I got this bark collar for my two dogs and it worked wonderfully for a few months. They completely stopped barking! But then, the battery wouldn't stay charged. I was told that I might be doing something wrong that ruined the battery. Customer Service was uber helpful (5 stars for them!) and they sent me a new collar for free. I ended up going through five collars in just a few months with the same problem each time. The rechargeable battery is the only problem with this product, but it is a huge problem. When I finally asked Customer Service if they had any spray collars with a different type of battery, they directed me to the Elite Spray Bark Collar. When I got the collar they only had the one for little dogs, but it still works amazingly for my big dogs! It does all the same things as the rechargeable one except that it uses non-rechargeable batteries. These batteries last way longer than the rechargeable one though so it's a win-win! I highly suggest looking at the Elite Spray Bark Collars!!!NIKKI 😉
Supposed to have 35-45 sprays but it sure didn’t. We put the collar on him and angled the camera so we could watch him and try to train him to stop. He barked and it sprayed. He continued to bark. It continued to spray. It shut off like it’s supposed to. We went in and the whole place smelled like citronella. We walked back out after trying to calm him. He barked and it sprayed. He kept barking and then it stopped spraying and started flashing that it was out. The. Citronella cartridge only had maybe 5-8 sprays. We had to leave for a few hours that afternoon and we put the unscented cartridge in. After being gone for only an hour or two it was empty as well. We watched video of him and he continued to bark through the sprays. It had no effect. However, it also only had maybe 10ish sprays in it total. The cartridges aren’t worth the money as they don’t have what they are supposed to have in them. The collar was not worth the money as the spray didn’t even phase our dog. Maybe it works for others but it didn’t do anything for us apart from leave a citronella smell in the air for a few minutes.MarkD504
For starters I am not a person who usually leaves reviews but this product deserves it! I bought two of these collars for my two of my noisier dogs. I have tried everything to control their barking – trying to distract them with treats, spraying them with water to correct the behaviour, using high frequency clicker and using a training collar that I would beep if they barked as a warning and then it would vibrate if they barked again. None of these worked so I gave up for a bit, until I saw this collar come up as I was researching new collars to try – I decided to give it a shot since it was different than the methods I have previously tried. My god, it is incredible! I put the collar on my noisiest dog, a terrier, (his barking is out of control) and he barked once and it sprayed him and he has not barked since – I went from having him bark at every little sound he heard outdoors to peace and quiet. I love this product and I highly recommend it! P.S. It also works for my other dog, my terrier just gets her hyped up with his barking but now they are my quiet little hellhounds 🙂lbll12

I purchased this collar two weeks ago. The first one broke within 10 minutes of opening as it would not take a fill of the spray. Customer service was great however, and sent a replacement. The second one does not seem to spray at all, and every time the dog goes out with the collar flashing green, it comes back with lights flashing… I reset it all the time, same results. None. I rated the EFFECT of the product as to its function. I am guessing the collar is a cheap marketing ploy rather than an effective model or it's never been beta tested on a Jack Russell. I bought this for my shelter dog who only barked when I left the house. I couldn't discipline her because she never barked while I was present. I tried different methods found on the internet with very little success, so I figured what could it hurt to try the spray collar? The first day I came home, and my entire room smelled like citronella.. By the next week, I could vaguely smell it on her neck, and the week after, I didn't smell it at all. Let me prequalify this by saying that I am a fan of PetSafe Products. The Stay and Play Wireless fence and the Large Dog Citronella Anti-Bark Collars have worked flawlessly for my medium size indoor/outdoor pup. I also have a 1.5 year old Yorkie, and the PetSafe Elite Little Dog Spray Bark Control has design and operational flaws that I can't overlook: 1. The unit's sensor is not a typical rear sensor, and it doesn't pick-up normal barking unless it is high intensity (this is WHEN it works). 2. The unit does not last for the full amount of sprays. 3. The unit has to be at a high level of tightness to the point of almost choking the dog to remain in place in order to be correctly positioned to both pick-up the barking and deliver the spray. 4. The unit does not have an ON/OFF switch other than turning the battery, and then you have to manipulate even that when wanting to reset the bark counter. The bark counter should be reset in the electronics when the battery is removed if that's the case and reflect this in the refill directions for the spray. At the end of the day, I have use spray collars for my outdoor dog at my home for years, so I am familiar with the quirks. I have remained faithful to PetSafe, and they never let me down. The Elite Little Dog Spray collar is not up to their usually high standards. I have bought one, exchanged one, and bought another to give this product a fair chance, and I am heading to Petco this morning to return the last one as a disappointed customer. I have moved to an apartment from a home in the process of building a new house, so it is imperative that I be able to reinforce that excess barking is not acceptable. I bought two of these and neither of them worked. The first one worked for about a week of occasional use. Then it started leaking a steady, tiny hiss of spray from the intake hole. Months later, on a road trip w/now 2 small dogs I picked up 2 of the older, silver models that use the 6 volt batteries. They still work great (2 years later, intermittent use for overnights away from home or having exciting visitors that the dogs celebrate vocally, Enthusiastically, unceasingly. I must admit, I was skeptical of these kinds of products, but because my 12-year-old Shih Tzu has been exhibiting a lot of separation anxiety for the past few years–resulting in lots of barking and a neighbor complaining — I decided to give it a try. In short, it's been a God send! After wearing the collar for only one or two days, my dog got the "message," and stopped barking completely. In fact, she's become a much calmer dog as a result. I initially bought a shock collar, but didn't have the heart to use it on her, so I opted for this spray-style collar and couldn't be happier. I only have one minor complaint: Activating the collar requires turning a dial with a coin. Unfortunately, when turning, you have to be real precise and hit exact spot, which can be hard to do sometimes. If you turn a bit too far or not enough, it will not activate. We've been using this bark collar on our German Shepherd and it's working! He barks at everyone out the front window or while on car rides and his bark is very loud. I've tried other collars in the past that give off a beeping noise and can be controlled by a remote control, but that beeping sound scares my mini poodle too much so we had to stop using it. I was excited to try this collar knowing it releases a different type of sound. So far it distracts the GSD and works to deter him from barking. We are trying to train our year old German shepherd/Belgian Malinois to stop barking at passersby going on walks outside of our fence. We are on a corner lot and walking traffic has been increased with the COVID 19 restrictions. It seems that in just a few days, she seems to understand not to bark. When she has the collar on, one low bark, and one spray and she's done. So, we are even leaving the collar off and seem to be hearing less barking. This is a great product for my Aussie. Humane and safe way to stop the barking. After a couple of wearings, when working, she stops barking as soon as I put it on her- without spraying. Here is the problem. The device does not last more than the few months of our Oregon summers. I am about to or Urchase my third collar in as many years. It really is too expensive for such short life. And, yes, I am purchasing another because it does work well. Another problem is that I forget to turn it off so we go through ALOT of batteries. I had used a bark collar that used static shock before, and I was suspicious of it going off when it wasn't supposed to. So I tried this collar thinking, "Yeah right, my dog is not going to care", but it's actually enough of a surprise to him that he does immediately stop his senseless barking. He get's away with very low soft "whuffs" but the mindless barking stopped. It also leaves a clean fresh scent behind. (added bonus I guess!)I have noticed twice that it has gone off without him barking. Both times he had it scrap against a wooden and then concrete surface. I board dogs and have come across a good number of dogs that bark at anything or nothing at all. Add some roommates that work nights & sleep during the day time and well, things can go south pretty quickly. This citronella spray works wonders for curbing excessive barking/whining, doesn’t add to their anxiety and actually leaves the room smelling pleasant. The only call out I have is that you don’t know when it’s empty but I imagine the dogs will let you know! This is an effective tool to conditioning a dogs behavior without causing undue stress. Our new pup now almost 1 1/2 years old, was a barking machine. Hard to control or stop. We got this hoping that would help and it has. Our dog has a LOT of fur and it was hard to get contact but when that issue was resolved we noticed the barking decreased within a day or two. When we took off the collar, there was a tendency for our dog to ramp up again but once it was back on, the excess barking stopped. The dog has now figured out, collar on, no barking. Collar off, barking some is ok. Hopefully that goes away with time. Next we need to work on whining, sigh…Mossman1
The PetSafe Bark Collar has been a tremendous help with our Australian Shepard who loved to bark at anything and everything from dusk until dawn. We put the collar on right away and it started working immediately for him. It doesn't seem to hurt him at all. I think it startled him more than anything but he is fine. We are able to take him on walks now and to the park . The kids are not scared of him anymore and we can actually talk to each other calmly without having to get frustrated trying to talk over his barking. I read all the reviews on a lot of bark collars and the PetSafe Barking Collar – PBC17-16635 by far had the best reviews. After talking with my husband we decided to purchase. Once received we read the instruction manual and did as it said but no matter what we did nothing was working. I emailed and Jason sent through a video lnk which gave us more of a clearer understanding of what to do. Upon following those instructions I cant fault it. I bought the bark collar for my small breed dog who whines constantly & barks at every noise she hears. The collar worked great the first month, and then started shocking her randomly, when she wasn’t making a noise, and then quit all together. I tried to reset it per the instruction manual, and it didn’t work. I have made sure it’s on her neck properly, the green light has still been flashing saying it’s charged after 6wks. I charged it once today, and she has whined constantly since I put it back on her without a shock. So I am very dissatisfied with this collar. The PetSafe bark collar is a basic bark collar with built in levels of correction. repeated barking activate higher levels of correction. In the base model, programming is done with the on/ off button. Confirmation of operation is accomplished by audio feedback. My hearing is not the best, and I had to hold the collar right next to my ear to hear the tones, but otherwise operation is strait forward I tried the collar on two different size dogs with excellent results. One was a medium size dog, a standard Poodle of about 40 pounds and the other, a small dog, a Schipperke, about 12 lbs. Both dogs responded well to the collar. I believe the size of the collar might become a factor in smaller dogs, especially when combined with other collars (license, flea etc.). The collar is rechargeable with any USB source and the USB cable is included, along with a test light and different size tips for the various dogs. I purchased this product for a new puppy who was being crate trained in an apartment. I chose this particular model because of the 15 incremental levels of correction and because of the recharging feature. I have used other models in the past and spent a fortune on model specific batteries. The collar itself was easy to fit. Even on a three month old puppy. It worked as advertised delivering incremental correction upon detecting a whine or bark. The problem is the dog failed to cease barking instead increasing his barks to the given correction. The collar was removed and another attempt was made to use the collar again with the same results. Two other attempts were made but by then the dog became visibly agitated at the site or placement of the collar. I returned the collar to tractor supply without any difficulties for a full refund. I decided to follow a more holistic approach and purchased Naturvet Hemp Quiet Moments soft chews. These chews given 45 minutes before crating do the trick and he now enters and remains quiet. It has taught him his crate is his safe space. The Naturvet product was purchased at Tractor Supply. Purchased this collar from Chow Down pet supplies. It had absolutely zero effect on my dog. He completely ignored whatever sound was coming from the device. I threw this away and got a much pricier static correction collar that has customizable settings. No comparison, much more effective… don't waste your money on cheap pet safe products.D Cooper
When I first got my puppy at 6 months old he would constantly bark. I was told at the store this is not a very good bark training collar, but if I wanted something inexpensive to try it and if it didn’t work I could return it. I was then hesitate that it didn’t work, but still tried it and loved it! Every time he barked you could see the light flash on it. 1 downfall is the collar can be easily rotated around the neck no matter how tight you have it if the scratches at it. It needs to be kept in the front of the dogs neck, and as high up the neck as possible. So you have to keep adjusting it, but I also found it shocks them if they are doing something they aren’t supposed to, and when you yell loudly at them it shocks them as well. So it serves a multipurpose of bark control, and obedience. I only had to use it on my dog for less than a week, and he stopped the constant barking, chewing, and was 100% more obedient! my dog can’t even shake his head without getting a correction. Almost any sound cause him to get a correction so it is scary and confusing for him. It would be nice if there was a sensitivy adjustment but the collar as designed is not helpful. The average bark of a dog compared to the sounds that are setting this off are not the same and all will cause the dog anxiety due to the false stimulations.Heather52

This product does exactly what I expected it to do. It starts with small warning shocks, then works up to stronger ones if my dog continues to bark. Although, it did not take very long for my dog to understand that his barking is what is being corrected! On the first day of its use, he is walking SO much better on leash. He used to bark aggressively and pull anytime he saw people or other dogs, but now he acts like they don't exist and walks calmly! I feel extremely relieved going on walks now. The collar itself is made of a bendable plastic-like material that is waterproof, which is really nice considering we live in Washington where it rains a lot! I love that the power button has a light that lets me know when I need to charge it. The instructions say that it takes around 5 hours to fully charge, but I only charged it about an hour before going on a walk and it worked for a couple of hours! What I love most about the collar is that even though it is labeled for dogs 8lbs. and up, we still were able to get it to fit our 6-7lb. Chihuahua! Purchased this 5 days ago, and have found it to work great! Just after putting it on first time, Curly barked his head off when family drove over for outside visit. I readjusted the fit after that, and has been working very well. When Curly’s normal bug triggers happen ( delivery man), he has let out one big bark.., then just rather cute little woofs. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. We had just moved in about a month ago and didnt want to make enemies. My dog barks at everything. From shadows, birds to airplanes. I decided to give this a try. I have a 10 yr old Coton and she is a barker! She barks at everything. I have tried so many things to help her..shy doggy classes, thunder shirt, apple bitter spray, shake a can of pennies and so many other things. I finally just gave up and decided I will have to deal with it. I work from home and am on the phone, so the barking can be very stressful. When I heard about this collar I decided to give it a try. I waited about 3 days before even putting it on her because I felt bad for her! But after reading about it and knowing it won't hurt her at all I decided to give it a try. And she grumbles at me and quiets up. The spray makes a sound coming out and sprays way out in front of her..no where near her face or eyes. I bought this for a friend that was having trouble with his dog barking after moving to a new apartment. It has been about two weeks and is a different dog. He sometimes goes for a couple days with no spray in his collar. The first time he didn't like the spray and still doesn't but was not expecting the spray nor the smell. We are trying to train our year old German shepherd/Belgian Malinois to stop barking at passersby going on walks outside of our fence. We are on a corner lot and walking traffic has been increased with the COVID 19 restrictions. It seems that in just a few days, she seems to understand not to bark. When she has the collar on, one low bark, and one spray and she's done. So, we are even leaving the collar off and seem to be hearing less barking. Granted, some dogs walking by and barking themselves might trigger her. But, it seems to be much more silent. \nWe had used the shock collar and it worked when it was on but not when it was off. We felt she was not happy when we put that collar on. We didn't seem to be making progress with weaning her off of that collar.

After a few days with this collar, we can definitely see the difference. The collar comes with great instructions and is very easy to use. Purchased this after we could not get our dog from barking at our next door neighbor. Its been about a week and the barking has stopped. I tried the tone and vibration at first and neither had any effect on him. Next i tried the unscented spray. Weve only had to use it a few times and the barking has stopped. I charged the collar and remote when I first got it and havent needed to charge it since. We have used it with our dog, Gus, for many years. The amazing story is that he broke it while running outside. After a couple weeks outside in the heavy rain, we found the broken piece. We were able to glue it on and duct tape it together. It is still working. Pretty amazing quality! Also the customer support reps are great.
