My little Papillon, Dixie (1.9 yrs old) has had the typical small dog issues with her stools since she was a pup (who ever decided to breed a small breed dog with long butt hair wasn't really thinking "practical"! I like to compare it to a woman trying to go to the bathroom in a wedding dress!) and about 1 year ago she had a BAD bout of Pancreatitis that landed her in the Emergency Hospital for 6 days (a pretty penny- about $2700.00! Thank goodness for Pet Insurance!). This product has been a life saver for both Dixie and me! Ofcourse no over-the-counter medication is an equal replacement for veterinary care if your dog is ill, but this is a great product for every pet owner to have on hand! It's great for the occasional upset stomach and when your dog gets into the cat food, trash, etc. It's also been great with the history of Pancreatitis, if Dixie gets an upset stomach after my regular vet's office hours, it works almost immediately and it helps prevent the dangerous symptoms associated with moderate to severe diarreaha such as dehydration (it doesn't take many loose bowel movements for an 8lb. dog to get dangerously dehydrated), vomiting blood and bloody diarreaha from an irritated G.I. tract, etc,. This has helped by me time to get through the night without having to take Dixie back to the outrageously expensive Emergency Hospital and calms her symptoms until our regular vet opens. It's worth shelling out the few bucks to have this on hand rather than the costs of an emergency visit! It's some sort of Doggie-Murphy's-Law that your pet only gets sick at 2am… I call it Doggie- Immodium, it really does work great and my vet said it's great to have on hand and perfectly safe to give your pet. It says on the label (or somewhere in the advertisement) that your pet will love the taste and the review from "Snoozer" before mine said their dog liked it, but unfortunately I have them beat with "picky-dog factor" Dixie HATES it! The good thing is that because its a nice thick paste as long as I get it somewhere on her muzzle (she puts up a fight like you wouldn't believe- but that stems from being treated poorly and force-fed as a puppy, it's not the products fault) she does lick it off and gets enough medicine in her system to be effective! So overall, I highly recommend every dog and cat owner to have this in your home, even if your animal doesn't have a history of GI issues! Most people have Immodium or pepto in their medicine cabinets, shouldn't you do the same for your pet? PS- the cats LOVE the taste! They even lick the paper towel I wipe my hand off on after giving it! The product took a very long time to arrive which is not a huge problem itself, but wish it would have been expressed clearly before ordering. After feeding my cat the 1/2 a pill he threw up about an hour later. I tried once more 8 hours later thinking maybe he just had a hair ball or something and he threw up again. I realize spending $50 on a product that may not work is a risk, and one that I was willing to take. In order to learn more about what happened and ask for advice, I shared my experience in an email to the team (email address I had used before to follow up on arrival date, so I know they received it). This is an excellent product with the best ingredients to heal (not just treat) intestinal lining problems. My girl has a bad case of IBS and was constantly crying and in horrible pain even after I put her on an organic home made diet. I bought the power version and for 3 weeks I mixed it in with her wet food as directed and did NOT do anything. Her 24×7 pain was excruciating for her and for me so I did not give up. After doing a lot of research, I realized that similar 'human' products for the same problems suppose to be given 30 minutes before meals. So, I diluted it in water and added a bit of sweat potato (for taste) and gave it to her, 30 minutes before her food, and IT WORKED! Like a miracle her pain was gone. For the first time after 3 months she was able to sleep peacefully. She is 11 lb so I give her 1/8 tsp of the powder and ¼ tsp of sweat potato (for taste) diluted in 1-2 tablespoons of water, 20 minutes before her meals, 3 times per day. I also give her probiotics, digestive enzymes, DGL(Deglycyrrhizinated Licorice), and Seacure (contains L-glutamine which repairs the mucosal lining) all mix with her food and I am happy to said she is no longer in any pain and on her way to full recovery! Just remember if you get the power version dilute it in water first (you don't have to do that with the liquid version) AND please give it 20 minutes BEFORE meals if your dog is in bad shape like mine.Loving pet owner

I occasionally add this to my 13-year-old cat's food, or even administer a few drops directly into his mouth, when he's having tummy troubles. He will sometimes have trouble with vomiting due to mild IBD, and once due to pancreatitis. Every time I've used this product it has stopped or greatly lessened his vomiting incidents. My Bichon has inflammatory bowel disease which has caused loose stools sometimes with blood. I tried changing her food, but she still had bouts of it. She has also been very uncomfortable a few times when she had an episode of it. Since I started giving her the Colon Rescue 2-3 times daily she has had only one or two short episodes of diarrhea. She is eating well and seems quite healthy. I also give her a probiotic daily and I think the Colon Rescue and the probiotic have really helped her heal. This is a difficult review for me. While Vetoryl helped my dog in the beginning, she developed some of the negative side effects after being on it for just over a year. She became very lethargic and began to collapse in the floor. She was extremely weak. She had lost about 13 pound in 12 months. I immediately took her to the vet. He took her off Vetoryl and put her on Prednisone which she has now been taking for about 3 months. With the Prednisone, she was Immediately more alert, was less lethargic and her strength improved. She has also began to gain some much need weight. I AM NOT saying not to give your dog Vetoryl, I'm saying to closely monitor your dog for any side effect that may develop the longer your dog is on Vetoryl. The problem with monitoring your dog is that the negative symptoms Vetoryl and the symptoms of Cushing's Disease mirror each other. Which makes it more difficult to decide if it's the Vetoryl or Cushing's Disease that is killing your dog. You have to "know your dog". Know what looks right and what does not. If you suspect your dog may be having a reaction to Vetoryl, talk to your vet immediately.TERRY

My dog has Cushing's disease and this was what the doctors recommended. I was reticent to put her on a medicine that she would have to be on the rest of her life, but it has proven that is works. She was continually gaining weight, now she is back closer to what she should weigh. It also helps with the water drinking and urinating. Our German Shepherd dog was stricken with a life threatening systemic fungal infection. After a year of treatment she miraculously survived. However, she is unable to take steroids or other immunosuppressant medications to control her Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I've been monitoring my 13 year old Border Collie mix's kidney values for about two years now. Originally, her values were only a little above normal, and went back to normal when I put her on a veterinary kidney diet (Hills K/D). About 6 months ago, her appetite decreased and repeat bloodwork indicated the values had gone up considerably. After a couple days on iv fluids to flush her out, she perked up some but was not nearly her normal self. We started her on Epikatin, which helped a bit but her phosphorus levels were still way too high, and her appetite was terrible. I ordered the Phos-Bind and within two weeks (I think) her appetite improved, and repeat blood tests have been better—BUN and Creatinine are still above normal (but not horribly so) but the phosphorus level is back to normal. My cat Blaze is 16 years old and in kidney failure, my vet gave me a liquid to dispense twice a day. What a nightmare that was. She hated it and would cringe every time I came near her and I could not consistently give her the right doses a day. There is no scoop in the jar, so I called up the company and the girl that answered the phone was very pleasant and helpful. 1/8 of 1/4 teaspoon twice a day. I broke up a 1/4 teaspoon into 8 parts to get an idea of what her dose would be a day and sprinkle (from a salt shaker) a little on her food, mashing it in the food each time she eats which is now around 4x's a day, she does not seem to notice or mind it in her food. I have not been able to take her to the vet yet to see how her numbers are in her blood work, so I cannot give product a "effective" rating at this time, but surely would recommend this to anyone with a cat in renal failure. I am very happy to see her eating well again, grooming herself and not vomiting every other day. I have noticed she is a little constipated but that could be from her thyroid pills or hair from her grooming herself again, but I give her some baby pumpkin food which she loves and it seems to help her go. The price is very reasonable, I bought the smaller jar which it looks like will last a long time as the amount given each day is minimal.booperj

I used this product on my 19 year old Chihuahua mix…..his health had started to decline as part of aging & I did not take him to a vet for extreme action at his age. He had begun to drink much more water than usual so felt this might help with aging kidney dysfunction & it certainly seemed to do so. I would sprinkle it on his dog dish and put wet food on top of it…..no problem eating it that way. For two weeks, he was more active, happy & eating. Two days ago, his health began to decline again &, sadly, I had him euthanized yesterday as I felt he was also in pain…… As noted, this product did help keep him comfortable for a while, but aging was the primary factor in his demise. They really seem to help my dog! I started giving them when I noticed him being hesitant to go pee and holding it for a long time and ending up with an infection. He seems to do well on these. My lab had hot spots recently. I bought this product and applied it to the affected area in addition to the antibiotic cream given by the vet. My vet recommended this to me a few years ago to solve my bulldog's chronic loose stool. We had tried other supplements and probiotics, and different forms of pumpkin. My dog has an extremely sensitive stomach. Although he's on a grain free diet, Pro-Pectalin has significantly reduced the stomach upsets, gas and loose stool episodes that he would have periodically. My dog broke his back just behind his front legs. We opted for home care and eventually chiropractic. The chiropractor recommended Pain Plus. My Jack doesn't mind taking them…BUT…he chooses the dosage! When I see him being stiff I offer a whole one and if he doesn't take it, I break it in half and offer him half. My dog is a rescue, approx. 13 years old & 68 lbs. He has been with us for 10 1/2 years. About two years ago he was diagnosed with Wobblers syndrome. Recieved a 3oz bottle of Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, this stuff is amazing! My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. The day I received it, I rubbed down her belly with it (this is where she itches the most) and it seemed like she felt instant relief. The Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel, is a lot cheaper than the one prescribed. What are some benefits of owning this product? My cat seems to have a habit of biting her fur off, usually after I have put flea medication on her. We have discovered she is a bit allergic to ingredients in most flea medication. So, the Vetericyn Plus Hotspot Antimicrobial Hydrogel has helped with the dermatitis that has been caused by the allergies. Would you buy this product? My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. This product is on the shelf next to a dozen others that claim to do the same thing, but I didn't get to it until three others didn't get the job done. This showed visible improvement within a day. Bonus that he didn't lick it off – before I tried this I would combo an antimicrobial with one of those "bitter taste dogs hate" sprays, but my dog is weird and loved those things and would lick them like crazy. I'd have to wrap his paws and watch him like a hawk. Not so with this! He stays away from it so it can work…bonus points bc spray plus consistency is easy application. Slippery elm helps heal the gut lining from gluten. Gluten is in wheat/barley/rye..oats/corn/rice. Rice is low in gluten. Wild rice has no gluten…is a grass. Gluten/Xanthan gum/carrageenan can hurt the gut lining so less nutrients absorb. The dog got all three in a canned food which greatly hurt him and he was eating grass. Slippery elm was great help to heal his gut lining. One squirt in his blended food and zero food that hurt the gut lining helped him heal fast along with other supplements. My vet recommended this because of my dog's high ALT & ALKP blood levels(indicating liver issues). I give him a tablet daily. They're supposed to be chewable but he doesn't WANT to chew them, so I have to crush them up in some soft tasty food – problematic, seeing as he's supposed to tack his dose on an empty stomach for better absorption, but I suppose it's better than him not eating it at all. I also give him Hepato Support, so one way or another I assume he's getting helpful levels of the active ingredients. I honestly am not sure what to put for the value because it's rather costly & it's really hard to say what effect it's having – my dog's levels are still high, but they haven't gotten higher since we put him on the supplements.
