Our dog Buddy is over 100 pounds and his rear legs have betrayed him. We were using a towel to help him up but its not as easy as it sounds. The handle on the carelift allows for an easier lift and allows me to stabilize his wobbling while walking. Buddy likes it as wellfmcnulty

This item works great once you get it on and sized to the dog. I am having a little difficulty with getting the harness on myself because I am having to re-size the harness every time and wish it was a little easier to adjust the straps. This thing really bailed me out and saved my back while my chocolate lab was recovering from a muscle tear. It gave just the right amount of support she needed for me to be able to assist her in getting around and particularly getting up stairs. It is also easy on and off so it's very convenient to use. My ONLY negative is that the description said dogs up to 90 pounds. My lab is a little hefty at 78 pounds and it BARELY fit around her. Love the product but the dog I purchased it for is too big to fit in it. I will save it in case my middle dog ever needs it. Please let me know if you ever find something that will fit bigger dogs, but made out of the exact same stuff so it is light weight and easy to pack up without taking up much space.tank

We have a labrador that's around 60lbs. LIfting him is difficult and he's skidish about being picked up on top of it. The harness is great for helping him up in the car. It seems very comfortable as he happily wore it around the house acting like he didn't even have it on. I'm actually looking forward to using it for the next trip to the vet because the handles seem like they would be great for holding him on the table as well. With him being a male dog I did appreciate that it had a built in shield for comfort to protect him while lifting. The harness was super easy to put on and fairly easy to adjust to the correct size as well. I'd highly recommend this for anyone with a dog that needs assistance being lifted or to even have this harness on hand just incase you need it.BusyMom

My border collie is 10 years old and suffers from hip issues; primarily when going up steps. In the past I've tried to help him by lifting his rear but he feels fearful when I do this. Now that I'm using the support harness, he loves my help! There's something about the harness that helps my dog to feel safely supported. When I first opened the box and pulled the harness out, it looked like a mess but the paper included detailed instructions for putting it on. I highly recommend this harness!Atina

I highly recommend this harness. I have an older 52 pound Belgian Shepard w/arthritis in her rear knee and spine. This harness is easy to put on, in my opinion, and she doesn't seem to mind the straps around her rear legs at all. I only use this for walks and when her rear legs have difficulty and she falls back I can easily grab the rear handle and hold her up, pull her up etc. This is extremely helpful going up stairs too. Mostly this is a well-made product except there is a snap (like a garter belt) on the leg straps that keeps coming off making the entire harness useless. This had the potential to be a good product except for leg straps coming off.emf100

Just got this rear end harness for me 13 year old Golden.. He has an abdominal mass so other lifters that lift primarily in that area will not work. as long as the hip straps on this are not loose, it lifts from the hips.. He has been wearing it around the house and to go outside in case he falls in the back as his hind end is failing..FosterBeanDog

The harness was way to big and did not fit well for my little dog. I was very disappointed as it was a small. I’m finding that there are no really good harnesses for little dogs like Yorkies. Great fitting harness and the adjustable neck section is great . I've had other harnesses in the past and whilst they fit my English Staffordshire around the body I found they got to a point where they were difficult to get on and off over his big lump of a head . Overall a great product and I'll definitely look at getting the bigger one once he outgrows this one .Scott M

I have a 70lb Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless). I purchased both the Hurtta Cooling Coat and the Swamp Cooler Dog Vest by Ruffwear. Both are made from similar material and work the same way. The Hurtta coat has much more coverage, has extended hind end flaps and front chest flaps, resembles a horse jacket. Whereas the Ruffwear is more of a fitted vest. I would have given the Hurtta Cooling Coat 5 stars however, the stitching that secured the chest strap isn't reinforced and tore out of the material the first time used. I then outfitted the dog in the Ruffwear Swamp Vest, which worked beautifully. Since my dog is hairless it was easy to feel how well the vest worked. Placing my hand on exposed skin, then touching skin under the vest, there was a noticeable difference in temperature however his skin was dry – just cooler. I have stitched the Hurtta strap back on and feel it will be equally as good if not better than the Ruffwear due to it's increased surface area.Laura

I bought this harness about a month or so ago for my Plotthound Lab Mix! This harness is a very great quality harness and my dog is comfortable and happy in it! He is a working dog so this harness is great for when we are on the move or running! The neck area has a bit of stretch to it so if we need to make a sudden stop and it pulls on him he wont be choked! It has a pretty good wide open space for working dog patches or stickers! Our pittie is about 30 pounds and he is not even done growing. He is full of energy and excitement when we go for walks, so it’s extremely imperative for me to have a harness that I can rely on for sturdiness to hold him steady. What I love about this harness is, just that! I had an incident before with a dog jacket that had a built-in harness – forget about it! He saw another pittie who was as playful, slipped right through it and started running. Imagine my fear. I have been using the EasySport Medium Harness for about a month now. I live by the Dunes on Lake Michigan and take our puppy there several times a week. She is about forty five pounds and has quite a bit of energy. When first trying this on her I noticed I was able to loosen the straps. It was very easy and took seconds to loosen. The fit was perfect and she seemed very comfortable. I noticed the straps were thicker and when she pulled, I wasn’t worried the straps would break. While walking through the dunes, some of the pathways can be very narrow. I am training her to stay at my side while other hikers walk by. Having that strap at the top has made it even easier to train her to stay. Now all I have to do is tap the top and she knows to sit. The convenience of the strap and the padding added for comfort are two huge added bonuses for us. Our puppy is very active and while walking her in public I need to trust that I have the best products. I need to be able to rely on our leashes and harnesses so we can enjoy our walks with no worries. This harness has been fantastic. When she pulls too much or gets excited and runs, I know that the harness won’t break. I do believe I will need to size up soon. I ordered a medium and I think it fits very well. I am sure after a few more months of growing though that I will need the large. I will be purchasing the next size up when she’s ready. If this harness can withstand my puppies energy, it is tough enough for any dog!JoeFav

I purchased this for my 6 month old, 26lb rescue pup a few weeks ago to replace a different brand she outgrew. She loved her new harness and I admit that it appeared to be very comfortable. However, she pulled while we were walking yesterday and the straps snapped. She ran into the street, but thankfully no vehicles were nearby. The straps are flimsy and will not stand up to a quick pull. My pup is very petite, and I still can't believe how easily the straps ripped. I can't recommend this at all. I've just purchased a new secure, double stitched reinforced harness that also has metal rings instead of the plastic on the Gooby.Katie Ge

We originally had a size small when Missie was heavier. Now that she’s a proper weight we needed the XS because she could slip out of the small. We wanted to stay with this one and couldn’t find anything we liked better, we didn’t want any straps rubbing on her skin. The XS is perfect! I've had this harness for maybe 4 months now and at first I loved it, besides the plastic loops…they make me nervous that they're going to snap because my dog is a puller. On our normal walks this harness has been fine because my dog does pull so she is almost always in front of me. Today we went to the park and she wrapped the leash around a pole and was able to very easily pull her way out of it. Thankfully there were no other dogs around and I was able to catch her within a few minutes but my dog is dog reactive so this would have been an absolute disaster if there were other dogs around. First, the best parts: This harness works great! Rufus (catahoula leopard hound/mix) does not pull AT ALL anymore and he seemed to "get the idea" all on his own with little to know training . . . it is almost as if being led from the front j ust instantly changed his mentality. I have always been able to walk Rosie (American foxhound) like a puppy on a string and sometimes almost had to pull her (laziest foxhound anywhere) so it is also nice with her to not be pulling her by the neck . . . she plods happily along. It's easy to adjust, easy to put on, easy to take off, looks very nice, holds up well, does not chafe. Here is where there is room for improvement: as noted in some other reviews, the sizing is off, but what I noticed is a bit different . . . both dogs measure very close to the middle for the size I ordered (medium) but all of the straps had to be adjusted to the tightest it would go in order to fit and it still seems a bit loose around the FRONT. I tried turning it upside down as noted by the company in response to some of the reviews, but it seemed to fit almost the same. So you may want to order a size smaller or call the company before ordering to be sure that it is going to fit. The other thing I am not fond of is that the buckles seem to be right at the armpits and that bothers me probably more than it bothers the dogs. However, here is another upside! When my (adult) son accidentally put the harness on the dog incorrectly, we found that it can also be used with the D-ring on the back instead of the front (at least on these breeds) and it works beautifully, so if you want the leash to attach to the dog's back rather than to the front, it's sort of a "bonus" use of the harness. Rosie (the easy walker) seems to prefer this Other than the sizing issue (which is probably also the issue with where the buckle falls), I LOVE this harness and it has truly "turned my dog around . . . The chest adjustment is at its loosest, but the chest/belly straps are almost maxed out on tightness, so I couldn't size up to make it better fit my 50lb lab/chow mix. The chest strap also slips down with extreme pulling, which fortunately for my pup isn't super frequent, but it has tripped him once. I think the instructions say that the chest straps should be tightened if this happens, but they also say that the harness should be a T shape, and if I tighten the chest strap, it definitely pulls behind his front legs. I think this is a decent harness, it's just not great for broader chested pups.kelmel

I have purchased several harnesses for my Mal-Shih in her 2 1/2 years. My all time favorite is the Puppia brand and this specific mesh version. The neon pink is SO pretty and Charlee definitely stands out as we take our walks. I have this harness in the neon pink and in bright yellow (not neon). Knowing that I love this particular Puppia harness, I also ordered the sky blue color for her. This brand and the mesh version is second to none! Charlee is 11 lbs and wears size Medium.Jannice P

This is a great harness and very easy to use, comfy and secure. However, the X Large is now too small for my 2 year old mini groodle who is approx. 13 kgs. I wish they made a bigger size as he still needs to wear a harness.Verity

I bought this in a medium a week ago and I've used it around 2-3 times already. I have a maltipoo and she has a tendency to pull and try to go faster/farther and it would cause her to choke in her previous harness. However, not a single time since I've started using this has she choked/gagged. The sizing is a bit off for her though, since a small is too tight but a medium is too loose (but the medium isn't loose enough for it to be unsafe/falling). This harness is true to its name and is so helpful for dogs that try pulling and end up choking. It's also super softer than her old one. I also bought a small for my yorkie and I think she loves it! Normally she hates harnesses but this one she doesn't seem to mind! I feel like it makes her more comfortable when she's walking as her previous ones weren't the most softest like this. It is a bit pricey for me, but I was able to get it on sale! Choke-free, soft and comfortable!mjp21

I just purchased this harness yesterday in a size Medium for my 16 lbs Beagle mix. It ripped completely in half after only having her wear it for 2 hours. It fit perfectly which is why I gave it 2 stars, but it should have lasted for more than 2 hours. Definitely not worth my money.Zoie Mom

This is my third Gooby harness. Small size worked well when she was a puppy. She outgrew the Small we got her a medium and there was a small sign of tearing on this harness when we upgraded her to large. We got her the large pink and the fabric tore in half. The black fabric on the edge was the only thing keeping it together. Our dog weighs 18lbs but she’s built like a tank. If you have a dog that pulls I wouldn’t recommend this harness. If your dog is well behaved and doesn’t pull you should be good to go.Goobys with tears

I have a Mini Australian Shepherd puppy, and this harness is so good!! The way the leash attachment “floats” along the dorsal strap makes it work really well no matter where he is in relation to me (front/back/side), and it had really helped him learn not to pull, because unlike a collar it’s not actually unsafe for him to test his limits (so I dont have to try and keep him from doing it, just address when it happens). Purchased and selected size last year based on Kurgo size chart recommendation. Harness was way to large, at the smallest setting on our 56# Aussie. Also hooks/ slides on back of harness twist and turn, don't stay in place.. The adjustment slides don't stay in place in the front and the harness , after one pull is huge again. Quality materials but poor execution of design. Very expensive for what you get. And CS rep hanging up when I called spoke volumes. mes.Janesdog

Seems like good construction. I liked the pads on top to prevent pinching, but overall, it is still the same standard harness you can get everywhere. The look of the harness is great however the material cannot stand up to chewing which is not covered under warranty. I bought one yesterday and this morning I left to get breakfast and when I got back 20 minutes later he had chewed through one of the straps and had taken a chuck out of the nylon canvas chest piece. Rugged ,tough , durable harness . Works like it should . It takes a little time to get a proper adjustment , unless your dog is growing it's a one time thing . As I previously stated I bought two of these harnesses in two different sizes. A small and a medium as I was not sure which would work. The small is a great fit for my 13 lb Shih Tzu. But this is summer and she is shaved down. I am going to use the medium size for winter to go over her sweaters and coats. She is also is not shaved down for colder weather so I tend to buy larger sizes for the colder seasons. Besides the price was great.Marlene D
