I've had the chance to use Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Hot Spot and Itch Relief Medicated Shampoo for Dogs and Cats on both one of my dogs and one of my cats. The product works as described when used in accordance with the instructions. After a few daily baths of our dog, she stopped scratching a spot, I suspect was Poison Ivy, that she rolled in on day. My cat was scratching a spot on her neck constantly, so I braved giving her a bath. After one bath (thankfully!), she stopped scratching the area. She's an indoor cat, so I'm not sure what caused this, as there were no signs of having been scratched or any signs of fleas. After their baths, bot the cat's and dog's coats felt better and looked cleaner. It left their coats still shiny and hydrated – not dry and frizzy. Both the dog and cat have short coats. The flip up top and bottle constructions a such that it is easy to open and close, when you are struggling to keep a cat calm or an overzealous dog still when applying the shampoo. Our dog has seasonal allergies, rye grass is the worst. We try to avoid grass on walks because just the smallest amount creates hot spots on his skin. Then the scratching is non stop further antagonizing the hot spots. We try to keep a healthy, natural diet, including supplements because he does have so many allergies. We have been using a topical ointment on hot spots, but we have stayed away from the shampoo’s for varied reasons including active ingredients. The active ingredients in this shampoo are: Lidocaine, oatmeal, and hydrocortisone. The topical ointment we have used has Lidocaine and hydrocortisone. I know oatmeal is very soothing for itching, so we decided to give the shampoo a try. About 24 hours after the first bath, we saw significant improvement on the hot spots. They were actually shrinking and covering up. Our pup stopped scratching and was able to actually get some rest. This is quit impressive considering how miserable he has been. We have bathed him twice with the shampoo, and the hot spots are pretty much non existent. The fragrance is very light, but a little antiseptic smell.momof31129

We have two wild and rough housing shepherds. We live out in the boonies and run them in the morning, through the rugged desert trails. This time of year there are stickery little pesky plants that attach themselves in between toes, dog tails, and under bellies – not to mention all over my pants & socks. I noticed that the younger pup was chewing her arms to the point of it being raw. I like that this product has Coconut Oil Based Cleansers, Colloidal Oatmeal, and a touch of Hydrocortisone…. We decided to give it a shot, as we were fairly certain that her itchiness was likely due to tearing through the tumble weeds. As I was soaping her up, I noticed that the product had a nice mild, clean scent. It had a wonderful, silky, creamy consistency, and lathered up gorgeously. I lathered and rinsed just the one time, towel dried her, and kept her inside for a few hours. Once she was mostly dried, I brushed her outside and was amazed at how soft and clean her fur felt. My dog has been having such problems with his skin, super itchy and has always been very sensitive. He licks a lot and creates hot spots etc… After he got an infection and we had to put a cone around his head this has helped sooooo much to clear up his skin condition! I have a 5 year old pocket bully who has allergies and very sensitive skin. This shampoo gives her noticeable relief as soon as shes out of the bath. Well after advocate spot on not doing it's job I had to change to an oral solution and this still didn't work so nearly 2month later I get davis benzoyl peroxide dog. With only one treatment the bald patches have gone after 3days yes the coat is a slight bit wirey feeling but with the hair growing back I can now wash with normal dog shampoo to give a soft coat again thanks to this product. I just want to share our experience with the Veterinarian formula clinically care Dog shampoo. I just moved into this apartment complex Jun 2019 and on June 26 2020 picture one. We had a opportunity to rescue this beautiful black dog with some white under her neck (red when we got her because of the leash the lady had on her was twice the size she should’ve had and it rubbed her neck raw where she tied her outside). So as soon as we seen her we knew we wanted to bring her to our loving home where I share my home with my fiancé and 3 children. The ages 12,15,&18. So that day we brought her home and because she was tied outside a lot so with that . We immediately gave her a flea and tick bath and used Walmart brand flea and tick repellent. For her to wear around her neck (Now think about it … her life has completely changed at this point and she was loving it)Then we allowed her to roam the house and to find her spots. All she came with was a cage for her size a bag of Ol Roy and a 2 way oversized hoodies. The lady said here is her food and she’s uses the bathroom outside (obviously) and I asked how will she tell me she has to go? She said not to worry she’ll let ya know then she laughed…. Since having her home after a few hrs she started to warm up us… trusting us. She came with dog food she refused to eat!! Absolutely refused so we got her kibbles and bits and she loves it!! She was wagging her tail with enjoyment and happiness! So I figured she was ok with us. As far as her activity she was active she wasn’t showing a bit of grieving one bit as far as we could tell. (However, with going to the bathroom situation she was horrible at first peed everywhere and pooped behind couches and such but I’ve converted over to puppy pads.) THAT WAS A JOB! yay! Then over a few weeks I noticed her itching and scratching and over the weeks progressively gotten worse… The second Picture (Waiting at the Vets in the floor of the car) I took her to the Vet see if it’s allergies,nerves, etc . Because it started out of no where with no warning signs other then the scratching and scratching so he prescribed a steriod to take at home and a shot of steroids an with giving her those it chilled her down from scratching as much as she was and seemed to be helping but the after a few months she has now gotten even worse than she was she was bleeding all over!! The third picture is her second time to the vet trying to get more information and help not a lot was given but he did say he believes it may be a a airborne allgrine and she would need a shot every 6-8wks she is clothed we couldn’t bare showing how her skin looked was awful (winter she was bare skin with several abrasions where she begun biting herself )😭😭 so after that visit I researched Amazon for help researched google and ran across this shampoo and God am I so ever glad because after a few washes here she is today looks sooo shiny she now looks like picture number 4&5 !!!! Adopted a pocket bully from a lady 2 weeks ago and noticed he had what she called 'hotspots' ALL OVER him. We felt so bad and wanted to do something quick but wasn't sure wat it was exactly that he was enduring. So we picked up coconut oil and fish oil pills to start him on for his coat and skin. Well as healed within a week but noticed REALLY inflamed and almost bleeding rashes on back of his neck and knew we had to do something. Went to Walmart today and found this stuff because we came to the conclusion it has to be se type of skin condition dermititis or parasitic…wasn't too sure but his skin was soooo dandruffy and flaking . Used this as soon as we got home. Followed directions. Left on for 15 minutes ….after he dried off noticed NO DANDRUFF FLAKES!! I rubbed down his back and his back wasn't crunching up from inflammation like it usually does wen I softly scratch down his back . instantly shiny and softer . Happy dog. My 14 year old Chihuahua had weeks of horrible itching and scratching. He had terrible hard scales peeling off of his back that started in small patches and then spread to most of his back. Some of the spots started to bleed. I could not afford hundreds of dollars the vet wanted just for lab tests alone. I kept special Vasaline on him and that helped some. I recently received a sample of the Vetericyn Foam Care Medicated Shampoo to try. I have 3 small short hair dogs that have dry skin issues in the cooler months. I was able to put the shampoo to the test after my little guys decided to roll on some dead critter out in the back 40. They all came in tails wagging and smelling like week old road kill. First off, the spray nozzle on the Vetericyn Foam Care is a great idea! This made bath time so much easier. You can spray the foam shampoo exactly where you need it. No more filling your hand or slopping shampoo on the pup's back. There is no heavy medicated smell from the shampoo. It almost instantly killed the horrendous odor the dogs had. After they all got dried, there was no odor or any sort of medicated smell. They all smelled like puppies again. I like the fact the Vetericyn Foam Care leaves a neutral smell. I also have not noticed the normal itching from the cold weather. I give tha Vetericyn Foam Care Medicated Shampoo an A+. I will definitely continue to use this product on my pups. I like this product. I really like the design of the bottle and how it is a spray/foaming formula. That really does make the shamooing process easier, although, once I had sprayed it a few times, I don't think my dog was a fan of the spray noise. I have to give my dog a bath daily with Chlorohexidine shampoo due to his severe allergies. It's the only thing that really helps topically. I did use this in addition to the Chlorohexidine, and I feel like it helped some with drying out his rashes. Unfortunately, there's only so much I can do to help my dog with allergies. I haven't found a cure or anything that gets rid of the redness, flaking, and itching he has. Because of the spraying option, this is easier to use for getting on his belly/under his legs. I think it's an effective product, just not sure how effective since my dog has a chronic allergy issue. It has a nice smell as well! Clean but not fruity or overwhelming. This shampoo is not only so easy to use, it's been such a good product to use overall! The foaming spray makes lathering so much easier since I don't have to spread a gel shampoo so much just to make sure it doesn't sit mostly in one spot. The shampoo didn't seem to overdry my dog's coat or skin, but it was really good at removing all the dirt either way. Because it's a foaming shampoo, it also washes away so much more easily which saves me time and effort with washing her. She smelled so clean and her fur looked so healthly after the first use! I was even more surprised that her clean scent basically lasted all week despite her repeated rolling around in the grass and on carpets. I couldn't stop petting her and sniffing her fur! I bout this for my dog today. Here’s a backstory of the problem. So my dog had his last bath earlier this month, he was itching and scratching and even flaking! And had a kind of fungal smell to him. I’m not sure. I examined his skin didn’t see any bumps or anything but he was CONSTANTLY scratching. So I read reviews on this product before buying Let me tell you, he hasn’t scratched once and it’s been 2 hours since his bath. Previously when we gave him a bath he scratched within 20 minutes. So this is a huuuuge improvement. I would recommend this product. Give it a try and watch them. If it doesn’t get better then def take them to the vet. Got a tip from a Petco groomer to use this product (Espree tea tree and aloe) for my wheaten terrier who has lots of allergies and itchy skin. She recommended it over oatmeal shampoos – which I thought were appropriate but apparently are drying and can contribute to the itch. She was right, this shampoo is great, doesn't make him itch, stops the itching, and helps to calm his skin when red and irritated. It isn't going to fix a bad problem since it isn't medicated, but it certainly helps with the more minor irritations. Plus, it lathers nicely and removes the greasy build-up that he gets during a flare, and it smells really fresh and rinses nicely. I also use the same brand/type in conditioner as well in the winter. I have been using this product weekly for a couple years now, very happy with this and had previously tried many other options. This is the best for our allergy-dog situation that I have found.nb123

I like this product very much. It was very good for my dog's sensitive skin and he seemed to like it. While it did not stop the itching problem itself, it made it much easier for me to manage. I found out his dry skin wasn't causing the itch but the shampoo did its job. His coat looked healthier and his dandruff lessened. I used to manage a pet store and I loved this stuff. I recommended it to everyone and they all thanked me. But sadly it's changed. The scent was the first thing that I noticed different. It used to smell wonderful and left your pet smelling fresh for days…it doesn't smell good anymore, it smells like 1000 other dog shampoos. Secondly it was soothing and I know this because in a pinch a few times I used it myself. Now it's no more or no less soothing than any other pet shampoo. I was very disappointed in the changes. I applied this shampoo for the first time on my Westie and after a few minutes she began to jump around and scream like I have never seen before. This shampoo did not agree with her skin at all. I recently was looking for a good shampoo for my dog and settled on the John Paul Pet Oatmeal Shampoo. This shampoo is for both dogs and cats. It is a 16 ounce bottle, the scent I got was the [oatmeal. I really like these shampoos are tested on humans first! Not on our cute furry friends! This shampoo has a nice subtle smell which fades nicely after a few days and keeps your furry friend soft and clean. I found that it definitely keeps their coat soft and doesn't dry out their skin. If your dog is suffering from chronic skin allergies or infections this will not cure that! It is only good for soft fur and good smelling, clean pets! My dog suffers from hot spots on his feet and it makes him just miserable as one heals and another pops up in a different spot. My vet recommended I try a shampoo formulated specifically for hot spots and I found this at a major online retailer. A sixteen ounce bottle ran me about $7 as an add on item which I thought was quite economical since my dog is so small and that one bottle should last me through many, many washes. The formula uses Tea Tree Oil, Aloe Vera, Chamomile to calm dry, itchy skin and despite being a bit strong smelling during the bathing process the smell does not linger after drying. After the first bath with this I noticed a definite improvement in my dog's spots and he seemed more relaxed and less prone to lick the sore areas. After a month of weekly baths his spots were gone and they have not reappeared since. He also had a bit of a dandruff problem during the summer as he likes to sit outside and sunbathe which dries out his skin. Very best natural shampoo on the market. My little morky is allergic to flea bites and if even one gets on her she will start scratching and all her hair starts falling out yntil we do something to get them off her which is usually a pill and a good bath to clean off the eggs this shampoo does exactly what its advertised to do and I hope they never stop making it. LOVE Vet's Best Hot Spot shampoo. My dog developed seasonal allergies a few years ago and was sneezing and itching SO badly she was ripping her fur out in multiple places. We went the gamut of Prednisone and veterinary shampoos for allergy and yeast infection producing hot spots in my dog last year. I did some research when the hot spots started this year and saw good reviews on Mane and Tail antibacterial shampoo. It worked better than I could've hoped. My 5 year old American Bulldog is white and has very sensitive skin. He plays and works hard. Since he was a puppy he's been prone to skin issues especially under his belly. Mites are a big problem where I live and can really cause him problems. Ive found that this shampoo as a supplement to his regular shampoo gets rid of these skin irritations. If you want sulfur in your shampoo, this is the stuff. My dog has some mange on the underside from laying in the grass I guess. He's only on the lawn when I'm out with him, no walk in the woods, etc. This seems to be getting rid of it. I am also using a 10% ointment rubbing on the two areas. After two weeks, the scoptic scabies are almost gone. I tried neem oil and the other home stuff, but nothing worked like this shampoo and the 10% ointment.
