For one year Old English Lab. Not neutered, was getting a little defiant, and was running out into the street, and eating ALL KINDS of garbage. Was reticent to get a shock collar, I could NEVER hurt any animal, but only had to shock him ONCE in two weeks ! He is a different Dog ! As long as you follow the "Command, beep, vibrate order?" He now stops his running away, AND drops any "food" he finds usually just from the beep ! Half the time just the command works ! (Which NEVER did) He knew I was too old to catch him, so there was never any consequence to his misbehavior. I truly feel this thing will probably save his life, either by not getting run over, or from a blockage or poison he'd pick up on the walks. Labs eat EVERYTHING !sobrmn5
We love this collar. We purchased another shock collar previously and this one is by far superior. The battery life is great and my dog responds to the beep, vibrate, and I rarely have had shock him bc the other 2 work so well. This collar has a long range and I am able to beep him when he is doing something he shouldnt outside without having to be close to him. I love that this remote locks so our little ones dont shock him. This has helped us teach him the behaviors to avoid and he has become such a better dog. These were a life saver. One of the studs came out of our dogs collar and left the unit dangling from the collar and no skin contact. We purchased this repair kit and fixed the collar. I've used these for years and they work really great. I really like the adjustable level of correction as you can set it high when the dog is new to the conditions of operation since even though you train them before putting into use they always test it a couple times before they get the message. Once they have gotten accumstomed you can turn down the zap so it's just a reminder if they get a little over-excited about something. Only thing that can be improved is a more robust means of holding the two halves together since the edges of the receiver get scaped on the ground when the dog is lying down and this over time erodes the corners where the screws are located and wear away exposing the screws and the female screw receptor until eventually the two outer screws cut away completely and only the two inner screws are holding the two halves together. Hence the 4 stars otherwise I would give this device 5 stars.stanleytempro
This collar is great for dogs who refuse to stay inside an in-ground fenced area. It sometimes takes a couple of experiences but then, they usually stay put after that. I do have two complaints, however. The strap is too small for such a big unit. I always buy a 1" strap and transfer the RF-275 to the new strap. It's pretty heavy for the small strap provided. Secondly, IF I was designing the insides, I would modify the battery terminal. This is my 4th collar to buy (for 2 different dogs), and wires into the circuit board on 2 of the collars have broken off. You can't solder them back because they are embedded in silicon. I'm careful with the battery connector and STILL broke one off. The other just failed at the battery terminal and my replacement worked loose inside the unit over time.kn4tx1
This product worked great for the first couple of weeks and now it may shock them as they cross and it may not depending on what day of the week it is. The guide says once they cross the line it will shock them for 30 seconds until they return but it does not. It only shocks when they cross it. These are our preferred collars when our dog is struggling with a hotspot. We like the trim on the edge, and the option for colours. However know that the range of sizes skews small. We bought two that corresponded to neck size, but the cone depth is insufficient. You need a cone depth that exceeds the end of your dogâs snout. At first it worked great 4 months in a collar stopped working it would show red light like charging but would never come on so i purchased another one 130 bucks (wow) with in weeks same thing to my other one called tech support this time they walked me theough how to turn it on (at this point i laughed at the begining of the call i stated i have had the system a year) they told me it must be broke and buy a new one. Well broke to me is nothing working but i have red light on charging and stays red for hours 8 to be exact on both of them so this is trash and do not expect help from tech support. My dog had surgery on his paw and has to wear a cone for 7 days. The one from the vet had plastic loops to connect to the collar. He has had a very difficult time getting comfortable and seeing around since the plastic wasn't really clear. I saw this online and bought it to see if it would help. I don't think any cone would be ideal but I have to say that this works out a lot better than the other cone. It took him a moment to get used to the fabric parts and ran into some items during that time. I don't love that it doesn't keep a round shape and just falls on his head while lying down, however, it's flexible fit allows for more movement when he lays next to an object, or me. I think it fits comfortably around the neck. He seems much more comfortable and able to fall asleep without without struggling to get adjusted. I am overall happy that I bought it. I think it was overpriced but in these situations I would pay a lot for his comfort.Hurley0902
I bought two of these products this week for my dog whoâs neck is about 18inches. The companyâs site recommends to size up if your pet is between sizes which he is between L/XL… this may not be the best option for all. In the size Large my dog had the right fit to see and function normally BUT he could still lick his leg, which was the whole reason for the cone. With the size XL it just barely velcros around his neck and he canât do much because the top of the cone flops into his eyes constantly. This is still the best option over a traditional cone which is why this got a 3 and not a 1/5. The other issue I have with it is that it should have snaps instead of Velcro. Our dog isnât particularly sensitive to sounds but the Velcro is right next to his ears and heâs terrified of it. Iâd love a better version of this maybe a large that extends a little past 18 inches or maybe even a size L/XL. Honestly I wouldâve returned the product if he didnât get hair all over the velcro on both of them. Maybe if your pet is between sizes shop around for something else.DogParent25
I bought this when my sons husky got spayed at age 2. She didnât like the plastic one we got from the vet and was bumping into everyone and itâs so jolting because they are hard plastic. This Zen one worked perfectly for her! She was much more comfortable and when she bumped into things it has some give. She could see out the clear windows which was nice too. She has a long nose and still was not able to reach her incision. My other sons dog (cattle dog mix) had an issue with his skin around the same time and got a bad hot spot so he needed to wear a cone for awhile. While he didnât like any cones he did better with the plastic one from The vet because he didnât like that this flopped on his face when he laid down. Recently my sons other husky needed one for an injury to her leg that required staples. She tolerated this cone very well and did not like the plastic one. So overall I say itâs worth a shot. I personally love this one, itâs easy to wash, easy to put on and take off you just weave their own collar through the straps and close it up with the Velcro. Just an FYI the round donut looking collar doesnât work. We tried that as well and the husky was able to reach her incision so if youâre debating on that type or this one, definitely go with this one.Trish505
