My dog had an uncoordinated walk, she would trip and lose her balance at times. Her rear limbs were her weakest. Bought this yesterday for my 6 year old maltipoo because he has back pain from time to time due to ivdd. Vet wasn’t in and the hospital was booked. Emergency room costs a fortune. So with no prescription, I decided to give this a try. My lil fur baby was in so much pain, he was trembling and wouldn’t eat (understandably so). I gave him a 1/2 one in the car and about an hour later gave him another half cause he still seemed to be in pain…next thing i knew he was eating like crazy lol!!!! He stopped trembling, so I believe that this worked accordingly…so far so good. Only thing, I think it makes him kind of drowsy. That’s good though because he needs to rest that back for a few weeks. Our dog seems to like the way it feels in his eyes. He is totally blind but he doesn't try to rub it out, as with other drops that veterinarians have prescribed in the past. In fact at morning and night both, he seems to sense when it is time for us to put in his drops. He starts barking at us when it's time and bumps his way into the kitchen, where we usually apply them. If he doesn't need to go outside to pee or whatever, then he simply makes his way peacefully back to his pallet. We put this product in about five minutes after we put in an antibiotic drop. My Sunshine has been suffering for years with itchiness and toes swollening and getting infected to the point of puss coming out. I have 6 small breed rescued dogs that are all seniors. I've been using this for all, except one dog for many years. One of my dogs has a very sensitive stomach and can't use this supplement (I believe it's a beef and/or liver sensitivity), but the other dogs have no problem at all. They like the taste and most importantly it really helps! All of my dogs being seniors, 9yrs up to 18yrs (yep, 18 yrs old) have joint issues from age and this really seems to help with joint pain and even joint popping/cracking. They seem to be able to play more on this supplement too! If I ever run out, I noticed their joints popping more often and after only a couple days of using this product I notice a big difference. I haven't used this for larger breeds or younger adult dogs, but I imagine it would be great for them too, especially with all the joint issues that come with larger breeds. FYI, ALL the supplement sizes are the same product but with different sized scoops and dosage instructions based on the scoop size. I believe all the jars except the smallest size come with a larger scoop (supposedly 1oz, but seems to be more IMO) and the dosage instructions are based on the included scoop. So, if you're like me and buy a large sized jar for multiple smaller dogs, make sure to check the dosage instructions on the small size jar accurate instructions. Or maybe just contact the company for more accurate dosage instructions. I have decided to try and keep my small dog healthy for as long as possible. So with preventative measures in mind I got the Nutramax Cosequin Maximum Strength with MSM Plus Omega-3's Mini Joint Health Supplement for Small Dogs, 45 Soft Chews to try and keep her joints in good shape. The supplements are toted to keep her joints in good condition as she grows older. We have stairs in our house so the likelihood that she will develop joint issues over time is probably more, than if we did not have stairs. My dog is a small Maltese Shih Tzu mix and I don’t think they are prone to have issues with their joints, but as they say, a little prevention goes a long way. This relatively small expense versus the cost of veterinary medical doctors is worth the cost. No doubt. We received our bag of Cosequin Minis, and are thrilled. We have two dogs, both labs but different mix. Our older Dog Max tore his ACL equivalent about a year ago. The surgery is several thousand dollars with a 3-6 month stay in a vet hospital. So we opted for other options, and that was taking supplements and pain medications for a time, and now he just takes the supplements. This is one of them, and that is so he has two flavors. He‘s finicky. But this made a huge difference to him and for us to watch him. He is still a little slow to get up but he gets up and down, and now will jump the three steps to the top when he is in a hurry to get out, and sometimes to get in. His initial dosage was higher to get him going, and then we backed off as instructed. But these to work wonders, and can’t imagine how horrible he would feel without them. He is 8 years old, and really does like them, and the help it provides him. When he went for his exam etc last month, she was amazed at how well he was doing, and getting around. Ill warn you they stink, you can smell the fish. But I plug my nose and get them for them everyday. That’s the first they get when they come in from outside in the morning. The younger lab, is just hitting six months old in 2 weeks. He is full of it……morning to night. I told the Vet about him getting his nose bent out of shape when Max gets his “treat”, and she said he can have them too. He just takes the smaller ones though, or I break the regular ones in half. The Cosequin is good for their joints and their coat. Labs have a tendency to have bad hips it seems, and we are hoping since Rocky likes them, and takes them, maybe he wont have those issues when he gets bigger/older. This is a great product and really affordable through Wal-mart. We will always use them with the dogs, they are family too. We so appreciate the product and its ability to help them this much. Our 10# Peke was diagnosed with congenital arthritis of her right 'elbow' [as her DVM terms it] a few years ago and since then, has been on a monthly regimen of Adaquan injections. I turned to this product for my cat after everything else failed. She has a chronic sinus infection that did not respond to multiple rounds of two different antibiotics. She stopped eating and was losing weight. I put drops of this on her food twice a day and she seems to tolerate it. I am so happy a family friend recommended these supplements! My 3 year old pitbull started limping out of nowhere while my boyfriend and I were out of the country for a while. As soon as I found out something was wrong, I immediately started getting concerned because he’s so young to have any joint problems. Dasuquin is an updated product from Nutramax. We gave Nutramax Cosequin to old German Shepherd and Australian cattle dogs that have since passed on because it gave them relief from joint pain that was obvious in the improvement in their ability to get up and lie down and run again. I'm giving maintenance doses of Dasuquin to two large dogs we have now that are age 4 and 5yr to extend the life of their joints. The ingredients are similar to human nutritional supplements for older people: Glucosamine, chondroitin, brewers yeast, dextrose, green tea extract, gum resin, lecithin, cellulose, mixed tocopherols, flavoring and soy protein. avocado/soybean unsaponifiables (ASU) ….. We haven't used Dasuquin long enough for a long term review so my rating is based on previous experience with Nutramax products. The tablets are 3/4 inch in diameter. My dogs won't eat them as they are so I break them into fourths with my fingers and drop them into their food. The tablets are easy to break. If your dog is getting older I recommend this product along with high quality dog food and fresh water.William

I was told my dog had a luxating patella. We would hear his knee popping in and out all the time. Baxter has been on Dasuquin with MSM for many years, and so far we have never had to consider surgery. Baxter gets one full tablet every morning with his morning meal. I think he thinks its a special treat, so he gobbles it right up. I bought this as the reviews were mostly positive. I have only been giving it to my two dogs for about 3 weeks, one is a 8 year old lab mix and the other is a 6 year old English Mastif. I will need to give it more time before I definitively say it is working. Here is what I can say: 1) the dogs are eating it, so it passes the taste test; 2) the have been no adverse reactions; 3) my wife observed some improvement on the labs mobility. I have been using Dasuquin MSM in the hard pill form for over a year now for my almost 15 year old, 88 pound Airedale – Standard Poodle mix. I have been very impressed with the improved mobility my dog has/is experienced/ing. I decided to try the soft chew, but was a bit nervous given another reviewers comment that they were too large and his dog would not touch them. I called and spoke to 1-800-PETMEDS and the person I talked to told me that I could return the product for a full refund if my dog doesn't like them. So I decided to try. He loves them! And eats them as if they are treats. No having to disguise them in cheese or peanut butter. Yay! For what ever it is worth, I've tried with and without MSM and my dog has a better outcome *with MSM*. My girl is almost 14, and while she's definitely slowed down, arthritis is her only health issue. Cosaquin was recommended to me, but I went with this stronger version and it's made such a difference in her movement! I think I'd have to pull her in a wagon without it, honestly. I have been giving Nutramax Dauquin Soft Chews for Small Dogs to my 11 year old Maltese dog, Molly, for over 2 years. It has absolutely changed her life. Before my vet prescribed Dasuquin Soft Chews for my dog she was literally crippled with arthritis in her hind legs. She could hardly walk and even touching her hind legs caused her pain. We had to carry her outside in a basket to go potty and then carry her back indoors. Dasuquin worked like a miracle for Molly. It only took a couple days of taking Dasuquin before she was able to go down our front steps and back up again on her own and go potty without being carried outside. Keep this on hand for trimming our guinea pig's nails. His front nails are clear/white, so it's pretty easy to see the quick, but his back nails are dark and once we (my GF, I hold him) got his quick. Luckily we had this stuff on hand, and it stopped bleeding basically as soon as we dipped his nail in it. My GF is going to school to be a vet tech, and she prefers the powder form, so that's what I bought. Also went with the smallest container, because she's pretty good at avoiding the quick on animalsC.
