I had high hopes for this collar as my older dog has a chronic condition and we are all very tired of his cone bumping into all of us and the whole house, and so is he. But, despite measuring and it appearing to fit exactly as described in the instructions, he had NO TROUBLE getting to the growth on his underside. Complete waste of time and money. He may as well be wearing a sock. We tightened everything to the point of it being uncomfortable for the dog and still he just reaches around like its nothing. It sucks when the stitching starts coming loose within days/weeks of use, i got two dogs and it feels like you got a 50-50 chance that you will get a product with defective stitching, Got two collars, the “ruffwear” tag started coming loose within a few weeks of use on one of those. Got two leashes, the buckle to use around the waist broke in two days!! On one of those, the other one is still good, Got two fernie jackets, the stitching around the neck started coming loose within ONE wash on one of those, so you get the point… luckily i know how to sew and I’m able to repair the items, but it sucks to spend top dollar on dog gear only to last in good condition for a few days or weeks.Gabriela

For the number of tags I need to have on my dog, separate attachment points for tags and leash are a must. Everything on one ring would be a difficult mess. My Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy is growing quickly, and making small size adjustments a couple times each week is no problem. Once set, it stays set no matter how hard he pulls, no matter if the collar is dry or wet. The webbing hardly absorbs odors, and a quick wash and air dry gets rid of what little there was. My only regret is that my rough-and-tumble beast of a puppy will outgrow his medium collar in another month. I've put this shoe through 50 miles at this point, mainly on long runs over 10 miles. It is a great ride, with enough space in the toe box for those longer runs. The midsole foam does an excellent job at providing cushioning but remains responsive so that even at the end of a long run my feet feel in good shape. I also have a pair of Hoka Mach 4's, and in my personal opinion, I enjoy the Novablast 2's more and feel that they are the more comfortable shoe overall, and especially for longer runs. Overall this is a comfortable daily trainer with decent energy return that allows for quicker than usual pace with similar perceived effort. Pros: very comfortable upper, great midsole padding, good traction, and overall durability seems superior to most Hoka’s I’ve bought Cons: Not crazy exciting (not boring necessarily) but doesn’t feel like anything special underfoot. The big problem that made me give it 4 stars is it rolls my foot inward. I’ve been a neutral runner for 20 years. I’ve never seen my foot so this but I can see and feel my foot roll inward, especially when walking a cool down. My knees have hurt after 6-8 mile runs when they didn’t in the gliderides or Mach 4s. It's a pretty good shoe. Fairly comfortable, removed the stitching on the tongue from the first model that pressed into your skin, which is great. They're also more stable than the prior ones with more cushioning, especially in the front where the last ones fell short. My only complaint is that the hard coating over the end or the shoe goes up so far, not talking about the rubber. It causes my toe to hit it and will likely give me callouses like the last one did, especially on the downhills. Something should be done about it, but you'll have to research more. Still way better than the pegasus about it (wouldn't buy those again). Also, the blue is very bright, it would be better if it was a bolder tourquoise but all these color choices are booty. They're either dad shoes or almost feminine looking, please get some help on that.Christophe

I just ordered another Large-Extra Large Caring Collar with Calming Disk from Pet Guys, my second Caring Collar for my 8-month German Shepherd to protect her surgery (spay) yesterday. The first collar, I used for my 2-year-4-month-old German Shepherd was when she was spayed at 10 months old. GSDs are usually very strong dogs that tend to struggle with anything put around their necks or mouths. But Caring Collar makes it easier and diminishes such struggle when putting the Caring Collar on and off around the dog's neck, unlike the plastic e-collar, which to me was so difficult and a great struggle. When I used the plastic e-collar on my first GSD at 10 months old, she banged the e-collar against her crate, managed to partially get it off and chewed it. It took a lot of sweat and difficult time for me to mend it and put it back on her neck. So, I had to go back to the pet shop to buy a new one, until I saw Caring Collar. My dog recently had surgery on his paw and he unfortunately kept licking his surgery spot. We went to Petsmart to look at cones and they had the plastic ones that looked so uncomfortable and this. This was pretty pricey but opted to go with it for the comfort etc. Although he hated it it served its purpose! He could still lay down, eat and drink with it on. I've been volunteering walking dogs with Labrador and Friends Rescue and it's required that we have two types of leashes so one form for me is the pinch collar. While some people think these are awful, they actually, if put on correctly, work wonders. These collars are made to go higher up on the neck and not supposed to be digging into the dog's neck (have to be able to stick 2 fingers through the prongs). But these collars definitely help especially if you have a dog that tends to be a little wild and you're trying to train them. I happened to stumble across Mendota Pet in looking for a slip lead for my new addition, and ordered one. I ordered the 12" collar as she's still very much a puppy, and I have to say I was surprised in how well it appears to be made. The satin nickel is a good contrast to the purple colour and it looks very nice on my English Springer Spaniel. The quality for the price is absolutely phenomenal . A few other reviews mentioned that it was hard to buckle due to the tightness of the weave of the material, and this is absolutely the case, however, it reminds me of closing the door on a well built car, it requires some effort but that's a mark of being well built. I have an 11 pound puppy that was just spayed. So I purchased this to keep her from licking her incision site as she was able to get out of her ecollar and chew it up. What I liked about this pro collar is that her view wasn't obstructed and that she wasn't running in to my walls, furniture etc. she also seemed to be more comfortable in it. What is unfortunate is that she was still able to reach her incision site to lick if she really tried. I can really see this product working on a larger dog that has longer distance between their mouth and site of incision as not only would I need a larger pro collar and the dog would have to really bend farther to reach the incision. This is why I gave it three stars and not a 1 star. I don't see it working in situations where incisions are on limbs and such. So for instance, if my long 80 pound lab needed to have surgery on his belly or torso area I would purchase this again because he will have a longer distance to reach than my tiny flexible puppy. I have this collar. I used it last year when one of my girls had a lump removed from her chest. It was so much more comfortable for her to sleep in that a cone. She was able to see, eat, drink and do pretty much anything while wearing it. I just pulled it out again because my other girl had a cancer lump removed from her armpit area. I have Dachshunds so no cone stops them from licking if they have an injury lower than their midsection. But this worked wonders for both when the injury was on the chest and waist area. Some tips.. 1. It does require a collar to be attached to the inside loops to keep it securely on your dog. You can't just Velcro it on their neck or your dog will probably find a way to take it off pretty quickly. Also, make sure the ends of the tube are touching when you Velcro it or your dog can get around it to chew. 2. Make sure it id inflated enough. If it is not, your dog will get it off. 3. If your dog has an injury that is lower than waist area, it may not be enough to keep them from reaching that area.lilys mama
I've now purchased this twice for my cat when she had minor surgery and it has been a complete godsend. My cat was so stressed out with the cone because it significantly impaired visibility and didn't allow use of her whiskers. She was constantly stressed and trying to hide in the darkest, tiniest, craziest spaces, and would get stuck with the cone and unable to get out or move. My overall experience with this collar is it looks great but not functional. I have 4 dogs and bought all 4 of them one. I have 2 young puppies that like to pull me on our walks and a rescue that also does the same. This collar doesn't work for them because it will begin to get loosen over time. I have to stop multiple times on the walks to tighten the collar only for the collar to loosen again. I also had 2 of my dogs almost run off because the collar wasn't tight. Good thing I could tackle them before they got too far. I love the looks and its very good for everyday around the house and backyard wear, but forget it when going on walks. I now use harnesses for my dogs because they give me more control so these collars for me are nothing more than a fancy collar to wear around the house. That's it. I love Ruffwear and make frequent purchases but this is the worst collar I have ever purchased. Period!Emily N.
I bought this for my puppy to grow into because it's totally my style. He didn't mind it. But he was having an itch at the collar and some fur got trapped and he started to panic about it. It was difficult to get off while he was freaking out, not to mention it was just a stressful situation for him because it was something around his neck. This might still be a great collar if it ends up fitting perfeclty when he's older but maybe this wasn't for a puppy. To Ruffwear and the designers; I love your purpose, business functions, designs, materials and engineering. I still use and buy ruffwear products. This is just my experience with this particular product. I want to give it 4 stars for production quality and because ruffwear just makes good stuff but the 3 starts is so future puppy owners can see this. Will still reccomend, just not for puppies or for anyone who's dog might be in a situation where a collar may need to quickly come off.Ian
