You waste more than you use on your puppy or get too much on them. Once you get your pup covered it takes a long time to fully rinse it out of its fur. This is a very good company and they have good products for humans and pets. My dog, unfortunately, happens to have very dry sensitive itchy skin. Especially during flea season. Just one flea bite and it's off to the races. She has severe "flea bites venom" allergy. So flea season I have to be hyper vigilant with everything from yard, home, pet flea and tick treatment, and grooming. I purchased this one day because I know that oatmeal is very soothing to itchy dry skin. I have used regular oatmeal as a paste and as a bath/rinse with very good results. This shampoo smells good, it was a little higher priced but I was OK as long as the results were equal to the price point. Sadly, I was not impressed. In this case it was the name brand reputation was bigger than the results. while it did clean her fur thoroughly and nicely , she was scratching a lot within the first few hours after her bath. And she was properly rinsed. I spend triple the time rinsing.  I put her back in the shower and rinsed her with the homemade oatmeal bath that I use. Regular old-school oatmeal, mixed with water, and just use it as a soak/rinse. I also put in a few drops of high-quality Teatree oil, the mother of apple cider vinegar, and a cup of chamomile tea. that's my homemade treatment for itchy sensitive skin this shampoo, for the price, did not meet my expectations. This is a great natural dog shampoo that i use on my dog regularly. I used to use a lot of product, like a quarter of the bottle every time I bathed my fur baby. I was told from my groomers to create a foam with some water and soap in a bottle and it makes the product lather better and uses so much less! After lathering, you have to leave it on for about 5 minutes, as with all purple shampoos. I make sure to put a heavy amount on his paws and bum. These are areas that's tend to strain over time. In between baths, i clean his paws with this as well, leaving it on for 5 minutes then thoroughly rinsing. I bought this originally for my nieces new and tiny miniature Dockson puppy and we ended up using it on her other mini Dockson and our poodle. It’s almost impossible to bath your dog or puppy with out them licking the water or the soap on themselves. I'm not a fan of most doggie shampoos out there because they aren't always transparent about ingredients, and often there's a ton of neon colouring. This was quite a splurge for a shampoo, as my last shampoo purchase was a gallon of Buddy Wash for $60. However, it's my pup's birthday so I always get a few presents for her. I find Ouai products are very perfumey, but this is definitely not as fragranced as my human products. My goldendoodle has very high-maintenance, SUPER fine hair so I always follow up a shampoo with a bunch of conditioner. It’s truthfully the most natural drug store product you can put on your skin. The same goes for dogs. My puppy definitely looks and feels cleaner after a bath with this shampoo. I have ALWAYS loved burts bees. I’ve always loved the brand and it’s affordable price. It’s truthfully the most natural drug store product you can put on your skin. The same goes for dogs. I read in a lot of reviews that people were disappointed that there was no fragrance to the shampoo. Some look for that to neutralize odor. That’s actually not what you would want. If you want them to smell nice, purchase a cologne for your dog. The fragrances can be very harsh to the skin depending on what it is. My new puppy has had the worst skin issues since we got him and this was so gentle and relieving to my baby. I gave him an coconut oil bath along with this and it softened his skin and coat. The bottle came already open, and spilled all over. A good 1/4 was already gone. For as much as this costs, they could really put some time into the packaging. How Do I know something wasn't put in that could harm my sister’s dog? This also has absolutely no scent which I guess if you want to go that way fine, but Burt's bees products usually have a nice natural scent and this had none. I just bought this puppy shampoo last week and I've used it almost every day since then. As many of you might know Shih tzu puppy hair gets so gross and dirty almost every time they go out to potty or play and this shampoo comes in handy, it smells so good like a clean baby. Plus its organically grown and it has aloe, it makes her skin and fur so very soft. its very light and washes out easily so you aren't having to lean over the tub for a long time trying to rinse it out of their fur. The woman who sold it to me said that they use it in the actual grooming salon on the dogs too and its just as good as she made it out to be. I will definitely be buying this shampoo from now on. This is better than pricey vet shampoo! I say this because our 3 year old lab mix is sensitive to the season changes and with that being said he has quite a few hotspots throughout the year. We went to the vet the very first time it happened and received some allergy meds. Now they did work in the long run (we had to give them to him for about two weeks) but it didn’t necessarily help his skin—the itching, scratching, and biting. We have had Vetoquinol medicated shampoo in the past but it’s so expensive, anywhere from $25-$35 a bottle. So I did some research on medicated shampoos and came across this one. I was skeptic because it is on the cheaper end and you know how that sometimes goes haha. Needless to say I’ve never actually had a product cost less than half the price and do what a name brand does. It cleared up his skin in a few days (using it twice a week) until the spots were gone although he did get relief the very first time we bathed him in it; which is such a wonderful thing to witness when your dog is visibly struggling. Just please don’t stop making this product and carrying it Walmart!!! We depend on it!!! So sorry I don’t have before and after photos for you to see for yourself but just buy it, you will not be disappointed plus it will save you SO much money.
My dog has been having such problems with his skin, super itchy and has always been very sensitive. He licks a lot and creates hot spots etc… After he got an infection and we had to put a cone around his head this has helped sooooo much to clear up his skin condition! I noticed some comments saying that it's just a moisturizer but for some people like myself it took a long time to find "the right one". Most lightweight moisturizers end with my skin being back to dry in about half an hour max whereas heavier creams leave behind a very oily feeling skin. We've been using this shampoo on both of our Saint Berdoodles for the last 4.5 years. The shampoo is very gentle on the skin and washes well. The self-dog wash that we used to take our dogs to uses it and we love it. Our puppies were 9 weeks old when we first tried it. We give them a bath every two weeks and they have not had any skin problems. No itching, no dry skin, but we make sure we rinse them well. We always use the conditioner (same brand) after we wash them and it leaves their hair very silky and smelling good for quite a while. Now we started washing our dogs at home and had to buy it. It says on the bottle that you can dilute it up to 1:16 but I would not go more than 1:8 or it's very watery. BEST shampoo out there for sensitive skin!M.M.

For many years I used their hypoallergenic shampoo, primarily because it's tearless, however, recently that product was not lathering as well as it's used to. The company was bought out by another in the last few years and, though I don't know, I believe the components have been changed so I decided to try their puppy shampoo, which is also tearless. I want to add before I start my review that I no longer use Burt’s Bees products because I wanted something stronger for my dogs. I also originally bought this product with the intention of using it for one of my dog’s dry skin. With that being said I have a miniature poodle with severe allergies that caused him to scratch at himself until he was bleeding and scratched off the skin in multiple location on his body. He is now medicated and is a lot better with the correct products. This product did help with his allergies minimally but did help his over all coat a lot. His coat was soft and shiny after using the product and after a few weeks his dry skin that was caused by a previous product was much better. This shampoo smells really good and it definitely brightens up my little guy! There's is a noticeable difference after i bath him in this. After lathering, you have to leave it on for about 5 minutes, as with all purple shampoos. I make sure to put a heavy amount on his paws and bum. These are areas that's tend to strain over time. In between baths, i clean his paws with this as well, leaving it on for 5 minutes then thoroughly rinsing. After he's all dried, he doesn't seem irritated so i believe it is NOT drying out his skin like some brightening shampoos are known for.natalie .g
I bought this originally for my nieces new and tiny miniature Dockson puppy and we ended up using it on her other mini Dockson and our poodle. It’s almost impossible to bath your dog or puppy with out them licking the water or the soap on themselves. This soap they can get distracted in licking it and it is gentle enough that it won’t hurt them a bit. *not that I’m suggesting to reward bad habits but if you bath your pets at home then you known the struggle is real!* We still use this even though they aren’t puppies anymore. The other big thing I love about this is I can wash above the neck! On the bottle it states that this shampoo was tested on humans before it was tested on any animals. The shampoo is a Sensitive Skin Formula for both dogs and cats. The shampoo is also very thick, rich and it has a great lather. Most shampoo's are very watery. I really like that this one is thick and the smell lasts on my doggie. I gave him a bath 3-days ago and he still smells like the shampoo. This is the longest that he has ever gone smelling fresh with a shampoo used at home. A few other great perks about the shampoo are, they are cruelty free, eco friendly, made in the USA, no animal ingredients, no paragons, phthalate free, botanically derived and recycled plastic. It is a 16 ounce bottle, the scent I got was the [oatmeal. I really like these shampoos are tested on humans first! Not on our cute furry friends! This shampoo has a nice subtle smell which fades nicely after a few days and keeps your furry friend soft and clean. I found that it definitely keeps their coat soft and doesn't dry out their skin. If your dog is suffering from chronic skin allergies or infections this will not cure that! It is only good for soft fur and good smelling, clean pets!
