Used this item with two dogs, both strays. One vets says was probably born in wild. Both been with us about 2 years now but both run free whenever they can. Used collars without the probes fitted. worked one morning with them, Tone not bad but vibrant works a treat. Now tone works well. Both dogs now stay within bounds. I bought these for a young German Shepherd and a young yellow lab. The lab responds well to the vibrate for now. But the shock on 99 (highest level) doesn’t phase her no matter how tight the collar is. She doesn’t even respond to the vibrate. She has been trained on other collars. This one does nothing to her. The lab is responding to the vibrate for now. But we will see how well it sticks. If you want a quality collar this is not it. I guess it’s what I get for going with a cheaper collarAli

I wish I had bought this sooner!!! This is hands down the best training device out there. We initially bought it because we were going on vacation and wanted him to run around in the resort area without worrying about him chasing people or dogs since he is still a puppy, a very large one. Well this thing is on our dog all the time. It goes into a sound, vibrate and shock. Now, whenever he is being stubborn all we have to do is press the sound button and he listens. The level of shocks go from 1-5, we tend to keep it at 1-2 because the level of intensity is strong and just the small shock does the trick. The collar does not bother him at all, if anything he scratches more with his regular collar than this one. Battery lasts about a week or more.Juliesa
My wife and I got this color as a replacement for an old, much more expensive one that we used to have. We had our mutt professionally trained with a collar and he responds much better when wearing one. When he has it on you hardly ever have to buzz, chirp, or shock him because he knows with a collar on that is a possibility; therefore, he acts better with it on. We bought the one at Walmart previously that was almost this exact same price. The collar battery lasts 3-4 days easy, possibly longer but I just haven’t tried to let it go that far yet. These collars work great with a little bit of time and training. After a year of use, with supervision, I can now take my dogs (Basenji & G.Shep) outside on our 3 acres without the collars because they have now learned the boundaries. My favorite feature of these collars is the nightlight and the beep function. The nightlight is perfect for going out at night and keeping my eyes on where each dog is located. The beep function is fantastic, my dogs have learned the beep means to turn around and come back. During training I used the shock function (level 8 & I did test the level of intensity on my own leg) only a handful of times when absolutely necessary and it's never used now. Both dogs now respond to the beep and if they're chasing a deer they'll stop to the vibrate function. The two CONS I have with these collars are the rubber covers for the progs come off so easily when the dogs are wrestling and get lost constantly. The other con is that I've had the collars close to a year now and the rechargeable batteries within the device are dying. The collars are on charge constantly now so that they are charged up for when they are needed. The collar dies within about 8 hours before it needs a charge even if it's turned off. Whereas when I first got them the charge lasted about a week. This is after treating them correctly, turning off when not in use and only charging when needed.Elizabeth R.
I have used this collar for 2-3 years now, I went with it as it is one of the highest rated collars when researched. I do run into technical difficulties as you do with anything else and have had no problem with having them replaced. I favorite part is the range and diverse control settings. When my dogs are out of the yard, I just hit the sound button and they know they have went to far and to get back. They come usually immediately. My least favorite part is the product does not seem to last very long.. in the two to three years I’ve used this, I have had to get a few replaced and all with different problems. I recently bought a brand new set of two, and I am very happy. I just have a problem with one of them flashing the green light constantly while the device is on and the battery life on that specific collar does not last. I love how the vibration & shock can be set from 0-99. The sound tones are also pitched slightly different for each collar & has the option to add a third collar. I’ve had this for months & the battery in the remote lasts extremely long. I think I’ve only charged it once. The collars last days as well. The only thing I wish was easier is the ability to switch over from each channel. When you switch from shock to vibrate, the first click is to switch over, then the second click actually vibrates the collar (& vice versa). When switching over to the other channel, you have to follow the same procedure. Which is fine for normal circumstances. But, when it’s an emergent situation, that extra time it takes to shock/ vibrate the other collar can make a huge difference & lead to a struggle in a stressful situation.Erin

Our 14 month old wolfhound cross, Rooey, is extremely placid, however, his play is BIG. While he is usually pretty good, some play behaviours such as ‘wrestling’ or biting collars/ harness’ began happening recently with certain dogs. When this happened prior to using the collar, my partner and I found it difficult to stop the play and gain control. Since purchasing the collar, however, we have used it for about two weeks and use it any time Rooey is off leash, especially when at that beach. Both my partner and I use the vibrate option to reset any unwanted play behaviour. We have not needed to use the static. When the button is hit, Rooey immediately notices, moves away from the dog he is playing with and then comes to us as we call him. It totally resets his choices and we have actually found that while the collar is on, we are using the vibrate option less as Rooey seems to be learning and playing more appropriately. Best purchase This collar really works , we’ve had it for about just over a week. I honestly didn’t want to get one as he’s a very sweet dog , just overly excited and very strong I wasn’t able to manage him (I’m 8 months pregnant) . Not had to use the shock function that many times as my dog now knows from the vibration alone . Our dog used to pull on the lead so much one time even almost pulled my arm out . And at the park would run away making it really stressful for us to take him out . He now waits for approval before running to play with other dogs , comes back on call, and even the last two nights we were able to walk him off lead without his collar . he’s overall happier as we are able to do more and take him more places . Bought a collar that was supposed to vibrate whenever my dog barked, but his thick fur prevented it from working properly. I then bought the AT-216D with remote – what a difference. Not only can I use it to help train my dog, but it works, even with his thick fur. In addition, having a shock function, and the option of setting the Starting with a lower intensity level is also helpful – sometimes all you need is a gentle reminder, but once in a while, you need a firmer touch. I was sceptical of this system since tri tronics was bought by Garmin. I've owned tri tronics units in the past and they were indestructible. To my surprise this new Garmin unit is as good as the old tritronics. The battery life is great and I like ease of the remote. Tone and vibration in one unit is a plus. Only used this unit in the yard and not afeild yet, where there are more obstacles to interfere with reception.mmar6363
