This collar works great. It took about 10 mins for for two mini aussies to figure out bark and spray. Its been a year and the battery still works. Now, i just put the collar on, and don't even turn on the device, and i get the same results, no barking from the dogs. My question is, do you turn the device off? I got this collar for my 130 lb Anatolian. While it works beautifully for while I'm not at home the battery has only lasted a week. No I don't have it on him all the time and I shut it off when it's not on him. I now have to drive 30 miles to my nearest store to get replacement batteries. Big hassle. I bought the bark collar for my small breed dog who whines constantly & barks at every noise she hears. The collar worked great the first month, and then started shocking her randomly, when she wasn’t making a noise, and then quit all together. I tried to reset it per the instruction manual, and it didn’t work. I have made sure it’s on her neck properly, the green light has still been flashing saying it’s charged after 6wks. The PetSafe bark collar is a basic bark collar with built in levels of correction. repeated barking activate higher levels of correction. In the base model, programming is done with the on/ off button. Confirmation of operation is accomplished by audio feedback. My hearing is not the best, and I had to hold the collar right next to my ear to hear the tones, but otherwise operation is strait forward I tried the collar on two different size dogs with excellent results. I purchased this product for a new puppy who was being crate trained in an apartment. I chose this particular model because of the 15 incremental levels of correction and because of the recharging feature. I have used other models in the past and spent a fortune on model specific batteries. The collar itself was easy to fit. Even on a three month old puppy. It worked as advertised delivering incremental correction upon detecting a whine or bark. The problem is the dog failed to cease barking instead increasing his barks to the given correction. The collar was removed and another attempt was made to use the collar again with the same results. Two other attempts were made but by then the dog became visibly agitated at the site or placement of the collar. I returned the collar to tractor supply without any difficulties for a full refund. I decided to follow a more holistic approach and purchased Naturvet Hemp Quiet Moments soft chews. These chews given 45 minutes before crating do the trick and he now enters and remains quiet. It has taught him his crate is his safe space. The Naturvet product was purchased at Tractor Supply. The collar has some pretty big (1") sensor probes that look not so comfortable on the neck, probably necessary for the deterrent. The on/off is pretty sensitive to get it on, you need a dime or something to turn on/off which is good so when the dog wears it the normal movements won't accidentally turn it off. That being said, it is necessary to move it around to the exact position and confirm green light that it is on. You can't just turn it to the word ON, it may need to be ever so slightly adjusted a fraction one way or the other to make sure it is on. Our particular experience seemed to work well on our dog, it only took a couple of times of it vibrating to startle our dog and get her to realize that it was because she barked. It didn't seem to vibrate on growling only barking and we had it pretty tight and her hair is short. It would not be something you would want to leave on your dog forever because I am sure the probes in the neck are not so comfortable for the dog. Overall my dog has reduced her barking about 90% even without the collar on. If she has a particular barking episode on our lanai we put the collar back on for a while and she figures it out. She does seem pretty sad with it on but she is learning quickly and hopefully it won't be for long. The vibration doesn't seem to hurt her, just startle her and that does the job. I think the results could really vary from dog to dog and maybe the breed tendencies play into it. For the investment and result WE got it was well worth it to have less barking here in Hawaii and that peace for us and our neighbors.SDaymon

I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. I bought this collar about a year ago and have used it off and on since. It definitely works to stop barking, but the problem is that it shocks the dog even when a different dog barks. I found this out the hard way when I was holding the collar, a dog barked a few feet away, and it shocked me on the thumb! It got me again on the fingers when I was holding it and the phone rang in the other room. I don't use it any more because I don't think it's fair for the dog to get buzzed when someone else barks. This is the first review I have ever left for any product! We live in an apartment complex and just recentl adoped a 2 year old whippet. I had tried a different collar when he was younger to no effect but after a chat with my neighbor whose pit proudly sports the collar, I decided to invest in it. The first day he started to bark once again, three barks in he stopped and looked at me then became quiet. Two weeks later with him wearing the collar only when he went outside, he's a completely different dog. There are some times when I put his regular cloth collar on and he is still silent as a mouse! He still guard barks once or twice at people who approach the front door, but now it only takes a shush to silence him. The best thing about this collar is that I've never had to trim his thick fur to get it to fit correctly, which was an issue with the previous collar. Best product I've ever bought!MoMoMomma

My lab is slightly above average intelligence and within one day she learned that when she wore the collar it meant no barking. Honestly, the collar causes her no pain because she does not even bark anymore when she wears it. Only problem with bark collars is the size. all the reviews for this product were really great… but i have not had the same experience. right off the bat there were plastic pieces falling off when we opened it up. we have used it on two dogs, a golden retriever mix and a pitbull mix. it seems to work okay on the retriever, but the pit is not phased. Also.. the 3 month battery life??? that is not the case with mine. It only works for MAYBE a day. I'm not sure where that 3 month info is coming from.coffeeparee
