Best Medicine For Dog Yeast Infection (Jan 2023 Update)

Have been using it for my dog's ear infection – seems to be helping. The smell is quite strong, but it doesn't matter much to me as long as it is effective.Vanessa

I've tried the Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiseptic and Anti fungal Spray for Dogs and Cats on a few of our outside cats. They've been deflead but one still kept scratching and losing fur just above her tail. I'm not sure if it's an allergic reaction to the fleas or if it's the result of a thyroid problem. But we tried this spray and the itching stopped immediately. It's been almost 3 weeks and she still isn't scratching it. I also wanted to try this on some ringworm that a few of the outside cats have. I've been spraying this on for almost 3 weeks now but haven't really seen any improvement with the ringworm spots that I'm treating. Ringworm can respond slow to treatments anyway so I'm not sure if this is going to help with that or not. The spray is a pump and it has a light citrus smell, kind of like oranges. It will not harm your pet if they lick it. It didn't list a minimum age that you can use it on. It contains Chlorhexidine Gluconate, Keratin, and Aloe Vera. It's listed as an antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial. To use this you just spray the area tell really wet, twice daily for a week, then once daily for another week. You can continue every other day for another 2 weeks.Cricketoes

I read the reviews for this product but was still a bit skeptical for it to actually work. One of my cats (2 yr old orange tabby) literally scratched the size of a 50 cent bare spot (literally overnight) in center of his back below shoulder blade. By the end of the day the circle was warm red inflamed and gross. Being on a tight budget I did my research for home remedies. First I began applying a year old vet prescribed Dermalone antibiotic that was prescribed for one of my other cats for 3 days but area got worse. Then began applying Neosporin for 2 days lightly on and around scab now and ( luckily the spot was where he could not reach to lick off) and it did nothing as well. A week later purchased this product, followed the directions and a week later the area was completed healed. Scab dried and fell off and new skin looks perfect and normal. Unfortunately I dont know what this was for did not take him to a vet. Infected area did resemble pictures of ringworm online. Im not a vet but am thinking whatever it was it was some type of fungal infection. Benefits of product; it wasnt expensive, was easy to apply, and has a light pleasant scent.Debbie

I am so thankful to have found this today! My poor dog could not stop scratching and licking under his front legs, and they were raw and bleeding. He was whimpering but would not stop. I came home and sprayed the areas with this, and he didn’t freak out like I thought so I know it didn’t hurt! He became calm and only tried to lick a few times before he relaxed and rested. My 9 yr 8# Lil Miss, a Shih Tzu rescue that was severely neglected suffers from chronic skin and ear bacterial/yeast infection. I bought the product a couple weeks ago because my dog was prescribe this due to an ear infection. Before applying the product I had the vet do and ear flush just so that when I applied the medicine it would be on a clean as possible ear. My poor baby's ear was red and swollen and I could see crusty stuff starting to come out I applied as directed on package and by the next day there was a definite difference his redness was down to a pink color and the swelling was down even tho per vet instructions it said to apply once a day for 10 days I did not feel the need to complete the 10 day dosage because by the 3rd application his ear was back to normal. I've used this many times for my dog's ear infections, and they always respond well, and clear up quickly. However, this past time, my dog seems to have lost his hearing. After some research it seems that can be a side affect, which may or may not return. I feel terrible, and I know he must be scared and confused. Please be careful using this product.KW

My cat was diagnosed with Cryptococcossis and has to stay on Flucanazole for months. if your pet has to take this anti fungal meds, the Alivet for sure has lowest price on most prescription meds. Although Yeast Free Fido seems to be helping my dog, I have a major problem with your company for which I will have to add to and update my review. Your kit does not supply enough of the Yeast Guard and Digest for my large 70lb dog for 60 days. This is also obvious as those containers are smaller than the the Gut Guard container. I had subsequently ordered the kit 2 more times so as to administer the complete program and extend the 60 days as my dog was put on an antibiotic for 3 weeks for a UTI. Recently, I needed Yeast Guard but could not purchase it online by itself. Because you do not give enough of the Digest and Yeast Guard for my dog in the kit, I, as stated have had to reorder it 2x . Then I needed more Yeast Guard again, but could not order it online. I called your company and the associate was very apologetic about not being able to order the Yeast Guard ONLY, online. He proceeded to order me the Yeast Guard over the phone. I, presently, again, NEED THE YEAST GUARD to balance the program to complete the 60 day treatment. I have called your company and the associate stated that they cannot sell it separately and I must by the kit. She repeated this to me even after having spoken to her manager. (supposedly). I do not understand WHY you DO NOT SELL ALL THE PRODUCTS INDIVIDUALLY ONLINE. I am very upset about this as I thought your company was on the 'up and up' as they say. I am NOT going to purchase a whole kit again. If I cannot purchase the Yeast Guard separately, I am sorry to say that I think you are trying to force people to buy the whole kit and spend more money than necessary. We are still using Yeast Guard after 4 days. Ears smell clean now but Charli our 5 month old puppy shakes her ear a couple times a day almost each day. In addition to Yeast Guard, we are cleaning the ears with a good purchased ear wash. Charli refused her food if the supplement was added so we have to put the powder in a soft cheese "pill pocket" that we make so we can fool her, and it works! I use this product on the vulva of my female golden retriever. She has a skin flap that holds in moisture, so she has a chronic skin condition there if not treated. If your dog gets paw and skin dermatitis you need to get this! My golden retriever gets it from outdoor allergies especially from grass. It clears up in 2 days when I apply it overnight very generously. His paws turn super red and swollen but this has been a miracle. My Maltese/Shih Tzu has allergies and also a propensity for yeast infection on her skin. I have tried many things to help her and this literally was my last resort. She had been to the vet and put on meds including steroids and had all the tests for mange, etc. But nothing helped. This spray has greatly reduced the red inflamed hot spots and she is itching less. It may not be a cure-all, but it is helping her and she doesn't smell as yeasty anymore. I lightly spray it on her in the morning. I also spray a cotton ball and wipe out her yeasty ears. This worked great on my dog's irritated ear. It was a weekend AND a holiday, and my poor little guy was so uncomfortable. I couldn't find an open vet anywhere and the ER was packed. After a little research, I decided on the Zymox and found it at my local Petco, which was not only open, but open all day even though it was a holiday. I was so grateful — after the initial shock of me dumping oily stuff in his ear, my dog was more comfortable within an hour and much better within 12 hours. Great product. An old doggo with a history of ear "dirt" that required weekly cleaning, applied these drops for a week and the results were impressive. Using a cotton ball to remove the residue (and icky stuff), and she clearly hears better. As others have commented, the product is oily, just don't over-do with the application, be sure to rub the ears well, and clean off the residue. Recommended.Owl at home

My poor dog has floppy ears and has been shaking his head for weeks. He seemed to have some sort of infection and i tried my best to help him to no avail. Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. I've been using it since the 90's – long before Tea Tree oil was main stream in the US. It works so well and I happen to like the smell. I've actually used it on me for poison oak because that's all I had in the medicine cabinet. It is very soothing and helps dry up yucky skin – or poison oak blisters. I am glad I read the reviews on this product. They helped me to decide to give it a try. I have a dog with severe skin allergies. He is on premium dog food. He gets wiped off every time he come in from outside. I still was having problems with him biting or scratching himself raw. I had purchased this for my older dogs . We used it and it seemed to work for all their skin conditions. Just did not think a lot about it. Then we adopted a little fellow from the pound.
