Nice product. So far (2 weeks) no quality problems with the sling. Could have additional padding under the belly, but is good. Hasnt been washed to date and didnt notice any washing instructions.roru-8134

I was so excited to receive the harness – it seemed like a huge upgrade from the old one I bought from Tractor Supply that my dog was using. Well. It took twice as long as expected to arrive which is ridiculous when I paid for shipping. The shipping fees were refunded, but I had purchased the item with the intent to use it by a specific date which didn’t happen since it didn’t arrive until MUCH later. When it finally did show up the package was ripped almost completely open and the packaging of the product was all messed up which is also ridiculous. Alright it’s here, looks like **** but it’s here. It’s a much brighter blue than I expected which I like. It took a little while to figure out how to adjust as the ends were so firmly tucked into the harness I thought I was going to break it. Finally got it on and adjusted and “Meh”. It’s not deep enough (front to back) in my opinion, and my dog is not an odd or unusual shape. I do like that it covers less surface area, she appears to stay cooler (but a double coated black dog in the humid Midwest is always hot). It does sag when wet (which is almost always as she swims regularly) BUT it dries and goes back to the original fit which is a pro I guess. I say I guess because I didn’t expect a harness I paid over $80 to sag at all when wet but ‍♀ It doesn’t show any wear yet which it shouldn’t for only having it 2 weeks. It does shift like crazy. Not as bad as the cheap tractor supply one, but again I expected ZERO shifting from the $80+ harness. Honestly I probably won’t buy again. I was super excited to find a harness with everything I wanted: reflectors (which the ones on this harness ****, seriously for $80 y’all couldn’t put reflective piping on all edges?!), a handle on the back, bright blue, goes over the head/ NOT a step through and had a back leash clip. But honestly I’m pretty disappointed. There is a lot of room for improvement in what I consider an expensive harness (more reflective piping, padding under the middle set of buckles, better fit, better choice of shipping carriers). I’m not going to get rid of it and it does fit better than the Tractor Supply but I don’t absolutely love it like I hoped.Seva P.

My girl discovered early on that she can back out of her harness in a heartbeat. She can't back out of the Flagline harness (yay!) and – more importantly – if needed, I can pull on the leash / harness without fear of hurting her. (There have been a couple times when we've encountered dogs who are too friendly — having the Flagline harness on my girl made it much easier to pull her back to a safe distance without fear of hurting her or having the harness pop off at a bad time.) The harness is easy to put on / take off. It's strong. The reflective trim helps make her more visible. The adjustable straps make it easy to size up during the winter time when she's got winter coat(s) to accommodate. Having clips for closure is so much nicer than harnesses with velcro closures. (Velcro closure doesn't last long – and trying to wash anything with velcro – oy veh!) The price was a little more than I thought I'd spend for a harness – but having a harness I can trust and that will last is worth every penny. 100% recommend!Karen G.

The harness is super adjustable and fits my pups barrel chest so well! We wanted the waist clip as the single rib clip always slipped off or got loose and it wasn’t enough security for us. We also really love the handles! The front loop works super well to mitigate some pulling (pups only 8 months old) and my favorite feature is the inner material that rests on his body, it’s not mesh or fabric that his short coat sticks into so his hair isn’t being rubbed off or sticking in the harness getting stuck in cracks and making it itchy or difficult to clean. This harness is also super easy to wash and I really love the hardy materials on this harness. Wish it came in orange but the grey works just as well on our pup! This harness just fits Róka so well and I’m so pleased with it!!!! It fits and contours to his whole body and moves with him when he’s moving around! The best investment I have made for my puppy, who is growing fast and extremely jumpy. It got to the stage where I found it incredibly difficult to walk her, but the Halti harness works a treat! The Halti double ended lead can be wrapped around you so you use your body weight rather than your hands/arms to stop the pulling. I can literally walk hands free! You can then take the lead off the front part of the harness and it becomes a 6 foot lead, which is great for recall training. If you take the whole double ended lead off, the harness has about a 1ft lead attached to it, which is easy to grab if you need to when you let your dog off the lead. It has turned our dog walks into a pleasure rather than a nightmare!awchan2801

First, the best parts: This harness works great! Rufus (catahoula leopard hound/mix) does not pull AT ALL anymore and he seemed to "get the idea" all on his own with little to know training . . . it is almost as if being led from the front j ust instantly changed his mentality. I have always been able to walk Rosie (American foxhound) like a puppy on a string and sometimes almost had to pull her (laziest foxhound anywhere) so it is also nice with her to not be pulling her by the neck . . . she plods happily along. It's easy to adjust, easy to put on, easy to take off, looks very nice, holds up well, does not chafe. Here is where there is room for improvement: as noted in some other reviews, the sizing is off, but what I noticed is a bit different . . . both dogs measure very close to the middle for the size I ordered (medium) but all of the straps had to be adjusted to the tightest it would go in order to fit and it still seems a bit loose around the FRONT. I tried turning it upside down as noted by the company in response to some of the reviews, but it seemed to fit almost the same. So you may want to order a size smaller or call the company before ordering to be sure that it is going to fit. The other thing I am not fond of is that the buckles seem to be right at the armpits and that bothers me probably more than it bothers the dogs. However, here is another upside! When my (adult) son accidentally put the harness on the dog incorrectly, we found that it can also be used with the D-ring on the back instead of the front (at least on these breeds) and it works beautifully, so if you want the leash to attach to the dog's back rather than to the front, it's sort of a "bonus" use of the harness. Rosie (the easy walker) seems to prefer this Other than the sizing issue (which is probably also the issue with where the buckle falls), I LOVE this harness and it has truly "turned my dog around . . . The chest adjustment is at its loosest, but the chest/belly straps are almost maxed out on tightness, so I couldn't size up to make it better fit my 50lb lab/chow mix. The chest strap also slips down with extreme pulling, which fortunately for my pup isn't super frequent, but it has tripped him once. I think the instructions say that the chest straps should be tightened if this happens, but they also say that the harness should be a T shape, and if I tighten the chest strap, it definitely pulls behind his front legs. I think this is a decent harness, it's just not great for broader chested pups.kelmel

I bought this 2 weeks ago. My standard poodle puppy (8 months old) would jerk so hard on his leash when he saw another dog on our walks that I would practically get pulled off my feet. With ice on the sidewalks, I was afraid to take him for a walk. I went to Petco to buy a prong collar out of desperation. An employee who helps with their dog training described how this harness would be a better solution. This harness has worked like a miracle! My dog walks calmly by my side. If he starts to pull, the leash puts a bit of pressure on his chest, instead on my arm. It also turns him towards me slightly instead, and I redirect him with the “heel” command.” I wish I had known about this collar sooner. If you have a strong dog who pulls on the leash, try this. First time I used it on my English Springer Spaniel, I love it. He ruptured his ACL and surgery isn't for a few weeks. This has definitely made helping him around much easier. My aging lab has arthritis and difficulty going up & down stairs. When clipped on my pup immediately knew the Rear Dog Lift was there to help assist. This product is super simple to put on & clip into place. It's also small enough to pack and store.AgaW

I've been looking for a lift like this for my dog, as her rear legs aren't what they used to be with her old age. Something to help me keep her up and or pull her back up should she fall. I'm not sure what I was expecting as I'd hope this would stay on her as photoed. It does not wear flat and neat, it bunches up behind her rear legs as she walks and theres no amount of adjusting to keep it open. Frustrating, and equivalent to using a towel, except the handles are nice, should she fall, I can easily pick her up. As for materials, the quality is top notch, it's soft interior is a plus, and the handles/clips feel strong. I've always been happy with the quality of Orvis, I just wish this didn't slide off my dog.Dani333

This harnass lasted exactly three minutes. I put it on my dog, adjusted it, and she chewed it for a second and it completely tore. The company acknowledges that it can not withstand even a quick nip from your dog. Ridiculously poor quality. Their answer is for you to spend another 12.99 for a warranty to get another harnass which will do the same thing. Awful product that is expensive. Dismissive and unethical customer service. There are many other good options for harnesses out there. Save your money and aggravation .Kerri R

I really like the product. The two connection points give me more control over my reactive dog. A few months after purchase I noticed some of the nylon was unraveling near one of the box stitches. I contacted the company and provided pictures and they replaced it right away. Great product and great service.

Just know that this isn’t a miracle product that will completely stop your dog from pulling. It’s not a replacement for training. YOU as the owner have to teach your dog proper leash manners. But if you want more control, or you have a reactive dog, I definitely recommend this.Rachel Cormier

This has been a major breakthrough with my crazy pulling dog! We have tried several other collars as well as a harness that had more of a collar and only attached to the leash on the back. As I previously stated I bought two of these harnesses in two different sizes. A small and a medium as I was not sure which would work. The small is a great fit for my 13 lb Shih Tzu. But this is summer and she is shaved down. I am going to use the medium size for winter to go over her sweaters and coats. She is also is not shaved down for colder weather so I tend to buy larger sizes for the colder seasons. Besides the price was great.Marlene D

This is the best harness I have ever had for my lil shih tzu/yorkie mix. The only thing is he does not like me having to put his legs thru it and does not like anything being put over his head other than that its awesome! Absolutely love it! Purchased 2 of these, one 'used', one new. They were both in excellent condition & I prefer the 'used' as it is manufactured better using industrial Velcro to attach the underdog piece to upper harness. The newer model uses clips & does not fit as well. Still an excellent product.pntdldy

Too big for my Doxie I used the chart and measured his chest and it showed he should be able to wear a medium, but it is too big. It's a great harness and well made, I will see if I can pass it on to someone else that can use it.lilacresfarm

My dog has a torn ACL. Shes 13yrs old and really needed the assistance. And this sling is really doing the job. I had bought a different one before this one that was just a thick band that went around her waist & had handles at the top but it just kind of slipped down even thougn it was her size when we were trying to help her get down the stairs. If you’ve ever tried to carry a German Shepherd for 800 yards, you’ll see why I really love the GingerLead! The padding makes it comfortable for her, the outside construction is durable, light nylon, the handles are adjustable and padded for my comfort, and the unit has an attached lead that hooks onto my dog’s harness. It is also possible to clip the leash to the front of the harness. A second lead can be connected to the hook on the back for a really strong puller. I like this harness better than the "Easy Walk" because it can be fitted better and quicker. Unlike the "Easy Walk" a dog can not slip out of it if they pull away from you. You also don't have to attach it to the regular collar as a back up if your dog slips out of it. I think it also fits better behind the front legs.Betty

This harness is working great for us. I got it for my dog with some *mild* mobility issues. I read all of the reviews prior to purchasing and RuffWear is very clear that this is not made for older dogs with mobility issues and I knew that going into it, therefore knew what to expect and for my dogs abilities, it is perfect for us. My dog is fully capable getting around, getting up from laying and walking without assistance. I simply needed a harness that had a small handle on the **** area to guide him up the stairs. He can get up the stairs on his own and mostly does not need my assistance with the **** handle, I merely hold the handle to lessen the chance of injury in case he slips on the stairs. So if he slips, I've got the handle and he doesn't fall to the ground and down the stairs. And for that, it works perfect. Putting it on is easy (like i said, he can stand just fine). It doesn't have easy snap in buckles due to the harness' original purpose, which I was aware of and I don't mind threading the straps each time. It takes less than an minute and the harness is worth it. I opted for this rather than a harness intended for mobility issues because my dog's needs are minimal and the ones from other brands are a bit much considering my dog doesn't need help walking or rising. I do wish it had a traditional hook for a leash. I had to get a carabiner to attach a leash to the harness. I realize it's intended use and it has spots to attach rope, but even if we were using it for it's intended use, I would imagine there are still moments where some people may use a leash?? Maybe not, anyhow the carabiner worked, just an extra step initially. As for sizing, I got Medium. My dog is a 62lb lab mix. His measurements were just at the cusp of med-large, but more toward medium so thats what I went with. It mostly fits well. There is one single strap that is a bit short and doesn't go any longer than I have it. It's the strap that goes from the underside chest pad to the neck straps. I can make the neck straps longer but it doesnt really make a difference. If that one strap was just a bit longer I think it would be perfect. I think my dog is comfortable with harness for the time he wears it (two walks a day) but if I were to leave it on him all day, it would be tight around that area. The rest of the harness fits perfect so i would imagine the large would be been a bit too big for him. Considering I take it off between walks, that minor sizing issue isn't a deal breaker for us. If he wore the harness for hours at a time (or for it's intended use) then I think it would pose a comfort issue. So just consider that if your dog is also on the cusp of sizing.Taylor C.

Doesn’t hold up well to daily use; the metal strap adjusters cut into the straps with daily wear and I’ve already noticed tears in the straps where the adjusters are. This harness has been the first I’ve found that enables me to adjust it to fit my dog’s narrow front chest however it does not appear to hold up well to daily use. I would not purchase again since it appears the straps will tear and fall apart in a couple months.ShannonC

I really like that this has a front and back clip so we don't have to change out harnesses for walking and car rides. And there's a lot of room for adjusting the size, including the chest. Our golden has a narrow chest/shoulders and other no-pull harnesses would have a pretty big gap that would hang down. The only thing I'd say to watch out for is make sure the adjustable hooks on the chest piece are locked in place after sizing. One did slip out of place (while my dog was rolling around) but, the harness didn't like fall off or anything. And it hasn't happened since, so I think it was more owner error than anything else. Our golden seems to like it! It's quick to put on so she can get outside fast and seems to be comfortable for her.Bekah

Webbing is too large for shorter dogs (standard dachshunds) and causes legs to swing backward and forward. Probably works well for taller dogs.Julia

This item is Extremely difficult to get on the dog. It would have been better if it had buckles so the straps could be opened to go around the dog's legs. If the dog is having trouble standing and is laying down, you need to slip each leg through a loop and try to slide it up to his hips. Difficult to do when the dog weighs 140 pounds.k9kodak

Not suitable for dogs over 90 lbs. Will not fit across the rear hips of the animal and cannot be adjusted to accommodate for size. Lost $20.00 on a useless piece of trash. Had to go back to using a towel. Not happy.Brian

I really really wanted to like this harness. My lab/pit doesn’t so much “pull” as she is just a speed walker. I’ve tried just about everything to curb this insistent need to be ahead of me. I’ve tried various collars, harnesses, head leads, and even took her to training classes. That and because my dog had an odd barrel shaped chest trying to get a good measurement for her often doesn’t go too well, and as much as I wanted in like this harness all it ended up doing was leaving bad sores under her armpits, which isn’t so much the fault of the product as much as it’s the fault of my dog who insists on being ahead of me no matter how fast I walk (and I tend to walk at the pace of a light jog!) Alas I’ve just put her back in her old harness, but perhaps when she’s older and has hopefully calmed down, I can then put her in something like this. Again, this is a great product I’m sure, just not for me.Megan G.

Our five-month-old golden retriever puppy was starting to get really strong, and her oppositional pulling (or dragging) when using just a collar or typical chest harness was making walks less than fun for everyone. The dog trainer recommended a shoulder harness like this, and when paired with a runner's leash (and positive reinforcement), it makes for a much more relaxed and enjoyable walk. It's super-easy to slip on and off–i.e., less time for our puppy to grab it in her mouth and wrestle with it–and the bright-orange color adds a pop of safety for trail hikes. The quality seems very high, too. Our puppy is five months and about 35 lbs.; we ordered a medium and it fits her (a little loosely) at its smallest. But it'll expand and grow with her to adulthood, which is great.Sarah C.

We have two of these, one small and one extra small because neither will fit a French Bulldog properly (Purchased the first one based on her measurements and the chart). We use the extra small since it is the best fit. We have noticed chafing under our dog's front legs where the halter rubs her, she now has no hair there on either side. The purpose of the front leash ring is to discourage pulling but what we have found is that the harness pulls to one side, twists around the dog, and pulls up under the leg opposite of the leash side. The harness loosens as the dog pulls, so you must keep adjusting it or it will be too loose. Our dog is white. On her back where the ring is she now has a black mark because the ring is constantly rubbing there.Debbie D.
