Dog Door Electronic Collar For Sale (2024 Update)

After reading all of the reviews, the VERY common problem is the hinge. This is going to be my 3rd or 4th door and second to purchase (the sizable hole is hard to find a replacement for), most EVERYONE has had the exact same broken and weak point of the hinge. Some of these comments are from long enough ago, you would think that the company would look at the common problems and try and fix the issue. But they seemingly have yet to make an attempt to fix the common and perpetual problem of the hinge!!! GUYS COME ON!!!!!!!! Not adding a photo, there are plenty of them on here already.Isaac09

I've had this door for a year now, and after a year of modifying, and remodifying, I give. Simply not a great door for strong dogs. Our doberman broke the door out initially, it was put back in place. The 2nd time he broke it out some of the plastic fasteners broke off. My SO ended up modifying the door with an aluminum strip and all new hardware. It's been broken off several times even with the new modifications. The key backs fall off and we didn't end up using them anyways to begin with. The frame is solid, we got the wall kit which is flimsy and had to seal ourselves but nonetheless it's installed. I'd love to order another model that will fit the already permanent opening. As of current, our heat's turned off until we figure out what to do to fix the door. It's not strong enough for large dogs, they bust it right out!Bunnyfromdahood

Purchased the door about a month ago. We have 4 dogs ranging in size from 6.5 lb to 60 lb. All of them use the door even the little guy. The big dog did not need any training at all he instinctively new when it went click he could go! I was concerned about the reviews but it seemed to me that these were all very large dogs by height and the photos of the installs seemed low to me. I would recommend the product. No more getting up two or three times a night. YAAA I installed it myself, granted I am more of a handyman than most, but I am also over the 65 mark +. So I would expect the young bucks to do it even faster. But you do need to have a supply of the D cells. Batteries are not what they used to be and you only get about a month or a little less use. Dog loves it but presentation is misleading. It does not show that it needs to be plugged into a power supply or you need to purchase an additional battery pack. But after spending the additional hundred dollars for the battery pack it allows the dog to easily go in and out, but remember to change the battery out every two weeks or the dog will get locked outside in the middle of the nightCelestecatcrazy

Learn from my mistake and run far away!!! This door was somewhat convenient when first installed, but I quickly found that the transmitter didn't always work, which left my dog inside or outside at times. However, with the first hard rain, this door became a disaster. The door flap leaked water all over my floor, both under the flap and down through the body of the dog door. I didn't discover the flooding until a large puddle had developed, warping and splintering my hardwood. I spent two hours on my knees mopping with towels and trying to seal things with duct tape as the rain continued to flood in under the flap opening. When I called the company, I was told that, since the door had been purchased over 90 days prior, that "the credit card company won't let us do a refund so we can't" (obvious untruth) and that the owner would only let me return it for store credit. They had no interest in finding out what the problem/defect was and trying to cure it or change it so as not to do this to other consumers. I'm was already out the cost of the purchase, hiring a contractor, and having it installed, and now I have to buy a new door and have it put in, as well as repairing my cupped, splintering flooring. Do they really think I'd want to have store credit to buy another one? This failed experiment has cost me well over $1000 so far. I'd suggest avoiding any of this company's products, and particularly this one.BusyBadgerMom

The door itself works great and at first all was good. Unfortunately the door only works with the collar which is junk and even after you buy their expensive batteries will not work because it is junk. Honestly the first time your dog gets the collar a little wet, for example running through sprinklers it will stop working. Do not buy.aaron.brown03

The SureFlap door uses a microchip to activate the cat door. My cat has always had a cat door but used to wear a magnet on his collar that would activate the door. Now I don't have to worry if he loses his collar because he can still get in. Very easy to program. Just push one button and the next cat (or dog) to walk through the door is recorded for the door. The door also has a curfew setting. This was gold to me. I had been paying a cat sitter $10 a day to open and close the cat door any day I was gone. Easily set time it opens or locks for the night. If locked, the cat can still enter, just not leave.Valski

Installation was a breeze as I replaced a manual cat door to this microchip controlled large cat door. My cats use a regular cat door so switching to this new door was really easy for them and the controls made it easy for me. Two cats have microchips implanted and the third uses the collar type and the Sure Flap Microchip LARGE Door works seamlessly for all. I used the unlocked mode till all three cats used the door than set it for ID registrations till all three had been through and registered. After this I set it for 10 second delay, then 2 second delay and now no delay. What an excellent quality door and so easy to program. I recommend the large door as I have a 15 lb., a 12 lb. and a 5 lb. cat and it works great for all of them.barbsmh

The Sureflap is a great product, easy to install and by following the setup guide, quite easy to program. It has stoped the neighbors stray cat from making itself at home stealing our own cats food and the fights when it would just come inside. My only problem is to somehow get our own pet cat to want to use it. Seems to be quite stuborn and will not exert enough nose pressure on the flap to overcome the magnetic latch. I may need to carefully dismantle the unit to remove the magnet and then see what happens. I would definitely recomend this product to anyone who wants to have control over both movements of not only their own cat but anyone elses as well.Graham

My dog adjusted to this door immediately. No imposing flaps to push through, just a panel that raises to let the dog out and in. This product has significantly reduced the stress on our family caused by a terrier that simply loves to go in and out all day. It works perfectly and is a godsend. It is secure and only permits passage for the dog with the special collar, no other animals or vermin.littlemare2009

We have a seven month old puppy with tiny bladder syndrome so she needs to go outside frequently. However, we also have two cats with feline leukemia and they must stay inside. We ordered this door and it arrived quickly. It took a few hours to install it in the porch wall, mostly time consuming because of the type of wall we had. Once it was in, it only took a couple of days to teach the pup to use it. It’s not very loud so that is good. The delay between the time the dog approaches the door and the time it opens is fairly quick. We were a bit worried that the male cat (who wants to be the man about town) would follow the dog out because the delay from the time the dog goes out and the door shuts seems rather long. However, the cat realized pretty quickly that he couldn’t get outside by himself so he lost interest in trying after a couple of days. We are quite pleased with the dog door. The only problem we had is the collar that the sensor is on. It didn’t stay snug around her neck so she managed to take it off and chew up the sensor. We are ordering a new sensor and I am going to sew it directly onto her regular collar and hope that will fix the problem. Other than that, it is working well and we are quite happy with this purchase.dseastrider

Faulty flap it sticks on one side. Cats unable to exit It was fitted professionally at personal cost to ensure done correctly. But cats cannot exit as the door has to be forced open on one side. So this defeats the usage as intended. Complaints to Pet safe helpline have ensued, but it is very distressing . The Hub control works when door opening has been achievedamb-1879

I have a pup that is a large breed, he looks like I been feeding him steak and potatoes cause he's so dang big. He is ALL puppy though. Chews on everything loves running around like a chicken with its head cut off. Been trying to train him to chill with me, yeah, right. He wants to play. And because he wants to play, he wants to run every stinkin where. Decided, for my sanity as well as his safety, I'd get this thing. Put the flags out, set it on a low static charge, and it didn't take long before he figured it out. You DO have to WORK a dog with this. It's not just a plug it up and watch their hair shoot up when they get popped. Walked him around the perimeter for 7 days, he sees and sniffs the flags. After that, I let him run around, and he got popped maybe 3 times, and figured it out. Now he's pretty dang happy, and I can let him rip around with zoomies while I work in the yard. I have a 2 yr old LARGE French Mastiff that weighs 180ish! I bought with the (red in color) “stubborn” collar. We previously installed a wired underground fence. (Which I have to mention took 2 FULL DAYS TO INSTALL AND READY TO USE!!) My Bo would realize he was close to the boundary, take a step or two back then take a run right through it, with no second thought!!! We watched him do this several times. I guess he was thinking, well this is going to hurt but only for a few short seconds. Idk?? But it did NOT phase him one bit! I had talked to 4 or 5 people that had this system, so reluctantly I decided to give it a try. I thought to myself well if it doesn’t work I will simply return it, no harm no foul. My boyfriend had it installed and collar on Bo in 30 mins flat. We walked ole hard-headed Bo around maybe 4 times to show him the boundaries. Once he heard the beeping, he kept walking then he felt the shock 1 time and that must have been enough because he never ventured close again! It has been about 2 months of use and I would give it 100 STARS IF IT WAS AN OPTION! We live in a subdivision where houses are fairly close. I was ultimately worried that the zone would lead into the neighboring yard. (which was the #1 thing we are trying to prevent) And although it may, Bo doesn’t even attempt to go that far. I believe he now understands to stay in his own yard! Living in a subdivision, many people take walks and Bo just sits and watches them now!! Matter of fact, just to see, we have sent him outside WITHOUT the collar and ironically enough HE STAYS IN OUR YARD!! The ONLY complaint I have is the small clear piece on the collar broke off the first time I went to adjust the strength of the shock. So far it hasn’t effected anything so fingers crossed on that! Just an FYI, we set ours on a level 3 to begin with and my boyfriend was ready to give up, so I told him to have some patience and we just kept adjusting the level on the collar and we ended up discovering for Bo he needed to be set on a #6. Again, I repeat he weighs 180 lbs, and the Mastiff bread is KNOWN for their stubbornness. I would suggest starting at the lowest level for a smaller dog PLEASE! But, if you are hesitant as myself, about this system just give it a try AND I PROMISE YOU WILL BE SO SURPRISED!!!!! I love this system, and just hope that it lasts!!!!!!Owner of French Mastiff

The unit does work, but when the door is initially opened it kicks the opening side of the door up which forces the other side down, causing the teeth to not grab correctly which then makes a grinding noise. I'm afraid this will damage the teeth over time. Right now I have 5lb weight hanging from the door handle which prevents the kick up so it works the way it is intended. Will have to try to find a more permanent solution.Scott S.

The motor was not securely connected to the frame. The motor seems to struggle at times opening the door. When it works it's great! – which is most of the time. My dogs and wife love it.Ed p.

I bought it on line with a few hesitations. It is the only viable option for us with 2 greyhounds that won't use a traditional dog door. It arrived quickly but unfortunately without instructions for the Rfid tags. I installed it using the video supplied which got the basics working. It occasionally struggled to close the door. It took a bit to get to talk to someone (possibly due to covid) but once I could talk to Roger he identified the problem over the phone which I then quickly solved. Although it passed the friction test it needed new rollers on the door. Roger also emailed me the Rfid instructions and now everything works very well. It is worth persevering.Harry V.

Thus far, the unit is operating mostly well. The Snap Shut feature is unusable however. When that is selected, the motor doesn’t shut off allowing the gear to slip and grind over the track. Installation instructions/videos not helpful also.Randy B.

Originally I had a regular pet door but we also have cats that were getting out. I changed to the auto slide and located at a different door. Now the dog can get out with the cats safely secured. Also I have our main sliding door available again.Joshua T.

This really is a tremendously different product. 127 settings seemed overwhelming to me. As I use this more and more as I train my dog, I’m able to see what that really means. In the past, collars I’ve used only had a few settings, so moving up or down a notch so to say was a dramatic difference, while the dogtra allows me to fine tune the stim very minimally until I find my dogs “number” for the variety of situations. I feel this is really helping the bond with my dog and therefore training is improved.MountainGSD

I bought the Dogtra 280C to use with my very active and agile 1 year old Toy Austrailian Sheppard for stopping unwanted behaviors like digging up my lawn and attacking the cat. The transmitter and receiver both hold charges for days, and easily sync by just holding the two units next to one another at the red dots for a second. The 1/2 mile range is more than enough to reach out and touch her for a friendly reminder to come in for supper. The LCD screen is super nice to see stimulation level at night or when I don't have my glasses with me. My girlfriend owns my dogs twin brother, he also needed corrective training, therefor being as pleased as I am with the performance of my Dogtra 280C, I couldn't help but buy one for her to use with him as well.Red Dogg 47

Product initially worked well. Combination of tone, vibration, and shock works well for training. My golden retriever responded well. Unfortunately the second time I went to charge the collar, the connection between the collar and the charger would not make contact. I chatted with cabelas and asked if they could send me a new charger dongle and they said I wanted that option I would need to work directly with Garmin. They gave me the option to return by mail, but I didn't want to be without the collar for that long. Instead I drove to the store to exchange it but they did not have the model available in the store. I returned it at the store and ordered a replacement on line. Once the replacement arrives, I am hoping I just got a lemon.Renegade08

I bought this collar about a year ago, and it is still just as effective and powerful today. This has all of the capabilities I need for training and enjoying my time with my dog. With the multi-collar functionality, it’s also great for people who own multiple dogs as you would just need a new collar and program it to a different color code switch. My dog can go swimming, get dirty, muddy, get hosed off, and the collar still works like a charm. I am extremely impressed. The handheld remote also floats (I fell into the lake once with it, and it floated just fine) For anyone looking for a durable and functional collar that will last forever, this is it.Skeet999

We bought this a couple months ago! Best investment we ever made! Our dog doesn't like the neighbours dog and would bark like crazy every time he was out in the yard. put the ecollar on him and only had to use the shock button a couple times and it stopped the bad behaviour in its tracks! Love it! The only thing I noticed was the collar became unpaired from the remote after we took him to the lake to swim. But it was very easy to pair up again, just by reading the instructions in the manual. Very happy with this purchase.jackflash72

We have a golden retriever that we have tried to train, but unfortunately she remains completely out of control. We decided to try a chock collar as a last resort and decided on this one because the specs seemed really good for the price. It has worked so great. We are still in the process of training, but having this reinforces what we are teaching her and we are finally seeing progress! We are planning on getting a second dog when we are feeling like we have this one under control, so having two separate shock collars that can both be controlled by one remote will be really convenient! absolute junk! I domt know how they claim this is water proof when tape is used on the connection board inside the housing of the collar. I have no idea what it was securing, but I suspect it had something to do with when the unit is being charged. I have 2 chihuahua's and even at level 30 they didn't respond. I only used it for a short while and put it away for winter. When I tried to use it again just recently in the spring I discovered the units didn't work. I guess the scotch tape lost its adhesiveness I bought a pet safe system and level one gave me the result I needed.martha

This really worked awesome. I have a 3 year old golden retriever who constantly barked all day and night. Neighbors called animal control about the barking and they came to our home and warned us. Then a week or two later that neighbor came over and knocked at the door. Said his family was up all night because of the barking.. our dog barked at anything and went ballistic when spotting another dog or cat… We thought there was no hope. So we bought this collar and within two days (using the vibration ~ Not shock) he has completely stopped barking. It has been amazing. I would recommend this to anyone having similar problems. Have bought two collars for two separate uses the 1900S and YS600 both are working perfectly for their intended purposes, the 1900S I love the way the remote allows greater control so the action can be more closly aligned with the action you want to correct without the harassment of searching for the controller and the button, better for me and better for the dog.Michael F.

This my 2nd Dogtra collar setup, and this one feels far bette in quality. The collar does sit a little tighter on the dog's neck, so I go one notch loser than normal. Remote feels a lot better than past one. Smaller tighter feel, and cleaner touch effect.swingboy01

This is an AWESOME dog door solution. We purchased ours in 2011 and it works great. INSTALLATION: I’m not handy so we had a carpenter install the door. It wasn’t a problem for him. We live in an old house so rather than cut the original 1920 door, we bought a door from Home Depot. TRAINING OUR DOGS:: It didn’t take long for our dog to learn how to exit the house and reenter the house. WHY I LIKE IT; Versus a flappy cheap plastic door…this has two major advantages (1). More secure. For a large door, a flappy door can be easily broken into (just crawl in!) where this door would require force and would set up an alarm, and (2). Very weatherproof. The seal is tight, so hot air (summer) and cold air (winter) doesn’t continuously lead in. So there is a comfort and a cost savings factor. DURABILITY: In 7 years (Our dog uses the door about 5x a day, so that is about 13,000 up/downs!) we have had 3 issues. The incredible customer service person (Deidre, who has worked there for about 20 years) is extremely knowledgeable. She walked us through one problem in less that 5 minutes. She helped us fix another problem which took about 20 minutes. My wife and I used to work at Purina for 17 years and 12 years respectively, so we know alot about dogs and cats. Our jusdgement is this door, although costly up front, is very well worth it. I've tried several of these collars but my main issue has always been that they would need batteries every few days and the batteries were really expensive. This one is rechargeable – both the collar and the remote. I also love that it has the vibration feature so I can warn my dog before I actually have to "shock" her. So far since we've had it, she's only been shocked twice. She is a completely changed dog. We went from a dog who jumped up on me when I came in the house, barked at every person walking by and chased the cats incessantly to a very well behaved dog who now does none of those things. We rarely ever even have to use the stimulation. The product seems very sturdy and the remote is very colorful and bigger than most others so it never gets lost. It has a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck but that is somewhat awkward for me. I think that would be very useful when bringing her out in the public which is our next adventure.MichiganDogLover

Most helpful concepts: learn and teach place command (this will change your life and I’m not exaggerating), making yourself he leader through your dog’s eyes, and what a balanced dog’s life can look like. I almost had to relinquish my dog because he never turned off, was child aggressive, and I learned that I had to change how I ran my ship. It’s a life changer. We wanted to keep out new kitten inside whilst allowing our existing pets (2 small dogs and older cat) to come and go. Unfortunately, this product is virtually useless- will allow any animal to exit, schedule must be the same for all pets (not good when you have a dog who needs the loo throughout the night?), and if you have to override on the door itself, you have to reimpose the curfews through the app manually. Such a shame, as this product had so much potential, but falls so far short.Minnie

Works fine with the collar tag. My cat not microchipped. He is a big cat but can get throught ok. Standard cat door too small. Have it fitted to an insect proofed cage so he can feed outside ( no i door smell)with no other cat or anything else steeling itWendy B.
