Since my dog hasn't had a history with this, and doesn't seem to have seasonal allergies, the vet suggested an antimicrobial for the eye irritation and I went with this ophthalmic gel based on the luck I've had with other Vetericyn products in the past. I started with a tiny drop on the corner of my dog's eye to be sure he wouldn't have any reaction to it. Later that day, I went ahead and applied a few drops in each of his eyes. I applied the gel two times a day for three days in a row and by the fourth day his eyes had stopped having discharge. It is almost like my dog knew the drops would make him feel better as he kept his head very still when I applied the gel to his eyes. The shape of the dispenser where you squeeze the product out of makes it very easy to apply the gel to their eyes. While it is a "gel," it comes out of the dispenser fairly quickly which I find allows for an accurate application. My animals tend to get what I call "goopy eyes" from time to time, mostly irritated from hay or just allergies or dust etc. I have used products similar to this in the past. I used this antimicrobial gel to help clear the irritants in their eyes. It worked and seemed to soothe their eyes right after I used it… However, unlike the current product I use, I found myself having to use it again a few hours later because the symptoms had come back. Compared to another brand that I use for the same purpose, I would not switch at this time and would not buy this product. As far as recommending it to a family member or friend, if what they were using was not working – I would recommend using it and giving it a try. I have actually passed along this sample to a family member who has horses and will be giving it a try with them. I am very pleased with this product. It has a great consistency-not too tacky but not too runny either. I use this product on our 2 dogs. One tends to get dirt/other irritants in her eyes and then her eyes get red and itchy. Before I scheduled a vet appointment I figured that I would give this product a try; I'm glad I did-within 2 days her eyes were no longer red or irritated. The price seems fair for this product, especially since I would have had a more expensive bill had we gone to our vet. In addition to 2 dogs, we have 6 chickens. We received this free trial of Vetericyn Antimicrobial Eye Gel for Pets and decided to test it on our 3 year old English Shepherd, Cooper. Cooper's favorite past time is running through long grasses in our field, which seem to cause him to get eye goobers. Cooper was very unhappy to get the eye gel drops and we often used 2 or 3 times more product than needed since so much ended up on his face and muzzle. Despite the challenges we faced when applying the eye gel, we were happy with the results. After 2 days of 2 applications each, Cooper's eye goobers had disappeared. Our dog seems to like the way it feels in his eyes. He is totally blind but he doesn't try to rub it out, as with other drops that veterinarians have prescribed in the past. In fact at morning and night both, he seems to sense when it is time for us to put in his drops. He starts barking at us when it's time and bumps his way into the kitchen, where we usually apply them. If he doesn't need to go outside to pee or whatever, then he simply makes his way peacefully back to his pallet. We put this product in about five minutes after we put in an antibiotic drop. My 11 year old dog's eyes have become "sunken", the lid edges roll in and the lashes make his eyes uncomfortable. After treating an initial infection, I found that a tiny dab of petroleum jelly would help for about 24 hours. That was hard to get into his eye; I was afraid of hurting him with my little tool. My vet recommended Optixcare Ophthalmic Plus. It is a watery gel that I can drip into the eye, much safer to use. It doesn't give as good initial protection, but seems to be effective for about 30 hours. When he gets goopy eyes, I clean them and give him a dose. I have a Bichon whose tear ducts never developed. The eyes constantly tear, resulting in some very awful tear staining. I have used Angels Eyes for a little over two years now. My dog won't touch the powdered version even when mixed into canned dog food. He thinks the tablets are a treat and cannot wait until the next dose. I have tried both types, the one with the mild anti-biotic and the natural type. I think the anti-biotic type works a little bit better than the natural type, but I don't think it is made any longer. I even looked at Angels Eyes site and it is not listed. The natural chews work pretty well, although I give my dog one more tablet than the recommended dose. Drs. Foster and Smith has a very good price on this product and the delivery is very quick. I plan on purchasing more from them.michael1538
I've used Angel eyes twice over 7 years and it has always worked great for my little 5lb Pappillon. His eyes started weaping again so I first used the powder. The container was nearly empty and no change. Then I discovered it came in a chew, which is soooo much handier, so bought a container and continued giving it to him. He loves the taste, but that's not the problem. He finished the powder and is about halfway thru the chews and still no change. Odd. Previously by now the problem was solved and he was good for a couple years, but now no change. We will continue to finish the chews but I really don't expect anything to happen after this long a time. I'm so disappointed, Angel Eyes was my go to but isn't any more.TXMRS

Bought a couple weeks back hoping to help with terrier/chi/corgi mix who accumulates massive amounts of buildup in her fur on the lower part of her eyes. The problem is, she has to eat it first and she refuses. Even when we've coated it with bacon grease or something she likes. This is a common issue with she and her brother. They both eat like pigs and we have to be careful with them. But, when we give them any kind of chewable, they just spit it out. If we wrap it or otherwise try and disguise it, they manage to eat everything but the item we need them to consume. It's very frustrating. So I love this website PinchMe.com. They provide free samples, more times then not full product sized freebies, in exchange for reviews. So whether or not a product works, the review being left is all that matters. I opted in for this product in particular due to the fact that I've recently developed mild allergies as well as dehydration leading to excessively dry eyes. So I was glad this sample was an option. I've used visible with mixed results. I mean it took a few more drops to full moisten then I'd like, never seemed to kill red eye unless I bought the version specific for red eyes, and had to be reapplied rather often so as a bottle wasn't lasting very long at all. Possibly around 2 to 3 days of use though days needing drops to be used were scattered rather then consecutive. Now hopeful but honestly I didn't expect too much. It's just eye drops, right? Wrong. I love these. With only a drop in each eye the effects were immediate and obvious. Hydration was obtained, redness relieved, tear ducts lubricated properly and vision corrected from the rectifying of lack of mositure. Aside from obvious asethetic differences in my eyes appearance after application, the comfort and ease of optical functioning after was sublime and marginally noticeable. Highly recommend. I was really excited to try out these eye drops because I've heard nothing but great things, & while I did enjoy them, the sample was so incredibly tiny that it's really difficult to gauge a full opinion. The sample included one vial that wasn't actually full, so I was only able to do both of my eyes once. It definitely does reduce redness & irritation, & makes your eyes look whiter. I would have loved to be able to try these out a few more times just to see if the product is consistent. I did like the results that I could notice from using them one time, but I plan to purchase them myself to really see how well they perform on a day to day basis. I have two maltese puppies to which I give Angel's Eyes to help with the tear stains that are characteristic of their breed. At first it seemed to help and the stains cleared out however they are back again and bigger than they were before.
