Blue Rubber Dog Toy For Sale (2024 Update)

All three of our very large doggies are infatuated with this toy and have been since it arrived three weeks ago. They each vie for it and will guard it carefully until the other two distract the current possessor and steal it. The obsessive circle continues. No idea why the extreme fascination with this particular toy as they have many, many other ones, some of which are similar to the Turnup. No matter, as I have ordered more Turnups and a couple of other similarly styled rubber toys from Ruffwear which are due to arrive in a few days. Should be interesting.Tim A.

It's much more fun than it looks like it will be. Our dog carries this thing around most of the day. She'll only let you throw it a couple of times before she has to lay down with it for a little gnaw session. The Turnip Rubber Throw Toy has been a daily part of our family's life for at least 3 years. We have a Mini Australian Shepherd definitely high energy. He is absolutely A Ruff Wear dog but his pet Mom is not. So his exercise is early morning walks and at least 2 hours of the mighty Turnip Toss everyday. This is our second Turnip the first one was lost in our back yard and has yet to be found. Strong and flexible and small enough to fit a medium size dog's mouth that is more narrow. We have tried Ruff' Wear's other rubber toys but they are just too large. This toy takes a lot of heavy chewing and has yet to show any signs of breaking down. Dog toys pile up from lack of use or thrown into the trash but The Mighty Turnip Survives and keeps our active pup happy and lean. My dog loves the way the Turnip bounces off the ground then he bumps it with the tip of his nose and makes it go higher sometimes even two bumps. Great fun for both of us.Michele D.

I got our first ball second hand, through a family friend. My dog absolutely loved it, but it was a bit too big for him. I got my puppy (now 1.5 yrs) a small and medium ball to see which size would be better. The medium is the perfect one! He enjoys playing with it every day! He loves it. It's his outdoor toy. He would go all day if we let him. We've had it for about 3 years now and it's pretty sun faded and has plenty of teeth marks in it. Also started developing a crack on the one hole, but otherwise its been incredibly durable. My partner can kick it hard across the yard in steel toes and it hasn't broken yet (that's probably what the crack is from). It has caused his gums to bleed a handful of times so maybe beware of that just because of the hard plastic if your pup is a tough chewer/biter, but otherwise my dog would literally kill for this toy. I read these other reviews where the dogs go wild for the toy! I have three dogs at home, and none were interested in this toy. They were excited until I threw the ball on the ground. They all took turns pawing at it, and within 45 seconds the dogs were playing with the old toys. The toy itself is built well. The plastic outer ball seems chew-resistant and the inner ball seems sturdy. There is no issue with the toy itself, but my dogs did not fit the status quo in enjoying this selection.KatieMD

My 2 year old lab mix loves this toy! He loves to chew and this is his favorite rubber toy! He plays with it daily and it keeps him entertained. He did chew the nubs off, but they all came off in big enough pieces that we just took them from him when we noticed he got them off. It has lasted since Christmas, so 7 months. I have a 12 month old golden puppy who is a very aggressive chewer! Her mission in life seems to be to destroy and eat toys. I've bought many toys supposedly tough enough to stand up to aggressive chewing that are in the trash because she has destroyed them. Sometimes within the first day of getting them. I love this toy so much for my pups I bought a second one. I have 4 labs, 2 of them are puppies. My pups have been chewing up our hose so I bought this as a positive diversion away from the hose and it has worked perfectly! My pups LOVE IT!! All 4 of them play with it and one of our pups always is playing with it. Our little pup Penny loves this ball! As soon as she sees her red ball she goes after it. She loves showing it off to all her friends and tries to get them to play with her. Our energetic 100lbs Lab/Great Dane mix destroys almost every toy we buy. He loves squishy things but they last 5 minutes and become a danger as he tears them apart. This summer the pet store recommended we give this a try promising it would last at least until the end of the year. We are now November and he plays with it all the time. He “punctured” it almost immediately after buying it but it always bounces back. I've tried a few treat dispensers (tumblers, wobblers, etc.) and this has been the best one for me by far. It's quiet on hard floors, it keeps the dogs occupied for a long time, gives them a good workout without winding them up into a frenzy, and it can hold a lot of kibble so you can use it for part of their regular meals. I use the large orange one for my Labrador and the smaller Purple one for my Jack Russell. The rubber is thick, but my Lab is pretty destructive and I have a feeling she could still ruin them if she were left alone with them all day, so I put them away once the dogs have finished eating.Mark

Very sturdy, like all Planet Dog products I have bought so far. One terrier tried to shred it immediately because he had no patience to work out how it works, but he failed. The second terrier had great fun to push it all over the place to get to the treats. Great toy especially for oldies during bad weather. My Standard Poodle loves this toy. The first three days she got it she would not let it go. I call it Wally gator. it is tough and rough. Most of the toys I give her I end up sewing them together. My dog destroys soft dog toys.. She first tears it to remove the squeaker.Then she tears off anything protruding from the toy (legs , tails, feet, ears). Then she starts with the stuffing. My dog Rye is an 80 lb Shepherd Cross. She is an avid stick retriever in any water location. Her favorite thing is to retrieve the stick, then settle down for a few minutes chew until she's ready for the next throw. I picked up one of these on a whim for an upcoming trip and it was probably the best toy we have ever purchased for our dog. She LOVES it. Our dog is moderately destructive to toys and a pretty big chewer, but this one is still going strong. She loves to play with it in the backyard and in the pool and it floats great (as long as the liner piece stays in). She also loves it for tug o' war and it has worked surprisingly well for that. The only detractor for me is the color – it's a beautiful shade of blue, but the same shade as our pool, so it's hard for her to see it if it isn't where she is expecting it to be. This has led to some anxiety for her thinking she's lost it, so I think 0a darker red or green, or even just a darker blue – something to have more contrast, would be preferable, but otherwise it's a total hit.halostrata13

From the moment Belle’s jive ball got here it’s been her go-to ball. Belle, who is a registered wrecking ball, destroys or eviscerates every toy (if you consider my Furnature a toy) we’ve introduced to her. Not the jive. I have an American Staffordshire Terrier and an American Pitbull Terrier. As other owners of these breeds can likely attest they can pretty much destroy anything short of steel and concrete. I purchased all sorts of toys for my pups and nothing lasted more than ten minutes before having to take it away and through it in the trash due to being torn to pieces or in the process of. I bought toys from Kong, Supper Chewer, Bully Make and others. Every toy except for the standard Kong Cone and a rubber soda can made it. My wife found West Paw and I gave them a shot. These toys are fantastic! They have lasted for months! They are so good that I can actually let them play with these unattended. Take my word for it, if you have a doggo that can chew through anything then these are the toys you need. The opportunity presented itself for me to try out the Bumi dog toy, produced by West Paw. This particular toy is one of West Paw's newest dog toys. Bumi, makes an exceptional toy for tug of war. It is made of Zogoflex. Zogoflex is a strong, malleable material that is suppose to withstand unfavorable conditions. Those conditions being my dog's sharp teeth, his powerful grip, and his action in thrashing it all over the yard as he is playing. Well, I went outside and introduced him to the Bumi. He wasn't excited like I thought he would be. At first, that was disappointing. He would not play tug of war with me. Instead, he liked running and fetching the Bumi back to me. The Bumi is a light weight, "S" shaped, bouncy toy that is easy to throw for fetching. It also travels a bit further than most toys due to these traits. It is non-toxic, BPA and Phthalates free ( Phthalates is a chemical used to soften PVC plastics). These substances can cause damage to the kidneys, liver, lungs, and testes according to animal research. Not all dog toys are safe and I do not want to risk my dog's health for anything. The Bumi is made to be long lasting and safe for dogs to chew on. I like that he will fetch the toy because it requires him to get up and move. Exercise will be good for him and he is learning a few commands. I gave him a reward and that really motivated him to continue fetching. It looks like my dog will enjoy chewing on this toy for the most part. So far, it has held up well.When he puts his mouth on it, he grips it in the middle section, where it has a ball like shape. I suppose it's because this is the first time he has had a toy like this. Usually, he retrieves balls and other round toys so this toy is fun and easier for him to grip. This toy is made in the USA and it was made to last a long time. The chewing action is good for his gums and teeth. The Bumi floats in water and can be easily washed or placed in the dishwasher. Lastly, I was impressed with the fact that if the Bumi comes apart it can be returned to West Paw company for a new one. The West Paw Company made this toy so it can be recycled if returned. It's a great toy for my dog and with it being recyclable, it is good for us and our environment. I don't think a dog owner could go wrong in purchasing this new innovative toy by West Paw.DD

Over the past 17 years, we've had 3 dogs and have bought hundreds of toys over those years. None of our dogs were very rough with their toys, so we've had 3 baskets full of gently used dog toys. All 3 dogs have since passed away, the last one in June of 2020. So, in September of 2020 we got a mini Goldendoodle puppy. Since we still had the 3 baskets full of toys that were in good condition from our other dogs, our new puppy, "Bowie" has had tons of toys to play with. The big difference is that Bowie is NOT gentle with his toys!! He is a power chewer who not only tears toys apart, he will actually consume the stuffing!! I've had to take every toy away from him after a day or two due to his weird appetite! I NEVER leave him alone with a toy. But there is one toy from that bunch that he absolutely loves and is still in excellent condition. So, thankfully, I was able to find the name of the company stamped into this toy, and I immediately searched the internet for the company West Paw (praying that it was still around). I was ecstatic to find their website, and there I saw his beloved toy – the "Bumi"!!! I was also surprised to see it listed as a toy for gentle chewers! I saw that almost all the reviewers mentioned that their dogs were more like Bowie – power chewers. The other thing about the Bumi is that it makes Bowie do the Zoomies all around the house whenever he plays with it. It makes him crazy! So, the added benefit is the exercise he gets when he plays with it, and there is still not a single bite mark on it! YAS! AMAZING! We throw this sucker on a tennis court and it won't break, the only complaint I have that isn't the balls fault but maybe you should think about before you buy this one is that our boys face gets very bloody pushing this around. So we looked into Holly's soft version and we will be getting that one shortly. Our rescue is a border collie and australian cattle dog mix. She has always been very timid and we've never been able to find a toy she likes. We did notice however she spent all her free time trying to herd our other dog. We got her this and took to it immediately, she absolutely loves this. It is so wonderful to find a toy that she finally enjoys! And might save our other dog from constantly being herded. I purchased 2 of these balls one for my bulldog and one for my nephew cane Corso. I have to say they both rough it it with the ball and it's still in tact. My German Shepherds will destroy things if I give them a chance. They ALL ( I have 3) love these balls! The rope could be bigger or come with bigger knots,,,, I add a knot to keep the rope from coming out. But the balls are great fun! My dogs favorite toys. That being said, These are toys that need to be used with humans. If you just leave the dog to his own devices he will chew it apart. Simple solution is to play with your dog. This particular chew toy covers a variety of aspects when it comes to your dog and their chewing behaviors and dental health. We have a Rottweiler that – like most dogs – thinks with their stomach a lot of the time and you can pack each end of this particular toy full of biscuits and then let your dog figure out how to get them. The little rubber nubs all over each end get up between their teeth and keep her teeth clean without us having to really do anything by way of human interaction/brushing her teeth. Our Rottie is 5 1/2 years old and has never NEEDED to have her teeth cleaned due to her obsessive want/need to have this toy filled with biscuits so that she can work on getting them out. Twice a day we fill each end up for her (which is not two handfuls of biscuits, ends up being a couple of them in each end)…she brings it to us right after she eats her breakfast and right after her late afternoon dinner. She BRINGS IT TO US literally pleading for us to fill it up so that she can go chew and gnaw away on it. They only last about 3-4 months but the amount of money we have NOT had to spend on dental cleanings every year or two is well worth the $25-$30 a year we spend on these toys. Her breath has been great ever since she was a puppy and we attribute it to her twice daily routine of chewing on this toy. The toy alone is not enough to entice any dog to want to chew on it…but filling each end with the hard biscuits is and most dogs will do whatever it takes to get them out. We give this one 5 stars. No toy is indestructible in the mouth of a dog with the right set of jaws. 3 of these per year with a Rottweiler isn't a bad ratio especially when it helps with their breath and ours definitely has clean teeth and no "dog breath" like they are known to get. Try one and stuff it with biscuits and see how your dog reacts. Ours loves it !Dan

I use this to hide dentabones for my dog. She loves it. She can pretty much get the bone out within a few seconds, but she likes trying to remove the red ball from the inside of this toy too. She did rip it, but she’s a pitbull so i expected to at. The key is to let chewers play with it for a little bit while you watch for them to try to remove the ball inside, then give them a tough bone that they can chew on and take this one away if you’re not watching. I’ve found very few toys that my girl doesn’t destroy and eat, but this is something different that she gets really excited about on sight, so I’d recommend this to any dog as long as you watch them with it.Steph

My one year old goldendoodle is a power chewer and shredder of all things plush. However, she has not torn or shredded this rubber toy. Smaller treats fall too easily out of the center, so I squished a chicken jerky treat that was too large for it inside the red part. The pressure of it being too large holds it in and creates the challenge. She has been entertained for hours so far and it is providing her with the mental enrichment of trying to figure out how to get the treat. She is a smart dog and needs a job to do or she gets herself into trouble. This toy is perfect for her! It’s also a great interactive toy for playing fetch. We love the soft flexible rubber design that bounces erratically but doesn’t cause damage to anything inside the house. It’s easy for her to pick up with her teeth and she can squeeze her nose into the openings. There are no rough edges or hard spots. Perfect toy at a great price! We love this. I only use it as a slow feeder, and my dog loves knocking this thing around. I like that it doesn't get him overly excited like some other big slow feeders do. It releases kibble at a good rate and gets him moving about. Plus, it's quiet. My only complaint is it can be hard to load (I spoon kibble into the slot), but I could probably find a funnel and use the holes instead. I always take it away as soon as he's done, so he's had very minimal play with it. It's a good thick rubber, but I don't think it would withstand an actual chew session. Size is larger than I expected but my dog can still grab it and carry it if she squishes it on the area where the slit is for putting in treats. The larger hole is a bit large – most the treats we have come out pretty quickly (or she's just very smart). That said, this is better than all the other treat kongs or toys I've bought! She's engaged with it, likes to chew on it (seems durable enough to let her do so) and likes us to throw it even without treats (I think she likes the wild bouncing). I bought this as a gift for my daughter's VERY high energy full size boxer cross who gets the "zoomies" every night sometime between 6:00 and 7:30. She'll easily spend an hour rolling it around trying to get her favourite treats out. Easy to clean! So much more challenging than the typical round style that she simply throws down the stairs. The ball is certainly great for standard use if your dog is just about playing fetch or chasing the ball around. But if your dog is a strong chewer, these tennis balls are not durable. I have a two year old Siberian Husky who loves to chew on things, including her tennis balls after she gets tired of chasing them around. She’s torn several of these Petco tennis balls into pieces in a matter of minutes, versus a gently used regular tennis ball that we found in the yard that took her well over a month to even pierce and split in half. The only reason I keep giving her the Petco tennis balls is because I bought several at once and want to use them up before I buy regular tennis balls. On the plus side, my husky continues to play with the torn up ball even after it’s already been obliterated so she gets at least a solid day out of it. Lastly, I was impressed with the fact that if the Bumi comes apart it can be returned to West Paw company for a new one. The West Paw Company made this toy so it can be recycled if returned. It's a great toy for my dog and with it being recyclable, it is good for us and our environment. I don't think a dog owner could go wrong in purchasing this new innovative toy by West Paw.DD

Over the past 17 years, we've had 3 dogs and have bought hundreds of toys over those years. None of our dogs were very rough with their toys, so we've had 3 baskets full of gently used dog toys. All 3 dogs have since passed away, the last one in June of 2020. So, in September of 2020 we got a mini Goldendoodle puppy. Since we still had the 3 baskets full of toys that were in good condition from our other dogs, our new puppy, "Bowie" has had tons of toys to play with. The big difference is that Bowie is NOT gentle with his toys!! He is a power chewer who not only tears toys apart, he will actually consume the stuffing!! I've had to take every toy away from him after a day or two due to his weird appetite! I NEVER leave him alone with a toy. But there is one toy from that bunch that he absolutely loves and is still in excellent condition. So, thankfully, I was able to find the name of the company stamped into this toy, and I immediately searched the internet for the company West Paw (praying that it was still around). I was ecstatic to find their website, and there I saw his beloved toy – the "Bumi"!!! I was also surprised to see it listed as a toy for gentle chewers! I saw that almost all the reviewers mentioned that their dogs were more like Bowie – power chewers. The other thing about the Bumi is that it makes Bowie do the Zoomies all around the house whenever he plays with it. It makes him crazy! So, the added benefit is the exercise he gets when he plays with it, and there is still not a single bite mark on it!
