I purchased the 36k DIY unit as a kit off eBay. They included a disconnect, surge suppressor, wall mount bracket for the compressor and some other things. All went well with delivery. Upon beginning installation on my red brick garage, I drilled and anchored the compressor mount to the brick wall and set the unit on it. All seemed OK until I discovered that the rear clearance was only 4.5 inches between the unit and the wall. The specs call for 12 inches. I called the seller who referred me to Mr. Cool. I called several times only to receive a recording telling me what their business hours were. I was calling during business hours, but no luck. I did a little research and found another vendor selling the same mount I received, but they also has a larger one for the 24k and 36k units. This one would provide more weight capacity and also give the required clearance. I called the seller back and they said that it really should be set on a ground pad….ok, then why did you sell me a wall mount?? I referred them to the other vendor website so they could see the heavier mount. My seller did make quick work of ordering me the heavier mount (free of charge). Problem was I am now half way through the install and can’t wait several days for the mount. I used a one inch thick fiberglass panel I had to create a ground pad (even though I really didn’t want it on the ground), but the job is done. I guess when the new mount arrives I will make a killer shelf with it. I coiled up all the extra lines inside a cheap deck box from Home Depot after make entrance and exit holes in the back of the box. The AC unit works GREAT!!!! Laser thermometer pointed directly at the coils at a distance of about 12 inches and I can get readings of 19 degrees!!!Copper799

I spend a lot of time in my garage and was heating it with a pellet stove and kerosene heaters and found that to be time consuming and expensive. I don't usually keep it heated when I am not using it so to heat the garage it takes time to get the pellet stove running and for the garage to heat up. So I bought the Mrcool 36000 diy mini split. I am a Electo- Mechanical Technician so the install was simple for me but this unit is heavy so I suggest help and to consult an electrician on your local codes. The install took about two and a half hours with help not encluding the electrical which I had done on the previous day and it could not be any simpler. The hardest part is hanging the airhandler thats where you need help pulling the tubing through plus i installed the condenser on a side mount bracket and needed help lifting it on. After the install I turned it on and could not believe how quite and hot the air was. I also tested the cooling and now will have the coolest garage in town. The ability to control this unit using the app on my android phone from anywhere is great. I can turn the unit on before I got into the garage and have it heated or cold and ready to go. I suggest this unit to anyone who needs to heat a garage or larger area. The only thing that could be improved on is that this unit requires a 35 amp circuit feeding it and the electrical terminals in the outside unit are to small for 8 awg wire so most do it yourselfers are not going to have the equipment to crimp on the one hole connectors required to make the connection so an electrician might be required to do the connection.Wryzhunter

We have have this Mini AC unit stationed in a small server room with some servers and other IT equipment. We are here in Florida and one of the walls in the room gets direct sunlight throughout the day. The walls are concrete and there isn't enough airflow in that room so we opted for your SRCOOL12K unit. This is the 1st time I have used one of these.We have been able to keep this room about 72 degrees just fine. I really like that you have the option of running a drain hose out from the unit or using its included kit to run the exhaust duct up into one of the ceiling tiles to port the excess water through the exhaust instead. We literally didn't have to cut any hole in the wall to run a drainage. This I like a lot and also the fact that I had it all unboxed and running in like 20min. Good deal! ThanxTony

I'm not typically in the habit of writing reviews, but as I've now gone through two of these units in under 3 years I felt compelled to share the experience. Purchased the first unit in 2014 through Provantage. Good price, great unit, worked wonderfully to keep our small server room cool (room is less than 50 s.f.). About 15 months later the compressor failed. Provantage says "sorry", contact manufacturer. Tripp Lite says "sorry, we don't fix them. Find a local HVAC repairman." Well I obtained a full refund through my business Visa card company, which extends warranties up to another full year. Thinking I must have just struck a bad unit, and having the refund, I purchased the same unit again from Provantage in July 2016. Well yesterday this one failed same as the first. Out of warranty of course. No recourse with vendor or manufacturer. The kicker is that we've not overworked the unit, it's a small room, the hose is properly vented out of the room, the temp is set to 78 so it's not running 24/7… yet it doesn't last event 18 months. It may be too early to write this review, because its important to see how durable and how long this nice unit lasts. Its very easy to set up, it has a small footprint for a 1 ton unit, and it really does blow out powerful, cold air. So, thus far, i love it. It is supposed to be able to run 24×7 inside computer server rooms all day and night. I dont run it at night at all for my purposes, as im using it to just cool a peice of equipment only during the day, as we shut the equipment off all night. So, im expecting for this unit to last a long time, and it should be well built. I love that it doesnt need a water tray to be emptied, or drainage system to get rid of the condensation and evaporation. It is a self contained unit. Thats great. Its a quality looking machine, so i feel comfortable putting it anywhere. Ive read almost all the reviews on this portable AC, from different sites, and it mainly got good reviews. However, the one major complaint was that when it was run 24×7, 365 days per year, it dies after about 10 months. AC compressors and units arent designed to run all day and night. So, i hope it last a long time, and is built strong enough to last several years. In the small amount of negative reviews that i read, the company was great to deal with, and if it died within the one year warranty, they had no problem sending the customer a brand new unit. I have many other portable ac units that i use for several of my businesses that run hot equipment all day. And, in the first month, this AC seems to be the most powerful cold air portable AC that i have, compared to my other units. I have some other 1 ton, 3/4 ton, and 1/2 ton units, and the blower seems to be more powerful than my others, and the digital buttons are very easy to use. So far after a month of rigorous use, it seems to be a well built, great unit.Neil

First time buying an air conditioner. I have a 400 sq ft apartment. This unit advertises for a 350 sq ft room with 8,000 BTU. I've only used this unit for about 24 hours so far. Pros: it certainly keeps my room cold. I like the remote control and that it has multiple functions, 3 speeds for the air, sleep or eco and a bunch of other things. Also, the price of the unit was a high selling point for me being on a budget. It has a sleep move so the unit will turn on when it detects the temperature going up and shut off when it's at the correct temperature. In addition, the unit is small in comparison to other window ac units and does come with the mesh stuff that fills the window where the unit does not. Cons: It's. Very. Loud. I work from homeJamieG

This AC looks fantastic compared to the one that came with the apartment I'm renting. Really good size that made it easy for me to carry up. Installation was ok but I wasn't able to snap the side panels into the slides properly so after installation, they came apart which was annoying. Another thing was, when I read the product description, I was under the impression I was getting a remote that has the temperature on the black screen and sensor. Instead, I was set the "basic" model remote that has a black panel on the front which does absolutely nothing so it makes it purposeless. The remote itself looks old and ugly as-is so not having that extra feature and having to pay extra for a different model unit just to use the feature made me unhappy. The little LED lights on the unit are tiny and difficult to see, so even if you're using the remote, you're doing a lot of guess work. That could've been solved had the remote had the sensor/screen feature. The high fan setting was so loud, it's impossible to hear anything else in the room. Lastly, while the AC has been able to cool my room moderately that's about 12x14ft room, there's no way that it would cool the 350 sq ft at any setting as it claims on the package. It's an inexpensive, small-sized unit but it's underpowered based on my usage. I had it set to 66ºF during a 90ºF NYC day and half my room was still hot. Everyone else I know who have different ACs were able to get away with 73ºF with theirs on the same day but I couldn't. If I couldve exchanged for a different AC, I wouldve but I threw the box out already.Janet

Bought this for our 7 month old Pyrador puppy, who has already outgrown one house. It was easy to put together, and the sturdist dog house we've ever seen. Plus being insulated is perfect for a cold Indiana winter. She's huge and still growing and loves it. The first night she slept in front of it despite dog treats inside. Second night was cooler, she decided to check it out so the head and front paws went thru the swinging door first, and after she had stood that way for about 5 minutes, walked all the way in, and has loved it ever since. From the size if it unless she grows as much as Clifford the big red dog, she'll get to enjoy for a lifetime.PJ

We got this house for a new Boxador puppy so that it can spend most of its time outside. We found it to be a good product. It was easy to put together and does stay much warmer than the outside air. In rainy weather, it stays dry. It is a very large house which would work for a lab or other large dog. No problems with the dog using the door. Only suggestion: add nuts and bolts for the 6 screws. Screwing metal into plastic is not a real good plan. I'm assuming the company will have replacement parts (door, window, etc…) available for my investment!Y Robinson

I picked up multiple units as a replacement for 20-year-old window units, and the difference is night and day. Praise-wise, it's aesthetically pleasing. It's surprisingly quiet, no louder than the fridge. It came with a dust cover, which is just classy on Whynter's part. Assembly was a snap…literally. With the experience of doing it twice now, I'm confident that I could have another unit assembled in less than 5 minutes, and installed in about the same, there's really nothing to it. Lugging the unit up and down stairs…and chucking it over a very high tub surround to drain…were easier than I was expecting for a 65lb [30kg] unit, the weight balance / center of gravity placement is thoughtfully done. Feature-wise, my two wishes would be for the remote control unit to show measured temperature in addition to target temperature, and for a mode that switches between Cooling and Dehumidifying as is warranted by temperature, as here in the US Northeast it doesn't stop being swampy just because the room is a tolerable temperature. Putting a thermometer in the room with the unit, and switching it manually between cooling/dehumidifying isn't a big deal, it'd just be a minor Quality of Life thing to not have to manage those things manually. Complaint-wise, I'm not a fan of the window kit. It's too thick to slot into the track of my windows so isn't super secure, the screws that clamp the sliding adjustment piece are super easy to strip, and the extension bit being shorter than the main bit meant some pretty big air gaps. It wasn't anything a couple wood screws and some well-placed painter's tape couldn't fix, but for the price of the unit I was hoping it'd seal at least as well as the cheap window unit it replaced. One thing about the manual that isn't clear is "Ambient Temperature", which governs both the Cooling Mode and the Automatic Mode. It never specifies whether that's for the room itself, or measuring the air coming in through the intake port…somewhat important, as Cooling Mode will stop running the compressor within 5* of ambient to reduce wear/tear, and Automatic Mode gives the owner no control over target temperature [instead basing it on Ambient]. All in all, it's been 24 hours and I'm pleased. Depending on what it does to my energy costs, if I can't sort out the 'cool air to the other side of the house' issue with fans, I would happily consider a third unit to make sure the cooling is distributed more evenly. The box says the 11k model is only good for 350 sqft, but I have a pair of them working 1300sqft of house in 90-degree weather and they're handling it like a couple of champs.TheAmishStig

I took a chance on this unit, based off of the reviews…I regret it. I had issues almost right away, after getting it installed and using it a handful of times. It would shut itself off completely at random, and when I reached out to customer service (Best Buy said that since it was within the year warranty, I had to go through the manufacturer). I got the basic troubleshooting guide (is it plugged in, does the wall outlet work, etc.), as well as being told that the unit shuts off once it gets within 5° of the set temperature, and will turn back on after 15 minutes…it didn’t, I would have to turn it back on manually. Then, I started having issues with it sounding like the fan was hitting or rubbing. I again reached out to the manufacturer and received more troubleshooting guides, as well as being told that I needed to open the back of the unit myself, and make sure that there wasn’t any damage. They told me they would have to send a service tech out, and I asked them if we could have someone out ASAP, as the weather is starting to get hot. Nothing has been scheduled, and no reply in the last few days, other than asking me to provide my order invoice for the 3rd time. I ended up taking the unit back to Best Buy tonight and getting a new, cheaper unit, at the cost of $144 out of my own pocket because of Whynter’s abysmal customer support and losing my Geek Squad warranty on it. Unit does cool but under Florida humidity will absolutely require some sort of water management. It can leak out about 2-3 gallons of water daily, I’m currently using a plastic bin to capture the water that leaks out of the machine. No idea where it’s leaking from, both hose fittings are tight and sealed. The only way to use this machine in a permanent manner would require elevating the unit, adding a drain hose preferably tapping into the window plate and adding a drain directly outside. Beyond that just do not buy this unit, it’s loud, leaky and overpriced.BobMan

This must be the single WORST purchase i have made in a VERY long time… for several reasons. Firstly, the thing never really cooled strait out of the box. I ordered it for a SMALL room, simply to assist with my Mother-In-Law who has a medical condition and needs a cooler environment than we do. Initially i though we set it up wrong (not the case) or it was the large windows that directly faced the sun during the hottest part of the day (not the case). It simply never really put out cooled air, and being 100% honest was not much more than an electricity guzzling fan! Furthermore, after just 8 days the stupid thing STOPPED putting out cool air AT ALL and was in fact… just a fan. I was beyond myself, as we all know things are difficult right now and this is not a cheap purchase. I obviously wanted to return it…. right? HA! So not only does it come with a card saying "Do not return to store, contact us", but when attempting to do so I NEVER REACHED ANYONE AND NEVER GOT A RESPONSE BACK! Well, I figured Walmart is always so good about returns and usually makes it so easy I would just go that route. Not this time. It seemed as if it was going to be a breeze… standard options for return or replacement, offering free pickup, etc… until you get to the "fine print" specific to this item. *Must be in original packaging, fully IN TACT" which doesn't seem like a big deal except for you have to pull the box apart to get it out in the first place, as it is designed that way. So when i drug this heavy thing out to physically return it (hoping to avoid any issue that may arise with a carrier they send) with all parts, in it's original box that I had to tape back together… I WAS TURNED AWAY AT THE COUNTER because the box was "not in tact" and it could not be re-sold that way. OMG. Re-sold? IT DIDN'T WORK! I have to admit i have never had an issue like that with Walmart before, so i don't know why it went this way…. but just save your money and burn it in the fireplace… you will get more out of it.Tisha

Bought this AC last year and thought it was a good substitute for a window unit since my window wouldn’t be totally blocked. It worked “ok” last year, it never fully cooled the room but it was passable. Because I never used the dehumidifier setting I didn’t have to place a drain . Set the unit up this season, same thing. Never used the dehumidifier setting again this season but one day I walked over my rug and it was soaked. The unit was leaking out the bottom. I have to throw out my rug and this unit will be at the curb later this afternoon. I have a window unit being delivered Waste of money, never again. If I still had the box it would be returned.RBrass

Ac worked fine for a few months, then gave me an E1 error code and wouldn't function. I contacted the company since it was under warranty and after getting my information they stopped contacting me. So now I'm stuck with a broken are conditioner. They do not stand behind their products. Terrible customer service and bad quality product. I did a lot of research for an AC for the main level of our house. Kitchen, Dining, and living-room area. We had an old AC that we tossed last year as we planned on getting central air this summer(2020) We used the money for other projects so needed a window unit fast as we live in Michigan and it was about to get 90 degrees. I was thinking of ordering the Koldfront unit but had never heard of the brand, however, after reading the review from the guy that uses this brand for all his apartments I ordered it. I got it in 2 days which was amazing and free shipping, a 5% first time order discount AND and consumers power rebate of 20.00! I looked a lot of places and could not find this deal anywhere else. Also, we needed a unit small enough to fit an 18 inch window, again hard to find an 8000 BTU AC that will fit. This one is a little wider (18.5629 inches) but my husband notched out the plastic on the window and it fits perfectly. I love the bright white color, and on low at 70 degree's it cools off all 3 rooms! Its not whisper quiet, but honestly I don't think for the price you can find anything quieter, it is a running motor after all. So I love this purchase, and would definately recommend this model. We got this air conditioner last year and used it again this year. It definitely surpassed what we expected. It definitely cooled the room we put it in and almost the 2 adjacent to it. When it was on, we could hardly hear it. We also loved the features on it and especially using the remote. I recommend this to anyone looking for a new ac.Charlotte

Perfect fit replacement for our 2002 Winnebago Itasca Horizon. Only thing I had to do was drill the holes for the ductwork connector. Easy to do. Just make a template out of cardboard. Wiring hooks up exactly like the old one. Worked great on on 3 week road trip in over 100 degree heat.sodafish100

I don't have central AC and I don't like window units because I don't like them hanging outside the window. I like that this unit does not take up a lot of space and with the window kit, I can keep my window and screen intact. Also, compared to other portable units, this one is not very loud. I also like the turbo setting if I want to cool down the room quickly. This unit saved me this summer. I slept comfortably every night.Jules Penharlo

this product comes with instructions but not written from someone who speaks english. you have to read it over and over. the parts do not fit in your window without you adding pieces of lumber to elevate the part and the plastic slide has to be cut or the other parts will not attach to it. the fan levels are a joke?? the noise omg hope you have ear plugs for night time.???? the machine does not cool down a room even under the size stated. If you use the remote you need to be standing in front of the machine and thats good because the panel on top is hard to make work. over all it is not worth the price but maybe a 1/4 of it .herb

Really powerful for a small bedroom and adjacent rooms, and it has been a godsend in the hot summer. Two things are keeping this from a 5-star rating. The first is the remote. It works only in a narrow arc and doesn't show the current settings on it via lcd. The second, is that the vent plate doesn't fit well in smaller windows. We had to make modifications to get it to seat in ours. So, check the dimensions if this is a concern for you.tallasaa

Overall, if you can get this unit in one piece, it appears to be value for your money, particularly at season end sales. Fromn what I saw inside, it appears well built. The remote works well…once you install two AAA batteries. Heads up for Canadian buyers, the temperature readings are in fahrenheit…no Celsius switching that I could find.Anonymous

98 degrees in ENC the day my shipment arrived. I waited a full 24 hours before opening the box, standing it upright as recommend because I REALLY wanted it to work as intended. So far it cools very nicely. A couple quick notes and the reason It's not getting five stars. First, I had to drill a drain hole as the unit was filling up with water. The manual says to make sure the drain plug is removed but I couldn't find any drain plug. Second, the install instructions are absolutely awful. They're very vague and seem to have confusing names for all the parts. Be prepared to figure it out yourself.Trevor

We researched at length to decide on this model. This ac installed just fine in a sliding window where a typical window unit doesn’t fit. Sized properly for the room, it cools well. The air intake can be adjusted to recirculate indoor air or to draw outdoor air in—if you’re not cooling it can serve as a fan. This ac is quiet enough for the bedroom, and the remote has a number of features in addition to being handy. For example, you can set the ac to monitor the temperature at the remote, which makes it possible to achieve cooling where it matters most. Then it can run based on that thermostat, which is more efficient (and easier) than repeatedly adjusting the temperature by feel.Zem

After extensive research and reading reviews I can't be more happy with the A/C unit I purchased. After talking with the sales representative and deciding that a smaller unit would suffice for my living room area. He was spot on. The unit is quiet running compared to others we had and works amazing. No trouble during the hot humid days and was easy to install. The vertical unit is a better fit versus the horizontal ones we had in the past. Definitely recommend!Chad

This is a fabulous product. I have been trying for years to cool down a room that doesn't cool as well as my other rooms by my central air system. This unit is very quiet and works far better than these portable air conditioners. All you have to do is vent the hot air emanating from this air conditioner into another room which is easily done by just sticking the hose with a cool air blows into a room and making sure that the exhaust goes into another room.patrick

I purchased the Diamante Ultra 9000 BTU to install in my 2nd floor bonus room. This was my 2nd mini-split install… I figured I'd make it a challenge and do it 18 feet in the air. The unit operates as you would expect. It is quiet, and has very good air flow. Pioneers documentation on the install is very good. I set the system up and vacuumed the lineset down to 180 microns. Released the refrigerant and checked for leaks and was set. I used Pioneers wall mount and lineset covers. Despite my best efforts to isolate the unit with rubber isolators between the wall and also on the feet… I still get a bit of a rumble from the mini split when the compressor is operating under load. I expected it, and my efforts were to limit it. The wall mount is very solid with a heavy gauge metal. However the built in level… popped out when I was attempting to level the mount. (read useless). The 3 inch lineset covers are excellent for the 9,000 or 12,000 BTU installs. The 16 foot lineset and the 3 inch covers are a perfect match. The internal WiFi was a huge reason I went with the Ultra when purchasing. I didn't want to buy a base unit and then have to shop around for the WiFi module. The extra Seer rating of the Ultra and the included WiFi module were why I decided it made sense and the extra money was worth it. The actual support for the module that comes with the unit… is almost non-existant. The enclosed directions send you to a Pioneer website to download the documentation. The Documentation isn't for the module in the Ultra system. I managed to read enough into the directions to muddle my way through to activating the WiFi system and getting it operational. The WiFi settings and the remote don't communicate. When you make a change on the WiFi the remote has no idea what just happened. The WiFi control overall is very good, and very similar to the other mini-split I installed. I was disappointed to open the indoor unit and find no filters. Well, there are 2 small 2×8 inch filters. But the rest of the unit has no filtering system installed, and none available to purchase that I can find on Pioneers website. I've sent questions to Pioneer via email and on this site via questions with no response. The indoor air-handler has no filtering system installed. That alone caused me to lower my rating on this product. The WiFi support was another rating bomb. Overall the Pioneer® Diamante Ultra 9,000 is a good unit. There is nothing exceptional about it. The high seer rating is great, but the lack of WiFi documentation and the lack of indoor filters included with the unit are puzzling for a system deemed "Ultra". Then when I go to register the product, I find that I also need to go back out and go 18 feet in the air – open the cover to the electrical to find the serial number for the outdoor unit, and go to the indoor unit an open the electrical cover (per the directions) to find the serial number… there is nothing under that cover other than electrical connections. Pioneer, include the serial numbers in your shipping documentation in the future. Overall the Pioneer® Diamante Ultra 9,000 appears to be a good unit. Would I recommend it over any other 9,000 BTU system.. probably not. It gives me very little extra, for the additional expense. Would I recommend it overall… yes, it appears to be solid and well built and performs as expected.Doug P.

Following installation, this unit threw an E0 code, indicating a signal problem between the indoor/outdoor. 11 support emails later they stopped responding. I contacted Pioneer support via email, and while the first support person was helpful in troubleshooting, two different other support persons were slow to respond and provided useless instructions. They had me clip the crimped ends of the signal wire, and connect with bare copper. They have asked for pics and voltage measures which I supplied, and all installation components have the correct voltages. The installer seems to think it is the PCM, but I'm not going to remove, test, and reinstall the PCM.JD

I received my unit in great shape! Well packaged and with all the parts needed! It took me about four hours to install as I had to build a frame to mount on. Instructions is a little confusing but gives you all the information you need. Read it front to back before starting, This is a two-person job lifting the inside unit into place. And care has to be taken unwinding the gas lines to prevent kinking. Be sure to use the flare seal! Now, after all, was together. I went through the startup checklist and fired the unit up. Silence! Not bad, Good Silence! The unit was so quiet I had to put my hand in front to feel the air and walk outside to see if the unit was running. It, too, was almost impossible to hear from just a foot or two. I have run the unit for a few weeks, and it cools and heats my 55 x 25 garage perfectly. The only problem was it started dripping water inside, which turned out to be my fault. The frame I built was tilted slightly, and the drain hose was not positioned correctly. A big hammer straightened the frame and fixed a lower hole for the drain. I have my vacuum pump and gauges, so I did it all myself, but I think just about anyone with a bit of mechanical and electrical skills could easily handle the job.Gordon

I am renovating a small cottage home that was built in 1957. The attic is only about 2' tall at the apex and is very little room to run duct work. The house originally had 3 window units and in wall heaters that we never used due to in my opinion being major fire hazards. We saw this unit and decided to give it a try since I had already torn out the walls and needed something to replace the old window units. I have had some experience with HVAC and electrical work so I didn't find it that difficult to run the necessary tubing or wires although it was still a chore to get it routed through the attic and out to the outside compressor unit. The only complaint I have is there is no good way to secure or hide the excess tubing that is left between the units. I will probably have to build a box to hide them so it doesn't look so unsightly. The operation of the units themselves are excellent? I did have one issue with one of the wifi controllers not working but customer service was very quick in sending me a new one and all is well. I love the ability to control the units remotely since this will be a weekend / summer home but I still need to provide some climate control to prevent mold due to the humidity buildup. In the last month of having these units installed my electric bill has decreased drastically now that I don't have to run a window unit constantly to maintain the humidity and temperature in an appropriate level.Ed L.

I don’t typically do reviews but I felt like my experience with this product is one worth sharing. Anyone looking for an inexpensive way to condition a garage, workshop, sunroom or any space that needs a little help should consider a Mrcool DYI mini split. I installed this in my wood shop manly to help control humidity and cool the space during the summer. The instructions are easy to follow and the system is easy to install if you have any mechanical aptitude. The 12k system is light enough for one person to handle and it took me a full day to complete the install which included adding the line set cover kit. So far the system is working great. Both the interior air handler and the exterior compressor are very quiet. I intended to purchase this unit trough Amazon but noticed it shipped from Ingrams Water and Air so I reached out to them via their website to get a quote and was able to save some money. The order process was easy and they got it shipped out within a few days. The unit arrived via UPS in two boxes that are well packed. After I ordered the mini split I decided to order the line set covers and again I found that ordering directly from Ingrams not only saved me a few dollars but was very easy.James S.

The Mr Cool system is unbeatable as a DIY guy. I was leary since I have no HVAC experience but after watching others do the install on you tube I decided I could do this! The units arrived really fast from Premium Home Source and I immediately noticed how professionally the components were packed. You could easily tell that Mr Cool takes pride in their product. Installation was rather easy following the instrictions and watching videos along the way. After completion, the unit works like a champ. I installed the the 12k unit in the 400 sf bedroom and it works quiet and efficient. Spring in Ohio has its ups and downs temperature wise so weve already used both the heat and cool functions and I am pleased to announce that my Mr Cool performed both flawlessly. I am so happy with this unit that I am going to purchase another bigger unit for our great room. I highly recommend Mr Cool. Save big money and do it yourself!Terence C.

I can only give 3 stars because of Goodman's apparent lack of care assembling these units. I purchased one condenser and it had so much fin damage I had to return it. I tried straightening out the fins but 4 hours later I was about 30% done. On the inside of the coil it had about a 2 inch wide strip where someone completely flattened out the coil. I had them ship a second unit which came with less damage and I opted to fix that one. It still took me over 4 hours and looks bad. A lot of the assembling looks very hap-hazard. They should pay the workers more to care or hire different workers. The box says ""American Pride"". If this is the outward show of that then maybe they need a new slogan. You can see where they just picked the coils up and slung them into the chassis. The hand/finger prints were heavily embedded in the coils. The copper tubing coming off of the txv was stuck into the coil and would have caused a rub-out quickly had I not adjusted it. The ground wire going to the crankcase heater was disconnected. The external casing had poor quality paint and scrapes down to bare metal. On the first unit Alpine said they would give me $200 for my trouble which I felt was not adequate due to the damage. I chose to return that one, which they gave me a prompt refund on. After I got the second unit and complained about the same issues they would no longer give me the same credit. They claim that the fins do not cause any problem but that is insane because if the air is not flowing then the cooling is impeded. That is the whole purpose of the fins. If it was just a few I would agree but this was substantial both times. I am sorry to say that I will not be purchasing anything more. I bought from this site because of all the good ratings. I have more units to purchase for rentals and for my home. I expected better.Mako

We were finally able to get our unit installed and it's working great so far with all this heatwave we're experiencing. The only issues we had was ordering the wrong unit and having to send it book took quite a bit of time to get situated, and finding an hvac installer qualified that had an opening. My guy only took a couple of hours to get it hooked up and running and we were back in the cool. Alpine did a great job in helping me get the item returned, but i would like to recommend you advise residential customers on the front end that they definitely will need a lift gate delivery so they arent later hit with a lift gate charge. Also many installers in my area hadnt heard of ALPINE as a distributor so that made it a little more difficult to find an installer that wasnt going to charge me an outrageous amount for an install.Get Nana out of the HEAT

Quality Control lacking in final assembly process: they banged up the aluminum fins, two cage screws stripped and one missing, and no compressor blanket which Goodman says they put on all these compressors nowadays. The shipping box was picture-perfect, so these things happened prior to final packaging. This unit sounds very healthy, but the compressor is LOUD. Paired with new CAPT3743C6 coil and new 7/8 / 3/8 x 16' line set. Pulled coil/lineset deep-vac (150 micron) which held steady at 224 with 82 degree indoor temp and 1600 CFM running for 20 minutes. Broke vacuum with precharged R410A and fired that mother up. After 20 minutes (at 1600 CFM) TXV working perfectly, observed 8.3 degree SC and 8.2 to 8.4 SH (that's the TXV). RECOMMENDATIONS: STOP putting the liquid line filter/dryer inside the cage. I prefer to put it indoors. START putting a 16 Cubic Inch suction line filter dryer in the cage just before the compressor – Condenser Engineers should protect their condenser, and the suction line is where they can best do that.Joe Doakes Garage

I spend a lot of time in my garage and was heating it with a pellet stove and kerosene heaters and found that to be time consuming and expensive. I don't usually keep it heated when I am not using it so to heat the garage it takes time to get the pellet stove running and for the garage to heat up. So I bought the Mrcool 36000 diy mini split. I am a Electo- Mechanical Technician so the install was simple for me but this unit is heavy so I suggest help and to consult an electrician on your local codes. The install took about two and a half hours with help not encluding the electrical which I had done on the previous day and it could not be any simpler. The hardest part is hanging the airhandler thats where you need help pulling the tubing through plus i installed the condenser on a side mount bracket and needed help lifting it on. After the install I turned it on and could not believe how quite and hot the air was. I also tested the cooling and now will have the coolest garage in town. The ability to control this unit using the app on my android phone from anywhere is great. I can turn the unit on before I got into the garage and have it heated or cold and ready to go. I suggest this unit to anyone who needs to heat a garage or larger area. The only thing that could be improved on is that this unit requires a 35 amp circuit feeding it and the electrical terminals in the outside unit are to small for 8 awg wire so most do it yourselfers are not going to have the equipment to crimp on the one hole connectors required to make the connection so an electrician might be required to do the connection.Wryzhunter

We got a 2-ton unit for the main part of the house last spring to replace a dead central AC unit that was forty years old. Installed it myself, which cost about a third of what a professional HVAC companies were quoting me. I was worried about failure and warranty coverage, and everybody in the industry tells lies about how bad mini-splits are. They have a HUGE revenue-generating and mature business model they are trying to protect. Don't fall for it. Everything negative they said about mini-splits was a lie. Not only is a MrCool mini split easy to install, it is SO quiet you will not even know it's running, and one unit cooled the whole living area of our house, all summer long. We liked it so well we decided to get a 1-ton unit for our master suite, since it is on the east-wing of our home, away from the central living space. Plus there's an office/gym space with it (converted 4th bedroom) that had a window air in it that worked pretty well, but our bedroom would be too warm on the very hottest nights. So MrCool to the rescue once again. We dumped the old window air and got a mini-split to take over cooling of the entire area. The 12k BTU (1-ton) model is 110/120volt powered, which makes it easy to either route a circuit to it or utilize a lesser used existing one. Units should really have their own dedicated circuit, but it's even easier getting a 110v circuit run. Same deal, it is so quiet you can't even hear it, even when sleeping under it. You do need to point it away from you though or it will freeze you out. LOL All of my worries about installing one successfully, running it, and living with one, were without merit. This has to be THE very best investment/improvement to our home in the 25 years we've lived in it. Plus these two units ended up costing me one-fourth of what the pro's quoted for a new central air system. And yeah, our bill went up in the hottest months, but as soon as we weren't running them 24-7 it dropped right back down. The level of comfort was way worth it. Now, over winter, the hidden benefit of these two MrCool units is that they are a HEAT PUMP compressor so we get nice dry and warm heat to supplant our central gas-furnace. Same deal, they are so quiet you don't even hear them running. And once up to temp the compressor unit (outside part) shuts off and the air handler goes virtually to sleep, just barely turning. Same deal, so comfortable and efficient – even for heat! With MrCool, you just can't miss. A huge thumbs-up!!Browneye
