These are quieter than standard clippers, although not noiseless, and with a few of my horses, these are the only clippers they will let me use. I was looking forward to this, because of the great reviews. Well, I have the same problems as all the other 1 star reviews. Guess some of us get a faulty one??? My pup’s fur (maltipoo) was freshly cleaned and completely dry and brushed out. I’ve used buzzers on humans before, so I had a general idea of how this should go. Plus i watched a ton of dog grooming how to videos. All this does is take off a tiny bit of fur and then get stuck. Over and over. The hair never falls off, i had to pull it off every time. We tried adjusting the settings, changing the blade covers, using it with no cover, even turning the blade adjusting screw. Even at its highest possible setting (also very loud) it just doesn’t cut. After a failed attempt at giving my fluffy cat a buzz cut with regular clippers, I bit the bullet and bought these "pet" clippers. You wouldn't think it would make that big of a difference, but let me tell you, these cut so much better. Using a guard I didnt experience any pulling or snagging and my cat sat comfortably. The only downside was that they did seem to get hot after 10 or so minutes of usage. The noise and vibration didnt scare my cat, but I would recommend turning them on and petting/encouraging your pet before cutting, to give them a few minutes to feel comfortable. I got this for a gift from my brothers standard poodle who takes out to run all the time and play, well it just happened that one day Kole went through a bush of burs and had them stuck all through him and the only way 5o get them off was to shave him because it was so bad. I used these clippers and they are so quiet and just slid right through his fur and some matts he had due to the thickness of his fur with no problem at all. I have gotten 2 seperate sets of these. the first one didnt cut hair at all it just ripped the fur out. i even tried it on myself and it ripped the hair out rather than cutting it. the second pair wouldnt cut with a guard on so when the guard was removed it was cutting fine but grabbed and tore my dogs skin open. whal is a great company but they definitely missed the mark with this onewilliam
To start off, these clippers are very noisy. The on/off switch is stiff and sometimes when I turn it on, it makes a loud noise and shutts off. For some reason the different comb lengths are difficult to get on and off. They cut some of my dog's fur and sone it does not cut. They got caught in a matt and would not cut through it. I had to grab scissors and cut through the matt. They also get hot fast. I followed the manufacturers insteuctions very closely. I should return them but because I have used them I will keep them but I will be going to another store and purchase Andis which seems to be the choice of most groomers. I do not recommend.Gramma

It’s worth buying 2 & switching them out as they get hot when doing a large animal like my 90 lb dog. They get hot & it’s uncomfortable against the dog’s skin. The clippers have never “over heated” on me or stopped working, but the dogs tolerate it best when it’s not hot to the touch. I keep my air compressor going & blow the clippers out, spray it quickly with the cooling/lubricant spray & switch to the next pair….back & forth. Works beautifully. These are awesome clippers. My first pair lasted 18 years, and that's a pretty good track record clipping many house dogs and show horses. They get hot, so you need to work fast, and I buy Oster Cool Lube to spray on them during the breaks in clipping sessions to help cool them off. You can also buy other blades to change out quickly when the blades get hot. Blades come in different numbers, the higher the number the closer the clippers shave the hair to the skin. I have at least two sets of each numbered blade so when one set it off being sharpened, I have a blade to use. I keep a set of four #10 blades as I use those the most. Works well, the combs give an even trim. If your dog has long fur I would recommend using thinning shears first and the Scaredy Cut, otherwise your fingers will wear out before your done. I bought this SEVEN years ago for my toy poodle puppy. I was in school at the time and decided I'd make an investment in grooming supplies and save money. This has never let me down! I've used it at least once monthly for all those years and I haven't had to have the blade replaced or anything. I've followed the suggestions of brushing out the blades after using and occasionally oiling it and it's performed very well. Words of caution: it can be rather noisy, and it can get really really close- so you have to watch it to make sure you don't skin your pooch. The more I've used it, the more comfortable me and my dog have gotten with it and now I couldn't do without it. It's great on grooming his face, under his tail and his paws. I use this trimmer to trim the hair between the pads of my dog's feet and around the base of her toenails. The T-shaped blade works very well to get in between the pads and snip those elusive hairs, and the trimmer runs very quietly. The blade does get very hot, so it's a good idea to turn off the trimmer and let it rest before you go on to the next foot. Some dogs may be very sensitive to the heat, and others may not feel it. I've had good success with it, and I'd buy it again.barbsteddies

I am a dog groomer and I went to classes for dog grooming. I bought this product to help and review it for people. My final say is this is an excellent piece when used correctly. I use correctly very heavily. For this to work on your dog and to get an even cut you MUST use a de-shedding tool. They are found in many different forms but most commonly a simple rake or dog brush it long enough teeth will do. You'll need to thoroughly brush out the loose undercoat otherwise the blades of even the most professional clippers will get tangled and caught. THE FUR MUST BE DRY. Also you need to go WITH the fur not against this will cause a poor cut. Finally the blades will heat up, either do the more sensitive areas of the dog fist, or get a second blade so you can interchange them while one cools. NO matter which way you deal with heated blades ALWAYS ALWAYS A L W A Y S USE BLADE OIL!! its as simple as running a small amount of oil over the blades of cleaned unmoving blades and brushing it through with an old tooth brush. cleaning the blades can be done with a toothbrush aswell. I purchased this to groom my dog who is part Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever/Doberman Pinscher. He weighs about 65 lbs. I would have taken him to our Petco groomer, but recently had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor and when they called us to get him in, he had just had his stitches out and wanted him to heal more. Eventually, I decided tobuy this Clipper Kit. It's easy to use and effectively grooms dog. I didn't watch the video, but maybe should have. I didn't use the scissors either. However, I got the intended result. I would recommend it. Also, watch the video. The razor did get pretty toasty, so I had to stop occasionally to let it cool down and clean out the blades. I guess I'm having a hard time finding clippers that you can use on the whole body that aren't 100s of dollars. These were slowing down dramatically in 15 minutes, sounded like they are dying. Meanwhile my 12-year-old clippers can still manage to get the job done. These probably work fine for trims and touchups (but not full body shaving a 50lb Standard Poodle). I liked that my other andis blades worked on this clipper so that's why 3 stars. But I am still returning.Alicia93

Personally love these clippers, they are odd in the hand at first but they really help scoop in tight spots. Over time though, the battery will go dead in 5 mins, once put on the charger it states it’s fully charged. Sometimes when you move the clipper around it will shut off randomly. The battery light will turn yellow,red and green back and forth. This is my second brand new one(replaced by warranty) and within 2 months it is doing the exact same thing. Bought this a few weeks ago when another cordless clipper I own would no longer hold a charge and I could not buy a replacement rechargeable battery. I use it to touch up my horses bridle path and face and my dog between her professional groomings. It works great. I also used the old one to cut my husbands hair but this one will not cut his hair so that is a con. I love how light it is and how the shape feels in my hand. It is also very quiet.Karen
