I had been referred to Cosequin's powder made for horses some time back for an old Basset with a bad back and had always given it to all my bigger, older dogs but the big containers are big and expensive (because they're intended for horses) and I'm down to just one dog that needs it so when I ran out I tired a different Glucosamine supplement which was an utter failure for my big, old guy. Within just one month of that supplement he was struggling to get up from the floor and falling UP the stairs… (I know, he should not be on the stairs anymore, but try and tell him that…) I moved to these tablets (which are made by the same company as the horse powder) and he was immediately back to normal! I have looked at many different joint supplements for dogs, and what I have noticed is that most of them are lower mg per tablet/chew than Cosequin. You really get the bang for your buck on this product and it seems to be of high quality – plus it really works! I have a 15 year old blue heeler thats rounded up a lot of cattle in her day. I noticed she wasnt getting around as well in her old age so I started this product. It takes about 4-6 weeks to start working, but when it does watch out! The only down side is that she started chasing moving vehicles again and the irrigation guy ran over her front leg with a dirtbike so I had to get a cast put on. She healed up nicely though and is just fine now, so the story ends well. Bottom line, I definitely know this worked well for her and greatly improved her quality of life in her old age. There chewables are amazing! I have a Golden with bad joints and she's a wee bit on the heavy side LOL. She couldn't walk more than a couple blocks before wanting to lay down or me having to literally tug her along. NOW. Totally different dog. My dog broke his back just behind his front legs. We opted for home care and eventually chiropractic. The chiropractor recommended Pain Plus. My Jack doesn't mind taking them…BUT…he chooses the dosage! When I see him being stiff I offer a whole one and if he doesn't take it, I break it in half and offer him half. I read all of the reviews so I decided to give it a try for my 10 year old Pitt Bull. He wasn’t his spunky self for 2 months. He was slow getting up even for his treats. Bought this yesterday for my 6 year old maltipoo because he has back pain from time to time due to ivdd. Vet wasn’t in and the hospital was booked. Emergency room costs a fortune. So with no prescription, I decided to give this a try. My lil fur baby was in so much pain, he was trembling and wouldn’t eat (understandably so). Our lab was taking shots at the vet monthly for joint pain that started around 13 years old, eventually they also prescribed pain pills to take as needed. She no longer needs the shots. Our vet suggested this product after her shots were not as effective, she was slow getting around. While this product is a bit expensive, as everything else is that my vet wants me to put my dog on, the product does help a lot. I can tell a difference between now and before my 11year old dachshund started this product. He is also taking Phycox with it for his joints. He was taking Phycox first, but it didn't help enough…maybe because of his age and problems worsening with age. He is walking better and sometimes runs around playing. He had a hard time going up and down steps outside to go potty. My vet wanted me to keep him from going up and down steps or jumping up or down on furniture. Dachshunds shouldn't be doing this anyways because of their predisposition to back and joint issues. I still try to keep him from going up or down steps, even though he is doing better. But, since taking this product, he doesn't always wait for me at bottom of steps to pick him up, as he used to do when in more pain. She eats it right up. They are heavy dogs but I have only been pumping one pump in their food for now, just to give their stomachs time to adjust. It is still too soon to tell if this product works but hopefully it does 🙂
This broth helps my 11 1/2 year old dog SO much, it is truly remarkable. He was struggling with arthritis in his back legs and the supplements suggested by the vet really did not help. I hate to give him carprofen or other medications due to the side effects or long term issues it can cause with organ damage and bleeding. After a few days of using this on his food, he was getting up without struggling and running around like a puppy. I have been using Dasuquin MSM in the hard pill form for over a year now for my almost 15 year old, 88 pound Airedale – Standard Poodle mix. I have been very impressed with the improved mobility my dog has/is experienced/ing. I decided to try the soft chew, but was a bit nervous given another reviewers comment that they were too large and his dog would not touch them. I called and spoke to 1-800-PETMEDS and the person I talked to told me that I could return the product for a full refund if my dog doesn't like them. So I decided to try. He loves them! I have been giving Nutramax Dauquin Soft Chews for Small Dogs to my 11 year old Maltese dog, Molly, for over 2 years. It has absolutely changed her life. I had been referred to Cosequin's powder made for horses some time back for an old Basset with a bad back and had always given it to all my bigger, older dogs but the big containers are big and expensive (because they're intended for horses) and I'm down to just one dog that needs it so when I ran out I tired a different Glucosamine supplement which was an utter failure for my big, old guy. Within just one month of that supplement he was struggling to get up from the floor and falling UP the stairs… (I know, he should not be on the stairs anymore, but try and tell him that…) I moved to these tablets (which are made by the same company as the horse powder) and he was immediately back to normal! I have looked at many different joint supplements for dogs, and what I have noticed is that most of them are lower mg per tablet/chew than Cosequin. You really get the bang for your buck on this product and it seems to be of high quality – plus it really works! I have a 15 year old blue heeler thats rounded up a lot of cattle in her day. I noticed she wasnt getting around as well in her old age so I started this product. It takes about 4-6 weeks to start working, but when it does watch out! The only down side is that she started chasing moving vehicles again and the irrigation guy ran over her front leg with a dirtbike so I had to get a cast put on. She healed up nicely though and is just fine now, so the story ends well. Bottom line, I definitely know this worked well for her and greatly improved her quality of life in her old age. There chewables are amazing! I have a Golden with bad joints and she's a wee bit on the heavy side LOL. She couldn't walk more than a couple blocks before wanting to lay down or me having to literally tug her along. NOW. Totally different dog. I have two 18 month old dogs they are Australian Shepherd and heeler mix and I have had them since they were 4 weeks old. My little girl recently started showing signs of hip issues and I was concerned enough to research options that are non surgical to see if it would help. I did worry because they are both very picky and have sensitive tummies. She absolutely loves these. (So she's her brother) They both know 1st thing in the AM it is time and will go sit at the counter waiting even before I get there. I have 2 senior cockapoos. One has IVDD (disc disease in his back) and the other has suffered with joint pain on and off in her paws, pretty much her whole life. Since taking this supplement, both dogs have shown improvement. The one with the joint problems in her paws has not limped at all since we started these a few years ago. My newf has had problems with her back legs for over a year now. On a Facebook group for Newfoundland dog owners someone suggested green lipped muscles as a supplement. Also ancient grains. Upon doing research I came across zesty paws. The products that this company offers has helped my newf, she is still stiff upon getting up but the limp is gone. I have been several kinds of pain medicine for my Golden and it only helped a little. My Golden is 13 and was overweight but not anymore. Her back legs would just give out randomly due to the fact that she has hip dysplasia. When she lost the weight the symptoms stayed so my vets recommended Quellin and it works like a charm! Though her back legs still gives now and then but the Quellin makes it possible for to get up faster and even run. With the Quellin she fall less and is more active. That is plus for me! My dog was around 10 years old when she started having trouble getting up and down the stairs of my condominium… she had been diagnosed with arthritis and had a bad acl on one knee. I have no big toe joints left in my feet. Other than surgery, which the doctor told me I would have done, there was nothing I could do about it. An older person told me about horse liniment and told me what to get. I can't thank them enough. I rub this in my toes every night and have not had any trouble with sleeping. My avid little mouser cat caught herself a little prize just a few days before a month-prior planned trip my husband and i were unavoidably about to go to. Apparently that mouse had bitten her back in the process, right on her tender little lip cleft! So we did the best we could with a dropper to feed and water her and rushed out to get Vetericyn to help stave off the infection which reduced the angry redness to a healthier pinkish. For the very few days we had before we had to go, I was keeping her hydrated and was spraying her face with the Vetericyn regularly (as directed) even as we headed out the door with one last treatment. We did cut our weekend trip short by a day out of concern for her, but when we came back she was doing significantly better in that the swelling was down, but was reddened again. Back to the spray treatment, make sure she got dropper-watered, and by that evening she was gingerly back to parking in her 'askance' spot hoping for bits of our chicken dinner! I fully believe that had we not gotten Vetericyn and treated her with it in the few days prior to leaving that we wouldn't still have her today. Using this for hot spots on my canine, this stuff does work but it sometimes can take up to 2 8oz. Bottles to heal the area's treated. Not sure if it's the strength of medicine or just those stubborn spots. I caught the spots early on and started treating them immediately and have been treating them for a month now and they are getting better but slowly, these things are stubborn. I can say that absolutely nothing else I tried worked. Believe it or not, I read online the other day that rubbing Pepto Bismol on hot spots actually works, you heard right, Pepto Bismol. I haven't had the nerve to try it as I thought it could just be some nut trying to infect your pet even worse. You just cannot trust anyone anymore, especially after what happened in 2020, if you know what I mean.bandit74
