She was chewing literally every single thing but her toys and getting into the trash can, as well as peeing all over the house despite us taking her outside frequently to potty. Kennel training and praising/treats helped some, but it just wasn’t enough and a trainer recommended a collar like this. I haven’t had to use the shock and don’t think I ever will need to use it. Just a quick beep or a vibrate on the lowest setting is enough to get her attention. I’ve seen so much improvement in a short time with this collar, and feel that soon we will be able to completely ditch the collar as she is learning and catching on to the rules very quickly. I like the bright red and black colors and it was really easy to put it together. The battery lasts much longer than I expected, which may also be due to the fact that we only use the collar as a last resort to get her attention. I'll first start by saying I never do reviews. However I was at my wits end with our nine month old chiweenie. I thought my husband was going to kill me and the dog…and I was praying my neighbors did not have guns because this little 8 pound cutie barked like a 100 lb squealing pig at anything and everything! Previous to this device I tried the citronella collar and the ultrasonic remote. Neither phased her. I will say on day one I thought this thing was a piece of junk. I called pet safe and learned that the collar needs to be tightly fitted on the dogs neck or it will not work. After adjusting the collar and I was still on the phone with the representative my Daisy girl went outside and I witnessed it working immediately. We still have some light barking which I imagine occurs before the strengthened static but it is completely manageable. I will say after reading the reviews we have lucked out with the battery… It has been in use with an aggressive Barker for a month and still has not needed to be replaced. Our only downside is that the collar is bulky… I take it off when she comes inside. If I do forget to put it on when she goes outside she will bark up a storm again! I bought two Basic Static Bark collars to help alleviate my puggle's and beagle's separation anxiety barking when we are not at home. The collars are fitted properly and in accordance with instructions and the batteries are working, yet BOTH dogs continue to bark. The biggest problem is that both collars tend to move to one side of the dogs' necks, so the dogs are probably not receiving the static correction. The directions state to "REPOSITION THE COLLAR ON THE PET'S NECK EVERY 1 TO 2 HOURS.." Obviously, if we are not home, this is impossible to do. I wasted almost $100 on collars that do not work on either dog. Petsafe customer service recommended that I should purchase the more expensive Deluxe Petsafe Collar. No thanks. I bought this about a week ago after I received a complaint from a neighbor and was given a warning from our HOA for disturbance. best collar yet! I start with the vibration first and then resort to shock last case scenario. It does not hurt as long as you have the shock on the low setting. We got a 6 month old long haired dachshund puppy to add to our family, which already included a 12yo indoor only cat. That was 8 months ago. We did everything correctly from the beginning to ensure that our two fur babies would, at very least, tolerate each other enough to peacefully coexist in our home. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we just never have been able to stop our pup from chasing, cornering and general tormenting of the cat. Don't get me wrong the cat has now for the most part stopped running and stands her ground which means there is a noisy fight. To clarify, the cat is fighting and hissing and growling. The dog thinks she's playing and loves the game and he hears nothing else when focused on this game. As far as the tone and vibration the product works well. But the shocking feature seems to run the battery down very quick. I can usually get about 4 corrective shocks out of the receiver before the range decreases dramatically and then 1-2 closer shocks before they loose all effectiveness but the tone and vibration will still work. I have a 9 month old puppy who is barking non stop a couple times a day. I found the Premier Pet Bark Collar and thought this might be the trick. I am glad I did so far we have reduced these barking times to shorter times and less often. We do not leave the collar on all the time but do put it on when he starts the barking. Does not work at 100 yards as advertised. I bought this because I have a big yard and the invisible fences do not offer a big enough range for my dog to roam. I bought this trainer because of the 100 yard range it claimed to have, thinking I could give my dog more room to play and run. My house sets about 80 yards off the road in front of our house. I have tried several times to correct my from the house before he gets to the road and it would not work.I have to be with-in 30 yards of my dog before it works. Once I'm with-in 30 yards it works great and my dog responds well to the correction. I wish I had shopped around more before bought this collar.JDPK
I had the older model for 4 years and loved it, Bought this unit because I thought I was upgrading and other collar battery was no good. This doesn't hold charge for more than 2 days.. I have a crazy dog that is a Lab-Pointer. He was the worse in his puppy class. I have trained dogs before, big dogs and hunting dogs. This guy doesn’t get it! He gets the trading collar though. I have had this for months. I only shocked him once. I rarely “ buzz” him on a low vibrational mode to stop unwanted behaviors like over exuberant jumping on visitors. It works. I have the upland hunting version, partly for locating the dog in thick brush, same brand. Both are very helpful. I finally found a decent collar I can utilize! The instructions are pretty simple. One good feature is that it doesnt "go to sleep" if my dog doesnt move for a couple of minutes like my old collar did. I like that the remote transmitter hangs on the lanyard! The Training Collar works instantly at the first try. Is a great resource when teaching commands alongside. Unfortunately, our dog’s body has not reacted well to it and started losing hair and developed sores in the areas where the remote box (not sure of the official name, so I apologize) touched his neck, so we have elected to no longer use it. It is unfortunate because it was quite expensive and did work, but the side effects are not something I want to put my dog through.FLSusan
