This worked great on my dog's irritated ear. It was a weekend AND a holiday, and my poor little guy was so uncomfortable. I couldn't find an open vet anywhere and the ER was packed. After a little research, I decided on the Zymox and found it at my local Petco, which was not only open, but open all day even though it was a holiday. An old doggo with a history of ear "dirt" that required weekly cleaning, applied these drops for a week and the results were impressive. Using a cotton ball to remove the residue (and icky stuff), and she clearly hears better. As others have commented, the product is oily, just don't over-do with the application, be sure to rub the ears well, and clean off the residue. Recommended.Owl at home
My poor dog has floppy ears and has been shaking his head for weeks. He seemed to have some sort of infection and i tried my best to help him to no avail. I highly recommend this product. I’ve been using Zymox for years. My terrier mix has Ear Edge Dermatitis. It’s incurable and usually tears up the edges of the ear from constant cell overgrowth (auto immune) and dogs will be plagued with constant ear issues and itching. When I notice him itching, I put a few drops in ear and massage into ear canals, then rub into the edges of ears. Do this for a couple days, itching stops, ears are clean and have a healthy pink look. It’ll be several weeks before he starts itching again. I don’t worry about using the hydrocortizone or damage to skin (thickened skin) because it works for so long.Itlookscute
I had used this before, without success for my cocker spaniel. So, this was my 2nd attempt. It worked great in 1 ear, but not the other. I used it for 14 days, and on day 15, the infection was back in the one ear, but gone in the other. Product works great on certain infections, but not for others unfortunately. I've always liked Zymox products, but this one really impressed me! GSD/BC mix has had continual ear issues since having a hematoma drained in her right ear. The ear lays over and is full of thicker tissue which seems to hold in a ton of moisture. This last bout of pain and scratching was making her (and me!) absolutely crazy and, after a week of use, the regular Zymox I always have on hand just wasn't cutting it. I did a bit of searching and found the Zymox plus advanced formula and figured I'd give that a try before resorting to a vet visit, antibiotics, steroid drops, etc. After the second day of use, she stopped shaking her head, scratching and whining. My 9 yr 8# Lil Miss, a Shih Tzu rescue that was severely neglected suffers from chronic skin and ear bacterial/yeast infection. I bought the product a couple weeks ago because my dog was prescribe this due to an ear infection. Before applying the product I had the vet do and ear flush just so that when I applied the medicine it would be on a clean as possible ear. My poor baby's ear was red and swollen and I could see crusty stuff starting to come out I applied as directed on package and by the next day there was a definite difference his redness was down to a pink color and the swelling was down even tho per vet instructions it said to apply once a day for 10 days I did not feel the need to complete the 10 day dosage because by the 3rd application his ear was back to normal. I've used this many times for my dog's ear infections, and they always respond well, and clear up quickly. However, this past time, my dog seems to have lost his hearing. After some research it seems that can be a side affect, which may or may not return. I feel terrible, and I know he must be scared and confused. Please be careful using this product.KW

My dog had an allergic reaction to the antibiotics he was on after having a few teeth pulled. The itch was driving him crazy. Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. Even when I cover them he trys to get the bandage off to get at them. It says this provides some pain relief, so I'm hoping that will discourage the licking. I have an English Cocker, with long heavy ears. She is prone to ear infections. My vet recommended this product. I put it into both ear canals, and then rub the top of the ears for 30 seconds, making sure I get that wet, squishy sound. I do it three times a week, and she has not had an ear infection for 2 years! The only negative is that it has a little bit of a chemical/perfume smell while it is still wet. As soon as it dries, there is no smell. When the house is cold, I put the container in the microwave for about 5 seconds. I have four dogs, the most recent being a Saint Bernard. While I knew floppy eared dogs had more of a risk of ear infections, I didn't really think a Saint Bernard's ears were that floppy. Well after two ear infections that I went to the veterinarian for meds, I talked to a longtime Saint Bernard owner who said they keep their own personal supply of ear meds on hand. So I started searching…I read nothing but great reviews about this product, so I purchased. Once it arrived, conveniently my Saint Bernard had started to develop that ear funk smell and redness. I began using it as the bottle instructed and low and behold the ears got 100% better within days! I now use this regularly when ear problems start to arise and the wax starts to build up. I don't necessarily need to use it for the 7 to 14 day period now, it's more of just a spot treatment as needed and boy does it work. I generally put some on a cotton ball, put in the ear and massage. Then I'll go through with q-tips and wipe away excess wax while also adding the solution onto the q-tips. Same story as others with constant vet trips and put on meds for ear infection only to go back a month later for the same thing. My cat has had a chronic ear issue for the past year or so, has developed acute swelling in his face and most recently suddenly developed a large lump under the affected ear. He has been treated by the vet w/ various meds and is on Prednisone. Everything tried has only worked temporarily and his ear and sinus infections have become chronic. He is 15 and the vet doesn't give hm much chance at improving. He has had various allergy issues most of his life. Regular ear cleanings by the vet seemed to improve his condition, so when I found out about Zymox I decided to give it a try. It says it will get rid of bacteria, viruses and is antifungal, which sounds like it ought to cover everything. My kitten has that typical dark brown stuff in her ears. It didn't work better than the standard cat ear cleaners. I used it almost daily for two weeks or so. It loosens the gunk so you can wipe it out but doesn't get rid of it at it's source, which is the whole point. There's new dark brown gunk still being made down in her ears daily. She is an inside only cat and we have no other pets. The vet has now prescribed drops that include a steroid. Hope that finally clears it up.tklp
I rescued a dog. He had bad ear mites, took care of those with mineral oil. Took him to a vet and for the same old make money bit, he had an ear infection. So, he got antibiotics orally. Then he kept showing signs of pain, itching etc..,but the smell let me know from his ears he had a bad yeast infection. Being a nurse I tried several home remedies to no avail. I looked around online for something non prescription and not expensive that would have something to kill yeast. Dr. Gold's has ketoconazale. I've used almost one bottle now, his ears are clean of the brown / black discharge. He's feeling better 100% now and I am thankful for this stuff! Saves me a lot, no return to the vet. It has killed the yeast infection, the stank yeast smell is about gone. I use it once a day. I'm going to continue to do so until I'm sure it is cleared out, then once a week to prevent it from coming back. Excellent product, good price too, highly recommend this brand. This product is absolutely the best! I used to spend so much $ taking my dogs to the vets for ear infections, because every time they got a bath they would end up with water in your ears and get an ear infection and of course the vet would make me come in to get an antibiotic! So you pay an office visit and then you pay for the antibiotic and a test to see what the problem is very expensive! I use this every time I bathe my pet and ever since I started using it I've never had to deal with an ear infection again! I have had two Maltese and 1 Bichon poo and any dog that their ears hang down if you don't get them dry enough you will almost certainly get ear infections! Sorry not a review but a question. Sounds like this works well but I have a horrible time keeping my Shepard from licking his wounds. Even when I cover them he trys to get the bandage off to get at them. It says this provides some pain relief, so I'm hoping that will discourage the licking. Does anyone know if this product is safe if the dog licks it? Has anyone's pet gotten sick?

I have a mare who has super sensitive skin. She was out to pasture in the spring and before I could notice the gnats got to her belly and it was bad. She had hair falling out, was rubbed raw, swollen, itchy, scabby… I used this with a combo of fly/gnat spray every night after brushing and it was magically healed in a week. I will always have a bottle of Banixx in my house now. I have a Great Dane mix that has severe skin sensitivities. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Before we knew it, that bite had gotten infected so bad she became lethargic, her face swollen an angry shade of red, she could not eat or even drink on her own and she could not even close her mouth and was drooling on herself. Because of the covid situation and proximity of timing to our trip to see family, there was no way to get her to a vet in time before we had to leave in 3-4 days. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. We have three King Charles Cavalier Spaniels. And we love giving them each one of these ears as a treat every so often. The male of the three loves them so much he'll take his, hide it, then sneakily take the ears from the other female dogs. Then when he has all three he'll start to chew his. Honestly he doesn't do this with anything else (chews, treats, whatever). He takes his share of food and shares toys with the others but the ears .. they all love them. After the first couple times he did this and we came into the room to see the two females laying there staring at him as he chewed away, we took to separating them when it's treat time so they can all enjoy.Andreasson

BUT, the last bag of ears were cut differently and all the "curly" ends up by where the ears were attached were neatly sliced off. That's the part the dogs like to chew on the most! My 5 year old American Bulldog is white and has very sensitive skin. He plays and works hard. Since he was a puppy he's been prone to skin issues especially under his belly. Mites are a big problem where I live and can really cause him problems. Ive found that this shampoo as a supplement to his regular shampoo gets rid of these skin irritations. If you want sulfur in your shampoo, this is the stuff. My dog has some mange on the underside from laying in the grass I guess. He's only on the lawn when I'm out with him, no walk in the woods, etc. This seems to be getting rid of it. I am also using a 10% ointment rubbing on the two areas. After two weeks, the scoptic scabies are almost gone. I tried neem oil and the other home stuff, but nothing worked like this shampoo and the 10% ointment.
