutely oppressive. Before we even opened the package we could smell it. It's like… stale horse urine that's been roasting in the sun. HOWEVER…. IT REALLY WORKS. This was a game changer for our dog. Several very bad behaviors/habits were corrected within a week of getting this collar. Obviously your results will depend on your dog and how you use this, but this was an invaluable tool for training our dog. Some details: 1) We find that the charge lasts a couple of days (we take it off and turn it off at night when the dog is sleeping). 2) Range is at least a few hundred yards. I purchased this and trained my dog Neko with it with a professional trainer a few months ago. This device was a lifesaver. Neko is a Shiba inu and they are extremely high energy, love to run and are very intelligent and curious. Neko escaped my fenced yard 4 times by digging, and I have heard that some Shibas can jump and scale fences up to 8ft. So I defitly needed something. i specifically buy these training pads and in this size 24"x24" to use in our small bathroom. every time i go to the bathroom, the 3 dogs have to go too. and i need something strong, and thats why i choose these. they hold alot of fluid and the vinal underneath is very strong and tough. prevents leakage. i actually keep the entire package of pads IN my bathroom. once it gets full, i change it. sometimes you need strength in a training pad and this is one of the areas i need it in…the bathroom. id like to rely on simple solution pads for the rest of the house, but since we have 5 other areas we adorn these pads at, its not financially feasible to use them. after the young dogs start to age a little more, i can begin to wean the pads down. then ill be able to buy all simple solution brand.theresa
I would never again order this product. The urine was not absorbed by a single layer of the pad; the carpet was wet underneath! I had to layer at least 3 or 4 or more of these pads to feel safe that the urine would not leak through to the carpet underneath. Purchased this after we could not get our dog from barking at our next door neighbor. Its been about a week and the barking has stopped. Duchess likes it! We do this inside to keep her doing it slow due to having surgery on her leg. It keeps her alert and aware to different things and is always fun to learn new things. I bought this to give my mini poodle something to do when it's too rainy or cold to spend time outdoors. The plastic is cheaply made, and the instructions don't tell you how to re-fold the tunnel to make it fit in the bag, but for what it is, it's a decent value. The tunnel is big enough that most size dogs should be able to traverse it with no problem, but the jump is fairly narrow and larger dogs may have a harder time hopping through the gap. The weave poles lean a bit, but are ok. For under $25, it's a decent value as a training toy for a small dog.KaHa
Its a good starter kit for people like us new to agility training. Pros: – very easy to use indoors. – easy to setup. Cons: – Poles are kind of hard to setup, as the holes aren't properly milled. – Poles fall down too easily, so you have to weight them down or teach your dog to be okay with that. Hatch where 9V battery goes in sticks, looks like it was not manufactured with good tolerances from the factory. There is a visible burr on the edge where it goes in. Clasp is too small and the tongue of it is not secure to the rest of assembly, so it wiggles and moves when you try to put in in a hole. Otherwise a good product electronically. I originally ordered this training collar about a month ago. The first one did not work. I just received the replacement today. I does not work either. The charge indicator light on the collar is green and the remote light works. It does not shock though. it would not activate the tester light, and I even tried it on my leg. NOTHING! Bought this a year & half ago. Never worked as advertised. Flaky – sometimes worked, sometimes not. Bought it mostly for vibrate mode, which is useful for training more than tones. But, then I discovered the unit is NOT water-proof, or even water resistant – and my dogs love to romp in creeks. The collar unit acquired an accumulation of moisture…and quit working completely. Took it apart, dried out for several days, and it started to work again… only sometimes – just like before. Then it died completely. Waste of time & $$. Poor quality and quality control. Internal circuit board appears to be hand soldered (& poor job), and cheap offshore battery. Does not hold a charge as long as other brands (runs down in less than a day, w/ no use), & remote uses 9v battery instead of rechargeable. Poor design. Will not buy any DT Systems product again. I liked the idea of a collar with vibration and sound versus shock or static. Didn't want to hurt my dog, just wanted to get his attention. The vibration works the best on mine, he learned within a day or two that when I called his name, I wanted him to come to me. In fact, it worked so well that I no longer need the collar for the negative behavior he displayed when I first bought it. And that's a darned good thing because an updated to the app in late April this year (changed from one app to another, forced not by choice) has rendered the collar worthless. The app itself is impossible to connect to the collar 99% of the time. If I was buying a collar again, I'd buy the same collar but would NOT opt for the phone app. I'd get it with a remote. The collar works, you won't hurt your pup, (don't use the static!) and the end result is the exclusion of negative behavior. Just be sure you don't get the one with the phone app.Mimi2Six
I literally just bought this yesterday! It is such a waste of money. The fact that it disconnects so much, and takes forever to reconnect to the collar is a terrible feature. How are you supposed to train a dog when you spend more time “connecting” to the collar. What a waste of $94. I’ve always been hesitant because I always thought that the smart colors shock the dog but I do enjoy the vibration aspect of it because it’s not harmful to my baby. It’s helping me control behaviors like staying off of the furniture and not pulling on the leash and within the short time we’ve use it I can already see you a little bit of improvement on his behavior in these areas. He will walk next to the couch but will not get on it he’ll lay in front of it which is what we wanted. And he’s also stopped tugging at the leash on walks. I am definitely Happy with this product. I also like that you can control the level of the vibration on the collar. So what we did was we gradually increase the intensity of the vibration until we knew that he could fill it we know that it would probably be a pretty high because he does have thick for him but it startles him it doesn’t it doesn’t hurt him and that’s what’s most important.
