K9 Advantix 2 Small Dog For Sale (2025 Update)

I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Never had this happen before but definitely going back to Frontline Plus.kschoern

I've sued this for years on our tiny poodles and it works great. They never get fleas, never get sicks from use. The only draw back it the dog smells for about 24 hours. You might not want to pet them agressively during that time.Oregon2017

Not as expected. I have 3 dogs that weigh between 4 to 7 pounds. Followed instructions and had to reapply after 2 weeks as mentioned. I continued picking off old and new fleas until the next dose was due. And it's the same thing. Picking fleas all the time. And this is the second 6 count box (expensive!) So I have given it a fair shot.Karla

I really like that it keeps your pooch free if nasty fleas. K9 Advantix is reliable and easy to use. It's a once a month application and works all month. The only negative is your pooch might be too sensitive for use. You should always do a small skin test before using for first time. My pets always could use without issue but my Ala girl had allergic reaction and her hair fell out every place the medicine touched and her skin was raw. Like with anything else, everything don't work for all. For the majority this is a excellent product.alicia .w

Works great. Lasts for the month. Easy to apply. No skin issues from my pet. It doesn’t seem to bother them at all. No improvement needed. It’s a little pricey but the expectations were met. Would recommend.jennifer.k

I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It helped make the problem not get any worse. But it didn’t solve the problem either.)shelly.c

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I will NEVER buy this crap again. I wanted a preventive treatment for my fur baby, so I purchased these… Bad decision!! I used one and still noticed her scratching so much so that i wondered if I had actually applied it correctly. I ended up putting another treatment on her and nothing! Recommended by our vet to combat the Highland ticks, as well as for fleas, this product is very effective. For the most part, ticks are put off before they bite and those that do latch on are quickly killed and drop off again. No fleas either. Have some difficulty getting through the dogs' dense undercoat to find enough skin to apply the liquid, but that is the same for all spot-on products. Only real drawback is that it shouldn't be used in households with a cat – fortunately we are between cats at the minute.Donna Y

Although I needed to get and pay for a prescription from my vet, having tried Advantix for my dog, and Irish Setter, before I knew just how effective it is but wanted to pay less for it than my vet charges. The cost of the prescription can be defrayed over the three orders that I can make on one prescription so I get a very effective treatment at a significantly reduced cost overall. Untreated my dog picks up ticks readily especially when in bracken, heather and general moorland environments, but Advantix provides tick effective repellence as well as treatment for fleas etc.Robert S

As I was assembling the grill I noticed some damage to the gas side of the lid and flange it sets on . I will send pics of this damage . There was one hole on the lower rack that wasn't drilled out . But I can drill it out but I cant do anything with the dents on itthomatrauernich-0

This is the best grill I ever owned. Its roomy and I love the option of cooking with either gas or charcoal. The only issue we had was putting it together. It was a lot of pieces and took awhile to assembleedglbr_nyvuihpjoa

This works well. It is non greasy and doesn't have a funky smell like some other topical flea meds. The problem with topical is that sometimes they stop working . Therefore you switch to the other brand . But so far I have not had to switch. It definitely works well and recommend to many people.deb.n

I bought this one day on the recommendation of the pet store clerk. What I liked is that it was easy to apply, and it work quickly and efficiently , neither of my dogs had any type of negative side effects, there was no redness or scaliness or itchiness at the point of the application, and less than 36 hours all fleas were sufficiently gone. I did do the reapplication Nearly one week early. Only because it was in the thick of flea season and my neighborhood is filled with stray/feral kitty cats.fran.c

This product is supposed to contain 2.5 ml per vial for the "large dog" size. I bought several that appeared short, so I measured the volume. The 3 vials measured (2 different packs) were closer to 2ml per vial. Therefore, there is a question about the efficacy of the volume/rate provided. I really like the active ingredient combination in the generic and the premium Bayer product, and prefer it helping prevent mosquito-vectored illnesses, in addition to fleas and ticks. However, the reduced volume is a problem–not what the EPA approved. Also, it is odd that our 32 and 42 pound dogs both qualify as "Large Dogs," but that category description conforms with the strange category of Advantix II, the name brand product.BLUF

I tried this no for 2 years. 1st year I only found one engorged tick. this year I've seen 5. engorged. after three monthly treatments. 3 I removed myself, 2 dropped on my floor. though I have not found any fleas what so ever. I'm done with this product. I'm opting for a chewable oral prevention. I read they're more effective then topical meds.Djcountry

I started purchasing Advecta 3 around April of this year. I have a Pitbull/St Bernard mix that has horrible flea allergies. I have tried every flea med on the market and Advecta is the only one he hasn't had any type of reaction to!! I'm so impressed with this product.. he had hair missing around his but and was chewing his tail and feet. Since using Advecta he has stopped all chewing and the constant scratching, he has a beautiful coat. I usually apply every 25 days because between the first application and second was 30 days and I did find a couple fleas but that's not a biggy. I just apply a few days early and no fleas and I have a happy pooch. Thank you!! I honestly didn't think I would find a product he wasn't allergic to…Bosmom2019

Absolutely useless product. I am aware this is only useful for 24 hours. My dog enjoyed eating it as a treat but other than that it's useless! It did absolutely nothing in 24 hours if anything it seemed like it made it worse! All it seemed to do was irritate the fleas and make them bite more! Also another thing to note after taking this my dogs were extremely extremely thirsty like I've never seen before! Please beware and don't waste your money on this useless product like I did pay the extra 20 dollars and go buy a soresto collar.V

My poor boy. The fleas love him. I can give him a flea bath every day and he's still infested. After trying daily baths, over the counter remides treating my yard and topical treatments, nothing worked so I decided to try a oral treatment. I swear by this. After one treatment I would find fleas on my bed (he jumps up on my bed when I'm not looking because I didn't want to share his unwanted friends) my blanket was covered…. of dead or dying fleas. 1 TREATMENT people. Since I do have two big dogs I will be spending the money monthly. Works great and we'll worth it. And my dogs eat the treatment with no issues.Joanne McCullough

I wanted this to work so bad because my dog is highly allergic to fleas and shreds himself up even when he has the topical flea prevention. Even if a dog around him has fleas he breaks out (our neighbor dog has fleas so my poor pup get around them). I saw this and wanted to try to give him some relief to my itchy pooch. The first day, I saw 3 fleas on my dog and purposefully left them on there to see if it worked. I came back in an hour and they were still there. I figured since it says up to 4 hrs I would wait. Later in the day I checked him, fleas still there. So I thought may it took some time for his body to get accustomed to it. The next day same story, he went outside in the morning I checked him saw he has some fleas, gave him a pill checked him about an hour and a half later, fleas are still having a party. Let it set for the rest of the afternoon and checked him before dinner, still the fleas are alive and kicking. 3rd day same story. At this point I can see it isn’t working and I wasted the $25 it costs for it. At least I didn’t spend the $50 for the month. Look at the reviews and notice several of us back to back have rated it the same so obviously something is wrong here. Avoid and save your money and spend it on the more expensive one!Kate

It's affordable and better than similarly priced other topical products. I prefer an oral product but not all will eat it, so I use this for those animals. Lasts about 2 weeks only. Gets rid of about 80% of the fleas.randi s

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I have no proof of that. I just wanted to make others aware that these things happened after the dosing though.pamela.g

Don't really know what changes was done to the formula . But Advantage 2 works no where near as good as it as the original formula . My cat(s) for years have always been an inside cat & used it for years with great success. I recently adopted a cat & started using Adtg.2. A week to a week & a half is about tops before you start to see your cat start scratching again. Not good especially for what they charge for the stuff. Another example of "don't fix it if it ain't broke". But I guess the all mighty dollar took care of that. Next time I take my cat to the vet I'll ask about other options. This product worked wonders last summer here in the heart of rural Ohio, with a river nearby. We used vet-prescribed Interceptor heartworm prevention as well because our mosquito population is astronomical. This April, I had only 2 Interceptors left but 3 dogs needing it. I gave the Interceptor to the 2 with the shortest hair in hopes that things would be okay until our annual vet visit in May. The 2 dogs given Interceptor along with the K9 Advantix II checked out fine, the one without the Interceptor and ONLY K9 Andvantix II for a month ended up with heart-worm. It could have been a coincidence and I wouldn't have even considered a review except for the fact that all 3 dogs are also suffering from fleas. Fleas, and mosquitoes, are not repelled by this product at all this year FOR US. I still have 2 month's worth of this product left and will use it on our elderly dog who goes out for brief periods of time but, at least this year, we will have to try another product for our younger more active dogs because this is just not effective at all. Fleas have been a major issue in our area so it could be an environmental issue which is why I gave this 3 stars. It HAS worked for us in the past, but it did not effectively repel/prevent fleas or, for one dog, mosquitoes this year.alison.m

I have to buy this for my boy because we got problems lol. Let me tell you first off my boy is allergic to fleas and he has sensitive skin so everything is against from the start. I only trust and will buy this brand because it works and it works fast. This has never ever ever given my dog any problems before and when he was younger I tried a few different brands and it was a disaster. I recommend this. Vets recommend this. Dog loves being free of Fleas and Ticks! Veterinarian recommended! Found this at Walmart! Better price than most places I’ve purchased this product from! Easy application! Never irritates her skin and she isn’t trying to lick or scratch the places where this is applied to! Very happy with this brand of Flea and Tick prevention! It’s difficult to narrow it down when you’re looking through the options but I would always choose a more trusted brand like Bayer. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. I am so upset not by the fact that the product didn't work but by the way the company handled it, dodging any responsibility from blaming it on the baths they recommend to the length of time I gave it when they could have just refunded me and had someone that isn't going to not only post this review every place I bought it (not just here) but every other place that allows a review to include social media.Intelhottie

We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. Never had this happen before but definitely going back to Frontline Plus.kschoern

I am hesitant to use these types of products compulsively for preventive measures. Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. This product has always been my go to Flea & Tick choice. It has always worked wonderfully for me. But this year, I dont know what happened but it is just not working for me anymore. Days and into a week after application even, the dogs are still itching and chewing on themselves…this stuff is not cheap, especially when you have multiple dogs.I have bought it twice this year already and neither time has it worked. I know there are other products that say they work and are a lot less expensive but I've been using K9 Advantix II for years and I plan on using it as long as I have dogs! We lived in the city and never found a flea on the dogs after using Advatix. Not on the dogs, in the house, or in the yard. Now we live in the country and there are a LOT of ticks… but none on the dogs. The couple that actually attach per year are dead when we find them. We have 5 dogs from chihuahua to a 100 lb Great Pyrenees mix and it works from tiny to extra large. We have a dog door and the dogs have the run of the house, the pasture and the woods so the dogs are exposed to ticks every day. The only issue I've had that I wish I didn't was the application spots are itchy the first couple days on all the dogs. But with protection like this a couple of days of irritated spots each month far outweigh years of being a flea/tick taxi!Country L

I ordered a flea and tick chewable and you sent me this, which are liquid vials you put on your dogs neck. I don't like this type of product and it isn't a comparable replacement product. Not acceptable.Pamela B
