I have been using these large Permate dog houses to house my Nigerian Dwarf goats for many years. They have made "affordable housing" for my goats. I will say that my bucks (boys) are much harder on the houses than the does (girls). Both genders jump on top, but the bucks crack the rain shield by jumping on top of the houses. This happens after a while, not right away. I don't blame the company that makes these because they are intended for dogs, not goats that love to climb! I do wish the tops would be stronger to prevent this problem from happening. Another area to improve design would be for the top to somehow lock on to the base. When my Great Pyrenees (GP) dog goes inside to lay down, the lid can lift/tilt off. The large size is not big enough for a GP. The price keeps going up, and I'm not pleased with having to pay more. I wait until the neighbor club coupon comes out to buy any needed replacement houses. Over the years I've bought countless Permate Large dog houses, so I know these pretty well! Looks very nice and hardy but it floods when it rains, I don't know how but the water gets inside and it is too much water. I put a crate pad inside for my outdoor cat to stay warm and went to check on my cat a few hours later after it rained, and the pad was soaking wet not to mention the house was full of water more water than what was outside . The dog house comes in two parts – top and bottom. They do not snap together; the top merely sits on the bottom. No hardware is provided to attach the two and even if there was there are no holes through which one would thread screws or bolts (or whatever) to keep the dog house together. I use these for my goats because these houses are inexpensive but the goats knowingly and regularly have fun pushing up on the exit/entrance hole to "break" the house into two pieces. Yes, I laugh at their antics but I still plan to drill holes and use nuts/bolts to keep the top and bottom together.L McGaffey

I got this recently on a great sale price… it was half the cost of another dog house that I bought (and returned). The one I ended up returning was designed as an actual house, but cost $100 and the plastic was very flimsy… I felt it wasn't worth the price, and my dog never liked it. I looked online and saw this "dog house" (it's really a crate, IMO); and Petco had the least expensive price, at half the retail cost. I was also able to pick it up the same day at a local store, and received a further discount for picking it up at the store. There's only 2 pieces (a top and a bottom), and the top basically just sits on the bottom, with tabs that are supposed to hold it in place. It's not the most secure, but I don't see this being blown across the yard or anything. The plastic is heavy duty and sturdy… I mean sure, if you live in a tornado or hurricane area, then of course, yes, it'll get toss across the neighborhood; but otherwise, it should stay in place. Great for when you need to leave your pet outside for a while. It's very wide, but not very long though. My dog can curl up in here and he can fit, but he can not stretch out or lay out in this… which is fine, because dogs usually like sleeping curled up and they like snug fitting enclosures to sleep in. My standard size labradoodle fits into it. He uses it to sleep in. This is not something he can stand straight up in or something he can stretch out in… but for sleeping, he loves to curl up in it. I bought it for use outside during the winter or a rainy day, to get out of the cold or rain when I have to put him outside in the yard for a while. Got these doghouses as an outdoor reprieve from the elements for our 2 Huskies. They are very sturdy and made of solid hard plastic. They've managed to remain dry inside even in a couple of downpours and driving rain. The only time that wasn't the case is when I had one on an uneven patch of grass. So you definitely want to place it on a platform if there's no flat surface. Unfortunately our pups, house dogs that LOVE to go out and play, still haven't embraced the concept of having a private pad "outside." Other than that, it's easy to set up and clean. I like that you can open the one flap for easier play. This is very helpful for children with younger siblings that want to join in on the play. It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. These are nice dog houses. They are light weight & don't look like they are very warm, but they actually do a good job, my border collies like these a lot. I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I am buying a gallon of this today after having bought a spray bottle size of it from Pet Supermarket on the advice of one of their clerks when looking for something to deal with really pungent odor left by roof rat that found it's way into the basement. Yeesh. I sprayed the the concrete floor and wall really well where the smell was coming from and the smell was gone just as soon as the product dried. The clerk suggested this because it was to be used on concrete and I didn't want to have to go back in and scrub or rinse or brush or vacuum. It did the trick.I've also had many geriatric cats over the years and used various products for their messes and marking issues. All of the products I'd used worked pretty well but this has worked best of any of them.At present I have a 25 year old cat who is no longer able to use the litter box regularly so besides limiting his access to most of the house, I am using pee pads and this product to clear up urine and feces that don't make it to the box.I use it on ceramic tile floor and hardwood flooring sealed with an unknown sealer. The wood floor finish is no worse for the use (but I don't let the product sit on the wood for longer than it takes to spray and wipe up) and the tile takes it like a champ. I have gone back and dry polished the wood floor to bring the shine back up as the product leaves a bit of a residue but a buff with a regular clean shammy cloth quickly takes care of that.Periodically I am cleaning both types of flooring with appropriate methods and have had no "smell-through" or resurfacing stains.After 40-ish years of multiple cats and the one episode with the roof rat visit I am happy the rat came along or I would not have known this product worked so well.K. I’m never going back to natures miracle. This stuff really really works. I have been fostering for 12 years and it’s been a challenge to find something that completely gets rid of the smell of cat urine from soft surfaces. The smell is gone almost instantaneously. The best part about it is that there is no perfume that covers up the smell, so you can tell whether or not it is actually working. I’ve had as many as 14 in my house at a time and you cannot smell cat *at all*. I keep my house clean and this helped clean it to the next level. I have purchased both the gallon and the spray bottle. If you purchase the spray bottle, I’d advise you to put the liquid into another bottle as the skouts honor bottle is pretty terribly constructed to where the lid constantly falls off and it leaks. Some dogs just don't quite fit into the size charts in the way other dogs do. Our dog Angel, a mountain cur, is one of those dogs. Weight wise, Angel is comfortably in the medium category but she's tall and lanky so she always had to hunch over in her medium crate. This larger crate is a perfect height for the needed room. We bought this product mostly because of the vertical lift feature of the door hinge and the two-door access options which is great for all sorts of configurations (against different walls, corners etc). We like the size and customizable interior of the XL crate for our growing puppy (husky/shepard mix). This is definitely an at home crate vs. care crate. The only issue we have is that compared to our first crate (same company, large single door, 2 locks) is that this crate is very rattly. The crate had obviously been used and returned. The metal was rusted in places and the plastic bottom tray was dirty. When I decided to return it, It was a challenge to get it back in the box. When I took it back to the store, I asked about a discount and received 15% off (the tax). I had previously bought one that was marked down by 50% because the box was damaged. I was quite disappointed in the whole experience. Apparently the merchandise was supposed to be checked if the box was damaged and that wasn’t done in this case.Janice
I've owned dogs for the last 40 years. I've used MidWest wire crates for my last 4 dogs. This iCrate didn't disappoint. It's sturdy and and easy to put up and take down. I use them when I travel with my dogs too. My dogs only use their crates for sleeping in at night or napping in during the day. During the day, their crate doors are left open. I close the dogs in at night. I don't have an issue with my dogs trying to escape from their crates, so I can't speak to whether or not this would be sturdy enough for a dog that's determined to get out of their crate. These crates are more than sturdy enough for my miniature Schnauzer, Havanese, and Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. All three of my dogs love their MidWest iCrates, as did my previous dog! They go in them voluntarily and when told to "crate up". My only concern with the current crate I ordered is that that one of the latches isn't lined up quite right so it's a bit tight when closing the crate door. I bent it slightly and it works much better. I haven't had that issue with any of the previous MidWest crates I've used. I'm a MidWest crate fan.Eddie09
We bought this in April 2022 for our Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy. He was weeks old when we rescued him. He was a Parvo pup and barely survived, so rest and his own quiet space was highly recommended for recovery. We first used the divider which was great. However, as he grew, so did his strength. It definitely is not strong enough for large dogs. Even for short amounts of time. At the moment he is 6 months and 60 pounds. Thankfully he did not get out nor hurt himself! This was a great shampoo for my chihuahua. She has a skin condition and is constantly itching herself. I feel that it’s very gentle and doesn’t cause any buildup or irritation. I’ve been using this product for 5 months now and probably won’t switch up shampoos for her. The smell is so nice! It doesn’t have a strong odor and her reaction to it is pleasant. This is a very good company and they have good products for humans and pets. My dog, unfortunately, happens to have very dry sensitive itchy skin. Especially during flea season. Just one flea bite and it's off to the races. She has severe "flea bites venom" allergy. So flea season I have to be hyper vigilant with everything from yard, home, pet flea and tick treatment, and grooming. I purchased this one day because I know that oatmeal is very soothing to itchy dry skin. I have used regular oatmeal as a paste and as a bath/rinse with very good results. This shampoo smells good, it was a little higher priced but I was OK as long as the results were equal to the price point. Sadly, I was not impressed. In this case it was the name brand reputation was bigger than the results. while it did clean her fur thoroughly and nicely , she was scratching a lot within the first few hours after her bath. And she was properly rinsed. I spend triple the time rinsing.  I put her back in the shower and rinsed her with the homemade oatmeal bath that I use. Regular old-school oatmeal, mixed with water, and just use it as a soak/rinse. I also put in a few drops of high-quality Teatree oil, the mother of apple cider vinegar, and a cup of chamomile tea. that's my homemade treatment for itchy sensitive skin this shampoo, for the price, did not meet my expectations. I have gotten similar if not better results from shampoos that were 1 to 5 dollars a bottle. Keep in mind this is just my opinion and my results on my dog. If you are using it for a regular shampoo and not expecting treatment for itchy red skin, I believe you will be satisfied. fran.c
This is a great natural dog shampoo that i use on my dog regularly. I used to use a lot of product, like a quarter of the bottle every time I bathed my fur baby. I was told from my groomers to create a foam with some water and soap in a bottle and it makes the product lather better and uses so much less! My fur baby suffers from itchy skin and this shampoo seems to temporarily relieve that! I enjoy using this on my dog! This shampoo did not disappoint and I am happy with the results Im getting. I also like that Burt Bees doesn't have toxic chemicals in they're products which is what lead me to this purchase. I can often find it at Marshalls for a good price. It's very digestible. I especially like to serve it to my boys when their stomachs are upset. It seems to work as well as cooking up ground beef or turkey meat in a pan. It looks like the specialty food from blue buffalo they make for digestive problems but cheaper. I'm glad I found it. The other was super expensive and only made with chicken. We have been purchasing this food for our dog for about a year now. He was very sick for 9 months with sever coughing that was treated with multiple medications and multiple tests. After starting him on this food and no meds, his coughing improved greatly. It is believed that he has a food allergy and this food was finally the winner! We have purchased all the available cans in our area. We switched to the small breed about 5 days ago thinking it was similar and his coughing has gotten progressively worst. I purchased this dog food a month ago for my three senior dogs. Unfortunately, it's made them sick. At first they were eating it but after about a week, they started throwing up. I wasn't sure it was the dog food until I noticed they didn't want to touch their supper. So I changed everything and they went back to eating. I snuck a small spoonful into their supper again to be sure, and they got sick again and refused to eat. I had been rigging my dogs summer tent to shelter my stray cat..I fed her, so she’s mine lol…but it just wasn’t cutting it anymore and it is oddly cold this winter here in Alabama. This thing is so annoying. I purchased it for my daughter this morning (in store for $5 more, ugh) and have had to put that freaking door back on about 50 times already. I’ve had two of this exact model before (but blue) and enjoyed it, but I passed them to a rescue adoption family. (The kittens were trained with them so it seemed fitting). I automatically repurchased the same because they lasted 8 years already and still looked great. They’re well built but the handle is on the top door, press fit onto the wire. Therefore it flexes with heavier pets. You can’t move the handle elsewhere because then it wouldn’t be central for carrying and then it doesn’t lay flat so they can’t be stacked well for storage & transit. Lastly, the measurements are of the outer dimension. So if you look at the bubble-shape design in the photo, you can see the pet’s floor space is a little less than the overall outer dimension. That’s cozy for smaller pets and really helps it stay centered in a forward faced position (buckled-in) on car seat cushions. Unfortunately, my 12 year old fat cat is too big to lay out and turn around in the size I got. I returned it with no problems and will switch to a carrier with more cubical or straight upright wall design so my pet can make use of more of the whole dimension it takes up. These also have no quick releases, so when you put it together (top bolts onto bottom), it isn’t meant to be taken apart between trips. That’s okay for ready stored carriers, but I’d like to use one that makes an open bed when not on the move, and stacks tiny for storage otherwise. This carrier is also not rated for air travel, if that’s what you need. However if none of these little issues apply to you, I can definitely recommend this as I had two for over 8 years and they still look pretty new. They fit the cheap standard washable fuzzy beds from Menards and are very easy to clean & disinfect as well. (Don’t use bleach or alcohol on plastics. Use quaternary ammonium compounds for viruses and bacteria, or peroxide for pet parasites with cysts, like CDC says. Bleach and alcohol can etch plastics, making them fragile or brittle, and making surfaces more receptive to harboring various pathogens over time).
We where having a hard time getting our cat into our old kennel with just the front door, he does not like going into the kennel but we had to move and he had to go with us. This kennel with the top door worked perfect. This kennel is made very well and sturdy, my old kennel had clips holding it together that broke and fell off, this one has big screws that you hand tighten that look like they will last a while. My husband and I got a puppy from the pound. She was only 2 months old when we brought her home. Using this crate for the first year help us keep our home intact! she would only be put in the crate when we were gone, that way we knew she was safe and not getting into trouble chewing furniture or peeing in the house. those two door design is fantastic! I have two of this size (one door model). I have had these things for ohhh, 10 years…I raised three rotty's in them and kept various rescues of all animal kinds in them until I could get them off to rescue people over the years. They did duty in the barn area for poultry for most of the last 6 years and got messed on all over the place, were damp in the winter and were used like tables with a board on top. Ended up with another rescue that might stay…looked at em all poultry encrusted and dusty and cobwebby and shook my head thinking they're done. They have been through the wringer the last 6 years. I realized I really don't have the money to buy new so decided to try to clean them up as a futile attempt to not have to buy more. I had to at least try. 2 hours ,a bucket of warm soapy water, a scrubby , washcloth and a hose later…OMG. They cleaned up GREAT. The handles of the latches were slightly slightly rusty here or there where the black coating flaked off (about the only place it has flaked off and then only small spots), the metal tubes that connects the panels together a little dull, pitted and slightly rusty here or there and that is IT! They still work just fine and they look award winning good considering where they have been. If not for the latches and the connector pieces they could pass as gently used items despite what they have been through. So essentially, if you want a solid, quality crate that is priced reasonably and WORTH every darn penny….go with precision crates. One precision crate could very likely last you all of your adult life if you stayed with the same size dog. As it is now we have the two x lrgs, 1 mediumish, and 2 for 30 lbs or less dogs. And because I am so impressed with what I have,….I'm going to be buying this X-lrg 2 door version to fit in a spot where a single door crate won't work in my house. Remember- Don't throw away an extra crate that is in working order, donate it to someone who can't afford a crate or find a rescue group that needs it (crates are good for lots of different animals).Windchyme
