Looking at the ingredients, sure you could make this stuff yourself, but for the money, it's more affordable to just buy a container, especially when a little goes so far. When I first put it on, he wasn't happy. I suppose his feet hurt so much on those spots, touching them was painful. However, shortly after using it, it was if he was a different dog. I'm not trying to allude that this is a miracle cure, or will change your pet significantly, but when considering that he went from watching my other dogs to playing with them, and walking with a better stride, and being happier in general, I give it a ton of credit. My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. This helps really well. It makes my skin the calmest and most moisturized it’s been in a while but it burns for a few seconds when i put it on my face over my other products. Maybe it’s the other products fault or maybe it’s just cuz my skin barrier is damaged. Im unsure but this helps TREMENDOUSLY with my barrier appearance. I had used this before (years ago) due to dry cracked hands during the winter months. Since I'm washing my hands more frequently and also using hand sanitizer, my hands started to dry out and get cracks in the skin. For those who don't like the smell or the thick "greasy" feeling, it is best to apply it at night and use a pair of those Cara Cotton Hand Gloves so that the Bag Balm absorbs better into the skin and you don't get it all over your bedsheets at night. Also, only a very small amount is needed to cover your hands completely. In other words, you don't have to put a thick layer of the Bagbalm on your hands to get the benefis of it. A little goes a long way. Another Bagbalm product I like is the Bagbalm Daily Moisturizing Hand lotion that comes in a 3 oz tube, however, I haven't seen that available on walmart.com or at my local store. I've had to purchase that from Bagbalm's website, however, I recently found it locally at another retailer.
