Whistle used to have a useful health tracker, but they changed it such that it provides little useful information now. The tracker itself is horrible, and causes more problems than it’s worth. I only really use it when we’re hiking off leash. It takes longer than 30 minutes to connect when I’m trying to find the location of my dog, regardless of whether he’s out of sight or nearby and I see him. And there are plenty of cell towers nearby. One time it did connect and it — falsely — told me he was in the middle of a highway, and I almost caused an accident trying to find him. I since inferred this was false because another time it told me he was 1 mile away, in the middle of the Mississippi River, about 5 seconds after I saw him near me. Whistle makes me have panic attacks more than I would without it. DO NOT BUY unless they make major changes to its connectivity.William McIntire (Billy)
I have had whistles for several years on several dogs, the classic box shaped health + GPS unit has always worked great. When the dog is away from home it updates frequently even in areas with low cell service. I have had two of these health + GPS + units that have the switchable batteries. Neither have worked. They very rarely alert that the dog has left the home area and even when they do, they are unable to track the dog at all. Even on an hour long hike, it never finds the dog even though there are several dogs wearing classic whistles that are operating perfectly. I live in an area that has about 2 bars of cellular service. This may be the problem but that is common around here and in many rural areas. Some of the health features do work but I buy these units to keep track of my dog and these don’t do that. Get the classic box shaped unit, they’re great. Also, the size guide says these switch units fit on very small dogs and cats. They absolutely do not. I have a 21 pound beagle and the switch was completely unusable on her. The classic unit is a little big but works for sure. The switch did fit my 50ish pound lab border collie mix very well. Whistle, if you are listening, the switchable batteries are a good idea but this design doesn’t work. Design something different and stop selling it, it doesn’t work. I don’t know who needs to hear this at your company but don’t sell things that don’t work. Also, fix your size recommendations for it, they are misleading and wrong.
The data collected about my 2 dogs’ health and activity is great. So far we haven’t received any false notifications about them leaving the zone, which was a problem with the Go. And when one of them took off recently while we were far from home, the location tracker was great and more frequently updated than our old Go models. This was true even in close range when she was hiding in the woods nearby in a very rural area of northern NH. My biggest complaint is the collar itself. With the switch, we cannot choose our own collar. Our dogs are both on the low end of the size, which means a constantly floppy end. The larger dog tries to grab her sister’s collar when they wrestle, which is dangerous. And the two small plastic pieces for holding it in place don’t stay put for more than 5 min. It’s driving us bonkers and we are looking for hacks to keep it in place. Also, the metal grommets already look loose after only a month of use. I’m worried about them giving way. Any of ice or new design on the way? The collar quality is not up to Whistle’s standards. ☹️Catherine K.

If it was a GPS using satellites it would be great, since it uses cell towers and if you live off grid you go down in a little gully it loses contact so it's worthless, good quality though, but no good for me if I'm in town with my dogs they are on a leash, but out here if they run off or get out of my sight I need to find her, hopefully somebody will come out with a product that works off of GPS satellites and has long battery life that stays on all the time.clouddonna

RIPPED OFF/POOR TECH SERVICES BY LINK AKC!We bought the Link AKC GPS collar to be able to keep track of our dog while we are not with her. We had nothing but trouble with the device, so we turned to their Technical Services Group. Not only did they not return calls, as promised, but they were totally inept at figuring out what was wrong with the device! Also, the beautiful collar was peeling in a few days.One day, the device just shut itself off and would not come back on. They even offered to give me 2 months of free service. After 4 days, calls NOT returned, and multiple calls, they gave up and offered to replace it. Once the new device arrived, it would not link to my network. The reason??? They were too lazy or stupid to enter the device's ID number so it could be recognized. Two days and multiple calls later, I gave up.We paid upfront for one year of monitoring, so with the free time and the fact that the device only worked for maybe 2 weeks while they screwed around trying the troubleshoot the issues, I expected a full refund for the service. When I got my bill, they had deducted 2 months for service. My call to Customer Service was a COMPLETE JOKE. They said they do not refund for used time. THERE WAS NO USED TIME. The damn thing was mostly broken. Every time I reminded them of that, they would repeat that they do not refund for used time. I have the transcript because the responses were so stupid, I just had to save it.So…here I am warning you NOT to waste your money!! I have changed over to the Whistle 3 and we will see what happens.jill.b

I switched from Whistle to Tractive for my cat, Knuckles. BEST CHOICE EVER. I find it much, much more accurate than Whistle and the features are awesome! I live on the Columbia River in St. Helens, Oregon. We are remote and surrounded by forest and water. Knuckles (aka “The OG”) likes to walk the “hood” like a mafia Don. I have a dog who loves to escape from the garden. Having spent much of lockdown fencing the garden she still manages to find ways out. If she can't burrow under she goes over. No sooner have I blocked one escape route she has found another. Now with the tracker I receive alerts as soon as she leaves the safety of the garden and I can retrieve her quickly. The peace of mind is well worth the cost. There are other features which are interesting but we don't really use such as how much time she spends asleep per day or how much exercise she takes. The rubber clips which attach the tracker to her collar are rather fragile, but customer support have sent me 3 replacements free of charge. We do get some false alerts that the dog has escaped, but having set the virtual boundary close to the house this is probably bound to happen and I'd rather have this than to miss an escape. Battery life is about 3 days which is more than adequate. The tracker is a little bulky for a small dog (miniature Dachshund) but she's used to it. Overall I am very satisfied with the device and would recommend it for anyone with a Houdini pet.Andrew G.
I hesitated to buy this for a while, since it was a lot of money for me with the subscription cost too. I did a lot of research and finally took the plunge. I had some concerns about my dog running away, getting out or being swiped, but buying this product instantly stopped those concerns. This is so much more than just a tracker. It blew me away. It’s like a FitBit for dogs as well. It keeps track of how active my dog is, tracks her energy output, sets goals for her and even tracks her sleep/rest times. It inspired me to get her out for longer, so she’s healthier for it. I love the live tracking feature. I find it works really well and it’s so easy to locate her, so the peace of mind it gives is next level. I know some have complained about the service in remote areas, but any GPS requires high signal areas. You need to consider how any GPS products would work if you’re in a remote location, although I’ve done a lot of research on this product and heard quite a few people in remote areas had no issue. I love the battery saving feature where you can mark a “safe zone” for the product to go into power saving mode in. You can click a button to check that the product is still working and online while in the “safe zone”, which is helpful. It charges ridiculously quickly and a single charge can last days if your dog spends time in the “safe zone”. The corresponding app works incredibly well too. It’s not glitched once in months of use and works quickly and smoothly. This product was worth every cent. It’s so well designed and thought out, it’s such a smart little product. It’s slimline, succinct and stylish. I feel so much better when she has it on. I’ve gotten so many friends onto this product and everyone loves it. It’s absolutely worth it.bellsssss

This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. The 1/2 mile range is more than enough to reach out and touch her for a friendly reminder to come in for supper. It is not user friendly. The icons for the dog and your location are too small and the contrast on the screen makes it hard to see the little icons in sunny conditions. The collar that came in the box is not bright green as it shows on the box. It is a medium green, harder to see on the dog than the bright green I thought I was getting. My dog was a bit afraid of things like skateboards and public transport and also didn't want to go with any dog sitter I brought to her. A dog trainer recommended this collar to help reduce her anxiety. Soon after putting it on my dog refused to leave my apartment to go for walks. It got worse during the next few days. The dog trainer told me to remove it and some calming pills for now because maybe there was some intolerance. I slowly got my happy dog back. This week we tried again, just the collar this time, no pills. Today was day 3 and I removed the collar and threw it in the trash. My dog over the last 3 days showed so much anxiety that I was unable to get her outside at all today. Any noise outside made her hide. And she barked for the first time since she is with me.Silke
I adopted a very nervous and scared adult dog who constantly scratched and bit herself. I took her to the vet who declared her physically healthy and recommended calming dog biscuits or Benadryl on days she was especially nervous. There was little improvement I saw comments on rescue dog social media sites about using Adaptil as an alternative to what I had been doing. I tried Adaptil and within less than a week I saw a marked difference. She is calmer now, no habitual scratching or biting, settles down peacefully during naps, and is a much happier dog. I will continue to use Adaptil for as long as she needs it as a safe and constant alterative method of keeping her on pills or calming chews. I recommend this to anyone who has a constantly nervous dog.winwinlla
My dog is anxious about trailers and other dogs on our walks. Worked very well for 2 weeks then lost its potency. It is very expensive for only lasting 2 weeks. I have bought the spray and apply it to the dog's harness prior to our walk and it works very well. This will be a better option for me and far cheaperNicky

I liked the idea of a collar with vibration and sound versus shock or static. Didn't want to hurt my dog, just wanted to get his attention. The vibration works the best on mine, he learned within a day or two that when I called his name, I wanted him to come to me. In fact, it worked so well that I no longer need the collar for the negative behavior he displayed when I first bought it. And that's a darned good thing because an updated to the app in late April this year (changed from one app to another, forced not by choice) has rendered the collar worthless. The app itself is impossible to connect to the collar 99% of the time. If I was buying a collar again, I'd buy the same collar but would NOT opt for the phone app. I'd get it with a remote. The collar works, you won't hurt your pup, (don't use the static!) and the end result is the exclusion of negative behavior. Just be sure you don't get the one with the phone app.Mimi2Six
I literally just bought this yesterday! It is such a waste of money. The fact that it disconnects so much, and takes forever to reconnect to the collar is a terrible feature. How are you supposed to train a dog when you spend more time “connecting” to the collar. What a waste of $94. I’ve always been hesitant because I always thought that the smart colors shock the dog but I do enjoy the vibration aspect of it because it’s not harmful to my baby. It’s helping me control behaviors like staying off of the furniture and not pulling on the leash and within the short time we’ve use it I can already see you a little bit of improvement on his behavior in these areas. He will walk next to the couch but will not get on it he’ll lay in front of it which is what we wanted. And he’s also stopped tugging at the leash on walks. I am definitely Happy with this product. I also like that you can control the level of the vibration on the collar. So what we did was we gradually increase the intensity of the vibration until we knew that he could fill it we know that it would probably be a pretty high because he does have thick for him but it startles him it doesn’t it doesn’t hurt him and that’s what’s most important. I love the idea of the safety for my dog. I was able to register him on the website; however, I am unable to get the app to work on my iPhone 11pro for the home perimeter. I am unable to connect with my WiFi. I tried it at least 100 times, and it won't work. I'm pretty computer smart, so I don't think it is me. Other than that, though, this collar should be a must-have for all dog owners. On my neighborhood listserv, one of the common threads are lost dogs, dogs that escapted the back hard. In this regard, I do recommend it. Maybe someday the WiFI feature will work for me. I am thinking it is not compatible with iPhone 11pr, though. Thus, why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.RailbirdJAM
