I have a pretty picky kitty when it comes to carriers. He does not like hard plastic or metal bars. I got this Sherpa® Travel Original Deluxe™ Airline Approved Pet Carrier for up to 22 pounds to try and see if he liked it. I use it mainly for trips to the vet or visiting friends. It comes folded up (so you can store it under a bed easily) but is easy to fold out and put together. It comes with a stability board and faux lambswool liner that easily attach to the bottom with hook and loop strips. Also included is a shoulder strap. It has two openings: one of the top and one at the end. Both has zippers that lock. So kitty cannot escape. The is one small pocket on the back that could hold papers, or small toys or treats. Mesh sides provide plenty of light and air so kitty does not feel contained. I left my carrier out on the floor for him to investigate. He eventually went in and lay down. I did a test run just over to a friends house in my car. The carrier fit easily on my backseat. I was able to loop the shoulder strap over the headrest and also put the seat belt through the luggage band located on the rear side of the carrier. Kitty rode safely and for the most part, happy. He lay down and did not repeatedly circle. I love that the liner comes and out and is washable and that the entire carrier is washable. I love that the carrier is lightweight as Kitty weighs almost 20 pounds. I love that this carrier can be wedged into tighter spaces as it has a flexible frame.daisymae9624
I initially really liked this product. Its lightweight easy to carry. I kept it in my cat's comfort zone so he wouldn't be intimidated by it and he enjoyed laying in it and he relaxed quietly when being carried around. However it only took one 15 minute ride to the vet before this 11mo old cat became nervous and ripped it open at the seam. The hole was big enough to stick its head through and would have only gotten larger it I wasn't holding it shut (while driving). The product was listed for pets up to 16 pounds and my cat was not that big. The product does promote a 1 year warranty, however fine print states ***Worldwise will not accept the return of a bag that has carried an animal (yes you read that correct). SHERPA warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Pet damage of any kind is NOT covered under warrant. I purchased two of these Original Sherpa bags over 20 years ago and have used them until just recently. My kitty passed away and i just got two new kittens, so decided to buy two more of these bags new and donate the old originals, although there was nothing at all wrong with them. Just thought it was time to buy new. The old ones lasted many years of traveling every month on planes, in cars, hotels, and definitely got more use than the average pet I’m sure! They held up all these years without even a rip or tear, even being shoved underneath airplane seats for years! HOWEVER, I wish I did not get rid of them. The new ones I just purchased do NOT by any means measure up to the old ones unfortunately. The saying holds true, that they don’t make things like they used to! The quality of this bag has gone way downhill since the ones I purchased many years ago! I cannot see these lasting anywhere near as long as my old ones. They are making them very cheaply now, and they did away with the extra compartment that was in between the back zippered one and the bag. There was another wide compartment about one inch wide, which was so convenient. I used to put my kitties food, dishes, and treats in there. It was perfect for travel! This brand's quality is TERRIBLE & kinda feeling like petco is for mailing one that's obviously coming apart ngl. Literally the mat was sized wrong, side not properly attached, the front clearly wasn't stitched right, or it's used?.. Poor stitching overall. Doesn't look used at first glance but it's coming apart. I'm not gonna post every picture, but this brand seems to be unreliable. Contacted petco but they need pics and can't tell me if I can get it repaired? Basically it's not their problem, they're contacting the company they got it from. There’s no way I bought the same carrier as the same people who wrote good reviews. The zipper broke the first time I zipped it. The shoulder strap makes it not sturdy. Not as large as I thought it would be and I bought the large. My cat takes daily trips to the vet so I was looking for something easier to carry. This is not it. I like that my kitten is visible when I placed her inside the carrier. I love the clasp that keeps the zipper from accidentally opening once my kitten was placed inside. This carrier was nearly five times the cost of my last one BUT though I hemmed and hawed about the price, I have no regrets having used it only once. It's wonderful that it has a sturdy frame. I bought a large even though we have a 1 year old kitten. She weighs about 7 lbs and the carrier is quite big. But I love that she has the extra space. The straps are super sturdy! I highly recommend this for anyone who travels often with their pet. It feels like it will hold up for a very long time. The day after we returned from our trip, our kitty slept in the carrier all day. She's taken very well to the carrier. One note is that while we did not get push back from any airline staff, the carrier barely squeaked under the window seat and did not fit under an aisle seat. I blame this on the airline (United). The space under the aisle seat was significantly smaller than the other seats. We had no troubles with it fitting under Jet Blue seats.Kelsey

Purchased the famous Sherpa, the one from Wild One as well as another off brand and I have to say THIS one is the ONE. Teddy is decently sized and very long. He weighs exactly 16 pounds and has long legs as well. This bag is absolutely perfect. He loved it. It's very comfortable, the straps are comfortable and it's just quality material. I purchased the large size for him and he has enough space in there to roll around and even extra space to fit some of his favorite toys. I would give it 10 stars if I could. It's perfect.F.M.
I bought 3 of these carriers for my family’s move. Two 11-14lb cats and a 11lb chihuahua mix. The carriers were a great fit for each of the pets. Roomy enough to turn around in, small enough to fit under airplane seats (basic economy, Alaska). While I was acclimating the pets to the carriers, my two cats actually preferred to cuddle in one carrier (see picture). The handles are sturdy, which I like, but the rope design is quite bulky. The longer strap was at an odd length, at least for my height. It was difficult to find a comfortable way to carry my pet, for me and the pet, using the shoulder strap. I would have liked a longer strap. The construction of the carriers is great, the materials are nice and they held up well against three travel days. My chihuahua was able to chew a small hole in the mesh of the front panel, but she was very anxious on this trip and doing her best to escape the carrier. On that note, I really appreciated having the top panel opening as we were able to have it open after takeoff so my dog’s head could stick out and we could calm her. There is only one zipper on the front panel. I would have preferred two, as getting the cats in and zipped up before they squeezed out was quite the feat. The small pocket at the back of the carrier is a great feature. I was able to fit pet snacks and other items there for easy access at the airport. Overall, I do recommend these carriers. I have used cheaper carriers and their durability and security has always been lacking. On this trip, I felt reassured that my pets weren’t going to be able to escape, and that they were comfortable and secure. I’m happy I went with these.K.P.

I ordered the Ibiyaya Ultralight Carrier Bag Pet Backpack because it seemed to be light and spacious with plenty of ventilation (unlike a lot of the bubble style pet backpacks). I'm really pleased with its versatility; it has an additional handle to allow carrying it like a crate and the bottom is detachable but securely zipped to the main compartment to facilitate easy cleaning. The pillow is thick for comfort and my cat can see out even when lying down, which isn't possible with many other brands of backpack. It also has plenty of head room for my cat. My only criticism is that the binding on the shoulder straps can dig into the armpit area if you're wearing a tank top while carrying it. A few months ago, I moved from the American Midwest to Eastern Europe and took my nine-year-old indoor cat with me. The preparation was nerve-wracking and I tried different carriers. This one was perfect and is definitely worth the money. It's flexible enough where I could take it in me in the middle of the flight or slide it back under the seat when landing; however, it's also sturdy enough to carry a bigger pet. Its best feature, of course, is its adjustable size. This bag allowed my pet plenty of room while adhering to all international regulations. I couldn't find another bag that did that. Also, if your pet is like mine and occasionally tries to get out by kicking and scratching, this is the bag you need. It's very solid, and the black one attracts no attention. It's dark, too, which allows your pet to feel protected. If you want peace of mind and a comfortable pet, I recommend it. I have gotten three of these pet carriers one for my cat, he's a medium size Himalayan and two for my Dad's 2 cats both Scottish Folds, the boy is a fairly large cat and the girl is a super small cat. These Delta carries all work perfectly for them. A good amount of room, No cramped spaces. The plush mat at the bottom is sturdy and comfortable for them and is easy to clean, though I like to put a blanket or towel down over the mats for added comfort and cleanliness. The zippers are the really strong and secure kind that come on a lot of high-end purses and suitcases. There's an ID tag that's a nice size it's large enough for their ID cards to be seen clearly through clear plastic slots and is secured with belt buckle clasp. The pocket on the Front is a zip pocket that's good for holding small items like pet meds, ETC. Where as the BACK pocket is more of an easy slip pocket for holding Travel papers or in my case their paperwork from the Vets office. I Never worry that the carriers going to brake or rip or anything. The handles have a nice secure grip to them and can be easily velcroed together, but take some effort to undo, so you know it's good quality. The carriers are sewn with strong tight stitches No pulls and No loose ends. The "mesh" is a thick, thick tightly woven plastic that Doesn't brake. I have searched other websites and Target has always had the best deals and Free Shipping on this item as well. Bottom-line after using this product I will Never again go back to using the cheap hard plastic one's that have a tendency brake apart, when I can just as easily clean this Delta one with a Clorox disinfectant wipe, the same way I cleaned those cheap plastic carriers in between uses. It's a terrific buy.. However, if you are planning to TRAVEL with your pet, you will of course want to make sure that this item is still up to code with the ever changing Airline laws and restrictions, ETC.Hannah
Perfect for American Airlines domestic flights. Fits my fat 16 lb cat easily and comforatbly. I minded other reviews and purchased twist ties to secure all zippers that they do not open if pushed on. Fits best under seat if placed lengthwise. Great ring to attach harness to if you place pet in a harness for when airport security take them out to xray carrier. Bought this to transport my cat to/from the vet, will possibly use this for travel in the future as well. It's so much easier to carry than the hard carrier I previously used. My cat had more space than I thought he would inside to move around (he's 14lbs) and he seemed comfortable. The padded bottom liner can be removed for cleaning, and the zip closures keep him from getting out whenever he wants – the last soft carrier I got had a velcro closure at the top on one end and he had zero issues letting himself out. The shoulder strap is kind of a weird length – I had to do a lot of adjusting to get the shoulder support in the right place, but it was fine once I did.citycat224

My only gripe is that interior dimensions of the carrier should be posted. At the moment of writing, only the exterior dimensions are listed. The exterior pockets take away quite a bit of interior room, so it was a bit of a tight fit for our chi x dachshund mix. She is within the weight limit but long (14-15 inches long from base of neck to base of tail.) She can lay down and turn around, however. This is an amazingly high quality carrier. For now, I think this is the best we can do for our dog. Should we find something of the same quality but slightly bigger interior dimensions, we would buy it immediately, and use this carrier for our calm senior cat instead. Great buy, no regrets! Just know that if your dog is longer or at the edge of the weight limit, it may be a tight fit due to the pockets taking up a bit of space. I have yet to use it but anxious to find out how easy it will be to close the bag without having to struggle keeping it closed just to zipper it (like my current pet carrier). If you love/value your pet like family, consider investing in keeping them safe like family. Pets are at greater risk of being hurdled to their death or being severely injured if riding in the car on the drivers lap or loose in the vehicle. I purchased this for my Toy Aussie who will be coming to his forever home in April when he turns 8 weeks old. I love this Passenger carrier. I love the fact you can open it from the top, side, or front. I also love the pee pad feature. I also ordered a pack of pee pads that works with this carrier. It seems very well made and is also a very nice-looking carrier. My only concern is its size. I was surprised to see how small it is on the inside. I am hoping this will still work when my puppy grows into a full-size Toy Aussie. I have a pretty picky kitty when it comes to carriers. He does not like hard plastic or metal bars. I got this Sherpa® Travel Original Deluxe™ Airline Approved Pet Carrier for up to 22 pounds to try and see if he liked it. I use it mainly for trips to the vet or visiting friends. It comes folded up (so you can store it under a bed easily) but is easy to fold out and put together. It comes with a stability board and faux lambswool liner that easily attach to the bottom with hook and loop strips. Also included is a shoulder strap. It has two openings: one of the top and one at the end. Both has zippers that lock. So kitty cannot escape. The is one small pocket on the back that could hold papers, or small toys or treats. Mesh sides provide plenty of light and air so kitty does not feel contained. I left my carrier out on the floor for him to investigate. He eventually went in and lay down. I did a test run just over to a friends house in my car. The carrier fit easily on my backseat. I was able to loop the shoulder strap over the headrest and also put the seat belt through the luggage band located on the rear side of the carrier. Kitty rode safely and for the most part, happy. He lay down and did not repeatedly circle. I love that the liner comes and out and is washable and that the entire carrier is washable. I love that the carrier is lightweight as Kitty weighs almost 20 pounds. I love that this carrier can be wedged into tighter spaces as it has a flexible frame.daisymae9624
I initially really liked this product. Its lightweight easy to carry. I kept it in my cat's comfort zone so he wouldn't be intimidated by it and he enjoyed laying in it and he relaxed quietly when being carried around. However it only took one 15 minute ride to the vet before this 11mo old cat became nervous and ripped it open at the seam. The hole was big enough to stick its head through and would have only gotten larger it I wasn't holding it shut (while driving). The product was listed for pets up to 16 pounds and my cat was not that big. The product does promote a 1 year warranty, however fine print states ***Worldwise will not accept the return of a bag that has carried an animal (yes you read that correct). SHERPA warranty covers manufacturing defects only. Pet damage of any kind is NOT covered under warrant. I purchased two of these Original Sherpa bags over 20 years ago and have used them until just recently. My kitty passed away and i just got two new kittens, so decided to buy two more of these bags new and donate the old originals, although there was nothing at all wrong with them. Just thought it was time to buy new. The old ones lasted many years of traveling every month on planes, in cars, hotels, and definitely got more use than the average pet I’m sure! They held up all these years without even a rip or tear, even being shoved underneath airplane seats for years! HOWEVER, I wish I did not get rid of them. The new ones I just purchased do NOT by any means measure up to the old ones unfortunately. The saying holds true, that they don’t make things like they used to! The quality of this bag has gone way downhill since the ones I purchased many years ago! I cannot see these lasting anywhere near as long as my old ones. They are making them very cheaply now, and they did away with the extra compartment that was in between the back zippered one and the bag. There was another wide compartment about one inch wide, which was so convenient. I used to put my kitties food, dishes, and treats in there. It was perfect for travel! They unfortunately omitted that compartment now. The old ones also came with the luggage tag attached which identifies your pets name, owners name, and contact information. I took my now 5 month old kitten (4 LB 6 oz) to the vet yesterday and decided I should get him a different carrier, one that would be more comfy for him and easier for me to carry too! Again, he is a 5 month old kitten, unfortunately he JUST fits into this carrier. Also, the shoulder/crossbody strap is impossible to latch on because the plastic on the latch has no give. I've had other Sherpa pet totes in the past and I wish this were made in a similar manner, providing strong support on the bottom but it does not. I am concerned after reading other reviews about kitties clawing their way out. I would be mortified. It seems to be of decent quality in terms of the fabrication and stitching. I do not want to return but feel the size is a major issue and for $30. I'd rather not have a carrier that can only be used for a few months. If you have an especially small pet I think this would make a wonderful carrier.Dawn

I bought the medium sized carrier for my 20 year old 19 pound Siamese cat. Other reviews said that the medium sized carrier was acceptable by most airlines and I needed it for our trips to Florida on Frontier Airlines. It is a tight fit but it does fit under the middle seat. Did not try the aisle or window. The main complaint that I have is the difficulty of access. There is a metal bar that separates a zippered lower opening and a zippered upper opening. It appears that the bar is used for stability, which is fine, but it greatly reduces the accessibility to your pet when you have to take them out for the TSA inspection at a crowed airport security checkpoint. It is very convenient to carry my dog in a backpack while going through security. Then pulling up the handle and being able to roll her to my gate. I have a 7 lb chihuahua and I bought her the medium carrier. She is a little longer in the body than the average chihuahua. She fits beautifully and has plenty of room to move and lay down in both the upright position and when the carrier is laying down. I would definitely suggest you put in a soft blanket because there is no cushioning, I also went and bought a soft waterproof material and velcroed it on the Part of the carrier that she would lay on under the seat. Scary how little ventilation pet carriers have. This one has ventilation on 3 sides. Very good for my puppy to be carried under a seat of a major airline. In addition, we worried about the room she would have to stretch out, since she needs to do that and an even bigger worry was how much we would have to collapse the top to accommodate the narrow space below the seat. Removable rods allow for some flexibility on this issue. We flew in CRJ 900, a smaller jet, and a similar sized E 700, both tight for a 5 pound puppy, but I brought the carrier to my lap to comfort her during the flight (Delta). The noise and the vibration really bothered her, so I would pad it, additionally, with a small piece of fluff or even foam rubber next time, but not bulky enough to block the ventilation. The reason why I am downgrading this rather expensive carrier ($70+) was that it is designed with no protection against razor sharp puppy teeth that seek out threads, fabric and plastic zippers. The zipper on the front panel was almost destroyed, 1-2 inches up from the bottom on each side., It is barely holding together and if it gives out, it will render this carrier useless immediately and could endanger my rambunctious pet in a confusing airport or on a plane. For the price, this cheap plastic zipper should be upgraded to a good metal zipper and some protection should be built in so that it can't be chewed. After considering and ruling out 2 other carriers that I purchased and returned, I selected this one. Although she was relatively comfortable in it, I didn't anticipate that this weakness in the design could be a potential issue then and in the future. I don't know how to or who could fix the zipper and can't see how to work around it. Duc Tape doesn't hold everything together.
Superb pet carrier for small or medium cat or dog. I like this model as it has a narrower contour than some others (i.e. less boxy) so it is "puurfect" for traveling 🙂 ! Also, the faux sherpa cushion is a great touch to create comfort but without bulk — and it's washable!
