I have been using SWAT since it only came in the bubble gum pink color, so I was very happy when they decided to make it in the clear ointment! SWAT is an excellent product to protect open wounds from flies and gnats, and while I definitely prefer the clear version, I would have continued to use it in pink or clear. My horse is very sensitive to fly bites, especially those under her belly and around her eyes and ears. Even though I put a fly mask on him, she still gets welts from certain kinds of fly bites. Gnats will find any little gaps to get in his ears and cause havoc. I use SWAT around the eyes, ears, and other trouble spots to keep the insects at bay. My lab/beagle mix suffers from skin allergies, and the poor thing will scratch and chew herself until she bleeds, so I was very eager to try this product. My poor pupper got irritated paws from horrible ginko berries smashed all over the fall ground and then made them worse by licking. They were so red and I felt so bad. Bought the Adams flea & tick plus as it came two in a Pkg & we have two small dogs. There was no warning on product that small dogs could suffer side effects more so than larger dogs, I found out online when my baby (the smaller of our two at 11 #'s) started acting very strange. He couldn't be still, yet at bed time he was so tired he would try to lay down & there was involuntary twitching & muscle movement, he couldn't be still. Morning & no difference, so it occurred to us only thing new was the flea collar! Took it off & called my vet. She said long as he hadn't eaten it, he should be ok but to monitor & if he didn't improve he would need pet urgent care. I love my little boy so much! I was in tears, but as day went on he did improve some and that night he was able to sleep right up next to me with some twitching, but not nearly as bad. End of second day, he is much better but I can't imagine the damage done if we hadn't put it together & removed the collar!

This stuff is very effective. What I did was ate dinner on a old plate steak and potatoes was the main course. I didn’t clean the plate just left the juices and very small pieces on it. Put quarter of a cup of quick strike on the plate and spread it around and sat the plate on the middle of our patio table. The next evening I had around 10 to 15 dead flies on the plate and several I could see dead on the table and deck. I’ve left the plate on the table for almost 2 weeks in the hot Texas weather and now the quick strike has melted quite a bit to a liquid form but still kills within 30 seconds. Pricey for such a small can, but this poison works FANTASTIC. I have gone ahead and ordered the 5lb can. We had a real bad fly problem, this stuff took them out in just a few minutes. They are so attracted to this poison that when they start eating it you can almost touch them before they move. But once they have eaten it they drop in two to three minutes. Instead of purchasing individual fly strips I took a gamble and bought this roller. You can tear large sheets off and place them in areas of your barn where flies congregate. Its like a magnet for flies! You can even shoo the flies right onto it with your pitchfork! Some of the narrow strips that I had tried in the past aren’t sticky enough, if the flies land on this …they don’t fly away (which was very frustrating with other products). I was trying to use it to catch spotted lantern flies around the base of my 4’ diameter silver maple. It is super sticky, which it should be, but is really flimsy and tore way too easily. It would tear as I pulled it off the spool and tore as I was trying to apply it to the tree. It did catch the SLF by the thousands so adhesion is superb. It caught so many that I had to replace it every 4-5 days because they kept paving a highway across the tape with trapped SLF bodies. If you do decide to use it for this purpose make sure you cover it with wire mesh to keep birds and squirrels from getting stuck in it.
When I first saw this product, I thought, "it's a Godsend !" My wife and I are dairy goat farmers in Virginia, and believe me, we know flies. We have always used those narrow, long fly strips, which catch a ton of flies but have to be replaced often because they fill up quickly. Son turned 21, so we throw a party in the back yard. My wife says, "I bought these for flies, I hope it works." I read the package and it says it kills up to 20,000 flies and I think, "yeah right" and hang them up. Listen, we have tried those tiki torch things, homemade stuff you make with beer and just about anything else you can imagine. THIS STUFF WORKS. I check the traps after a few hours and there's 5 to 10 flies in each one (we hung 3). No one is waving their hands around to swat anything during the party either. I check the next day and there's a quarter inch worth of dead flies in the bag. A few days later and there is an inch layer of dead flies in the bag and another 15 or so flying in the bag. This stuff is the real deal.
I NEVER write reviews, but this product deserves one. Spring and summer in ETX means TONS of flies swarming around doors and porches and sneaking into the house, only to attack my food and children, who inevitability scream because of the bugs. Enter this fly trap. It took less than two minutes to prep and set up. You will need a way to hang the bag and it does not come with string, as indicated on the instructions. Within a week, I had very successful results (literally hundreds of flies in the bag) and exchanged the trap for a new one. I bought these before, and they are effective. In fact, flies run out of room to visit this "hotel". I have to dispose of these about twice per week (drop into a garbage bag and tie it shut). They're drawn to the used cat litter despite it is in twist-tie storage bags inside garbage bags. The flies obviously find these attractive. Seems we must be drawing flies from the entire neighborhood. I've tried other brands and found them disappointing. They did not draw nearly as many flies, or keep them captured. These are a seasonal product, so buy more than a half-year's worth at two per week which usually gives some spares to use the next spring giving me time to order more. Too bad they don't include a string for hanging, but I've got a roll in the garage to use with these. At one time, I was using a small chain with hook to hang these, but the filth from the flies got on the chain, so it was disgusting to remove or hang a new trap without gloves. With a string, the trap and string get dumped in the trash. Oookay, wow. I don't like when I have to leave a poor review. The 4 dollar stuff is actually better so far it seems. I mean, it works and seems to kill the fleas. She doesn't seem abnormally bothered by it, sensitivity wise. Just typical reaction to having stuff put on a cat. There is way too much solution in a tube, holy cannoli. It's running all down her neck to the sides and front and that is no bueno as she can lick and ingest it! So I took warm water and paper towel, scrub scrub hard and it won't really come off all the way. It's not wet or dripping anymore in that area but can still smell it, so hopefully she'll be alright. I'll give it until tomorrow as it's late and only been less than 2 hours. So far, I'm nervous.
This is a TON of liquid and its runny as water. It ran all down my cat!! I took a paper towel and tried to wipe off the excess before it made it all the way down her front legs. I didnt notice the smell at first but within 5 minutes, my entire living room, dining room, and kitchen smelled like a nail salon. I believed my cat had gotten into some nail polish remover somehow but then i noticed it was the medicine!!! It was SO SO STRONG!! I cannot explain the odor except it literally made 1000 sq feet of my home smell like a nail salon. This stuff is BAD!!!! I took my cat to the bathroom and washed her 2 times. I can still smell it in her fur but she wasnt going to let me shampoo her a 3rd time tonight. Ill try again tomorrow if I can still smell it. Works really well. Presley has been infested with fleas for the last several years (his human brother brought them from his birth Mom's house) and we have been having a super hard time getting rid of them! We use a combo of the flea cream and a flea collar. For YEARS I recommended these to everyone and anyone within ear shot. We breed, raise, train poodles and Bernese mountain dogs. These dogs can be anywhere from 1000-5000 a piece however the pain my family is feeling from this completely avoidable losses no amount can fix. We have not lost just one family member but seven senselessly. It wasn’t till a vet tech advised me in line at our Petco not to buy this product that this was what was making dogs sick! The pets in our house receive love in frequent Caresses', Brushings, Gardens for play and Special beds for sleep. Above ALL, they receive New Seresto Collars on Valentine's day each year ! “It is unacceptable that the EPA has been aware of the Seresto collar’s safety concerns for years and has continued to allow Americans to unknowingly put their pets in danger by using a product they have been led to believe is safe,” said Chairman Krishnamoorthi. “While I am pleased by the EPA’s new commitment to revisit the incident data, I urge the agency to initiate formal Notice of Intent to Cancel proceedings to determine whether the Seresto collar should be removed from the market, including a comprehensive cost-benefit review of its serious risks. Following the Subcommittee’s disturbing findings, I believe the EPA must expand its data collection standards and more strictly follow its scientific review process to ensure that dangerous products are not permitted to stay on the market and threaten the welfare of pets that so many Americans view as family.”
The Seresto flea and tick collar received EPA approval in 2012 and was introduced to the market in 2013. Since then, Bayer—the original brand owner of the collar—and Elanco—which purchased the product in 2020, have sold more than 30 million collars. Pet owners embraced the convenience of the product, which provides 8 months of flea and tick protection for dogs and cats for under $70, and which is widely sold by pet specialty stores, online pet pharmacies, and large online retailers.
The Subcommittee launched its investigation into the collars in March 2021, following the publication of an investigative report which revealed that, as of June 2020, there had been more than 75,000 incidents and approximately 1,700 pet deaths linked to the Seresto collar. Since then, the reported numbers have increased to more than 98,000 incidents and 2,500 pet deaths.
The Subcommittee reviewed emails from the EPA, as well as documents from Bayer and Elanco, that showed the EPA was aware of these incident numbers and the dangers caused by the collar yet failed to act. Documents and communications obtained by the Subcommittee reveal:
EPA Rushed Seresto’s Approval Through a Flawed Scientific Review Process: An EPA Risk Manager wrote in 2016 that the agency “rushed” the Seresto collar’s registration so that the CDC could use the collars in a study. The California Department of Pesticide Regulation found that key studies that tested the Seresto collar on adult dogs and cats were not acceptable because the studies “greatly under-estimated the exposures” to one of the collar’s active ingredients. These collars are ineffective! I have found multiple attached ticks on my dogs, right next to the collar. I have used Adams Flea and tick products for foster dogs/cats before, and they seemed to work well. So although I prefer not to use poisons, thought I would try on my own dogs after a mild winter and ticks are appearing in this area (Central NH) more and more. Very disappointed. Wish I could return them, but did not save the packaging.D
The Adams Flea Tick Collar for Dogs are my go-to tick collars for my four-legged babies!! They really work great and very inexpensive. I’ve always really like that they come in packs of 2 because I have 2 big doggies. However, we just recently welcomed a a new baby into our family. Chief’s a full-blooded Chocolate Lab. My 4 month old chiuahaua puppy hasn't been right since buying this collar! Started out fine and then by that night I was woke up to my furbaby scratching uncontrollably at his neck and twitching like he was being stung randomly then came the hallucinations bc he we are night 2 and collar free of course and he's been up all night crying and restless with doe eyes and terror. Not only does this spray repel and kill, the quality of the sprayer head and the mist pattern is the best! The only spray we've used that even came close to effectiveness was Feibings 44 but their sprayers are junk and it costs much more. The oil base of this spray helps it last a solid 8 hours of turnout. None of ours have had adverse skin reactions to this one, we've had issues with several other sprays in the past. The Pyranha Wipe N Spray gets the job done. When I bring my boy in from the pasture to the barn, as he stands in the cross-ties I can tell within half a minute how the flies are that day. When he fidgets and stamps in the aisle, this tells me to spray him – stat! Once I treat his legs and belly, he relaxes right away and we can go about the business of getting him ready to ride. I have been using Pyranha Wipe N' Spray for the last 8 years, and I like to call it 'Liquid Gold'. I am able to see first hand that this fly spray kills and repels flies. When I spray a fly that has landed on my horse, the fly immediately falls to the ground. This fly spray can last for a while too! I will spray my horse once a day and it deters the bugs all day long. I feel this is one of the top fly sprays I have ever used because it continuously works for a long time and it is effective. I recommend this fly spray for horses that need a little extra support with deterring bugs. Gave it 4 stars because I just finished dipping my cats and dog. As I was pouring the solution and rubbing it in I was watching the fleas drop off them dead. As soon as my cats come out of hiding I will flea comb them. But I will update if I see that it does really work well. But for the price I recommend that it is given a tryP.

So my dog has been having the worst issues when it comes to fleas and i live in a tropical island where it feels like Flea season all year round. And my pup was full of them all of the time. I cried every time i had to comb them out and or applied every natural Remedy i have tried since his skin is sensitive. Not to mention flea shampoo only brought more of them. Then i watched a groomers video on a dog that had fleas and used this product. That it was a pesticide but when used with caution it was effective. I adopted two very rambunctious puppies and bought many bottles of Grannick's Bitter Apple to deter them from chewing on things like furniture, shoes, etc. I tried other deterrents as well as puppy chew toys. In my opinion, Grannick's works the best. I gave this product four stars because the pump strayer was defective on a several bottles and did not spray. The liquid just dribbled out. I had to buy a spray bottle to properly apply it. Note: The product may stain. I used it anyway because I did not want the puppies to destroy my sofa. Also, I had to reapply it until my puppies learned that my sofa tastes bad and puppy chew toys taste good. Prior to the puppies, I used Grannick's Bitter Apple on my older dog. He developed a hot spot on his leg. I sprayed his fur around the hot spot, not on the hot spot itself. It worked very well in stopping him from licking that spot.VinTiff2021
This spray works!!! I have a bull dog puppy that loves to chew on everything he should not! I bought two bottles one for home and one for the office as I take him to work with me. No more chewing on the dining room table, my office chair or mist dangerously electrical cords!! Keep in mind that the spray is not effective after it has dried. If you puppy like to chew on your hand spray a little on your hand, one taste and he wont anymore. I have tried other sprays this one WORKS!! My puppy class trainer introduced me to it, could not find in any local pet stores , I ordered from Walmart and received it quickly.Mary
I bought this on advice of a trainer, who said o spray it on a cotton ball or wadded up paper towel, then rub it on my puppy's tongue, so he'd know how bad it tastes. Then, he'd keep off anything that tasted like it. Instead, my black standard golden doodle liked it! I think my dog is weird. He also likes jalapeno peppers (he scarfed one down, that I'd dropped on the floor before I could get it, then wanted more) and lemon slices (the toddler grabbed on, tasted it, made a face, then gave it to the puppy, who loved it). Like I said, weird dog. I'm really looking forward to what this puppy does next! But, so I know where he is, I'm keeping him on a leash indoors, to gently pull him off the furniture (he chewed the bottom edge of my coffee table when no one was looking) and so he can't hide-the end of the leash will give away where he is, and that he's no doubt up to something! BTW, wear gloves when you use this spray. I didn't, and got it on my fingers, then it got onto my lips. I think I had the taste in my mouth for 4 days!Carys

I sprinkle this on the ground in the stalls. Almost immediately I will see dead flies near the application. Kills flies that are in the area without attracting them from hundreds of feet away like a flytrap. If it is not sprinkled it does clump up from humidity within a day or so.AP FL
We all know by now that there really is not a fly spray that actually works. It is one of the biggest crimes committed on us by fly spray makers. They just DO NOT WORK. They may keep a fly or two away for a few minutes…but that is about it! Fly Bait WORKS! It kills them! I sprinkled a little around our feed bins. Best thing next to fly swatter! A little pricey, but this well worth every penny. We had a cookout and put about a teaspoon on this in a cut 2 liter coke bottle with about half a cup of water near trash can and the away from people and food, checked on it about half an hour later and there had to be at least a hundred dead flies in each bottle.rrodri

It seems to work well against ticks but the handling is rather difficult. Really hard to close it and then it cannot be taken off anymore (e.g. for a bath or simply comfort) without breaking it. I very much preferred the other tick collars WnP had, pity they do not sell them anymore.Jochen K.
First, the great: I love the way this collar smells. My husband is extremely sensitive to smells so most of the tick collars have been too strong for him. This cedarwood/ peppermint combo is lovely and not strong-smelling. The good: getting the collar put together was a little tough. The first stop is difficult to get past, but then it’s fine. The not great: I have still gotten a few ticks off of my golden retriever. I still feel this is better than if she didn’t have anything on. Thanks for making a product that is so wonderful.Kate D.
This collar does smell great. We also haven't had any flea or ticks so it's also working. We are not happy with it though for two reasons: 1. It's hard to get tight and one of our cats keeps getting it caught in his jaw when he cleans himself, so we finally had to remove the collar. 2. I am concerned one of our cats could get choked by this collar if caught in something. It's very strong and doesn't have any "break-away," feature so this possibility worries me.Susan K.
