We have a Yorkie that loves this stuff! We started with the rolls and he was really eating it up but after a while it took us having to coax him into eating. We came across these and from the first time we gave it to him, he licks the bowl clean each and every time. It is now the only food that I will feed him. After my 7 month old puppy was healing from a spaying surgery (just got back from) her appetite was gone, but the only thing she would eat was Freshpet chicken treats. We tried giving her normal kibble and some beef wet food but she wouldn't touch it, she's never had beef before though so that might've played a part. My mom decided to try FreshPet and my dog went crazy for it, ate the whole thing in one sitting and even picked up the paper plate and flung it around. She's never ever done that in the 4+ months we've had her, we've tried multiple kibble/wet food brands as well. We've switched to the Vital line rolls and she still likes them, we mix with her normal kibble and she eats around the kibble (she usually comes back to finish it after). This food is definitely worth the price although the feeding guidelines seem a little too much. The kibble we fed promises shiny coats (which it did provide) but with freshpet her coat is even more shiny and she's so much more happier to eat. Product itself is great!! I use multiple different products on a daily basis by Freshpet for both my large dog and a little dog. Both dogs love all the products and aside from making their dog food myself Freshpet is the only food that has helped my large dog who has terrible allergies!! That being said there isn’t enough room on here for all of my suggestions/comments/questions and would love to speak with either someone in marketing or someone in charge of creating or both! I would most definitely recommend a friend to this product and I have gotten a lot of my friends to switch over to Freshpet from dull/dry nasty dry dog food. I just wish more products were available at the stores I buy from and I’m not sure if people are just finding out about this company or what is the deal but I have had to go to four stores just to get everything I needed/wanted because everywhere had one thing or nothing! I foster a lot of dogs, sometimes they come to me incredibly malnourished – to the point that they have been starved. Why did you change the texture of this bag of dog food??? From a pebble like little ball and go to this stringy like chicken. It is easier to separate the carrots and cranberries out of it. My 15 year old italian Greyhound -Lexi was declining due to old age which was very sad. I was beside myself and thought maybe a change in food might help so we decided to.give freshpet a try. To our amazement, we gave her the recommended amount and before our eyes it was like her life was revived. Mine you, the vet said it would be up and down but this was up all the way. She may pass by the end of the year or even two weeks or not at all, but because of your food she has the vitality she needs to stay with us a little longer. We were contemplating euthanasia, but we have decided to just take one day at a time as she is not suffering. It seems that she is happier and eating up a storm. She loves your food. She is moving and walking so.much better. We truly believe that there is something in your food that helped her. My 8 yr old English bulldog Rosie started aging very quickly in December, loosing partial sight, joint issues. She has always had very bad allergies on prescription drugs & food. In March she seemed to loose interest in life, not wanting to eat, just laying in her bed wetting herself, sleeping all day. I thought Rosie would just pass away or I would have to have her pts, it was awful seeing her so listless. We found this food at our local BJs Wholesale store about 2 years ago. A friend of mine, who feeds her animals exclusively raw food, recommended this food and said that if she couldn't prepare her dogs' food, this is what she buys. So we bought it! It looked good and I read the ingredients. We have 2 dogs: Schmooby, a 10 year year old, laid-back, snuggly Norwegian Elkhound/Shiba Inu/Spaniel/Beagle mix and Artie Bloo, a very active, playful 7 year old Australian Cattledog. Both of our dogs LOVE this food and their coats look excellent and their health is excellent. I really like that Freshpet that comes in the little round pellets, although I have used the rolled food and the one that looks shredded as well. This is our personal preference. It's very easy to measure out. We give this to our guys once a day, the other meal they get a grain-free kibble. I usually make our lil guy’s food but didn’t have the time to do so this week. We chose to give the “frozen, ready to use, version of the DIY chicken and rice kit that I use. I divided it into 6oz baggies to use (I use a kitchen scale for 100% accuracy), and I only got 10 baggies out of the 72 oz bag, leaving me extremely short (12 ozs to be exact). I won’t use this again as it’s not cost efficient with 12 ounces of water. As for taste, my dog couldn’t tell the difference between what I make and the JFFD frozen recipe. 3-4 months ago new packaging has been used for the 72oz size and it seems that the net weight is now including food and water weight. The old packaging did not have so much water in it as it does now. There was actually 72oz of solid food in it. There is an excessive amount of water in the new 72oz packages. From what I measured, there is now only 56 oz of solid dog food. I've been buying this dog food for a year and the reason why I am bothered by this change. Besides the water content, the new packaging is not waterproof. The seal breaks at some point because of the poor design of the new packaging. There is food, the plastic seal, and then 2-3 inches of extra plastic that is not filled with food. So if you thaw the food in a bowl of cold water, that cold water seeps into the package…I have to put the package in a 1 gallon plastic bag and then in the bowl of cold water. It is a big inconvenience to have to drain the dog food every time I need it. Before it was thaw and transfer to a container. The amount of water in the package was never noticeable and was just the right amount to keep the food moist. It was 98% just food… Now it is thaw, place dog food in strainer, wait 5 mins to drain out water, but not all of the water because then the food becomes very dry…then transfer into a container. I am now in search of a new brand. I am not confident that the amount of nutrients is consistent every time I drain the food…not sure if it is being washed away from draining it. I recently got a Chinese Crested as the result of a need to rehome. He was usually fed puppy chow of some brand and the former owner was supposed to provide enough for me to phase him over to this brand after I’d researched and decided this would probably be best for him. Because of this she is on a homemade diet, but she does have kibble as a midnight snack. My Great Dane, Galaga, has been on Instinct Rawboost Large Breed Puppy formula since she was 4 months old and she is currently 8.5 months old. We had tried 2 other dog food brands before this one and all of the caused her tummy problems. Once we found Instinct and she didn't have tummy issues, we knew we were set for life. She have a very sensitive stomach and is allergic to beef, whitefish, and peanut butter, so the variety in proteins has been incredible! This past Sunday, I had to take Galaga into the emergency vet due to intense vomitting. Long story short, she got a bacterial infection in her stomach and instestines and is already feeling better. Her appetite took a huge hit and the vet put her on a chicken and rice diet. Normaly, any dog would be happy to have something new and luxurious like that, but Galaga only ever ate around the rice. Now she usually eats 6 cups of food a day and was barely eating 1 cup at this point. I was getting desperate and decided to put some Instinct Mixers in with the chicken and rice and sure enough, she only ate the chicken and the mixers. When giving her the medications she was on, I tried giving her turkey cold cuts, cheese slices, and pepperoni, but she wouldn't eat any of those. I decided to try using Instinct Raw grass-fed lamb to wrap around her pills and she gobbled it up! After only 3 days, Galaga is back up and running around like normal and has her personality back. They say that dogs know what's good for them, and Galaga agrees that Instinct is the best dog food out there. I am beyond grateful for the team behind this dog food. It is so difficult finding the perfect dog food for our beloved pups, and I am extremely confident that what I'm feeding my pup is healthy and delicious for her. I was looking for a low carb, higher fat and protein dog food for my fat dog, trying for a more ketogenic diet which we are on as humans and have lost a lot of pounds and inches. Unfortunately, this dog food is not working and causing him to gain weight. Also, if you know what Tender Vittles is in cat food, that is all this softer pieces of kibble are. There is maybe 12-15 pieces in 1 cup of dog food. Not sure what it is supposed to do. My dog wasn’t crazy about it but eventually ate it and gained weight over a period of 2 weeks. I have been searching for an affordable food that my dog would eat, was made in USA, free of liver (my dog is allergic) and used humanely raised animals. Vet's Choice fit the bill. Max, who is 10 years old, is loving NowFresh Adult Dog Food in the Lamb and Rice flavor. I love that it never includes by products or meat meal filler. It does have sustainable protein rich plant ingredients, antioxidant rich veggies and fruits to support immune function, taurine to support vision and heart health and pumpkin to support digestion. Make sure your pups, young and old, are getting the right nutrients and ingredients to keep them happy and healthy! Another thing I like about this dog food is it doesn’t have that horrible smell that some dog foods have. I think it smells better than most because the ingredients are better and higher quality. When switching your pups food make sure to slowly transition. I have 2 small Chihuahuas, which enjoyed this and I completely followed the transitioning instructions when starting this pet food. I had no issues with resistance to it, pleasant surprise as they are usually so snobby about their food. I appreciated that it's all very authentic and natural. No artificial colors or flavors, no additives or hormones, smell is definitely mild, I really dont smell anything to it at all and even better there is no greasy residue left in the bowl, which I notice with most all dry dog foods. The bag closes in simplistic but beneficial manner, sealing by means of Velcro Ziploc, keeping fresh for an extended period, awesome plus, however nothing attention grabbing with the bag decor and coloration. Just got my bag of Now Fresh Small Breed Puppy Food and was so excited to have the puppy, Simon, try it. He’s only 7.5 months old so still should be on puppy food. It’s hard to review puppy food. Simon is notoriously picky about his food, so this review should be taken with a grain of salt as it may be completely different for your puppy. I can only convey how he responded. (1) He actually ate NOW FRESH, so that’s a big plus to start with. The kibble size is tiny, so if you have a real toy dog or if your puppy is much younger, the size works well for that. The smell is pleasant. It’s not particularly meaty and appetizing, but it’s not off-putting at all like some dry dog foods tend to be. It’s a grain-free food, and that is my preference, but it has a lot of peas and pea products in it. (The latest villain in the dog food world appears to be peas; take it for what you will.) I have zero complaints about the ingredients personally and would gladly feed any of my dogs this level of food, providing they love it. (2) COMPARISON TEST: With dog foods, my main gauge is whether a dog likes it MORE than what they’re currently eating. I’m not going to compare a low-end food with a high-end or vice versa; that would be unfair and also a bit ludicrous in that someone who is feeding low-end dog food isn’t going to buy a $80 bag of food just because the dog likes it more, and someone feeding $80 food to their puppy isn’t going to switch to “Puppy Chow” without trying every other brand. Right now, my puppy is on Orijen Small Breed Dog Food. I went through Nutrisource, Merrick, Farmina, and The Honest Kitchen so far in his short life, looking for something he will “love.” Thus far, Orijen (small breed, specifically, as I haven’t tried other food from the line for him) is his favorite. RESULT: When given both bowls of food, the puppy opts for Orijen, hands down.
