Best Dog Bicycle Carriers (Jan 2023 Update)

We had to put a few holes on the bottom and zip tied it tighter to the front bike rack. I also added padding to the bottom for doggie bottom comfort. The double leach clips are handy. Lots if room for my 8lb Shihtzu. Daisy loves riding in it. Great way to include your small lap dog. Any larger I would recommend a trailer.Lara W.

Finally, took my cat out for a ride and she did not jump out. She loves the basket. The basket is very well made – high-quality construction. and looks cool too. It was pretty easy to mount onto the bike. I like the side pockets – very convenient to stick my phone, water bottle, and whatever. My cat keeps jumping back into the basket after as well. I I'm extremely happy with my k&h travel bike basket that I use for my dog. It was extremely easy to install and has the easy option for removal after the bracket is installed. That is extremely important so you can clean it out. It's also quite helpful to keep it dry if you live in an area that likes to rain which I do. The soft insert slips out easily and can be thrown in the washing machine the inner area is made of a waterproof wipe down material. The installation was not real hard I was able to do it on my own with minimal frustration. I love the little side pockets I stick treats and a water bottle along with pet waste clean up bags. The double clip makes me feel safe and secure that he is not going to be able to jump out. My dog loves to ride with me I would recommend it for anyone who would like to venture out with their dog.Kimber032

It's really nice but it didn't fit on my bike, it's too big. Plus my dog is way to small. It's for a dog at the very least 10lbs. Also It would be good for the car. If it was a little smaller I would have kept it for the car.joang888

Ich habe den Basil Buddy gekauft, um unseren Beagle (ca. 10 kg) auf unserem Motorroller mitnehmen zu können. Die Befestigung auf dem Gepäckträger war recht einfach. Zur Stabilität hat mein Mann noch zusätzliche Schellen angebaut. Jetzt läßt sich der Korb ganz einfach an und ab machen. Der Hund sitzt mit dem Gitter sehr sicher und fährt gerne mit. Mit einer 2. Platte kann man den Korb, ganz einfach zwischen Fahrrad und Roller wechseln. Zwei Minuspunkt: 1. Die Gummibefestigungen des Gitters sind sofort an den festen Enden abgebrochen. Wir haben diese dann durch eine dickere Gummischnur ersetzt. 2. Das Kissen ist nicht fest genug.Merle

I was surprised to find the basket so well made, it is a heavy duty bike basket that is made to last. It has multiple pockets as pictured, the front has 2 pockets and although it is not depicted in the product picture, the rain cover is stored in the lower and larger of the 2 pockets, and it is attached to a strap that is sewed into the interior of the top smaller pocket. This way, you won't misplaced it, and in situation where the rain cover is in used, it will remain attached to the bike basket if it was to come loose. It also has a cardboard insert that helps make the base of the basket hard providing support for the puppy, and helping to keep the shape of the basket. At the top of the basket, the 2 straps sits across the top taking up a couple of inches of the opening of the basket on each side. Inside the basket, there is an adjustable strap that is used to secure the dog into the basket.There is a metal bar that is inserted into the bottom of the basket that serves several purposes: 1- it keeps the basket in its form when expanded, 2- it provides some support when the dog is in the basket, and 3- it leans against the bike to stabilize the basket. One of the safety flaws is that this metal bar doesn't really support the dog's weight (#2) because it is leaned against the bike rather than installed onto the bike frame to provide permanent stability. It can slightly swing to the right and left when weights are added to the basket and the bike is moving. This could be fixed by adding a couple of bungee cords. I also used the bungee cords for another important safety reason (mentioned below).The basket is held onto the bike by 2 straps with plastic clips. With my puppy being only 11 lbs, the straps and clips SHOULD hold the basket in place with my dog is in it. Unfortunately, when the straps are not wrapped around the handle in a certain angle, even when adjusted, it could slip from the clip which loosen up the strap from the bike handle with just a light push do…Tilly

For our disappointment, the basket is very wobbly. Our 11lbs well behaved doesn't stay comfortable, because the basket moves side to side, unbalancing even the bicycle. We will use it on my daughter's bike to carry her doll instead. But can't hide the disappointment.Paula Z

I put my 10 lb. dog in it and the bike tipped. I was holding it and dog so no injuries. I then put my 7 lb. dog in it and she fits ok. But now I need to try it out with her before I comment on it. The buckles are the only security keeping the basket secure and am a bit uneasy about that. Also, for the high price of it, I am indeed disappointed in the overall structure. We shall see how it works out after I've had a chance to ride with the 7 lb. dog in the basket. If it isn't secure enough, I will return and expect a full refund.Janet

My 8lbs Maltese loves this basket. I have a Huffy Cruiser bike and it works great. Assembling it to my bike was super easy. My baby girl (dog) loved it; there were times when she tried to stand up (she's very nosey), & i thank God above for that protective hook that comes with! The only thing that I did not like were the two straps on top that blocked her at times. But overall I would highly recommend for under 10lbs pups!MalteseMommaOfOne

This trailer is easy to open & get ready for the road (I wouldn't describe it as "assembly"– you're just opening it up and popping on wheels). The ride is smooth, and we haven't had any tipping issues (my dog weighs 32lb). It's not especially heavy compared to other dog trailers. It's simple to detach & reattach to your bike for use. My critiques are that the nylon material isn't super rugged or thick, so zip with care. I've been searching for a large pet trailer for a nearly 70Lb dog. Decided to go for the Schwinn Rascal Plus as the price point was decent, though I could not find a single review for this particular trailer. Almost all the reviews are for the regular Schwinn Rascal for up to 50Lb dogs. I didn't want to spend over $200 for a large trailer, especially one my dog may not use at all. SET UP: It didn't come with a manual so I needed to contact the manufacturer for one. I based my purchase on the reviews of the smaller Schwinn Rascal (for dogs up to 50Lbs) and assumed assembly and function would be similar in regards to how easy it is to put together. This isn't the case for the Rascal Plus. There are a lot of parts. When I got a hold of the manual, it isn't very user friendly and needs a lot more detail. It was a two person job to put everything together, and you do require a number of tools (no tools are included). The cross bar is what allows the trailer to fold for storage. For the Rascal Plus, the crossbar is VERY difficult to put in place. I needed assistance from someone who is physically strong and even for them it wasn't easy to secure into place. I'm now hesitant to collapse the trailer for storage because I'll need help to get it set up again. Wheels: The wheels make me anxious, quite honestly. It's a pin that holds it in place , not secured in any other way. I took the trailer out for a test drive and I can feel the trailer shaking a lot. I'm not sure how safe I would feel having a living being in this trailer on the road knowing that a simple metal pin/clip is holding the wheels in place. Just about most parts are held together by pins, that are released by pushing a metal clip out of the way. The trailer does tilt back quite a bit, maybe I need to adjust the tow bar coupler position on my bike but right now it isn't level. The Cabin: Large cabin however this isn't for tall/long dogs. For reference, my dog is 45" long from nose to the base of tail (sacrum area) and 30" tall. The inside diameter of the cabin is 31" in length, 22" width. I like that the weight capacity is high enough at least to hold the weight of the my dog, but also hold a significant amount of weight when I need to haul items. Fabric: I can't speak on durability of the fabric but it is very thin and the entire unit is covered in pressure marks. It could use reflective material for night time visibility, right now there is only 1 small red reflector attached to the back. The weight of this trailer is quite heavy. I have no idea if it's made out of aluminum or steel because the product details are different (for the regular Rascal trailer) on just about all sites I've visited. I can feel it when I cycle up a slight incline. I do also think the attachment interferes with the wheel in someway, like my wheels weren't moving as smoothly after installing this trailer. There's a fabric strap that gets caught near the chain plate, which I moved further away but then it doesn't clip back to the original loop and I had to clip it to the tow bar pin near the coupler.Holistic Pets

This is a great product for your pet. Our 53 lb. lab loves it. It has easy access from the back and she gets right in. There is plenty of room in the 2 pockets inside the trailer and a smaller pocket on top. I only gave it 4 stars because I had a hard time removing the piece off the latch while I was assembling it. It comes with a mat for the bottom of the carrier but we added a dog pad to make the ride more comfortable for our dog. The material seems sturdy and we leave the front open for her to enjoy the ride. It has a small lead leash to secure your pet for the ride. It pulled very well behind my bike. We have electric bikes and the trailer hitch fit just fine on the wheel hub.Staci J

My pup Luca LOVES going on bike rides, thanks to my Snoozer bike seat. Pros: It's very sturdy when installed, easy to take on and off, comfortable, comes with straps to secure your pup, plus I get compliments on it all the time! Cons: Bike gets very heavy towards the back so it can be hard to catch your balance when you lose balance (for example, when at a stop light), instructions for installing were not very clear (kind of had to figure it out myself), and one more security strap would have been nice. I kind of rigged it to where I can install one more make-shift strap to secure my pup. She was able to jump out on our second bike ride. The real reason why I gave 4 stars is because the time to ship took over a week, and when I did get my shipping confirmation, no tracking number was provided. I called the customer service line and left a message, no response. I then did a live online chat with customer service and finally obtained a tracking number. When I asked why it was not included in my shipping confirmation email, she simply said "I don't know," and didn't make any effort to find out why. Our dog seems to love his new snoozer bike basket. He’s about 15 pounds and has plenty of room in it. It feels very stable and secure which is nice for our longer bike rides to know he is safe. I was a little disappointed in the appearance of the basket, you can see the stark white foam inside through the holes the attachment straps come out of and it makes the outer fabric seems slouchy and not well fitted. Overall we enjoy the simple fact that it works well for our pup and he loves it.sarah w

I literally bought this to attach to my Motorcycle Scooter for my 28 lb small frame Schnauzer. I modified by adding a non slip pad, using a bungie cord under my seat and strapping it tightly to the body of the scooter. I also used his leash to secure him from jumping off. My dog loves it along with wearing a dog helmet and goggles. I recommend for bicycles, but it's great for Motorcycle Scooters as well. (Will share photos..)Scooter Rider

Once the bracket is on, the basket is easy and quick to get on and off the bike and as it folds up it takes up little room when not in use. It could do with more straps to secure the dog in the basket. One strap on one side allows the dog to easily jump out that side. I have had to add additional straps to keep the dog safely secured in the basket.Rebecca F.

This basket has a flaw with the bracket. Despite e mailing several times and sending a photo of the problem I have had no response back…this has left me with a dog basket I am unable to use and 50 quid out of pocket. Bought this for my mini schnauzer. She is only 4 months at the moment but so far so good. She got used to it very quickly. I hope to get a lot of use out of it but am not sure how big she will be so it is early days yet. The inner harness worked well but I would have preferred something that maybe hooked on two sides for extra safety – also, I had to zip the mesh round most of her to stop her trying to jump out. It would be lovely to see an mesh top in a sort of dome shape so she could sit within it – or have a centre opening in the mesh rather than having to have her look out of one corner. Just a small thing but I think it might make a difference. A great buy so far 🙂Jacky B.

Cykelkorgen är relativt fin och lättmonterad men man måste ha en lång pakethållare för att den skall sitta stabilt ( om ens då). Klorna som håller fast korgen skulle behövt vara fler eller större. Jag använde buntband för att säkra upp den och nu känns den tryggare. Hunden slår lätt i huvudet i gallret vid inbromsning, kommer nog ta bort eller kapa en del av gallret på min. Över lag en bra produkt men skulle behöva utvecklas lite för att verkligen funka. Min hund väger 8-9 kg och den känns inte trygg utan att fästas med ytterligare förstärkning.Hillevi

I have this basket in my closet in my room, l use to put it on my New X-Treme Sedona 48 Volt Blue Ele4ctric Bicycle The clips worked out fine, but after awhile when l was going to work this basket fell right of the back l didn`t discover it until l was at work for three hours, after that l went back to go and look for it, then l found it. The only thing they ought to do is make this a galvanized steel basket with my stronger clamps on it so the basket can stay on the bicycle, and not have them rust after awhile, that`s about the only two things about it otherwise it`s a pretty good basket.Customer

I bought this to carry my small 11 lb dog thinking he would fit. Unless he lies down flat the bars that clip and lock the top in place crush him. The basket itself is actually fine and will be useful to safely carry items, and I really like that it can be taken off the rear rack easily – just not putting my dog in here.Kevin

If I could, I'd give no stars. Not only was the pocket on the side sewn on upside down, I put the basket together as instructed and when I used it as a shoulder holder, the strap broke and the basket went swinging. Thank goodness we were not outside, using it and that happened. My dog could have gotten really hurt. Then on top of that, I asked for a return and instead they credited me partial of what I paid and that's it. This damage was not caused by me….that's how it arrived! So why am I paying for it!!!?!!!! No return label sent as the girl who helped me advised it would be sent. Very disappointed and wont be ordering from you again.Leilani

I bought this for my daughter so she could take her dog bike riding. The basket is poorly made and the straps are hard to attach to the handle bars because all the cables and brake handles get in the way. When my daughter was riding the bike the basket slipped and hit the front tire of the bike and the puppy and her crashed and fell into traffic lucky the car behind her was able to stop before they got ran over. They both had scratches and scrapes but they were both ok. DO NOT buy this product it is dangerous and should not be sold.Jccc

Good product for small 5ish lbs dog. You need to make sure the inside safety strap is tight enough. Our dog jumped out and was hanging by the neck for awhile until we got the bike stopped. She was fine, it was just very scarey!Doglover

The bag itself looks sturdy and has a large lid to accommodate the dog sitting upright. However, the mounting hardware was missing and we need to return it. It is very annoying and kept us from the trip we had planned on. Schwinn should know better than sending a carrier without the hardware.Claudia

I don't if I am writing this more for Pearson my dog or myself. This is cutest, most adorable small animal carrier that I have ever owned. The construction of the carrier is well done, with the fabric being well tightly woven for durability and safety for tiny pets is awesome. Das war eine gute Entscheidung diesen Hundekorb mit dem Wetterschutz und dem dazugehrigen Adapter fr Racktime Gepcktrger zu kaufen. Er war zwar nicht gerade billig, aber die Verarbeitung und das Patent sind phantastisch. Einfach in den Gepcktrger reinklicken, den Hund in den Korb setzen, das Gitter verschliessen (kinderleicht) und los geht's. Unser Hund wiegt 6 kg und hat genug Platz. Der Korb sitzt bombenfest. This trailer is very spacious for my corgis. Despite their short height, they can see out the windows. They didn't seem to get any motion sickness and the zippers seem durable. Some of the seams of the fabric had threads coming out fresh out of the box. I'm hoping it lasts. I wish it came with a rain cover being that it was very pricey. I went with the XL due to the slightly larger dimensions, even though the combined weight of my dogs would've been under 75 lbs. The trailer goes on bumpy terrain, on grass and over hills just fine.Jessica

Went on a hike with a group of friends and let me tell you… carried 80+ lb husky (Bandit) in this bad boy and it was light weight! Bandit was a little nervous at first, but by the end of the hike he was taking a nap and would not get out!!! Highly recommend!Joana R.

This dog trailer is amazing! My dog loves riding in it. We thought she would be nervous b/c she is a pretty timid dog but she got right in. Now that she knows it means she can go with us everywhere, she loves it even more. It is super easy to set up too! The one thing is I wish it came with a soft padded bed. I know you can buy one but for $400 it seems like it should come with the bed. Our dog is a border collie mix ~ 32lbs and she fits in the regular size perfectly.Jessd
