These are nice dog houses. They are light weight & don't look like they are very warm, but they actually do a good job, my border collies like these a lot. I bought my first about 20 years ago, then shortly after bought another. My dogs passed, so I gave them to a neighbor, which still has them in use. I recently got a medium breed puppy, so I went and got another since I had such good service out of the first two. I would highly recommend to anyone with a pet outside. We get some snow where I live and my dogs always stayed warm and dry.
I mistakenly bought the Large doghouse for dogs up to 90 lbs. But my 5 month old coonhound was too large for it. I returned it and ordered the X-large doghouse and it is the right size. Unfortunately, the doghouse was broken in two places, probably due to the way you ship. These doghouses are delivered without any protection and will crack or break when sliding into anything. I will have to repair it to hold it together since I don't trust you are able to send another one without the same issues.Daniel

It's not extra large, that's for sure. It's a large. My two Berner males at 94-lbs and 120-lbs don't go in because they can barely turn around in it. Nor my 88-lb Pyrenees. The material itself is great. But isn't the point that the dog can get in/out of it so they use it? My smaller 72-lb female uses her Ex-Lg. So is it really the size a medium dog should use? I own 6 of these quality XL dog houses for my Great Pyrenees dog, as well as, my pygmy goats. My goats actually prefer them to there fully enclosed barn. MINNESOTA Winter or Summer, they love to cuddle sometimes 2-3 per igloo. I have never needed to use the flap doors. I think the ventilation is more important. As a bonus they are a great climbing structure, even my guardian dog can be found balancing on top to get a better view of potential predators in the distance. One temporary drawback is the base can be difficult to disassemble from the top, for the first few cleanings. But a large screw drivers works well to pry them apart and they "break in" quite quickly. This igloo dog house is absolutely the best thing on the market. Heavy, durable and withstands high winds, rain, and hail. I haven't been able to test in cold temperatures yet as I just received this recently. However, I have no doubts it will definitely hold up. I waited to give a review because I wanted to test out the weather conditions to truly give my 100% honest opinion. Does not come assembled but it's an easy process. The large is quite large. My dog is 60lbs and has plenty of room left in it to move adound. Provides a great shelter. It is constructed very well. You will definitely not be disappointed with this product! Those who have dogs that live outside this would be perfect for. Very well insulated and lining with straw in the winter will make it that much more insulated. We live in Pennsylvania so our winters can be brutal with sometimes 3 seasons in 1 day. I got this igloo-shaped dog house for our Shih Tzu which is 20 lbs. I got this to keep her cool in the warm months when we sit on our patio. It came in two separate pieces in a large box. The top part of the dog house has 4 brackets which easily snaps to the bottom half for quick assembly. I assembled it in our home and needed to carry it out onto our patio through the front of the house since it was too wide to fit through our sliding door. It is surprisingly lightweight for its dimensions, so it is easy to carry to different locations. The top of the house has a round vent with a paw print which can be turned to open or close it as needed for ventilation. Because of its design, there’s room for movement. The smaller opening in the front protects it from the elements such as wind and sun; although rain did get in through that front opening and not the vent. It disassembles quickly for cleaning or even to transport away from home! Although it is a large house, I feel that it is suitable for a medium size dog so that it can have enough room to move comfortably. Once assembled, my dog was confused and leery, which is to be expected since it’s something new! I gently introduced her to the inside and she was able to move around comfortable until she nested on her bedding. I highly recommend this house for any small to med sized pet to be used in the summer to keep them cool and winter to keep them warmer. Yet because it lacks insulation. I would not recommend it for permanent outside shelter in the winter. Additionally, I did notice that it got hot on the patio and thus I had to move it to a shady area to avoid overheating my dog. It’s a great doghouse. He’s already tried chewing the top roof corners off but it hasn’t hurt the integrity of the house. He also won’t get in it. I’m not sure why, because he did get in his crate when it was in his dog pen. He’s a 9 month old GSP. I’m hopeful once he reaches adulthood he’ll stop eating it and actually get in it. I’d totally buy it again though. It’s a great doghouse! I just have a strange dog. He also can’t get on top of it because there isn’t any grip and he slides off. That helps with him not jumping out of the 6’ tall pen.

I use these for my nigerian dwarf and lamancha goats…. In addition to our barn, as additional cover and housing. The little ones got breat but so do the full soze 3 year old lamanchas. It is sturdy enough for our uses, which included putting a smaller insulated cat container in one side of the house and food/water dishes near the entrance. Easy to put together. I was able to do it by myself ( 53 yr old female). I didn’t have any problems screwing the pieces together. The directions were easy to follow. I was able to get both of my dogs in it once I took the bottom door off. Negative: one of the plugs came out of one of the door halves and 1/2 the insulation came out. This house claims to be insulated, but it’s not what you would think. The whole house is just hollow plastic. There is nothing in the walls or ceiling but air. I guess they think the double layer of plastic is considered insulated. I plan to fill the panels with something, not sure what yet.DT

This "medium" doghouse was smaller than described in the online details. The length was 2 inches shorter. The width and depth were each 1 inch shorter. I had most of the doghouse assembled before I decided to measure it. I had to take it apart, package it up and return it to my local store. Fortunately, the return process was easy. Received it fast from shipper, Some plastic panels were a little bent/warped when they came out of the box and when you are assembling can be a bit challenging but no reason to throw in the towel. I give it 4.5 out of 5 stars so far overall but I haven't had a chance to weather test it outside against the heat, rains and winds that we will be experiencing during the tropical rainy season in South Florida. Look forward to see how well I think it will hold up during this period and also year around. In addition but not as a necessity I plan on adding a new plastic sheet underneath the new elevated level concrete platform and some new comfortable bedding which will be inside covering the plastic flooring base for our priceless family dog. Also due to the nature of the tabbing in assembling this dog house which could be alot better in my opinion, I decided to glue the two piece plastic flooring base together for more strength something that I didn't have to do. I might decide in the future to glue it all together but for now until I complete all the weather testing I will leave it as is. I would suggest to the manufacturer to make the instructions a little clearer/easier to read, make the tabs snap together better and easier, add more vents on the sides if possible, replace the twofront pieces of plastic with screening and as a after market item a battery operated fan/heater that you can install to keep your dog cool or warm. This is made out of thin plastic, and you literally snap the pieces together. I would recommend getting the plastic crates that can be used indoors/outdoors, as they are sturdier and only in two pieces, and cost less. This is not sturdier, and the plastic also gets stress spots on it if you take the roof off to clean or whatever. It's also a tight fit for big dogs, which is good in winter, but not in summer… and if using to keep out of rain, a big dog would still get wet because his head would most likely be sticking out. This is a great size for a cat or small/medium dogs.NYCGalOut
The dog house looks nice once it's set up. However, the structure is not too stout and the walls are too thin as well as the floor. So I'll be needing to make a few improvements. I'll need to add some foam board to the walls to provide better insulation during the winter months. And will need to install a dog house heater to keep my dog warm during the night and for those cold days. But for the price it's a decent dig house.Robapo

This dog house was purchased for an inside/outside dog. Since we have an invisible fence, he needed some shelter during the raw days of fall and winter. This house fits the bill. It is attractive enough to stay on our screened in porch, and sturdy enough to hold a black lab with room to spare. I probably would be a little reluctant if this house was for an outside only dog due to the soft cedar wood construction.
