I was so excited to receive the harness – it seemed like a huge upgrade from the old one I bought from Tractor Supply that my dog was using. Well. It took twice as long as expected to arrive which is ridiculous when I paid for shipping. The shipping fees were refunded, but I had purchased the item with the intent to use it by a specific date which didn’t happen since it didn’t arrive until MUCH later. When it finally did show up the package was ripped almost completely open and the packaging of the product was all messed up which is also ridiculous. Alright it’s here, looks like **** but it’s here. It’s a much brighter blue than I expected which I like. It took a little while to figure out how to adjust as the ends were so firmly tucked into the harness I thought I was going to break it. Finally got it on and adjusted and “Meh”. It’s not deep enough (front to back) in my opinion, and my dog is not an odd or unusual shape. I do like that it covers less surface area, she appears to stay cooler (but a double coated black dog in the humid Midwest is always hot). It does sag when wet (which is almost always as she swims regularly) BUT it dries and goes back to the original fit which is a pro I guess. I say I guess because I didn’t expect a harness I paid over $80 to sag at all when wet but ♀ It doesn’t show any wear yet which it shouldn’t for only having it 2 weeks. It does shift like crazy. Not as bad as the cheap tractor supply one, but again I expected ZERO shifting from the $80+ harness. Honestly I probably won’t buy again. I was super excited to find a harness with everything I wanted: reflectors (which the ones on this harness ****, seriously for $80 y’all couldn’t put reflective piping on all edges?!), a handle on the back, bright blue, goes over the head/ NOT a step through and had a back leash clip. But honestly I’m pretty disappointed. There is a lot of room for improvement in what I consider an expensive harness (more reflective piping, padding under the middle set of buckles, better fit, better choice of shipping carriers). My girl discovered early on that she can back out of her harness in a heartbeat. She can't back out of the Flagline harness (yay!) and – more importantly – if needed, I can pull on the leash / harness without fear of hurting her. (There have been a couple times when we've encountered dogs who are too friendly — having the Flagline harness on my girl made it much easier to pull her back to a safe distance without fear of hurting her or having the harness pop off at a bad time.) The harness is easy to put on / take off. It's strong. The reflective trim helps make her more visible. The adjustable straps make it easy to size up during the winter time when she's got winter coat(s) to accommodate. Having clips for closure is so much nicer than harnesses with velcro closures. (Velcro closure doesn't last long – and trying to wash anything with velcro – oy veh!) The harness is super adjustable and fits my pups barrel chest so well! We wanted the waist clip as the single rib clip always slipped off or got loose and it wasn’t enough security for us. We also really love the handles! The front loop works super well to mitigate some pulling (pups only 8 months old) and my favorite feature is the inner material that rests on his body, it’s not mesh or fabric that his short coat sticks into so his hair isn’t being rubbed off or sticking in the harness getting stuck in cracks and making it itchy or difficult to clean. I really really wanted to like this harness. My lab/pit doesn’t so much “pull” as she is just a speed walker. I’ve tried just about everything to curb this insistent need to be ahead of me. I’ve tried various collars, harnesses, head leads, and even took her to training classes. That and because my dog had an odd barrel shaped chest trying to get a good measurement for her often doesn’t go too well, and as much as I wanted in like this harness all it ended up doing was leaving bad sores under her armpits, which isn’t so much the fault of the product as much as it’s the fault of my dog who insists on being ahead of me no matter how fast I walk (and I tend to walk at the pace of a light jog!) Alas I’ve just put her back in her old harness, but perhaps when she’s older and has hopefully calmed down, I can then put her in something like this. Our five-month-old golden retriever puppy was starting to get really strong, and her oppositional pulling (or dragging) when using just a collar or typical chest harness was making walks less than fun for everyone. The dog trainer recommended a shoulder harness like this, and when paired with a runner's leash (and positive reinforcement), it makes for a much more relaxed and enjoyable walk. We have two of these, one small and one extra small because neither will fit a French Bulldog properly (Purchased the first one based on her measurements and the chart). We use the extra small since it is the best fit. We have noticed chafing under our dog's front legs where the halter rubs her, she now has no hair there on either side. The purpose of the front leash ring is to discourage pulling but what we have found is that the harness pulls to one side, twists around the dog, and pulls up under the leg opposite of the leash side. The harness loosens as the dog pulls, so you must keep adjusting it or it will be too loose. Our dog is white. This harness is working great for us. I got it for my dog with some *mild* mobility issues. I read all of the reviews prior to purchasing and RuffWear is very clear that this is not made for older dogs with mobility issues and I knew that going into it, therefore knew what to expect and for my dogs abilities, it is perfect for us. My dog is fully capable getting around, getting up from laying and walking without assistance. I simply needed a harness that had a small handle on the **** area to guide him up the stairs. He can get up the stairs on his own and mostly does not need my assistance with the **** handle, I merely hold the handle to lessen the chance of injury in case he slips on the stairs. So if he slips, I've got the handle and he doesn't fall to the ground and down the stairs. And for that, it works perfect. Putting it on is easy (like i said, he can stand just fine). It doesn't have easy snap in buckles due to the harness' original purpose, which I was aware of and I don't mind threading the straps each time. It takes less than an minute and the harness is worth it. I opted for this rather than a harness intended for mobility issues because my dog's needs are minimal and the ones from other brands are a bit much considering my dog doesn't need help walking or rising. I do wish it had a traditional hook for a leash. I had to get a carabiner to attach a leash to the harness. I realize it's intended use and it has spots to attach rope, but even if we were using it for it's intended use, I would imagine there are still moments where some people may use a leash?? Maybe not, anyhow the carabiner worked, just an extra step initially. As for sizing, I got Medium. My dog is a 62lb lab mix. His measurements were just at the cusp of med-large, but more toward medium so thats what I went with. It mostly fits well. There is one single strap that is a bit short and doesn't go any longer than I have it. It's the strap that goes from the underside chest pad to the neck straps. I can make the neck straps longer but it doesnt really make a difference. If that one strap was just a bit longer I think it would be perfect. I think my dog is comfortable with harness for the time he wears it (two walks a day) but if I were to leave it on him all day, it would be tight around that area. The rest of the harness fits perfect so i would imagine the large would be been a bit too big for him. Considering I take it off between walks, that minor sizing issue isn't a deal breaker for us. If he wore the harness for hours at a time (or for it's intended use) then I think it would pose a comfort issue. So just consider that if your dog is also on the cusp of sizing.Taylor C.

I chose the Walk About Harness and a matching leash to use for my dog’s “working gear”. I’m training him to be a registered therapy dog and it was suggested that he have different gear for this. We call it his working gear so he knows the difference when I put the Kurgo harness and leash on instead of his nonworking harness and leash. He quickly learned the difference and it has helped immensely with his training.
Doesn’t hold up well to daily use; the metal strap adjusters cut into the straps with daily wear and I’ve already noticed tears in the straps where the adjusters are. This harness has been the first I’ve found that enables me to adjust it to fit my dog’s narrow front chest however it does not appear to hold up well to daily use. I would not purchase again since it appears the straps will tear and fall apart in a couple months.ShannonC
I really like that this has a front and back clip so we don't have to change out harnesses for walking and car rides. And there's a lot of room for adjusting the size, including the chest. Our golden has a narrow chest/shoulders and other no-pull harnesses would have a pretty big gap that would hang down. The only thing I'd say to watch out for is make sure the adjustable hooks on the chest piece are locked in place after sizing. One did slip out of place (while my dog was rolling around) but, the harness didn't like fall off or anything. And it hasn't happened since, so I think it was more owner error than anything else. Well sewn pieces of dog gear, but the use of them is not actually feasible. The rear harness is sloppy once you get it onto the dog. The size we ordered, per the instructions on the sales site, makes my dog like a sloppy joe in a too big bun. It is not a harness with long enough handles to wear over my shoulder as I walk him–as it was pictured and advertised to be. The handles are only long enough to hold, like a suitcase. It is therefore, a lot of work for the human with a 65 pound wily dog. The design is not great, and it is not useful at all.
