Let me lead with saying that after I came back here to look closer, yes, the website does indeed say these are tablets and not chewables. That said, I did not see that the first time I ordered and was misled by the "Generic for Heartgard" language. In human medicine, generic meds are the same as name brand and I made the (false) assumption this would carry forward. While these do indeed have the same active drug as the name brand, don't be fooled into thinking this is a "flavored" tablet. It's a very hard tab. My dogs usually willingly take medications even without an incentive like a treat. However, with these, it was a massive struggle. No matter what we tried to hide the tablet in, they refused to eat it, and even the old "put it in the back of their throat" trick was a struggle. For a comparison, if you've tried giving your dog Trifexis, it looks just the same. We eventually got these into our dogs, though it was traumatic for all involved. I certainly won't be doing this again. I'm returning the remainder and buying the name brand. The relatively small difference in price simply isn't worth the trauma to my dogs.Brandon

I have two senior dogs that gets soooo excited for these. They think they’re getting treats when it’s time for these. I have seen improvements in the short time using these for my dogs. Our 10 year old Yorkie no longer have a hind leg issue she has been having. We did cut both of their diets down to help with weight management but these have been great for both of them as this was the only thing that was different and introduced into the routine prior to them having back leg issues. My German Shepard and Chocolate lab enjoyed these treats for a few days until the lab jumped on the dining table and ate the entire bag. So we’ll call the treats a success. I've been using Heartgard Plus Chewables with my 2.5 yr old Schneagle since she was a puppy and old enough to take them. Started my other dog on them when she was adopted 1.5 years ago. She had to be treated for heartworms before I adopted her, so I am understandably anxious to make sure neither dog gets infected. Both dogs pass their annual heartworm test with negative results every year and their vet approves of my choice for a preventative. I have used Heartgard Plus on all my dogs since 2015 with no issues. I give it on the 20th of every month. I have never missed a dose nor have I been late. My dogs are inside dogs and only go out to run and use the bathroom. Last Saturday, my Weimaraner tested low antigen positive for heartworms. I was shocked so we took her for a second opinion. She tested low antigen positive at the second vet too. I am being told a number of dogs in our area have tested positive on Heartgard Plus. I am just sick.deborah.a

Our 9 year rescue pup Lily, has been taking Heartgard since we adopted her at 12 weeks old. She has had issues through her life, bad hips resulting in surgery her first year, but her heartworm tests have always been negative. Lily has no problem taking them like treats. The 2 dogs we had before Lily were also on Heartgard with no problems. They both passed at 14 from complications of old age. At one point I considered changing meds, to something less costly, but decided I didn't want to take the chance with the dog I love.Barb

I waited a year to write this review, figuring that was enough time to have something to say. My 12 year old Maltese was diagnosed with CHF a little over a year ago. She has been taking Vetmedin along with enalapril and furosemide (which I'm far less enthused about her being on but that's a whole other story) and has been relatively her normal self. She takes one full pill in the morning and then a half a pill at night. I can't say what our reality would be if she weren't taking this since there's no way for me to know that, but she's still with me a year later and I'm VERY grateful for that. I like to think that Vedmedin is part of the reason why. She had a successful six month followup with her cardiologist in April and we go in very soon for her next one. One cannot underestimate how important that herbals are made with high quality ingredients, correctly and by someone that understands their uses. PetWellBeing is all that. I was on the website looking for something to help my elderly chihuahua because I was unhappy with the meds the doctor had given me. You see he was in heart failure, and they always act like they are looking for them to die soon. I didn’t want that . I’ve used this brand of heartworm medication for all of my dogs during their lives. I was an avid customer but since an incident with the company I now question if the product is still effective. Our 10 year old jack Russell was given heartgard monthly for her whole life when at 10 years old she tested positive for heart worms. Our vet is a participant of the heartgard satisfaction guarantee and rebate program so they immediately contacted the company with our previous negative tests and receipts to try to get them to pay for the expensive treatment. Instead of trying to immediately treat our dog they tried to poke every hole they could in our case. It took long time but eventually they did re-compensate us some amount of the treatment. Of course, as good pet owners, we immediately paid for the treatment that ultimately saved her life. It’s just sad that we could have lost our pet if we would’ve waited on the company to pay for treatment. The fact that she had been on heartgard monthly for her whole life & still contracted heart worms is what makes me question if this product is still effective. Another thing that really irks me about this company is that they have never sent me the promised rebates (prepaid Visa cards) they say should come in the mail 6-8 weeks after purchase of x amount of their products. Literally just in the lives of the dogs I have now equal $180 worth of not received rebates. It’s sad but now I will be looking for another brand & urge others to do the same. I agree that my dog, a lab hates the flavor and was seeking out the pill and spitting it out until I tried baby food turkey and chicken in the little jars. I use a baby spoon and bury the pill in the meat. She gobbles it up and does even notice even the pill. We do it on an empty stomach first thing in the morning. My 12 year old Shiba Inu had 850 liver enzymes. That's so bad and I was so stressed. She has been on this stuff for over 1 year and now her enzymes are about 420. I read some other reviews on how people are getting their dog to take the pill and I laughed because it's what I do also! Cocker has “dry eyes and prescribed steroids and cyclosporine twice daily each eye. Suspect his extremely elevated liver enzymes may be due to long term steroid use or could just be his age. Haven’t tested for Cushing’s but sonograms reveal no tumors on liver or pituitary glands. He was lethargic and never feeling well until his doctor advised trying the Denamarin. His Opthalmologist concurred it was a great idea. Haven’t yet tested his liver enzymes again to see if the numbers have improved (hasn’t been on them quite a full month) but I’ve reordered and will receive the pills monthly. Bottom line: he’s a lot more energetic, playing with his toys again, not sleeping all the time, just overall feeling so much better. He’s acting normal again—normal for an 11-plus year-old Cocker. Did a lot of research before giving him the Denamarin and felt they were safe, and most people had positive results using it. Only drawback would be that the pills for large dogs are really big. You’re supposed to administer 1 hr before or 2 hrs after a meal, which I do with a little piece of boiled chicken breast to hide it and help it go down, and it goes down without a problem. Can’t imagine any dog of any size being able to swallow a pill that size without an owner hiding it in a little chunk of something, cheese, pill pocket, treat. Anything to help it go down easier. And helps if they drink a little water. Can’t wait to have his liver enzymes tested again. I’m confident they will have improved. Side note: when one’s liver is not working properly, urine can have an odd and strong odor, which his did. Standing several feet away, I knew something wasn’t right. That too has resolved which makes me believe his liver is on the mend.Yvonne

Vet said I should take my cat to have an echocardiogram to see how the heart is & what was causing the murmur. I took it from my cats. One especially has an issue with the eyes. The orange tabby has a wet eye when he eats. He is very picky so I try to hide the powder in his wet food. Let me say that this helped him a lot especially when given every day. I know that L lysine is very good for viruses. like Herpes virus and EBV. My orange tabby has herpes virus and was pretty sick when he was young. I do not know about the taste but if you have a picky cat like me better hide it in his favourite wet food. It’s very sad to share that we lost our dear Cat due to kidney stone / kidney failure just a few days ago. After receiving this product I quickly added into my cat’s diet after he came back home from hospitalisation. However he slowly lost his appetite until we could not give him any water, food and medication. Just want to share how important it is to give your love pets enough fresh water and not depend on those conventional dry food and wet cans. I had my cat when he was only 3-4 months old 11 years ago. I did not know we could give him fresh real food as there were no such awareness of eating raw and eating real food for pets like what we have today. While I appreciate that chicken hearts are nutritious for dogs, these are so hard as to be unchewable for my small dogs even though they are strong jawed terriers. This is the first time I have purchased them so I can't say whether this is normal for this product. Perhaps a larger dog could swallow them whole but I think they represent a choking hazard for small dogs. My dogs do like the taste so I have been crushing them with a mortar and pestle and adding them to their food.Terri P.

He would eat the whole bag in two seconds if he could, but I only portion it out to him when I’m trying to train him or when he’s been a really good boy. It’s a good healthy treat. My dog broke his back just behind his front legs. We opted for home care and eventually chiropractic. The chiropractor recommended Pain Plus. My Jack doesn't mind taking them…BUT…he chooses the dosage! When I see him being stiff I offer a whole one and if he doesn't take it, I break it in half and offer him half. My dog is a rescue, approx. 13 years old & 68 lbs. He has been with us for 10 1/2 years. About two years ago he was diagnosed with Wobblers syndrome. I started using this product afte my 7 year old dog was diagnosed with a Thyroid issue. Two of my dogs tested severely hypothyroid. The first was only 2.5 years old, a neutered male deaf boxer. This was found after numerous issues that almost became fatal when he experienced anaphylactic shock last Dec. I finally found a holistic/traditional vet to figure out the root issue for him. I would have never guessed he was hypothyroid!?! He was friendly, hyper, full coat, great weight, you name it. Ultimately though he got way softer fur and decreased or eliminated allergy symptoms (paw licking, scratching, puking, etc.) after starting this supplement. My 12 year old spayed female plott hound was recently diagnosed hypothyroid as well. She had more classic thyroid symptoms (weight gain, less energy, etc.) but still had a soft full coat of fur. As an added bonus of these and other natural food and supplement changes, she is less aggressive and less reactive than she has ever been before! She used to bark at her butt daily likely due to incontinence urine burn, and that stopped too (the barking and the leaking)! She also quit her daily head shaking (likely ear allergies). I only wish I had learned all this sooner! I do use the instructions on the internet, at 1 pill per 30lbs twice per day. So my boxer gets 5 pills per day (75 lbs) and my plott gets 4 per day (60 lbs). It works wonderfully! Been using it daily and a couple other things as needed (omegas, multi-vitamin) on the boxer for about 6 months now. It's very distressing to find 3 happy engorged ticks on your dog 24 hours after treatment following all the requirements re: proper placement location on the dog, shaved the hair to make contact only on the skin, no water on the dog for 24 hours or at all after treatment. I was frankly, pretty shocked. This is an older small dog with arthritis. He is already in some pain and to find the ticks on him on top of this frankly really upset me. I breed Chihuahuas and I also foster cats/kittens. My Chihuahuas are litter box trained so they rarely get fleas because they dont spend a whole lot of time outside. Even when we go for walks, theyre in a dog stroller lol. Anyways… I fostered a litter of kittens that were found outside and covered in fleas. I gave them all dawn baths because they were too small for any flea medicine and my Chihuahuas ended up with fleas. I needed a product that was safe for pregnant/ nursing mama which frontline is. Finally something that works consistently. After trying probably 10-15 brands of flea and tick stuff for my Dogs this is the company I come back to. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Even though my dog will eat the Omega bites, I still have to crumble them up in his food (they are soft so it's very easy to do). He can be very picky so I am figuring they must taste pretty good and not smell bad or he wouldn't eat his food with it in there. So that's a big win!! My guy will be 12 in December so I feel like he needs this in his diet. I I take Omega 3 also (once I finally found some that weren't too huge to swallow) and I feel like it is helping me so I figure it's got to be good for him too. I will start off by saying that my senior dog, London, can be picky about her treats and she really enjoyed the Zesty Paws Senior Advanced Omega Bites. I haven't seen a huge transformation in her skin or coat, but I feel like a supplement like this takes at least 3 months to show results. I do like that it has omegas, collagen, and flaxseed. I wish it didn't have pea powder but that's better than lentils. All that said I also feel it's very expensive and I would have to see amazing results to pay $35 for a supplement considering I'm already paying out the nose for required medications. this product is as good as any other vitamin I have used for my dog. Biggest benefit is my dog will eat them. She enjoys them like a treat. I will buy this again if seen in store. I do recommendMel

First time trying this out for my dog. So Far he enjoys eating these Vetriscience Clear & Bright Chews. He always looks for them before he actually eats his food. I'm glad he isn't picky. I like that it says it's good for the eyes. So far I see a slight difference in his eyes. My dog tends to have a lot of eye goo but probably because he has seasonal allergies. Like this product because I know as dogs grow old their vision seems to slow down. So this is a great away to help their vision.BrendaV
