My Labrador had stitches in her front leg right on the ankle joint so it was at high risk of infection as very close to the bone. I was hoping this would negate the need for the huge buster collar however, she would still lick at it through the sleeve and make it wet therefore increasing the risk of infection to the wound. She therefore still had to wear the buster collar as well as the sleeve to stop her licking it. Within a couple of days, there was a hole in the material of the sleeve and since then, a further tear has developed, so the quality of the material is not that good. She has also worked out how to get her leg out of it so all in all, it hasn’t been that great! That said, I would still recommend using one as it was better than not having the wound covered at all but for me, it didn’t negate the need for a buster collar unfortunately.Julieann
1 Very happy owner and one calm snoring Dog. He`s been at the top of his leg the last few days and licked it raw . No socks long enough and a long sleeved T shirt was not a success . Bought this from Petco on 02182022. Sprayed it on two items our mini dachshund pup has been attacking. The attacks stopped immediately. It has no smell when wet or when dry. One warning: wear rubber gloves when applying! My granddaughter and I both got it on our hands and despite several hand washings, we both got yucked at supper time. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. Great surgical suit. Good quality material and workmanship plus it looks fabulous! My Doberman Pinscher "Harry" had broken his front right "pinky toe" bone rough housing. My vet Took care of him with a specially made splint and wrap. They suggested I get this splint which would eliminate all the gauze wrap etc. He wore it for three days and started walking normally. Well after about the fifth day, Harry would have it on just going out for walks. By weeks end, it's back in it's original packaging and mailing envelope. Probably won't need it again but just in case, keep it in his medical box. Nice product. The extra padding I purchased, I used a little bit to make a slot for his carpel to slide down into. This is so the carpel didn't get squashed between his leg and the splint. He seems to be doing fine now, back to chasing squirrels in the trails.Alden
The product is very well made and easy to put on. It does not work for my dog because he has no feeling in his leg. I bought it to use as a splint for his foot contracture. My Lurcher Heidi had to have a mammary tumour removed. She was terrified wearing an Elizabethan collar. So I got her a Buster collar but being long nosed Sighthound and with a flexable neck she could reach her stitches. The "Suitical" vest I got her from D forDog was absoulutley amazing. Comfy, stretchy and easy to wash and dry. It covered the area allowing healing . For toileting I just un-did the press studs and took her back legs out of the garment and rolled the Suitical back to her shoulders. Then when she had been to the toileting area I simply rolled it back and put her back legs through and did the garment up. It was similiar to a childs body suit. I can't praise this garment enough. I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I've been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can't use this supplement (I believe it's a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all. They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking. They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven't used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds. FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop. So, if you're like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. Or maybe just contact the company for more accurate dosage instructions. Also, I've had success starting with less than instructed and slowly adding as needed to prevent upset tummies from the diet change.Joy
I have rotated MANY joint supplements over the years, but Nupro Silver is by far my favorite. The value for the money is incomparable for a supplement with such fantastic ingredients. I have to tear in small pieces for my 14 year old dog because she has very little teeth left. I got a little dachshund puppy about a month and a half ago and she’s been on the same food that the breeder gave her. It has never sat right with me that she doesn’t actually like the food and only eats it to get full. I have been researching for a long time different foods and what ingredients are bad or good and I went to a pet store to actually get a different food but they didn’t have it and I ran across this one. As soon as I saw the first few ingredients I knew that it would be great for her. I just gave her her first scoop of it and she literally ate it all within 5 minutes. My dog freaks out over these (in a good way!!). She gets so excited when I go near the drawer that I keep them in. But golly, once she gets chewing on these, our whole house begins to stink like fish. But, what can you expect, it's literally dried fish skin. I will buy these time and time again, just to make the pup happy. Love that they have healthy oils too for her coat and help with keeping her teeth clean.
