Got this for my boat, for aircond without having to run the generator. Works great! The foam cutout for the exhaust tubes fits snugly in a porthole, what a great idea to include it. Don't mind the noise, beats the heck out of generator noise. And — low wattage draw means I could even run it from the house batteries or a spare Jackery pack if I wanted to. I pipe the water exhaust into an Igloo 2gal drink cooler, easy as pie. Zzzz!Eric A.

It’s a battery powered regular air conditioner for $1500 with no thermostat, or any temperature control. The batter sucks down in an hour, and the air is no more than 15 degrees cooler. No thanks, I’ll be returning it.

I was trying to figure out where to send my photo showing how I use my Mark 2, I saw photos on your website from users. I think it’s a pretty unique use. We are allowed to bring pets to work and our office is normally really hot during the summer months. My dog Brigham (female black lab) constantly pants because she is to hot. Even fans would not help. This product is a life saver. Literally. Now she gets a nice cool breeze and barely moves from her bed that sits under my desk. I have a container to collect water and about once every 2 weeks I use a fish tank pump to pump out the water. I did put small filters on the intakes to prevent dog hair from entering the system. Brought on internet from a Big Box store, was delivered to store where I picked it up. The shipping box was in good condition but when I opened it, I found the spot welds on the left bottom frame were not connected (see picture)….need better QA process? I did not want to lug this 113lb unit back to store so I fixed the frame by drilling two holes & bolting the frame back together. Window installation was rather involved (as another review mentioned) where you have to remove the internal unit from the frame, install the frame in the window and then slide the 100+ lb unit back into the frame….definitely need two people to install properly. Also the two external mounting support brackets that come with the unit are useless….if you install in a window, I strongly advise purchasing a heavy duty external support bracket because this heavy unit will put undue stress on the window frame over its lifetime. The operation of the AC has been working well, given the pain it was to install (make sure your window has enough space….it is a big unit). Only used it 5 times so far in Hot August 90+ degree weather and it definitely cools the house. I bought this unit with more BTU's then I needed so I could run on low fan & in economy mode. It is a bit noisy when running and I think something is loose or misaligned because at times when the compressor comes on, the front of the unit will vibrate loudly until I give it a light slap on the side, then the noise stops. I plan to use some rubber shims to see if it might be a frame alignmentPDS1

Works great as a replacement for my old 13.8kBTU AC in an area with 6 south facing windows. Sealed it up really well with extra weatherstripping around and inside to stop any air leaks. With the wireless app, I can turn it on while we’re driving home so it’s cooled down by the time we arrive. Additional slide in side panels help ensure the louvers maintain their seal and add insulation R value which is good since we leave this installed year round. Eco mode cycles the fan on and off as well as the compressor for additional energy savings. This 15.1kBTU AC draws less current than the old 13.8kBTU unit removed, so more cooling for less power. This unit has zero problems cooling my entire 850 sq ft downstairs. I did the installation by myself, which probably isn’t recommended as you have to take out the AC unit from the cage, install the cage into the window, and then lift the heavy AC unit into the installed cage. Would definitely recommend 2 people to lift the device to be safe but I was alone and just needed to get the unit in ASAP. It takes a little bit of time to install but is definitely worth it after you get it in. It’s also nice that you can control the unit from anywhere with the app, which tells you the temp in your house and gives you full control over the unit from wherever you may be. You also do not need any adaptors or any changes to electrical work in your home and can be plugged into the standard house electrical outlets. Would highly recommend!Ak84

This must be the single WORST purchase i have made in a VERY long time… for several reasons. Firstly, the thing never really cooled strait out of the box. I ordered it for a SMALL room, simply to assist with my Mother-In-Law who has a medical condition and needs a cooler environment than we do. Initially i though we set it up wrong (not the case) or it was the large windows that directly faced the sun during the hottest part of the day (not the case). It simply never really put out cooled air, and being 100% honest was not much more than an electricity guzzling fan! Furthermore, after just 8 days the stupid thing STOPPED putting out cool air AT ALL and was in fact… just a fan. I was beyond myself, as we all know things are difficult right now and this is not a cheap purchase. I obviously wanted to return it…. right? HA! So not only does it come with a card saying "Do not return to store, contact us", but when attempting to do so I NEVER REACHED ANYONE AND NEVER GOT A RESPONSE BACK! Well, I figured Walmart is always so good about returns and usually makes it so easy I would just go that route. Not this time. It seemed as if it was going to be a breeze… standard options for return or replacement, offering free pickup, etc… until you get to the "fine print" specific to this item. *Must be in original packaging, fully IN TACT" which doesn't seem like a big deal except for you have to pull the box apart to get it out in the first place, as it is designed that way. So when i drug this heavy thing out to physically return it (hoping to avoid any issue that may arise with a carrier they send) with all parts, in it's original box that I had to tape back together… I WAS TURNED AWAY AT THE COUNTER because the box was "not in tact" and it could not be re-sold that way. OMG. Re-sold? IT DIDN'T WORK! I have to admit i have never had an issue like that with Walmart before, so i don't know why it went this way…. but just save your money and burn it in the fireplace… you will get more out of it.Tisha

Bought this AC last year and thought it was a good substitute for a window unit since my window wouldn’t be totally blocked. It worked “ok” last year, it never fully cooled the room but it was passable. Because I never used the dehumidifier setting I didn’t have to place a drain . Set the unit up this season, same thing. Never used the dehumidifier setting again this season but one day I walked over my rug and it was soaked. The unit was leaking out the bottom. I have to throw out my rug and this unit will be at the curb later this afternoon. I have a window unit being delivered Waste of money, never again. If I still had the box it would be returned.RBrass

Ac worked fine for a few months, then gave me an E1 error code and wouldn't function. I contacted the company since it was under warranty and after getting my information they stopped contacting me. So now I'm stuck with a broken are conditioner. They do not stand behind their products. Terrible customer service and bad quality product. As a retired sheet metal worker, I've installed literally hundreds of systems. This was an easy installation only needing 2 fittings for the line set. The only downside was having to use my swedging tool on the indoor coil's vapor line after cutting it open. This might pose problematic for regular DIY. Changing this to the standard OD male size would be my suggestion. Otherwise the outdoor unit runs great and is whisper quiet.Greg S.

When first installed, we had cool nights going, then it got insanely cold – more than usual for South Central Texas. On nights where it was below freezing, we found the system to not be generating the heat that it was – working harder to keep up. Our old unit went out so by the time we pay to get it fixed we were better off buying a new one. My nephew works for Ingrams Water & Air Equipment in Hickory, KY. My first orinigal purchase was an Artic King 10,000 BTU 230V which was the wrong voltage so I had to return it and then I bought this Keystone 8,000 BTU 115V which works perfectly ! It blows freezing cold air which is great and cold my small room really fast. It was worth the purchase and so far the Keystone brand is really good (I also have another one for my living room 2yrs + and it still works great)ROBIN

Replaced an old Frigidaire unit that was 8 years old and wasn't cooling anymore. The keystone was nearly half the price of the old unit and it cools my 250 square feet room within minutes! Noise levels aren't quiet but it does a good job at cooling the room and that's what matters. The noise is also bearable, it creates a nice background noise that does not interrupt sleep.Bryan

Anyone have a photo of the connections to the outside unit? The instructions are… confusing. Addendum : Finally figured out the wiring connections. Works. Well. Dead quiet. Cools a 15×15 room (with 9 foot ceilings) no problem, even when it's pushing 100 degrees & 100% humidity outside. I did a DIY install. May be a little much for a beginner, but if your good enough to follow the guys on PBS's "This Old House" (and understand what they're saying) you'll should be okay. I was a little confused with the wiring at first, for some reason I thought it plugged into a regular 110 outlet through the indoor part. It does not. You'll have to run 30 amp wiring (and a 30 amp breaker) to your electrical panel, and add a weather proof cut off box outside by your unit (USA building codes). And run all your outside wiring through shielding. The inside unit gets it power from the outside part. For some reason I was expecting about the same noise levels and air flow as a 12,000 btu window unit. It's nothing like that. As I mentioned the inside unit is amazing quiet, and the airflow is much less than what you would get from an equivalent window unit. But it DOES get the job done just fine, and the noise levels (or a lack thereof) is simply amazing. So now you know what to expect.Hope this helps you out, wish I could have read a review like this BEFORE I bought the thing. Would have made the install go a lot quicker. As is probably took me 5-6 hours to install the first one, the second one should take about 1 hour once you know what your doing.robdao_27

I purchased the Diamante Ultra 9000 BTU to install in my 2nd floor bonus room. This was my 2nd mini-split install… I figured I'd make it a challenge and do it 18 feet in the air. The unit operates as you would expect. It is quiet, and has very good air flow. Pioneers documentation on the install is very good. I set the system up and vacuumed the lineset down to 180 microns. Released the refrigerant and checked for leaks and was set. I used Pioneers wall mount and lineset covers. Despite my best efforts to isolate the unit with rubber isolators between the wall and also on the feet… I still get a bit of a rumble from the mini split when the compressor is operating under load. I expected it, and my efforts were to limit it. The wall mount is very solid with a heavy gauge metal. However the built in level… popped out when I was attempting to level the mount. (read useless). The 3 inch lineset covers are excellent for the 9,000 or 12,000 BTU installs. The 16 foot lineset and the 3 inch covers are a perfect match. The internal WiFi was a huge reason I went with the Ultra when purchasing. I didn't want to buy a base unit and then have to shop around for the WiFi module. The extra Seer rating of the Ultra and the included WiFi module were why I decided it made sense and the extra money was worth it. The actual support for the module that comes with the unit… is almost non-existant. The enclosed directions send you to a Pioneer website to download the documentation. The Documentation isn't for the module in the Ultra system. I managed to read enough into the directions to muddle my way through to activating the WiFi system and getting it operational. The WiFi settings and the remote don't communicate. When you make a change on the WiFi the remote has no idea what just happened. The WiFi control overall is very good, and very similar to the other mini-split I installed. I was disappointed to open the indoor unit and find no filters. Well, there are 2 small 2×8 inch filters. But the rest of the unit has no filtering system installed, and none available to purchase that I can find on Pioneers website. I've sent questions to Pioneer via email and on this site via questions with no response. The indoor air-handler has no filtering system installed. That alone caused me to lower my rating on this product. The WiFi support was another rating bomb. Overall the Pioneer® Diamante Ultra 9,000 is a good unit. There is nothing exceptional about it. The high seer rating is great, but the lack of WiFi documentation and the lack of indoor filters included with the unit are puzzling for a system deemed "Ultra". Then when I go to register the product, I find that I also need to go back out and go 18 feet in the air – open the cover to the electrical to find the serial number for the outdoor unit, and go to the indoor unit an open the electrical cover (per the directions) to find the serial number… there is nothing under that cover other than electrical connections. Pioneer, include the serial numbers in your shipping documentation in the future. Overall the Pioneer® Diamante Ultra 9,000 appears to be a good unit. Would I recommend it over any other 9,000 BTU system.. probably not. It gives me very little extra, for the additional expense. Following installation, this unit threw an E0 code, indicating a signal problem between the indoor/outdoor. 11 support emails later they stopped responding. I contacted Pioneer support via email, and while the first support person was helpful in troubleshooting, two different other support persons were slow to respond and provided useless instructions. They had me clip the crimped ends of the signal wire, and connect with bare copper. They have asked for pics and voltage measures which I supplied, and all installation components have the correct voltages. The installer seems to think it is the PCM, but I'm not going to remove, test, and reinstall the PCM.JD

Instructions is a little confusing but gives you all the information you need. Read it front to back before starting, This is a two-person job lifting the inside unit into place. And care has to be taken unwinding the gas lines to prevent kinking. Be sure to use the flare seal! Now, after all, was together. I went through the startup checklist and fired the unit up. Silence! Not bad, Good Silence! The unit was so quiet I had to put my hand in front to feel the air and walk outside to see if the unit was running. It, too, was almost impossible to hear from just a foot or two. I have run the unit for a few weeks, and it cools and heats my 55 x 25 garage perfectly. The only problem was it started dripping water inside, which turned out to be my fault. The frame I built was tilted slightly, and the drain hose was not positioned correctly. A big hammer straightened the frame and fixed a lower hole for the drain. I have my vacuum pump and gauges, so I did it all myself, but I think just about anyone with a bit of mechanical and electrical skills could easily handle the job.Gordon

Bought this AC unit because our old one was dying! After looking at several different manufacturers and options available on each of them we decided to purchase the Fridgidaire model. Let me tell you what, best investment ever! With the ability to set up a schedule on it so it doesn’t need to run all the time, the best. The ability to control it from my phone with the app, life changing! When your on vacation and want to come home to a cooler house, simply turn he AC on from the app before your ready to head home , and when you get there. The room is comfortable. Since I can't clean the condenser on a window a/c any more due to health. Had to trash the 8k Emerson (built in NJ!): Bought at a garage sale. Real copper tubing! So I got convinced by midia and talked my wife into buying one of those sounds rating of42is iis quiet. The troops were revolting,,:75% through the install. I told my wifev. To get the one she wanted. She got this one. Works great and electric bill is lower ($30/m,?) Frigidaire was a good name (:GM). The wifi is nice if you are mobility challenged. It does some weird virtual router thing to get than going. You need a smartphone but then you work it from Honolulu. The only thing I don't like is the setting won't stay lit.Fred V4

This little unit does it's job as you would expect. Sometimes, that's all your asking for. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 just because of there are a few minor things they could improve if you want a perfect product rating. The stick on foam for the top that the window butts against is a pretty inconsistent design. I hate leaving something up to the user when it's always going to be needed and it could be a better fitting piece added at the factory. Since it's going on across a recessed, almost U shaped piece, you'll never get it perfect. The accordion sides could use an enhancement, especially as there is a minimum width if you choose to use them and no option in-between not using using them and that minimum width. They'll always stick out at least an inch and half. What happens if your gap is just 1 inch. You'll have to come up with your own creative solution. Outside of those few things, the fan blows hard on high and blows cool. I always hesitate to talk about how well one of these works in a certain room because all rooms are different. The room I have it in is pretty open and large, but this is near my desk where I work and it does it's job to keep me cool on a hot summer day. I also appreciate the fact that it has a remote, but also is Bluetooth and controlled through the Frigidaire app. I found both to work equally well. Note, the 'screen' on the unit shuts off after it's been on for a while and the unit keeps running. I actually like that and I am sure someone using it while sleeping would like that – no bright lights glaring at you. Again, I mentioned some criticisms, but those were minimal and garnered an overall 4/5 still because the unit has been great. If I could go 4.5/5 I would. I was fortunate in that I didn't need the side accordions because this thing fit like a glove in my small vertical opening window. I would recommend it.StevePL

Pros: quiet. temperature control is large. Light is discreet in my little room, I can control the indoor LED lighting, or leave only output at temp. Not me, or anyone bother else.Holds a heck of a lot of cans and bottles. Sometimes you have to be creative with your media, but come on, man. The Good- Its got a small footprint. Works good in a 20' by 15' room. Its energy efficient. Its 8000 BTU's. It was packaged very well and arrived without damage. It's Wi-Fi enabled and Has great instructions that allowed me to easily connect to my phone. It was easily installed and worked right out of the box. The Bad- It's got a small footprint. This is not an extremely powerful unit. The filter area is small and doesn't completely cover the inlet area letting in debris through the open areas. There is no room temp readout only a set to temp readout. The plastic the front of the unit is made of flimsy not very high quality plastic.hlcram

one issue that turned out not to be an issue was that when the air condition compressor went off because the desired temp had been met, the unit stopped vs continuing to keep the fan running. what i found out was this was because i inadvertently had the 'smart' or 'eco' temp feature turned on. clearly to save energy, this feature will click everything off when the correct temp has been reached…which i likely will use when i go to sleep. however, when i'm in the room with the air conditioner on, i wish to have the fan remain on…and am very happy to have discovered what was causing it to go off. i've noticed other reviewers thinking the fan normally stops, but that is true only when you have the energy saver mode on.johnnyjohnny

I spend a lot of time in my garage and was heating it with a pellet stove and kerosene heaters and found that to be time consuming and expensive. I don't usually keep it heated when I am not using it so to heat the garage it takes time to get the pellet stove running and for the garage to heat up. So I bought the Mrcool 36000 diy mini split. I am a Electo- Mechanical Technician so the install was simple for me but this unit is heavy so I suggest help and to consult an electrician on your local codes. The install took about two and a half hours with help not encluding the electrical which I had done on the previous day and it could not be any simpler. The hardest part is hanging the airhandler thats where you need help pulling the tubing through plus i installed the condenser on a side mount bracket and needed help lifting it on. After the install I turned it on and could not believe how quite and hot the air was. I also tested the cooling and now will have the coolest garage in town. The ability to control this unit using the app on my android phone from anywhere is great. I can turn the unit on before I got into the garage and have it heated or cold and ready to go. I suggest this unit to anyone who needs to heat a garage or larger area. The only thing that could be improved on is that this unit requires a 35 amp circuit feeding it and the electrical terminals in the outside unit are to small for 8 awg wire so most do it yourselfers are not going to have the equipment to crimp on the one hole connectors required to make the connection so an electrician might be required to do the connection.Wryzhunter

We got a 2-ton unit for the main part of the house last spring to replace a dead central AC unit that was forty years old. Installed it myself, which cost about a third of what a professional HVAC companies were quoting me. I was worried about failure and warranty coverage, and everybody in the industry tells lies about how bad mini-splits are. They have a HUGE revenue-generating and mature business model they are trying to protect. Don't fall for it. Everything negative they said about mini-splits was a lie. Not only is a MrCool mini split easy to install, it is SO quiet you will not even know it's running, and one unit cooled the whole living area of our house, all summer long. We liked it so well we decided to get a 1-ton unit for our master suite, since it is on the east-wing of our home, away from the central living space. Plus there's an office/gym space with it (converted 4th bedroom) that had a window air in it that worked pretty well, but our bedroom would be too warm on the very hottest nights. So MrCool to the rescue once again. We dumped the old window air and got a mini-split to take over cooling of the entire area. The 12k BTU (1-ton) model is 110/120volt powered, which makes it easy to either route a circuit to it or utilize a lesser used existing one. Units should really have their own dedicated circuit, but it's even easier getting a 110v circuit run. Same deal, it is so quiet you can't even hear it, even when sleeping under it. You do need to point it away from you though or it will freeze you out. LOL All of my worries about installing one successfully, running it, and living with one, were without merit. This has to be THE very best investment/improvement to our home in the 25 years we've lived in it. Plus these two units ended up costing me one-fourth of what the pro's quoted for a new central air system. And yeah, our bill went up in the hottest months, but as soon as we weren't running them 24-7 it dropped right back down. The level of comfort was way worth it. Now, over winter, the hidden benefit of these two MrCool units is that they are a HEAT PUMP compressor so we get nice dry and warm heat to supplant our central gas-furnace. Same deal, they are so quiet you don't even hear them running. And once up to temp the compressor unit (outside part) shuts off and the air handler goes virtually to sleep, just barely turning. Maybe all portable air conditioners suffer from this, but for my next purchase, I will be looking for one in which the exhaust hose actually can attach to both the unit and the vent piece easily and securely. The unit works ok and cools one average size room (I think my high ceilings affect performance despite keeping my ceiling fan running) but it has to stay on 24/7. If I need to move it or turn unit off and remove exhaust from window (mostly due to wildfire smoke), I have to re-attach the exhaust hose that keeps falling off. I have used duct tapt to secure it because it really doesn't attach well (poor design.) It is otherwise easy to set up and use, but it never cools the room to the temperature I set it at; it does provide relief and makes the room habitable. The caster wheels are also super slippery and the unit will roll around at will. I keep it set on pretty high and can easily sleep with it on, so it is good as far as sound goes, which is good because it has to stay on continuously.Gina

It will cool one large room well. I’m not sure about the word “portable” because you MUST have a window for the exhaust tube (The window fit is reminiscent of regular window air-conditioning units, except this unit sits on the floor with a clothes-dryer-type hose that hangs out of the window. It comes with plastic spacers that block out the rest of the open window space.) I envisioned taking it from room to room — wherever I currently needed it. I suppose I could, but I’d have to go through that entire window set up, and that seems like too much (especially when I’m hot, sweaty, and cranky). It works very well!Darla

My bedroom is the top floor of a loft with 25 foot ceilings and far bigger than recommended square footage, so I just knew it was going to be difficult to cool my space. I figured I put it by my bed and not move much further than that. I placed it in the far corner of my room close to my bed, but to my surprise, this little machine cooled off the space exceotionally well, and it even cooled the floor below my bedroom. And we had three straight days of heat-advisory temperatures. I'm very pleased with this unit. It arrived in less than two days, and the hardest thing about set up was carrying it up the stairs and trying the thread the hose into the vents. But that was my malfunction. I love this unit, and it's made me a lot less discouraged about facing the summer.SL

I purchased the 36k DIY unit as a kit off eBay. They included a disconnect, surge suppressor, wall mount bracket for the compressor and some other things. All went well with delivery. Upon beginning installation on my red brick garage, I drilled and anchored the compressor mount to the brick wall and set the unit on it. All seemed OK until I discovered that the rear clearance was only 4.5 inches between the unit and the wall. The specs call for 12 inches. I called the seller who referred me to Mr. Cool. I called several times only to receive a recording telling me what their business hours were. I was calling during business hours, but no luck. I did a little research and found another vendor selling the same mount I received, but they also has a larger one for the 24k and 36k units. This one would provide more weight capacity and also give the required clearance. I called the seller back and they said that it really should be set on a ground pad….ok, then why did you sell me a wall mount?? I referred them to the other vendor website so they could see the heavier mount. My seller did make quick work of ordering me the heavier mount (free of charge). Problem was I am now half way through the install and can’t wait several days for the mount. I used a one inch thick fiberglass panel I had to create a ground pad (even though I really didn’t want it on the ground), but the job is done. I guess when the new mount arrives I will make a killer shelf with it. I coiled up all the extra lines inside a cheap deck box from Home Depot after make entrance and exit holes in the back of the box. The AC unit works GREAT!!!! Laser thermometer pointed directly at the coils at a distance of about 12 inches and I can get readings of 19 degrees!!!Copper799

I spend a lot of time in my garage and was heating it with a pellet stove and kerosene heaters and found that to be time consuming and expensive. I don't usually keep it heated when I am not using it so to heat the garage it takes time to get the pellet stove running and for the garage to heat up. So I bought the Mrcool 36000 diy mini split. I am a Electo- Mechanical Technician so the install was simple for me but this unit is heavy so I suggest help and to consult an electrician on your local codes. The install took about two and a half hours with help not encluding the electrical which I had done on the previous day and it could not be any simpler. The hardest part is hanging the airhandler thats where you need help pulling the tubing through plus i installed the condenser on a side mount bracket and needed help lifting it on. After the install I turned it on and could not believe how quite and hot the air was. I also tested the cooling and now will have the coolest garage in town. The ability to control this unit using the app on my android phone from anywhere is great. I can turn the unit on before I got into the garage and have it heated or cold and ready to go. I suggest this unit to anyone who needs to heat a garage or larger area. The only thing that could be improved on is that this unit requires a 35 amp circuit feeding it and the electrical terminals in the outside unit are to small for 8 awg wire so most do it yourselfers are not going to have the equipment to crimp on the one hole connectors required to make the connection so an electrician might be required to do the connection.Wryzhunter

This ac unit arrived to me damaged. It was dented on the bottom. It was so hot that my husband and I decided to install it anyway and see if it works. Hours and hours and no cool air. It was installed correctly and my husband and I both read the manual over and over. I call QVC and she says they will send a new one out and send mine back asap. No… No. It is 80 lbs so for UPS to pick it up since I can not lift it I have to pay. Then I have to wait for my item to arrive and process before a new one is sent. At least this is what I am assuming because between the live chat and my phone call I got zero info. Summer will be nearly over by the time I get my new one. What a waste of my time and energy. I will never order anything from QVC again.JayBay
