Absolutely useless product. I am aware this is only useful for 24 hours. My dog enjoyed eating it as a treat but other than that it's useless! It did absolutely nothing in 24 hours if anything it seemed like it made it worse! All it seemed to do was irritate the fleas and make them bite more! Also another thing to note after taking this my dogs were extremely extremely thirsty like I've never seen before! Please beware and don't waste your money on this useless product like I did pay the extra 20 dollars and go buy a soresto collar.V

My poor boy. The fleas love him. I can give him a flea bath every day and he's still infested. After trying daily baths, over the counter remides treating my yard and topical treatments, nothing worked so I decided to try a oral treatment. I swear by this. After one treatment I would find fleas on my bed (he jumps up on my bed when I'm not looking because I didn't want to share his unwanted friends) my blanket was covered…. of dead or dying fleas. 1 TREATMENT people. Since I do have two big dogs I will be spending the money monthly. Works great and we'll worth it. And my dogs eat the treatment with no issues.Joanne McCullough

I wanted this to work so bad because my dog is highly allergic to fleas and shreds himself up even when he has the topical flea prevention. Even if a dog around him has fleas he breaks out (our neighbor dog has fleas so my poor pup get around them). I saw this and wanted to try to give him some relief to my itchy pooch. The first day, I saw 3 fleas on my dog and purposefully left them on there to see if it worked. I came back in an hour and they were still there. I figured since it says up to 4 hrs I would wait. Later in the day I checked him, fleas still there. So I thought may it took some time for his body to get accustomed to it. The next day same story, he went outside in the morning I checked him saw he has some fleas, gave him a pill checked him about an hour and a half later, fleas are still having a party. Let it set for the rest of the afternoon and checked him before dinner, still the fleas are alive and kicking. 3rd day same story. At this point I can see it isn’t working and I wasted the $25 it costs for it. At least I didn’t spend the $50 for the month. Look at the reviews and notice several of us back to back have rated it the same so obviously something is wrong here. Avoid and save your money and spend it on the more expensive one!Kate

However, I did have to use another tablet to kill the fleas (which was suggested on the box). This box came with 6 tablets. If you know for certain your dog is not going back to a flea area and this is just a quick fix, buy this. I would buy this for my cat since he's an indoor cat only. First of all, NEVER diss the value of a vet check: your pet , cat or dog, has to be healthy enough for ANY correctly used flea remedies. Yes, vets need to stay in business and some of their prices are quite higher than some reputable online sellers offer. This product alone will not end your flea-festation if it is bad. Fleas spend only a tiny portion of their time on the animal- otherwise they're in your carpets, cracks, furniture, yards- but fleas do normally "dine" twice a day. Giving this oral pill once daily will START to deal with your problem, killing each flea that bites within 24 hours. Nitenpyram is used for both dogs and cats. * Once your cat is cleared for this medication, and weighs at least 3 pounds, it is cost saving to BREAK one 57mg( packaged for Dogs over 25 pounds) tablet into 4 quarters and use one of these quarters for a cat. The normal cat dosage is only 11mg/ the quarter is 14.25mg, not a substantial difference, in fact some vets sell this product this way- at $6-10 per quarter. You do the math. To truly "treat" a severe flea infestation will require your washing all pet bedding, treating carpets, floors, yards- each with diffetent products which each have very specific safety instructions for your pets and family and must be followed to the letter. i got these for my 85 lb dog. seems like it helps he doesnt itch as much after use. i see no fleas.i used the smaller sized dog 1 on my 10lb dog it worked too. you have to 30 day treat. i have 3 dogs and a cat all wear seresto collars but still got fleas somehow ,so since the collars allow to treat with topicals i used advantage plus on all 4. they still have fleas. im using these on top of all that and check my dogs weekly. keep coming up with 4 fleas on 1 dog and 8 on my cat. i dont understand why none of these products are working. the vet says fleas are immune. hows that possible?! id say if this doesnt seem to be working cause you see fleas it probably is but not killing the eggs so its repeat the process. plus do your house. rugs hardwood floors too. why the $80 topicalslhayes

I ordered online last night and picked it up at Petco store this afternoon. It worked well for my dog(24 lb)! I needed something effective product to kill flea after unsuccessful flea shampoo and spray. I and my family got many flea bites as well. I gave my dog a pill tonight. I was expecting to see many fleas drop on the floor but it didn’t. However, 1 hour later I brushed her and found few dead fleas on her body. She is sleeping very well tonight without scratching. Found this by chance at the local store. Applicator type flea stuff isn't all that reliable. The eight month collar option is a no no after reading up on it and finding it can cause a dog to go into convulsions. This once a month soft chew though is great. Our dog didn't scratch once. No side effects. Great stuff. It's so good we can hardly find it on the shelves to refill that way so we have to order on-line.Peachn

I bought these chews for a couple years. For my two dogs and then another 3 dogs that belong to my daughters. The dogs love them and they work really really well. I would rattle the jar and they would all come running 1 did the trick for at least 3 or 4 weeks . Within a few hours the fleas seem to be better . You can re administer as needed and I only had to do that I think the first time when I bought them in the fleas were really bad . When Coronavirus came and we had to start social distancing and staying at home I decided to order something off of Amazon. I bought the advantus yesterday. My babies loved them. I paid $54.99 plus tax $4.54 bringing the grand total to $59.53. Now let's break it down $59.53 divided by 30 days of the month that's a $1.98 per day to protect your baby. I do agree it could have had a lot more stuff to help with the fleas & ticks. Now the reason I said it won't work for me, is because I have 21 babies so instead of buying 1 bottle a month I would be buying 3 1/2 bottles. Now that's serious money, just bathe in dawn dish soap. mist them with a flea and tick spray before they go out to potty your good to go. I gave three stars because I bought it yesterday. After several months and hundreds of $ worth of flea products, baths even shaving my golden retriever I couldn't get the fleas under control. An inside pet only going outside for short periods. Florida heat makes it hard to rid the fleas outdoors. No matter what I did he only had a couple days of relief. So I tried Advantus chews. These soft chews have worked miracles for us. Our inside dog used to constantly come in with fleas and no matter the treatment of baths, collars, dips, etc., nothing would bring her full relief. Last year we saw these on sale and decided this would be a good time to try them. We gave her one and what a difference! It's very distressing to find 3 happy engorged ticks on your dog 24 hours after treatment following all the requirements re: proper placement location on the dog, shaved the hair to make contact only on the skin, no water on the dog for 24 hours or at all after treatment. I was frankly, pretty shocked. This is an older small dog with arthritis. He is already in some pain and to find the ticks on him on top of this frankly really upset me. I breed Chihuahuas and I also foster cats/kittens. My Chihuahuas are litter box trained so they rarely get fleas because they dont spend a whole lot of time outside. Even when we go for walks, theyre in a dog stroller lol. Anyways… I fostered a litter of kittens that were found outside and covered in fleas. I gave them all dawn baths because they were too small for any flea medicine and my Chihuahuas ended up with fleas. I needed a product that was safe for pregnant/ nursing mama which frontline is. Finally something that works consistently. After trying probably 10-15 brands of flea and tick stuff for my Dogs this is the company I come back to. Ive tried expensive stuff, Ive tried dirt cheap stuff. This works and works FAST. I actually have to put my dogs out if they have fleas on them at all. Within 30 minutes they are jumping off to get away and die. Weve had issues with super fleas here in northeast USA where the only thing Ive found to work is old fashion dawn dish soap and salt.Ive literally spread salt on all my floors so it looks like snow and left it sit over night then vacuum it up and then mop with dawn dish soap, everyday for over a week straight. This works well. It is non greasy and doesn't have a funky smell like some other topical flea meds. The problem with topical is that sometimes they stop working . Therefore you switch to the other brand . But so far I have not had to switch. It definitely works well and recommend to many people.deb.n

Fortunately, We’ve not been in an area where fleas are out of control outside, as we have had problems in the past with other pets. These types of topical medicines would only be effective for a maximum of 1 1/2 to 2 weeks at best. And then our previous dog, and coincidentally our cat also, developed tumors where these types of medicines were being applied. I can’t say for certain that they were the cause. But it’s very suspicious that it happened in both animals. The dog we noticed first. And maybe a year or so later our cat. They both lived to past 11 years. And our dog was also on meds for epilepsy. Only briefly because he would spit out the meds no matter how clever I thought I was in hiding them. So, since he refused to take them, I stopped trying to make him. His grand mal seizures were frequent and long lasting. But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. I bought this one day on the recommendation of the pet store clerk. What I liked is that it was easy to apply, and it work quickly and efficiently , neither of my dogs had any type of negative side effects, there was no redness or scaliness or itchiness at the point of the application, and less than 36 hours all fleas were sufficiently gone. I am finding Bravecto to be 100% effective at killing ticks before they suck blood, even before they attach. I know it's working because I'm brushing dead (flat) ticks out of my dogs' fur. When I used Frontline and Advantix I was constantly picking engorged ticks from my dogs. Maybe the ticks would have died EVENTUALLY, but they were having quite a ride in the meantime, and dogs were getting itchy, unpleasant wounds. They downside of Bravecto: Theoretically, if your dog has a bad reaction to it, you can't wash it off, like you could with the topical formulas. I have 3 dogs and none of them had any reaction at all, so I haven't faced that problem. We live in an area with lots of ticks and a very high incidence of Lyme disease, so I am willing to take the risk. So far so good!doghairstew

My 3 cats came down with fleas. We believe it was our adopted outdoor cat. Anyway, our other adopted cat has flea dermatitis and was breaking out in horrific sores as well as losing fur and being miserable. Our 3rd cat we are fostering for a friend and ended up losing fur too. We tried Diatomaceous Earth which controlled it, but no elimination. We finally ordered Capstar as a last ditch resort. So glad we did. Within 30min all 3 cats had immediate relief. We even picked up a few fleas who had fallen over dead. No adverse reactions in any of the cats to the medication. 4 days later…The dermatitis has cleared up in both cats. The outdoor cat had tapeworm I guess too, because those came running out his back end. Doing a second dose in a few days time. My boxer loves everyone, including local friendly feral cats that sneak into her outdoor bed while she’s in at night. She would constantly get fleas and even worse were the sand fleas. The Capstar seems to be doing the job and her backside is looking better. Since I can’t pet or bathe the feral strays, I dosed some mackerel and they seem to be itching and scratching much less too. I dosed everyone again two weeks later and now just once a month. The Capstar seems to be keeping the fleas all under control. We have 4 dogs and live in the country near the state line of Alabama and Tennessee. Our dogs have about an acre of fenced in land to roam free. Now mind you, the fleas were super bad this year. So we thought we'd give this pill at least two months of dosages to give it a chance. I feel so bad for one of our dogs. We went to bathe him only maybe a week after giving him a SECOND dose in about a week span (small breed, but heavier in size, about 25lbs) he had SOOOOOOO many fleas. I've used this product for almost 3 weeks. And she's got more fleas now than she did to begin with. I gave her a bath and there were what looked like hundreds of fleas in the water. While she was in the water I picked quite a few off of her by hand. Two or three times a week, I get her down and pick them off. It says this product repels, but it really seems like it attracts them! She scratches all the time! And has running sores. I sure hope this stuff is guaranteed!!! Do not give to small dogs especially non spayed females In 2020 gave our 2 small dogs flea away within a month the smallest dog developed swelling and lumps in her mamory gland which quickly developed into cancerous tumor she died within 2mos. The other dog developed the same swelling but it progressed very slowly she now has the same type of growth on her we don't know how long she will live. It can't just be a coincidence.Gayle Erickson

These did not help my dogs when it came to ticks. My dogs live on our farm, so we have no fleas. They were already on a monthly prescription heartworm medication, and have always tested negative. To be fair, I cannot say whether or not this product was helpful for mosquitoes. I cannot say I do, or do not, recommend due to my experience.Deborah

First, let me state that I was unsure of this product before it arrived, not only because of the amazing price but because I've tried many different flea pills, chews and the liquid forms and none of them seemed to help at all. I have three large dogs and bought a bottle of 30 chews, geared towards smaller to medium size dogs, for around $29 and some change. Normally even after a bath, once my Dogs go outside, fleas are going to jump all over them. We've treated our yard but not only are there many strays in the area, not all of our neighbors treat their dogs or yards. I have given them each 1 chew daily since I got the first bottle, almost on the second bottle now and not one flea has been found alive on them! And very few dead ones, that we've found on their coats. No side effects so far (thankfully) and seemingly this product works extremely well, in my opinion. I used this product this last season for my dog and he never got flees. I feel so much better using natural stuff than chemicals on him. It was very affordable. It has a very strong scent at first but the scent does lighten up after a day or two. I would recommend this to anyone with dogs.katrina .s

I am not someone who takes my dogs health lightly. I try to use natural products as much as possible. We had a tick outbreak and everything I tried did not work. I bought these drops for all the dogs. Put it on. Took about 3 days to completely soak into the coat but ticks have been unable to attach which is great. Over the last few days there have been less and less. These drops along with Diatomaceous Earth spread around the corners of the house and all the beds is doing the trick. I bought this product earlier this week. I read the instructions and made sure that my dog met the weight requirements for the product. It worked the first day. She stopped itching and biting. I was on frontline for years but when I thought I saw a couple fleas on my dogs in September 2020, I decided to make a switch to Advantage II for my cats and Advantix II for my dogs— BIGGEST mistake of my life (seriously, like over any horrible exes). I have $515.97 in receipts I submitted to the company (which was as horrible as the experience, which I will get to) and spent an additional $70 in store (in which I cannot find the receipt) since September 2020 to December. I followed every tip on the website and insert and my animals were still covered. I applied perfectly. I applied initially weekly, vacuum daily, steam cleaned, wash bedding constantly, etc. I don’t even have carpet but on the stairs and have treated the stairs and couches with Predcor. I even bought those flea traps with the sticky bottoms. I am not including any of this in that total I spent– that was all on the flea medications themselves for the 6 animals. I have saved some, not all, of the vials so on 11/13 I called Elanco. They denied my request for any type of refund. They questioned my exact dosage dates and frequency more than a doctor wants to know about your menstrual cycles but I took my best guesses, for all 6 animals although I did know what schedule they were on but didn't have it in front of me. Then they said that the product was probably not working because I bathed my dogs initially at the beginning 48 hours before application?? Their website TELLS you to bathe them before application (see 2nd screenshot posted)! I stopped bathing them after the 2nd application as it wasn't working and the dogs were miserable and only tried 2 cats (and really only 1 successfully because we all know how that goes). They then told me that I didn't give the product long enough?? Their website states (see 3rd screenshot) and is the same for Advantage II "K9 Advantix® II kills fleas within 12 hours. New fleas that jump on the dog from the surroundings, such as grass, carpet and pet bedding, are killed within 2 hours with protection against further infestation for at least 4 weeks." I tried their products, $600 worth on 6 animals, as scheduled, no missed doses for 4 months. I can’t blame it on just one animal or one batch—it didn’t work on 6, or one batch! I am very upset. Not only have I wasted money on these but I have bought corresponding products, sprays for the beddings, flea traps, etc. I FINALLY called Terminex and had to spend 12 hours clearing out under my beds, closets, getting everything off my floors, moving furniture etc. (time I will never get back) and getting my children and pets out of the house and went back to the brand that works: FRONTLINE! NO MORE FLEAS– what I should have done in the first place. We bought Advantix liquid application anti-flea and tick treatment because it is effective, was less expensive and did not require a prescription. We had easily and successfully used liquid Advantix for years with our Plott hound mix. We now have a beagle. Beagle hair is different; it's thick, coarse, oily, kind of water proof and difficult to part in order to properly apply the liquid to the skin. Advantix is a very good product, but pet owners may want to assess their pet's coat to determine how the liquid application could be applied.Gary

My dog was getting ticks so I purchased this. I have used it in the past with great success when it had the Bayer logo on it . The one I received has the Elanco brand logo on it. I used 1 bottle and It was like I used nothing at all. Mind you I walk my dog and when he comes in the house I would find 2 or 3 live ticks walking on him. So I figured ok maybe it didnt work or I didnt wait long enough. After about 10 days of this I applied another bottle and again nothing. He still kept coming in the house with ticks every time. So I'm not sure exactly what's going on but the package I received appeared to be authentic. All serial numbers matched and packages were sealed well. I've sued this for years on our tiny poodles and it works great. They never get fleas, never get sicks from use. The only draw back it the dog smells for about 24 hours. You might not want to pet them agressively during that time.Oregon2017

But, he just got better at spitting out the pills, even if I shoved them down his throat. i have only had to use these topicals a few times in our current dogs short life, so far. And it seemed to work fine and for as long as it said it was supposed to work. And when she or we seem a bit more itchy, I apply it again, and wait until it’s “needed”, again- as opposed to routinely scheduled once every month. And in my opinion, it works better than capstar, which is meant as a short acting topical to immediately relieve a flea problem getting out of control. But for whatever reason, this works better for us, even though it might take a few days to really notice results. (I never really noticed immediate results with. Capstar. It helped make the problem not get any worse. But it didn’t solve the problem either.)shelly.c

I absolutely loved this for my fur babies! What I DID NOT love was that like this past year, flea/tick season was so weird! Twice I found LIVE TICKS on me, after loving up on my baby boy, Lizard. (Male black n white cat) He is an indoor/outdoor baby, but I haven't ever had a problem like this until now. Worth mentioning, my female brindle colored cat also had irritation from this year's applications. She has to have prednisone each day, along with a topical treatment, otherwise she's in agony from inflammation and itching! I am NOT stating that it was the fault of this brand. I have no proof of that. I just wanted to make others aware that these things happened after the dosing though.pamela.g

Don't really know what changes was done to the formula . But Advantage 2 works no where near as good as it as the original formula . My cat(s) for years have always been an inside cat & used it for years with great success. I recently adopted a cat & started using Adtg.2. A week to a week & a half is about tops before you start to see your cat start scratching again. Not good especially for what they charge for the stuff. Another example of "don't fix it if it ain't broke". But I guess the all mighty dollar took care of that. Next time I take my cat to the vet I'll ask about other options. I first started using Vectra 3D (the one that goes up to 20lbs) in 2015 or 2016 as it was vet recommended. I used to use Frontline but my dogs would still get ticks w/ Frontline. It got to a point where i had a couple vet visits a month just to remove a tick. My dogs are mostly indoor dogs and i live in the country. My house is clean. My dogs would pick up the ticks from when i’d walk them on the road nearby. Let’s just say i’m experienced w/ tick removal now. My vet recommended it to me and he carried it. When i started using it back then, both my dogs NEVER had a tick again! I even tested to see how good it was, walking them in areas i wouldn’t normally allow them to go into, like high grass. Result – still no ticks. They’ve never had fleas or heart worm – knock on wood. It has been the best and most effective treatment i’ve ever used and i have never used nor wanted to use anything else. I ended up having to switch vets and the vet i’m with now doesn’t offer it. I’m glad to be able to get it off 1800petmeds and at a great price too. The vets aren’t exactly cheap w/ vectra but it’s worth the cost if it keeps the nasty critters off your dog and your pocket book from a vet visit. Applied the application on my dog. Within 20 minutes started acting abnormal. Started running around and jerking his hind legs drinking a lot of water. After 1 and half hours I put him a bath to wash off product. Helplessly watching my poor dog not knowing what else to do. Don’t use product!! Shame on my vet to sale this product. My dog is a part of our family. I wouldn’t add a star !Michelle

I'm not sure why we continued to use this product for so long. We apply and still frequently find ticks on our dogs. Contacted Vectra and their response was well if you hadn't used it you would have found even more ticks. Would rather pay less and get the same result from another brand. Side note: this medicine left a permanent stain on our leather couch.Hamilton

I've used it on my 5 dogs for 4 yrs now & never have a single flea! This is in Georgia where we have fleas Mar-Nov!brvgrl

Just started my little dog on these chews and so far so good. she enjoys eating them, which is a plus. Hopefully the fleas will go away.Margret K.
