I have owned a lot of equipment over the years for my 4 legged friends, all from various manufacturers. I can honestly say the Ruffwear brand are probably the best I have used. Strong and well made with quality hardware. I particularly like the seperate dog tag mounting point and rubber disc to cushion the tag. This means no more rattling of metal against metal as my dog walks and plays. It has to be more pleasurable for the dog too, considering their highly tuned hearing. The item itself is mediocre at best. . It’s an overpriced collar with a plastic clip. There was a time when I really enjoyed your products. Now I have to sacrifice quality for the esthetic color that I want. . I would have much preferred and would even pay the up charge to have the color I chose with the metal buckle. I do a lot of hiking and backpacking with my pup and when he’s excited (which is often) I now have a concern for the durability of his collar AND his harness. I doubt I’ll be purchasing ruffwear again anytime soon and to get a quality product you will have to pay a lot more and also sacrifice in the esthetic department.Zach H.

Researching and ordering the collar from the Bark Control website was seamless. The bark collar was received in short time via Australia Post Express. It appears to be well made and fairly robust. Four months ago we picked up a 3 year old yellow lab at a shelter near Denver. The dog is lovable, has had some hunting experience, but was WILD when we got him. It was necessary to keep him tethered at all times, or he was GONE for 20 minutes pursuing some scent in the nearby forest (we back up to public land). I purchased this device in the hopes I could control him. To my surprise I discovered he must have had some time with a similar device. He instantly responded to the Tone/Vibration mode. When he would start to take off, one tap on that mode made him instantly come back. Only if he chased a deer on hikes did I have to "tingle" him a little. He would immediately drop the chase. Have had this collar for about 8 months. The overall durability if the product seems to be good and it does function fine. I was a little disappointed in the weight of the buckle. It is metal, which I didn't realize which makes it pretty heavy. The major issue I have is that after 5 or 6 months, the lettering on the "cabelas" label started to peel off. Now at 8 months, the lettering is almost completely gone. The reflective-ness of the collar is on the very low end in my opinion as well. I know these are just cosmetic issues, but I would have bought a plain cheaper collar if thats all I wanted.AlanK

The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around. We installed the in ground wire around the perimeter of our property. I have one dog that digs under our fence and one that climbs the fence. These collars keep our dogs away from the fence and keeps them from running out into the street. We have had our fence for 5 years now and only replaced the collars once because I misplaced them. I have a lab / hound mix that is 11 years old and she weighs about 85lbs. We began usin this collar since April 2017 and within 3 months, one of the prongs broke off. We contacted petsafe and were told that this is an uncommon problem and that the only way this could happen is due to "rough play, hitting it against an object, over-tightening the probes, etc." I have a hard time believing our senior aged dog plays rough enough to break the prongs of a durably made product. If you have a larger / sporting breed dog, i would steer clear of this product and go with Invisible Fence or the SportDOG brand from another retailer. They seem to cater to larger / sporting breeds. We've had our fence under a year, no problems with the actual fence. We have 2 dogs on the fence, 1 is an English Mastiff and the other is a Cocker Spaniel. The Cocker Spaniel's clip/closure cracked and broke off so we had to go out and search almost an acre of property to find it. We did find it but it is a PAIN to have to go out and search for a collar that you would not expect to break. Recently our English Mastiff has been strolling off the property, she has never done that in the almost year we have had it. First think I did was check the battery and decided to be safe we would change it!! That didn't work so I decided to take off the collar and check it to make sure it worked and it does but there are certain times when it don't. I have it on the highest frequency and I'm hoping this works, I will keep you informed. But us like others are missing the clear caps that cover the button to change the frequency. I don't understand how these pieces can come off unless we take them off, this tells me that there is a malfunction in your manufacturing if we are not the only ones missing these caps!! Then to top it off, you sell these clear caps and expect us to pay for them, something doesn't seem right. If you know these clear caps come off, shouldn't you be trying to fix this issue and offer those caps or free? Rich T

My dog is 55lbs and barely pulls on his leash, only when he sees small animals. Not impressed the buckle! They ended up not replacing it and continued to give us the run around. We also did send photos in to show how harmful it was. Regal is a 7 month old sable and white rough coat collie. He is learning good manners walking on a lead. The martingale. Collar works well with this and does not tangle his fur. Also it is very stylish. The collar was out of stock when I ordered it but Canine Spirit let me know which was much appreciated. Given that it did not take long for delivery of the collar. Amazing collar. I own a lot of ruffwear gear and they are all just great! This collar in particular. I have a female Siberian husky which LOVES to pull and this honestly does control pulling. She is great on our walk and it doesn’t choke her or anything but just doesn’t feel comfortable to her if she pulls which is great and she doesn’t pull anymore. 10/10 would recommend!Iva K
I’m using the martingale collar for loose leash walk training with my 9 month old lab puppy. My trainer recommended this type of collar since I wanted to avoid using some of the other collars like prong collars if possible. My dog is very big and a strong puller so leash skills are so important. The martingale is also nice because it cannot easily slip off. I’m writing this review after just realizing that I bought this product well over two years ago, and it still looks brand new! My water-loving golden has put this thing through what I can only describe as the world’s best torture test, and it looks the same as the day I bought it. Previously, I had spent hundreds of dollars on different collars for him (they all wore out within a year), but I will literally never buy a different brand now, and I will definitely recommend to all friends & family. Had high hopes and was kind of let down by the overall design. The loop thats used to pull out slack and get the right size for your dogs neck has no way of being flush to the shape of the collar. So it creates this pinch in the collar that gets caught on stuff all the time. Probably won’t order again unless this design issue is resolved.Jackson E.
I want to give these a 5 star but I can’t for a few reasons. Pros and cons below… Pros: – quick shipping – overall quality is great, but what it’s made out of is not good; explained below. Cons: – product has rubbed my chocolate labs neck raw to the point of him having to be put on antibiotics. I’m not sure if it’s what the collar is made of, but it was bad. The collar was on loose, not tight, and my dog has not been in water due to the winter (so it’s not like this has something to do with it). Spent a good amount on this collar to have it end up costing me more for a vet bill. Veterinarian even said it’s likely WHAT the collar is made from is what caused the infection.

Both of our dogs LOVE swimming in the ocean. We don't particularly love washing their collars 2-4 times a week, though! These collars fit the bill of durability, style, and ease for us. Now we can just wipe off their collars once we're home. The best part is that their collars don't smell like the ocean anymore. My overall experience with this collar is it looks great but not functional. I have 4 dogs and bought all 4 of them one. I have 2 young puppies that like to pull me on our walks and a rescue that also does the same. This collar doesn't work for them because it will begin to get loosen over time. I have to stop multiple times on the walks to tighten the collar only for the collar to loosen again. I also had 2 of my dogs almost run off because the collar wasn't tight. Good thing I could tackle them before they got too far. I love the looks and its very good for everyday around the house and backyard wear, but forget it when going on walks. I now use harnesses for my dogs because they give me more control so these collars for me are nothing more than a fancy collar to wear around the house. That's it. I love Ruffwear and make frequent purchases but this is the worst collar I have ever purchased. Period!Emily N.
I bought this for my puppy to grow into because it's totally my style. He didn't mind it. But he was having an itch at the collar and some fur got trapped and he started to panic about it. It was difficult to get off while he was freaking out, not to mention it was just a stressful situation for him because it was something around his neck. This might still be a great collar if it ends up fitting perfeclty when he's older but maybe this wasn't for a puppy. To Ruffwear and the designers; I love your purpose, business functions, designs, materials and engineering. I still use and buy ruffwear products. This is just my experience with this particular product. I want to give it 4 stars for production quality and because ruffwear just makes good stuff but the 3 starts is so future puppy owners can see this. Buckle that holds the collar closed is cheaply made. Used it to take my dog for a walk and after a couple of pulls the collar came right apart. Put it back on and soon after the same thing happened. With the collar off the dog you can simply pull the two ends apart in your hands. This product is just for show, not for use.Jenn
While I love the look of this collar, the clasp design is very unreliable. While the outer receptacle of the claps is metal, the inside is plastic. It's very week, and the collar flies off with the slightest pull. Sometimes it flies off of my Doberman when she barks with some spirit. The Dogtra Arc collar is just what my American Treeing Feist, 11 month puppy needed. I had borrowed the same collar from my daughter for about a month, but she needed it back, so for the past two months he had begun to get a little independent in the woods. As soon as I put the new Arc collar around his neck, he was a changed dog. Even without paging him, he began to hunt about 75 yards out and would return to check on me every few minutes. Whenever he gets out of sight, and seems to wander too long, I simply "page" him about three seconds and he comes running. Only twice in the past week have I had to stimulate him, somewhere between level 6 and 11. Then for a day or two after that, only the pager button is needed to turn him around.
