My big guy isn't exactly what you might call graceful. He's a dork. A giant clumsy dork. So little aches and pains are just a part of our life together. I'm taking ibuprofen because he's nearly pulled my shoulder out of socket after trying to run and hide from the wind and he's taking his doggy aspirin because he tripped over his own feet while running and now yelps every step he takes. Have had pain, aches and muscle inflammation for years particularly on my left knee, ankle and foot; to make matters worse about a year ago the Dr. diagnosed me with an osteoarthritic knee; before that time and since have used many products and devices (non-prescription) seeking to alleviate pain and inflammation. Have had pain, aches and muscle inflammation for years particularly on my left knee, ankle and foot; to make matters worse about a year ago the Dr. diagnosed me with an osteoarthritic knee; before that time and since have used many products and devices (non-prescription) seeking to alleviate pain and inflammation. That is until about mid- August 2014 when I was introduced to Absorbine Liniment Veterinary Gel while visiting a cousin in Puerto Rico, of course I doubted its effectiveness. I put some gel all over my knees, ankles and feet that night; the next morning I was absolutely amazed at how fast pain and swelling had significantly been reduced and within a couple nights and days was relieved. I now use Absorbine Liniment Veterinary Gel once every other night and at times during the morning, as I find this regimen works best for my needs. Am happy as can be to declare for the first time in many years my left knee pain is greatly reduced and muscle and ankle inflammation is under control!
This Gel is NOT just for horses. I was having a terrible pain in my shoulder radiating down to my elbow in my right arm from a car accident years ago (arthritis). The gel did wonders. It was referred to me by a Client of mine that had a very SEVERE case of shingles and after 3 nights of NO sleep, she was told about this gel by a friend, bought it and slept like a baby. Although this product is labeled veterinary liniment and recommended for animals only, I have used it for years for joint and arthritis pain upon the recommendation by my Hollywood Stuntmen friends as the only thing they use. I was pleasantly surprised at the immediate relief felt so have continued to use it since for my personal use and have referred it to many friends who also have become consistent users of this gel product. I prefer the gel since it applies more easily without a mess. I must caution however not to rub your eyes after application until after you have thoroughly washed your hands (and no that is not a word of caution based on personal experience…lol). My dog broke his back just behind his front legs. We opted for home care and eventually chiropractic. The chiropractor recommended Pain Plus. My Jack doesn't mind taking them…BUT…he chooses the dosage! When I see him being stiff I offer a whole one and if he doesn't take it, I break it in half and offer him half. My dog is a rescue, approx. 13 years old & 68 lbs. He has been with us for 10 1/2 years. About two years ago he was diagnosed with Wobblers syndrome. I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I've been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can't use this supplement (I believe it's a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all. They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking. They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven't used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds. FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop. So, if you're like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. Or maybe just contact the company for more accurate dosage instructions. Also, I've had success starting with less than instructed and slowly adding as needed to prevent upset tummies from the diet change.Joy
I have rotated MANY joint supplements over the years, but Nupro Silver is by far my favorite. The value for the money is incomparable for a supplement with such fantastic ingredients. If your dog is picky and won't take supplements, this is your best option. It makes a liver flavored gravy when you add water so they actually go nuts for it. I love that you can cut your portions in half after extended use as well. I purchased this because I looking for a natural liniment specifically for my horse’s back before and after rides. I’ve tried some other natural brand such as Back on Track Limbermint. I don’t feel like this really works very well and eases any soreness compared to the BOT brand. However, it does smell pretty good. Next time I will go with what I know works.Madelyn C.
My horse has mild kissing spine in his thoracic region (two points of contact, possibly a third when under saddle.) His symptoms are very minor but become more noticeable during winter. He will become tense and "ride up" instead of "ride down" as a ride progresses. I saw another review about using this product on a KS horse and figured I would give it a try. I spray it on the affected and surrounding areas, and then I immediately tack him up. It's made a HUGE difference for him. He's so much more comfortable and relaxed. Now, this is not a replacement for vet care/vet treatment, but it's a nice addition to a KS management program. Be warned, this is not USEF legal due to having capsaicin in it, but they do make two "performance" formulas which are USEF legal. I'll be switching to one of those for show season.parider89

Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. If your dog is getting older I recommend this product along with high quality dog food and fresh water.William
I was told my dog had a luxating patella. We would hear his knee popping in and out all the time. Baxter has been on Dasuquin with MSM for many years, and so far we have never had to consider surgery. Baxter gets one full tablet every morning with his morning meal. I think he thinks its a special treat, so he gobbles it right up. I bought this as the reviews were mostly positive. I have only been giving it to my two dogs for about 3 weeks, one is a 8 year old lab mix and the other is a 6 year old English Mastif. I will need to give it more time before I definitively say it is working. Here is what I can say: 1) the dogs are eating it, so it passes the taste test; 2) the have been no adverse reactions; 3) my wife observed some improvement on the labs mobility. My poor Dexter has had his share of skin issues. And there is very little to stop the itch, scratching, biting, and whining. That's why I am thrilled to have this spray. My dogs ate it right out of my hand. I was surprised as all get out. When they don't want it, I put it in the empty cat food can that needs to be washed out and I squash them and they get mixed in and stuck in the bottom of the short can and they lick and lick to get it out. Don't judge me about the can, they have never cut their lips or tongue. My biggest dog was a rescue from a junk yard and he loves at night while we are watching TV, he goes over to the recycle bins and gets a plastic bottle out, he loves to take off the caps and then he is finished.
